About this apartment rental
Charming one bedroom apartment within walking distance of everything Blowing Rock has to offer. Minimum 28 day rental. It is just 3 blocks from Main Street and 2 1/2 blocks from Bass Lake with 32 miles of hiking trails on the magnificent Cone Estate. Take a leisurely walk around Bass Lake or a brisk hike up to Rich Mountain without having to get in a car. Enjoy the shopping on Main Street and dinner at one of the many fine restaurants in town then have a leisurely walk back to your apartment past the Broyhill park pond, baseball field and swimming pool.
The apartment has a cabin feel with soaring pine ceilings and furnishing that give it a sophisticated look while still comfortable and cozy. The Bedroom has a king sized bed with a large flat screen TV, DVD and sitting area. The living area also includes a TV and DVD player.

Great location - easy walking to downtown Blowing Rock. Nell was very communicative and addressed any needs we had promptly. We enjoyed our stay.

This was our second stay at this property. I was disappointed in the cleanliness as there were multiple cob webs and dust as well as ants. One of the heating units did not work. The furniture needs to be updated as all the tables were wobbly. However, the proximity to the town made us overlook all of this as we love the location of the house. We would stay here again but hope the owners refurbish it in the future.

The host was one of the best we have had. Attentive and communicative. The location is ideal and so convenient to downtown shopping and dining, plus walks at Bass Lake, concerts at Memorial and Broyhill Parks, etc. The architectural design of the interior creates a feeling of space and openness, and the exterior balcony is like a treehouse among the branches of trees. We look forward to future stays at this warm and cozy carriage house apartment.

Absolutely wonderful month of walking downtown BR several times a day, taking our dog for a quick walk around the cute neighborhood, walking to gorgeous Bass Lake and enjoying the beautiful interior of this perfect cabin. Fantastic Month in Blowing Rock
This carriage house in Blowing Rock was the perfect spot to enjoy all that the mountains have to offer during the beautiful month of Oct. It is within walking distance to the town which has many restaurants, shops and a lovely wine bar :-) It is also a 2 min drive to Bass Lake with lots of trails for every level of hiking. The property is exactly as it is pictured and we spent most mornings and evenings on the deck enjoying the quiet and beautiful scenery. Nell was very responsive to any communications. One quick note of caution for anyone with mobility issues, there is a flight of stairs to get into the carriage house and the walk back from town is mostly uphill. However, if that is not an issue, you will LOVE it here - we certainly did!

We enjoyed our stay for June. Plenty of space especially the balcony which are dog, Stella, enjoyed as much as we did. It is convenient to downtown where you can drive or walk. Easy access to park and/or lake for walks. Would like to stay again. Our hosts were very cordial and met all our needs.

Cozy, Clean Carriage House Apartment
This two-room apartment (plus porch) is exactly as pictured. The owner was very responsive. The first night we tried the grill and it didn't work; we bought a canister of propane and it still didn't work. Upon telling the owner, we received a message that a new grill was ordered and would be delivered the next morning (and it was). So we got to enjoy a month of grilling! The location is convenient to town and parks but it is on a hill, a short walk on Rte 221and up a grade as you leave town, which made the walk uncomfortable for us over 70-Floridians who are used to flat! Likewise while the beautiful (but small) Broyhill Park is technically across the street, one has to walk up and down hills and cross the busy Rt 221 to get there. Moses Cone/Bass lake is also close but on the same road which did not feel safe to walk. Nevertheless we enjoyed all that there was to do in the area and our stay was very pleasant.

I had a great relaxing 3 month stay in Blowing Rock. The apartment is in an excellent location and having the garage is a real plus, especially in snowy weather. The apartment is very roomy and beautifully furnished. Nell and Dave are very accessible hosts . I would definitely stay again.

A quaint and charming escape in Blowing Rock
I fell in love with this charming carriage house the minute I walked in. It was like living in a super comfortable treehouse. While it felt remote, it is within walking distance to downtown Blowing Rock, so it's easily accessible to restaurants, bars, and shops. The owners -- Nell and Dave -- are very friendly and extremely attentive to your needs. I stayed in this lovely "home away from home" for three months and hoped to stay longer, but it was already rented to someone else. I will definitely recommend this place to my friends, and I'd happily come back any time. Highly recommended. A++

Perfect Treehouse
Charming, comfortable, roomy garage apartment in a residential neighborhood. Location was perfect for walking into town or Bass Lake for a walk or a hike up to the Moses Cone House. Our hosts are lovely people and quickly responded to our requests. Highly recommend this charming apartment. Also, we were very comfortable shopping and eating in town, as Blowing Rock has enforced Covid19 regulations in place.

