We had a great week! The house is wonderful. Very very clean and we really appreciated the thoughtful layout and impressive use of space. It was perfect for our family! The driveway down to the house is steep (as noted in the description)with switchbacks but once you’ve navigated it, it is not a problem. Great location - close to town.

My husband and I had a wonderful stay. The house is clean and was fully stocked with all of the essentials. The owner communicated with us well in the beginning and throughout the week. The neighbors are friendly and helpful. Thank you for a great stay, we are looking forward to coming back!

The ride down winds a bit and is steep. Recommend AWD/4x4 to make it easier. The house is great and the view of the lake is very tranquil! The dock is too shallow to allow for safe jumping/diving in the water (even in July) and it is very hard to dock a boat to pick up people. Dock is also wobbly so a bit hard to have more than 2 people on it at a time. The diving platform in the lake is gone due to a storm. Overall really liked the house and had a great time. If the dock was lengthened and improved, this would be the best rental on the lake.

"Lake Edge" is perched on a steep hillside about 50' over it's private beach. All 43 of the wooden steps to the water were strong and secure as we're the railings. Two scary switchbacks on the lane to the cottage we're really not as difficult as they appeared.
The cottage is secluded. Adjacent neighbors were invisible through the trees, though we could hear soft voices. Perfect privacy in which to relax and unwind.
The cottage is newly decorated with flat screen TVs everywhere. Great Wi-Fi. Very comfortable and functional. Great deck with a view across the lake.
Best two-week vacation yet!

This property was just what our family needed to relax and enjoy the beauty of Skaneateles. The home's deck had the most beautiful lake view in the mornings. The home was fully stocked with anything you might need. We enjoyed the access to the lake for swimming and rented a pontoon boat for a couple days. As others have mentioned, the driveway down to the house took some practice but we were all pros by the end of the week. The Owner was very responsive to any questions we had. A magical place and one we'd love to come back to!

Perfect Family Lake Getaway
We loved our week at Lake Edge. The house was cozy, clean, and a perfectly decorated lake house. The stone beach was perfect for our two kids to spend their days. The layout of the house is perfect for a young family, the loft provides a great space for the kids to spend their indoor time and gives the adults room to hang in the kitchen and living area. We'd come again in a heartbeat.

Great summertime visit to Central NY
Nice, tidy, comfortable lakeside lodging with working AC (big bonus) and a great deck overlooking Skaneateles Lake. A series of wooden steps leads to a secluded rocky beach with fire pit and serviceable dock. Throw a tube jig off the dock at twilight and you might catch a nice smallmouth bass (we did).
Be prepared for a steep, paved driveway that looks intimidating but is very manageable; we visited in a full-size pickup and had no trouble.
Craig was great to work with and very accommodating. All in all we had an outstanding visit.

Shady retreat
Great Lake-front home. Perfect for families. The shaded location kept as cool all day with very little need for the AC. Friendly neighbors. Close to town.

Great relaxing and beautiful spot.
The other reviews are spot on. Pics are extremely accurate. We had a great week of pure family time and it was awesome. Rent a pontoon at the marina and get out on the glorious lake.

Perfect Place to Get Together
This was our first time vacationing with a group of friends in the Finger Lakes region. We would definitely recommend Lake Edge to any small group of friends or family vacation in the Skaneatles area. The house was perfectly located on right on Lake Skaneatles, close enough to get to town and around the area, but also secluded.
We swam in the lake everyday, fished, biked, jogged, hiked, kayaked, canoed, played games, wine tastings and brewery tours - everything we set out to do on vacation and more.
The windiness and steepness of the driveway to the house is intimidating at first, but after the week we were masters.

Super!
We really enjoyed our stay. The house is beautifully situated - just as the picture suggests - facing east over the lake. Everything in the house was ship shape when we arrived. We never did learn how to work the upstairs TV, but we did not want to watch it anyway. The driveway really is steep, as are the stairs to the lake - the car got used to the driveway - I thought of the steps as good exercise! Really lovely place.

wonderful house with gorgeous views
We were in town for a wedding and decided to stay here rather than in a hotel... and I'm so happy we did! We had never been to the finger lakes region and Lake Skaneateles took our breath away -- so clean and so beautiful! In between all of the weekend wedding events, we were able to read a good book on the balcony, sit on the beach or the dock while enjoying a good beverage. The house was perfectly stocked with everything you need, private, very clean and decorated very tastefully. Our parents who are in their early 70's did just fine with the stairs. The driveway scared my mom a bit at first because you are definitely on a slope, but my husband and dad found it to be a good challenge! -- it's SO worth it for the gorgeous lakefront location! We are already talking about when we will return. We'd love to have more time to spend on the water, have a campfire, go hiking in the area (maybe finally beat my husband in ping ping) or just relax!

Wonderful Weekend for Syracuse Graduation
Spent a long weekend here to avoid Syracuse University graduation crowds. Our only regret is that we couldn't spend more time at this lovely house! The setting would be perfect to write that "great novel"-- since it's so peaceful. Owner was available immediately by text when we had questions, which was very helpful. (Only caution is the steep driveway, which is the tradeoff for lakefront views.)

great private spot
The house worked really well for our group. Our adult son slept in the lowest level - he thought it was cooler and there were two fans. The view of the water is great, and our guests who live in the area thought it was great and really loved the deck. The driveway down is a bit challenging - steep with two hairpin turns, but we are from the mountains of Colorado and could deal with it well. The kayaks, canoe, raft and chairs by the beach were a real plus. The town of Skaneateles is also a great plane to explore. Grandma, aged 79, found it somewhat hard to get down to the beach which is quite a ways down from the house. Having to bring towels was inconvenient for us traveling from Denver, and we did buy more toilet paper and bar soap for the shower. Overall, it was a great place.

