The Beach View Retreat is located in the highly valued Bridgeport Condos. Some people even get married at the beach area and stay in the home with family! Common sites along the beach areas include Sea Turtle nests and bird nesting sanctuaries during special times of the year.
“Anna Maria Island’s Hot Spot” is now Historic Bridge Street on Bradenton Beach, the southernmost city of Anna Maria Island. Bridge Street, where the original wooden bridge was the only means of access to the island, where a beautiful fishing pier is in its place today, leading to an active street where you can Shop~Dine~Play from beach to bay. Bridge Street offers a walkable community with spectacular water views from the both the pier and the gulf beach and only a couple blocks from Beach View Retreat.
The Beach View Retreat offers everything you need for your beach stay! Just bring your food, clothing and toiletries. In less than 2 minutes, you will be spending your day on the beach, or venture out a bit further and hang out fishing in one of the many great spots nearby. Sightings along the Gulf of Mexico beach and inter-coastal waterway include Manatees, Rays, Dolphins, many kinds of fish, a wide variety of birds, and other amazing creatures. Common sights along the beach areas include Sea Turtle nests and bird nesting sanctuaries during special times of the year. Once in a while, you’ll come across a Gulf-side wedding!
While some prefer the isolation of the nearby beaches, others opt toward more people at the public beaches. If that is your desire, venture to Coquina Beach at the south end of Bradenton Beach and Anna Maria Island, or Manatee County Beach at the west end of Manatee Avenue in Holmes Beach, or Anna Maria Pier at the east end of Pine Avenue for the intercoastal/Tampa Bay access. Anna Maria Pier is a special place where many times you can see fish, rays, dolphins, and manatees swimming underneath you as well as fish from the dock and have a nice meal or an ice cream cone at Two Scoops Ice Cream Shop. (The Pier is currently under repair, Winter 2017.)
If you're in the mood to tour around the rest of the island, catch the free trolley around the corner and it will take you to any of the beaches, restaurants, shops or grocery stores along Gulf Drive anywhere on Anna Maria Island. Take the trolley to the old historic Bridge Street area of Bradenton Beach to enjoy the Key West style restaurants and shops. If you enjoy painting or photography, the sunsets are among the best in the world.
Enjoy live music nightly and dinner at Manatee Public. By timing it right (usually 7 pm), you can enjoy sea creature (fish, eel, and shark) feeding by the owner while enjoying Ice Cream at Holy Cow Ice Cream.
A lovely sunrise can be enjoyed along the Coquina Baywalk. Bean Point and Coquina Beach are great beaches to visit along with Sunset Park next to our home.
Just across the Cortez bridge on the south side of the island, is the old school Florida fishing village of Cortez, where restaurants have excellent seafood and some have live music. Swordfish Grill is our favorite on the dock.
We have 3 favorites for breakfasts: 1) Rod & Reel Pier, 2) Ginny's & Jane E's, and 3) The Donut Experiment (fun for the kids but not completely filling).
Eco tours and on the Gulf and Intercoastal via boats, kayaks and jet skis are always nice. The Ringling Museum in Sarasota is great.
The Regina is a sugar barge that sunk just off our beach during a storm in 1940. It is in about 20 feet of water just 150 feet or so off the beach. It is marked with a buoy. The Regina is 10th Florida Shipwreck Underwater Archaeological Preserve.
There is a small reef of rocks about 150 feet northwest from the Sunset Park Beach directly west of our home. I like to swim out to it and then dive down 8-10 feet to see colorful fish like the striped Sheepshead, etc.
Our kids love going to the Bridge Street Pier or taking the free trolley just outside the door up to Anna Maria Pier and looking for fish in the water (especially in the morning to early afternoon when you can see well through the clear water), talking to the fisherman, and eating at the restaurant or getting ice cream at Two Scoops. The Blueberry Pie ice cream is my favorite... The Trolley stops every 20 minutes from about 6 am to 10 pm.
Come enjoy the unbelievable location of the Beach View Retreat near corner of Gulf & Cortez!

This was a beautiful stay

The condo was perfect! It had every thing we could possibly want and more. The location and view out the windows was just amazing. We plan to go back next year!!

This was a great location. The condo was clean and spacious. Neighbors we met at the pool were friendly. Rex was very responsive.

This place was amazing and the view was great. Beach right across the street, white sandy beach. Will recommend this to all my friend's
4.0
So close to the beach and walkable to the restaurants and shops.

