We really enjoyed our week at Camp Pinecone. The location is ideal for enjoying the Adirondacks - Tupper Lake, Saranac lake, and Lake Placid are all fairly close. Fish Creek Pond offers a quiet setting with access to other remote Ponds via Canoe or Kayak as well as Upper Saranac Lake (via the narrow channel) with a larger boat. Upper Saranac Lake was truly enjoyable - warm water and lots of it, with a very remote feeling. The cottage is also close to some very nice (yet challenging) hikes of some of the 46 peaks. The cabin itself offered lots of amenities - comfortable beds, a dock, and a great fire pit - which we really enjoyed during the evenings as the sun was setting and into the evening. It was a bit warm inside (especially during the sun setting hours), but there were ceiling fans and/or box fans in each room, which helped with that. The kitchen is a bit tiny, but workable and nicely outfitted. We vacation annually with our adult children and they all said that this was probably their favorite cottage. We made lots of memories! Thank you for sharing your family vacation home with us!

Our family of six spent a week enjoying this wonderful vacation rental perfectly located near Upper Saranac Lake. We spent the days exploring the surrounding towns and hiking trails, including the VIC at Paul Smith’s College which we highly recommend. After that we swam and fished off the dock, and later enjoyed the beautiful sunsets from the front deck before coming together for a campfire at the end of the day. The fire pit was amazing and really became the center of our family time. It was an added bonus that the neighbors next door were welcoming and kind. We loved spending time with them as well. We highly recommend this property and can’t wait to come back again!

Saranac Lake Stay
Maureen was wonderful to deal with. The cabin / cottage was just as pictured. The neighbors were so friendly and helpful. We had a Fantastic view of the lake!!!! The hummingbirds were flying around the deck constantly. The chipmunk came to visit but we did not feed him/her. The canoes were put to good use and we loved the firepit and the sunsets from the dock were breathtaking. We had a relaxing vacation with our family!!!!!

Excellent vacation getaway!!!
Our families had a excellent vacation at Camp Pinecone!!! The house was everything just as it was described. It was the perfect size for our families and included everything we could possibly need. The dock, swimming area and canoes were so delightful!!! It was a perfect place for children and adults to go swimming with beautiful, shallow and sandy bottom. We also really really enjoyed the big fire pit and had a great fire many nights. The area is just beautiful and we highly recommend vacationing at Camp Pinecone!!!

Great location but wouldn’t return to property
The location of this camp is great: close to Tupper, Indian Mountain, Blue Mountain Lake, and Saranac. The sunsets over Fish Creek Pond were magnificent. The outdoor fire pit and indoor gas fireplace were great amenities. However, I wouldn’t return because the house was not clean, especially the showers.

Great spot!
We had a wonderful time staying at this property. It was a great location with easy water access. There is a sandy entrance for kids to comfortably play around the dock, though definitely wear water shoes. The fire pit was fantastic with plenty of stocked wood. A really nice new grill (as of summer 2020) and very comfortable bedrooms to top it off. A great spot!

Adirondack Oasis
I left Camp Pinecone a week and a half ago and I'm still depressed. I wish it weren't 6 hours away. The house is beautiful, comfortable, lived in, kitchen has everything you need to cook meals for a large group. I'm the avid cook of our group of 8 friends who went up, so I brought up a big box of my own cooking equipment and it was largely unnecessary. Could have gotten away with just bringing up a good chef's knife and a large cutting board and leaving everything else at home. Plenty of parking out front. The backyard is a dream. That's gotta be the best fire pit area I've ever encountered, with absolutely no shortage of wood. The neighbor on the left side, Bill was so friendly. When he saw us building our first fire of the week he came over with some kindling for us and chatted for a bit about the area. There was a comet coming by, I wanna say Neowise, that he gave us a heads up about and even brought over a pair of binoculars that night so we could see it even better from the dock. Speaking of the dock, that dock is like the highlight of the whole place for me. Spent every morning there drinking my coffee, every night there watching the sun set. There was even a time we were able to watch a storm roll in over us like a curtain of rain over the lake. We got ice cream at Donelley's almost every day, went hiking at Panther Mt. (A short, quick but very steep hike 15 minutes up the road) and rented a motor boat from Hickocks just across the lake. We got a lower HP engine cause it was the last one so they knocked 20 bucks a day off the price. For reference it took us about 40 minutes to get from the house to Green Island/ Tommy's Rock in Upper Saranac Lake proper with 3 adults in the boat.
Anyway, I could go on and on but we loved it, we'd definitely come back again. It's hard to leave a place like that.