Relaxing week away!
We had a fabulous week relaxing on this pristine lake! The house had every needed detail and felt like you were at the place you would have if you could! We enjoyed kayaking and reading by the lake, as well as the deck that overlooked the lake (we especially enjoyed the rocking chair out there!). The driveway is steep but was no problem for our experienced drivers! We loved feeling like we were away from it all, but being so close to Skaneateles to check out the restaurants, and stopping at the vineyard across the road that was recommended to us. We enjoyed the lake most, but came with family that spent time going through the many museums and hiking areas around there. We didn't realize what a beautiful part of the country that is!

Fantastic lake house, great for kids and relaxing.
I've been visiting Skaneateles for many years and have stayed in most of the hotels and a number of houses. I must say that this was the best experience we have have had. We bought my 15 year old son, his 3 friends and my 18 year old daughter. The boys had an amazing time, hanging on the beach, fishing off the dock or playing ping pong in the basement. We also bought up our ski boat and moored it right off the dock. The house is setup nicely with the loft for the boys to sleep and separate bedrooms for the others. We would sit on the back deck and have coffee in the morning and watch the sun over the lake. The deck was so relaxing for everyone! The property was very clean and have everything that you needed. I had to contact the owner a few times to coordinate arrivals and he responded immediately. I would strongly recommend this house for anyone that wants a relaxing and fun vacation!

Didn't Want To Leave!
Would give it 6 stars if I could! The perfect combination of "cabin in the woods" and "lakefront cottage"! Charming and modern (loved the decor) with great flow and more than ample sleeping spaces. Had no problem fixing gourmet meals in the well-stocked kitchen with adjoining pantry/mudroom and extra fridge in the basement! Gorgeous views from every angle and great wrap-around deck with plenty of seating! Nice waterfront with deep-water mooring for our boat, my 78 year old father had no problem with stairs to cottage or waterfront. The entire setting is so peaceful and private that you can't help but relax! The most excitement we had were the fierce ping-pong tournaments! The driveway is narrow and adventurous but doable and the owner was fantastic-very responsive and reachable! Perfect location for the boat show: marina, winery and restaurant within a mile, country club 2 miles away and town 5 miles. My family had such a memorable time that my father and brother were planning our stay next summer before we even left the driveway! I totally agree with previous reviewer that wished it hers!!!

Our Weekend at "Lake's Edge"
One of my favorite things about this property was the remote, secluded location and the wonderful "homey" decor inside. It feels like home away from home, very clean and well-maintained-everything labelled to make it easier. The loft area is so neat for the kids, we have epic ping pong tournaments in the basement, listened to music using the outdoor speakers, and cooked some awesome meals on the grill. There are TV's in every room (but who wants to be indoors!) The stairs down to the water are easy to manage but maybe not for anyone unsteady on their feet or elderly. It's a mini workout to come back up the stairs ; ) The road to get to the property seems precarious but i don't have 4 wheel drive on my car and i didn't have a problem at all! They had anything we needed on site, even an extra full fridge downstairs!!-just bring your own towels and confirm check-out time so you can be out before the housekeeper shows up, ooppss : ) and bring some wood for the campfire : )
Can't wait to come back again : )

Nice spot on the west side
Really loved the privacy and the setting in the woods up above the lake. Almost a 180 view of the lake off the patio, cottage is well-equipped and very homey feeling. Loft was perfect for the kids. Driveway is a bit steep and a bit hairy to get down but didn't have any problems. Note it property is heavily wooded and on the west side so after 3:00 or so you'll lose the sun, but the sunrises and mornings are quite lovely. Enjoyed the stay.

One of the best vacation we've ever had!
What a great cottage and property this is. We had a wonderful vacation visiting wineries, shopping and eating at wonderful restaurants in town, dinner cruise on the lake, swimming, boating, relaxing on the deck and enjoying the views. The house is comfortable, charming and has everything you could need or want. It really couldn't have been better. We look forward to vacationing here again. Only wish this place was mine!

Tranquility
We love this house! It is quiet ,quaint and decorated beautifully ! You feel as if your in your own sanctuary because it is very private. You can kayak, the marina is only 1 mile away. They also have a floating dock and a clean beach area. ( stairs to walk down) From the deck you can actually see the fish swimming , the water is so clean (shale bottom lake)
. It's in a great location because you are five miles from town , close to restaurants and even the Anyela winery is nearby. There is an adventurous driveway to drive down but it is manageable.
What's so nice about this home is that is is updated and looks like 2013 when you walk in, not the 1970's decor that seems to be the norm in upstate ny . We will be back again.

Great family vacation
Charming 2 bedroom with huge loft for 5-6 kids. Clean and bright cabin perched atop a bluff right on the lake. Kids loved the kayaks (2), fishing poles, fire pit for s'mores... Adults loved modern kitchen, comfortable beds, satellite tvs (4), "man-cave" below w/ping pong and large tv, and peaceful, lovely location. Owner was responsive and very easy to reach by phone and email.
Stairs to lake may be difficult for people with mobility issues.... My 75 yr old dad had no problem.