We had a wonderful one week visit to AMI! The condo was well appointed and very clean. As with other reviews, the location is perfect - situated right across the street from the Gulf, however, the traffic was somewhat loud. It didn’t bother us as the ocean certainly took precedence!! Rex was easy to communicate with and while the condo may be just a bit tired in decor, it met our needs perfectly! We would definitely stay here again!
5.0
The view is.the star of this condo! All other amenities are great and we enjoyed our entire stay. I can’t imagine anyone wouldn’t enjoy spending time here!

The condo is well appointed. The beds were comfortable. Beautiful sunset views. We liked the neighborhood. Close to the beach. Rex is the best owner I've encountered: communicative and helpful.

The host was great to work with. The unit was smaller than expected, but met our needs. The location was right on trolley line and very close to everything. The traffic noise was heavy at times. We were lucky to watch the full moon setting. Overall, we had a good stay.

We had a great time. The space was beautifully furnished and equipped. What a view! Owner very responsive to our questions.

Super cute 2-BR condo that was perfect for my sister and me, with our own private bathrooms and Queen/King beds. I LOVE this location, right at the Cortez St. bridge with short walks to beachfront cafes, shopping, Bridge Street bars, and of course the gorgeous Gulf beach right across the street. The host was friendly and responsive, handled questions quickly and got us settled in well. Will visit again for sure!

Really enjoyed our stay. Across the street from the beach. Walking distance to bars, restaurants and shopping.

We had a great vacation on AMI! The location of our condo exceeded expectations with unbelievable sunsets right out our front window. It was close to everything. The condo had everything we needed. Rex was very responsive any time we had questions. Can’t wait to return Rex!

Great view Great location

Great location, within walking distance to many places to eat. Free trolley stop is very close. Super clean.

The condo was everything the listing said. It had everything we could have needed. The beach was right across the street and there was an abundance of beach toys! We didn't use the trolly- there were plenty of places to visit, but the trolly was readily available. We saw the bioluminescence, dolphins, and manatee while at the beach. It was a wonderful vacation.

We could walk to restaurants and shopping and the beach was great!

Perfect location with beach access right across the street. With no public parking nearby, the beach was always relatively uncrowded. Liked the beach cart, which made transporting items to the beach a breeze. Loved the sunset views each night.
The condo itself is nice. It could go for a deep clean of cabinet contents and furniture. One of the strangest things we found was standing water in 2 pots (one with the lid on), 1 pan and 1 glass mixing bowl that were in the cabinets. There may be more, but I wasn’t going to look. This was just in the items we used.
We did spend our first night and the majority of our first morning and afternoon helping with a very gross (to put it mildly) cleaning situation. (No fault of the owners…apparently the previous guests caused the situation.) The owners kept in close contact and sent a family member and handyman to help, which was nice. The work we did was time-consuming, very unsanitary, and did take up many hours of our vacation. I would have hoped to receive at least an offer from the owners to refund part of the cleaning fee or a partial night or even offer to send us to dinner on them for taking care of the situation for them. They were kind and did thank us, but I don’t think they really understand all the gross work that went in to helping them out.
That being said, our family had a very nice week on AMI. We will be back for sure!

Great place to stay only down side is the amount of traffic at times in front of the condo

We loved our stay! Nice property, great location, spectacular view.

The location of this property was great with the exception of being right next to a busy intersection. The view of the Gulf was fantastic.

Wonderful Condo with amazing beachfront views. Will definitely stay at this condo again. 5-stars

We had a wonderful relaxing vacation! The condo was perfect. The view was amazing and we had everything we needed. The location was great! Everyone mentions the noise of traffic. I’m a light sleeper and it didn’t bother me one time. It has a room with chairs, a wagon, life jackets, coolers, etc. That was so amazing and a big bonus!
The only thing is the building does need a lot of attention cosmetically, but don’t be discouraged on booking because of that. It’s not the condo, it’s only the outside of the building. My outlook on that is, you’re on an island that gets a lot of storms and it’s hard to keep up with issues like that.
You will not be disappointed with this condo!!

Convenient to beach. Great views. Good location to walk to restaurants, bars and shops. Liked have all the necessities for the beach. Well maintained. Traffic sucks. Road in front of condo is very busy and loud. Makes it hard to enjoy the outdoor balcony.

Our experience was was both relaxing and fun. Beautiful sunsets from our terrace, daily walks on on the white sandy beach 2 minutes from our condo, shops and restaurants within walking distance, cultural events in nearby Sarasota. The condo was comfortable and very clean.

Nice property, great location. Close to shops and restaurants. Beautiful view of beach and water. Nice pool. Email questions answered promptly. Would definitely stay here again.

Bright and sunny condo, right across from the beach, lots of traffic in the area but did not bother us. Fully equipped!