Excellent location and property.
This property was perfect. It had everything we could have asked for. Room for all of us (8 adults) to be comfortable. Fire pit was awesome. Location was perfect for our family vacation. We could fish off the dock, take out the canoe’s, swim across the pond or relax on the hammocks. The kitchen was fully stocked and towels- both bath and beach- were provided. Would definitely go back here again.

Camp Pinecone, July 2019
Our stay at Camp Pinecone was near ideal. My wife and I, our two adult children and spouses, and one grandchild, were easily accommodated at the house. The house itself lacked nothing that we needed or wanted., and was very comfortable.
We spent a lot of time on the dock, swimming, having dinner, just hanging out, and as an adequate docking place for our 19 ft power boat. Sunsets were beautiful from that location looking out over Fish Creek Pond.
There are plenty of places to canoe right from the dock, as Fish Creek Pond ties into several other ponds and creeks..
There is a shallow but adequate channel that connects Fish Creek to the far larger Upper Saranac Lake for some "serious" tubing, skiing, etc..
Plenty of hiking in the general area; we prefer the Lake Placid area hiking trails, about 50 minutes away.
If you're looking for a clean, relatively modern house on the water to stay at, I can easily recommend this. We hope to turn this into an annual trip to gather the whole family together.
It's difficult to find fault; the worse I can do is note that despite the fact that there's a terrific fire pit in the back yard and plenty of wood, there was no ax to split large hunks of wood, and we had to borrow one from the neighbors..
Lastly,if anyone is planing on bringing a boat, I do not recommend using the association's launch.for anything over perhaps 12 ft long.. There's 2 issues; first the area is very hilly and the road is narrow, and getting the boat to the launch was somewhat difficult. Secondly, the lake bed at the launch is very uneven and the bed slopes considerably from one side o the other, making it difficult to load the boat back onto the trailer.
This is NOT the fault of Camp Pinecone, but I just want to make boaters aware of the difficulty. In the future, I would use the launch on the other side of the pond at Hickock's Boat Livery and drive the boat over to Camp Pinecone from there.
All in all, a very enjoyable experince

Can’t wait to return to Camp Pinecone
Your search should stop right here. Everything about this property was comfortable & seamless, from the amenities provided to communicating with the owner. It was more than enough space for our group of 6 adults + 1 child. The crib was a pleasant surprise! We loved the outdoor space even more than the inside if that’s possible! I look forward to staying here again next summer & logging more time in the Adirondack chairs!

Excellent Vacation home
We have stayed at many vacation homes in the Adirondacks and this one was the best. The house is clean and well organized with an excellent deck and boat dock. The location is great with access to Upper Saranac Lake for boaters and Follensby Clear Pond for canoes and kayaks. Everything was provided including linens and towels and everything is as advertised. The sunsets are awesome and the firepit is one of the best I have ever seen. The owners were very helpful and even left us a goody bag to make S'mores with. Highly recommended.
If you go take time to sit on the dock and watch the sunset and listen to the loons it will restore your spirit.

Camp Pinecone was just as described!
This was our first time using Homeaway/VRBO and we will definitely use this again. Camp Pinecone was just as the pictures showed. No surprises. The listing was accurate in regards to the location, layout and all amenities. The "Camp" was very clean and Maureen could not have been more helpful or accommodating. I would definitely recommend this property to anyone who is looking for peace and quiet and just a great time at a lakefront property. This was our first vacation with our children since they have married and started families of their own. The two upstairs bedrooms were perfect for them with little ones. In fact one bedroom even had a crib. Where we had two
little ones with us we mostly just enjoyed all being together. We did enjoy some of the local attractions such as The Carousel and the Wild Center. We enjoyed the canoes, the dock, the hammocks, the fire pit and loved the sunsets over the lake! We would definitely stay here again.

Wonderful family vacation
We just spent our annual vacation week at Camp Pinecone. We have stayed at many other Adk rentals and Camp Pinecone was definitely one of the best. The camp is accurately described. It was perfect for our family of six. We loved the dock and waterfront area-swimming was great off the dock & the shallow sandy area was perfect for the dogs and our visiting four yr old nephew. Fire pit & abundant firewood & chairs made for perfect evening fires. As others have said, the new kitchen is incredibly well stocked & a dream to prepare meals= the outside gas grill is also excellent. The week was uncharacteristically hot for the area and the camp has several ceiling fans as well as 2 box fans that made sleeping more comfortable. We made all our own meals but we did get some unexpectedly hot delicious breakfast pastries fresh out of the oven from the nearby Trading Post. Lastly, Maureen was an absolute delight to deal with. She responded quickly to all of my emails, answered all my questions & could not have been more pleasant & accommodating !