Great Carriage House Apartment
Writing a review of Nell Kline's VRBO in Blowing Rock is easy because there are nothing but nice things to say about it. The carriage house apt. is attractive with a comfortable king size bed in the bedroom, a very nice size living room with a lovely tree top covered porch off it. The kitchen is well laid out with the necessary cooking utensils and the island seats two. There is also a small table, cozily positioned in front of double windows, where one can watch all the activity down below. Nell was quick to resolve any problems, and she is an excellent resource for Blowing Rock and the surrounding area. The apt. also has a full car garage, which came in handy as we had moved boxes up for a house in town we had just bought. We loved the location, as the neighborhood is beautiful and a great place to walk our two dogs. Also, we were close to downtown and Bass Lake, where we walked regularly. We enthusiastically recommend this property as it is the perfect combination of comfort and location.

Nell and Dave are great hosts and the apartment was lovely. Its prime location for walking to town, parks etc was superb and the neighborhood was delightful. Yet one feels secluded from the busy areas and traffic due to high hill setting. This also affords one tremendous morning views from the kitchen/dining area as well as the comfortable porch. An experience which I hope to repeat in the near future!!

Hideaway in Blowing Rock
Loved staying at this secluded house in the trees with very easy access. Beautiful architecture and very artfully done decor. So nice to be able to walk into town to eat and shop and even to Bass Lake at Cone manor if we chose to. We will come again and putting this one on my favorites list!

Magical Retreat in the Mountains
I didn't want to return home! This rental was perfect in every way -- a comfortable, cozy place to stay (it actually felt larger than I thought it would be from the pictures), peaceful surroundings, and accommodating hosts. Downtown was w/in walking distance for excellent dining and shopping, and there were SO many beautiful places to hike just a short drive a way. I'd never spent a whole month of vacation in one place before, but thanks to the ideal location, I never got bored or restless. The locals were super friendly, yet I also got the chance to get away and rejuvenate. I think my favorite time of day was mornings when sunbeams streamed into the living room and the birds serenaded with their cheerful songs. I also loved looking out the window at night and seeing the soft, twinkly lights of Blowing Rock below. And the stillness blanketing everything on foggy days. Definitely an experience I want to repeat. Thank you for the opportunity, Nell & Dave!

A Cozy spot with a great location
This is a charming home in a charming location. The bed was super comfortable and the gas stove kept the whole place warm with extra atmosphere. Having a garage was a treat given the snowy weather.

Light, airy, and very convenient
We enjoyed a month here in August 2017. The apartment feels much more spacious than the square-footage suggests, because of high ceilings, many windows, and the deck. The bedroom is large and roomy, and the king bed is quite comfortable. The garage held our SUV, bicycles, and luggage with ease. It was wonderful to walk out the door and over to Bass Lake, with the lovely open water and access to carriage trails at Moses Cone. The location just 2 blocks from Main Street is also a plus.
The shower is quite small, as the owners acknowledge in their property description. Nell and Dave were very pleasant to work with, and Dave provided a couple of missing items in the kitchen when we asked. We would definitely look into staying here again if the opportunity arises.

A little place with all that one could want.
Blowing Rock is a destination for many. This VRBO is a perfect place to enjoy all that Blowing Rock has to offer. Walk to Main Street. Enjoy being close to all the shops, restaurants, etc. Not often does one also get the use of a garage with their unit. We have booked this VRBO for next September. Already missing the charm of the place and the nice owners who want to make one feel Right At Home.

Best vacation ever!
Our time at this location proved to be one of the best vacations we've ever had. The property is exactly as pictured. A charming place to stay with all that we needed. It was like being in an adorable tree house that looked out onto the beautiful mountains. The location was wonderful - we walked each morning to the Cone Park for beautiful hikes and then into town each night for dinner and ice cream at Kilwin's. Everything about the property was comforting and enabled us to fully recharge our batteries. We were most appreciative of all this place had to offer. Diane A.