Property is in a perfect location with awesome views. Condo is nicely decorated and well equipped. Rex is a very gracious host who takes pride in his property!

This condo provided not only a relaxing place to stay, but it was close to many interesting shops and great dining. Free trolley was across the street. The view of the gulf was breathtaking. We will stay here again. Host provided a wealth of information about the island.
5.0
Amazing property with a private beach within a minutes walk! The island is pretty much bike accessible or trolley accessible everywhere. Highly recommend to check the island out via bicycles! The bridge street shops and restaurants were super cute and fun and within a short bike ride or walk from the condo. We loved our stay and didn't want to go!
4.0
Everything was really nice. Beach towels along with chairs and beach wagon furnished.
The only thing was that the glass doors and windows in the LR needed shades due to the sun and the caution lights from the stop lights at night. A couple of issues with the fridge and the bathroom drain were handles very quickly. Overall a great vacation and stay
4.0
Older buildings ,central location, the 202unit was decorated very nice and kitchen was stocked well,,,the full ocean front was the best…
Hoping to reschedule for nights of mandatory evacuation and lack of electricity in the unit,,lost five nights and I choose to forfeit three night stay in the beginning due to Hurricane Ian..
Communicating with Rex Geissler for confirmation…

Loved the location. So many things within a short walk. Views were gorgeous. The condo was very clean and cozy. We have made plans to make this our usual place going forward; we have fallen in love with AME. Owners were so communicative and very nice.
3.0
Close to the beach. The property needs some attention by the owner. Areas of paint chipping, mold in the bathroom vent, door panels chipped. The beach chairs were rusted and the umbrella was broken.
5.0
We had a fantastic stay and a great time in AMI. The condo was perfect and very well maintained. Gorgeous views! Can't wait for our next trip back.
5.0
My wife, 8 year-old daughter and I visited in late July. We love this place! The beach view grabs your attention the second you walk through the door! The condo was clean, comfortable and convenient. The owner was always responsive and friendly.
We expected some highway noise but the walls, windows and doors had very good soundproofing. We spent a lot of our downtime on the balcony looking out at the beach. Pedestrian watching was sometimes entertaining as well😆
Really no need for a golf cart if you have a vehicle. Everything is walkable except for Publix. If you do rent a cart, you definitely want a gas-powered one.
The covered parking spot is nice to have. The parking spot is pretty far from the elevator so someone that has trouble getting around will have some walking to do. We only used the elevator for a heavy suitcase or two.
The only negative thing we could come up with: the pool felt "dated" but it was fine the one time we used it.
The weekly rate was very reasonable for a condo with a 180 degree beach view. We look forward to returning!

Perfect for our small family if 4. Easy access to the beach and all of the places we wanted to hit while on vacation!

The best vacation accommodations are always about location, location, location. The Beach View Retreat is the perfect location for a stay on Anna Maria Island. It has awesome views of the ocean from the master bedroom, patio, living room and kitchen and is an easy walk to restaurants, shops, and the beach. You are literally across the street from beautiful Bradenton Beach (where we spent many hours enjoying the sand and water), a block away from the Wicked Cantina restaurant, Gulf Shore Cafe and Green Turtle (a nice gift and surf shop for all your beach needs and souvenirs), and 4-5 blocks from Historic Bridge Street (and AMI Pier) which has many more restaurants and shops.
The Beach View Retreat is also perfect for those looking for water excursions as many launch from the Cortez Marina (3-5 minute drive) and North Coquina Boat Ramp (8-10 minute drive). If you want to explore the northern part of AMI, it's an easy 10-15 minute drive in a car or golf cart. A trolley stop is also located right across the street for those without a vehicle.
The condo is also located near the Cortez Bridge, which makes it a breeze to come and go from the island compared to the heavily trafficked Anna Maria Island Bridge.
The unit was super clean, including all kitchenware (which can be hard to find in a VRBO unit) and the shower had solid water pressure.
There is no need to pack a lot either as the unit has a washer and dryer. Such a luxury!!
Some reviews have mentioned the busy street in front of the building. It is a busy road, but unless you're on a side street somewhere on the island with no beach view, all roads on AMI are busy. It's a small island with only a few main roads. It can be a little noisy at times, but we enjoyed having breakfast, Happy Hour and watching sunsets on the patio every day. The busy street did not hinder our enjoyment of the patio or unit. It's fun to people watch!
The communication with owners Rex and Michelle was the best I've experienced on VRBO. They truly care about their customers and your vacation experience.
This is a must-stay unit on AMI. We will definitely be back!