Camp Pinecone was wonderful!
My family and friends just spent a week at Camp Pinecone and we loved it! The house was well-equipped and cozy! The decks and dock are wonderful places to spend time. Swimming was wonderful right off the dock, and we were joined by a family of loons and a great blue heron who flew just overhead! We loved hearing the loons at night as well! Use of the canoe was wonderful, and we added kayaks from the marina just across the lake. Also enjoyed being close to village of Saranac as well as the Wild Center in Tupper Lake. We would highly recommend this home to others!

Fantastic Adirondack Experience!
Our stay at the camp was absolutely wonderful. We really loved the place. One thing we noticed, above and beyond every place we’ve stayed in the Adirondacks, was how well stocked and clean the house was. This was a detail that did not go unnoticed. The kitchen was amazing. New appliances, very clean cabinets and drawers, and lots of utensils. New pots & pans, and lots of choices made cooking really easy. My wife noticed everything. Even the fact that you had spices, salt & pepper, paper towels, etc. We really loved how well kept and how well stocked the place was. The welcome bag of s'more supplies was a very nice touch. It reminded us to keep stocking up on our trips to the store. We had s'mores every night. We also loved having carpet in the bedrooms. We’ve stayed at some rustic places years past, but yours felt so comfortable and so cozy – we loved it. The fire ring was the best we have had. We had a fire every single night. The canoes were great – used them constantly. We rented kayaks for a couple days from Hickoks. Fishing was great, either right off the dock, or on the lake and nearby ponds. Canoeing was great. Nearby sightseeing is also great - went to Lake Placid one day for a day trip, which everyone enjoyed.
Our trip was really, really nice and your house was fantastic. We are so glad we discovered you on VRBO.
Positives:
Location
Multiple bathrooms
Fire pit – best one we have had in the Adirondack rentals
Appliances – we are convinced to get Bosch when we renew ours at home!
Cleanliness – very clean house, cabinets, and furniture - cleanest we have seen anywhere in the Adirondacks
Size of bedrooms - very accommodating for our teenagers
Lakes and creeks nearby – lots of great paddling destinations
Hammocks – loved them.
Thanks to the owner - who was really great to work with. This is in our books as a repeat destination. Thanks for the great memories!

Wonderful Family Vacation
Myself, my two grown daughters and their families (grandkids are 4. 6, 9 and 11) rented Camp Pinecone the beginning of July and we are all still talking about what a great time we had. We used the canoes provided everyday along with the kayak and two paddle boards that my daughter brought. The lake was perfect for paddling and exploring and one day we loaded everything up and took a long paddle on the Raquette River - about a 7 mile paddle. We bought a canoe map and the paddling routes are endless. The house was great and looked just like the pictures - completely exceeded our expectations. The house has everything you need. It is also close to a lot of wonderful activities like the Wild Center and Lake Placid. We chose to climb Mt. Arab because it was a perfect hike for all ages but there are other wonderful hikes of varying degrees of difficulty that are nearby. Maureen was wonderful to work with - answered all my questions. I would definitely recommend Camp Pinecone to anyone that wants a great vacation in an absolutely beautiful setting.

Wonderful vacation
My wife, 9 year old daughter and I rented Camp Pinecone the last week of August this year. We're from Philadelphia and it was well worth the drive! We are experienced travelers who have and have vacationed all around the country. Without hesitation I will say that this is one of the best vacations we have ever had. Maureen was an absolute pleasure to work with. The Adirondacks in general are incredibly beautiful. Camp Pinecone is wonderfully serene and comfortable. Sitting on the dock on the lake was so relaxing. The sunsets are beautiful. The house sits on Fish Creek Ponds which is a wonderful mid-sized lake. We loved fishing, swimming and canoeing on the lake. I rented a 17' motor boat and we waterskied and wake-boarded in front of the house. Fish Creek Ponds connects to Upper Lake Saranac and we took the boat exploring on that huge body of water and its many small islands daily. My wife and daughters read by the lake in the two hammocks every morning, evenings were spent by the fire-pit. There are incredible hikes a short drive from Camp Pinecone. The house is very nice, updated, clean and comfortable. I've rented houses everywhere in the US and I this is the first review I have ever written. Just felt compelled to do so. My family had a wonderful vacation.

Wonderful return visit!
Just returned from our second, week long, vacation at Camp Pinecone which we enjoyed as much or even more that last year. We traveled over 12 hours to get there and well worth it. Just a fabulous place to relax and unwind. Fabulous lake front setting, comfortable & very well supplied home and lots to do in the area. We especially enjoyed spending time on the lake and hiking on the many trails in the area. Owners great to work with. Highly recommend.

Perfect Stay!
Our family just returned from a week-long vacation at Camp Pinecone, and we couldn’t be more satisfied with the house, location, and amenities offered there. We are very familiar with Upper Saranac Lake and the ponds at and around Fish Creek, so we knew we would be busy boating, fishing, sailing, canoeing, kayaking and hiking… but until we arrive at a new and unfamiliar vacation rental, we’re never sure what impact that might have on the valuable time our family spends together on vacation. Let me assure you that if you are considering a stay at Camp Pinecone, you will be pleased with its comfortable and quiet setting in the natural beauty of the Adirondacks. Beyond the comfortable beds, quality furniture (inside and outside), fully outfitted kitchen, wonderful gas grill, linens, and all the things that made our stay so leisurely, the waterfront setting is breathtaking. The outdoor decks were perfect for meals… not only for us but also for the chipmunks that enjoyed the peanuts we offered. The dock and adjacent hammocks were favorite places to relax, and the campfire area is THE spot at night (with complimentary well-seasoned firewood!). The dock easily handled our 18’ power boat, and the community boat launch is just down the road. If you are looking for a clean, comfortable place at the doorstep of what is arguably one of the most beautiful areas of the Adirondacks, this is it. We hope to return some day!

PERFECT GET AWAY FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY!
We just spent a week at Camp Pinecone with our two adults sons and their wives. What a wonderful experience. The house was larger than it appeared in the photos, especially the bedrooms. The living/kitchen/dining areas are open and make it great for everyone to be together. The gas fireplace was used every morning and evening. We have rented many houses from NC, to Florida, to WV and one other in the Adinrondacks. Camp Pine Cone definitely has the best setting of all. The level yard leads right to the deck and the lake. The deck was large enough for all of us to gather and was the perfect spot for evening fishing. Many fish were caught and some were even large enough to keep. We rented a fishing boat witha small engine and two kayaks across the lake at Hickocks. They more than served our needs. We used the canoes and would have rented the kayaks and another fishing boat on Friday, but it rained. So we stayed inside and played cards looking out the windows at the lake with our indoor fireplace going. It doesn't get much better than that. Had the best ice cream ever on the way to Lake Saranac. Don't remember the name of the place, but is is a little building with no seating at the corner of 186/86. We brought home two quarts and they were gone that evening. Took side trips to Lake Placid, White Face Mountain and some took hikes. We would do it again. The camp was fully equipped, including firewood for the incredible firepit that we kept going every evening. If you are looking for some peace and quiet and a lot of fun, this is the place. Having three bathrooms was a big plus. They were all nice. Oh, swimming was great with the sandy beach and steps from the dock.

Camp pinecone was better than advertised!
We spent a week at camp pinecone and had an absolute blast! All the comforts of home in a spectacular adirondack setting! Everything from fishing (I caught an 18" smallmouth bass right off the dock!) to canoeing, to swimming, to camp fires and s'mores! Never a dull moment, and couldn't have been more pleased with everything. You can boat and canoe to several different lakes and ponds from the property as well. The kids loved every minute. Kinda nice to get those electronics out of their hands and let them just explore nature. There were no surprises with the house, unless you count the shock when we saw just how spacious the house was. We were all extremely comfortable! Will definitely be coming back for another stay. Btw, the owners were fantastic to deal with, they took care of everything, right down to a gift bag on the table when we arrived full of all the fixings for s'mores!

Great camp
This camp was exactly as described. There were no "surprises". It was clean and had all the conveniences we needed for a relaxing week stay. Fish off the dock or just read a book. The sunrises and sunsets were the best - just sitting on the dock with a cocktail in the late afternoon was just what the doctor ordered. The camp is on Fish Creek Pond near an outlet to the "big lake" of Upper Saranac. Half hour drive to Placid. The owner was very professional and very good to deal with. Highly recommend this location.

Camp Pinecone - Great Rental
We spent a very nice week at Camp Pinecone with our son, his wife and 3 teenagers. Everything was clean, neat and spacious for our group. Swimming off the dock was a favorite activity, as was sailing, canoeing and fishing. We found many interesting places to visit in the area, such as White Pine Camp, Saranac Lake, Lake Placid, Paul Smiths visitor center and hiking up Arab Mountain.
We would certainly recommend Camp Pinecone to anyone who is looking for a lakeside rental.
