About this house rental
Our newest addition to the vacation rental market in Ajijic is a one bedroom, 2 story modern home that is located just 200 feet from the Malecon Park (on the shores of Lake Chapala). This eclectic glass and steel home has a ground floor patio with BBQ, wet bar and dining area (all outside) in a lovely walled in terrace under the shade of one of the gigantic trees. On the first floor there is a built-in table for 4 with a small sitting area as in a studio apartment , modern equipped kitchen and a 1/2 bath for guests (laundry area off the kitchen).
On the second floor you find the bedroom, an office/TV room, a mountain view balcony with Nespreso Coffee maker and wine cooler and of course every room has views of the tree from 270 degrees.
El Nido, which means the 'nest' in Spanish, has ceiling to floor windows on both levels, marble floors downstairs and Mexican cantera stone floors upstairs. A fully electric kitchen with all the accessories for gourmet cooking. Internet (WiFi), Cable TV, Smart TV, purified water, ice maker and solar hot water. We designed El Nido to help you feel like you are in the tree … all the comforts of a 1st class hotel with spaces designed for 1st class casual living. Art works and unique architectural features abound and will leave you with a long memory of your stay in El Nido.
The bedroom has a California King mattress/box spring unit imported from the USA and as in all rooms, a beautiful view of the tree in which you live. Your dressing area is off the bedroom and it is there that you access the small balcony which offers panoramic views of the mountains, the village rooftops, the church steeple and if you're up early enough lovely sunrises over Ajijic every morning!
Complimentary breakfasts every weekend served in your home or at the local restaurants.
The house is located on a very small, tree lined, one way street with no parking allowed, that leads to the Malecon in Ajijic.

My husband and I enjoyed a beautiful six weeks in El Nido. The location is excellent. The decor is beautiful, artistic and easy living. The owners Tom and Ricardo took very good care of us and whatever we needed. They responded to our request quickly and kindly. We're so happy we found them and will return again and again.

This property is exceptional, interesting, well designed, charming and so full of natural light because of the many windows and sky lights. An excellent place to de-stress, relax and just enjoy time. It is within walking distance to a wide variety of shops, galleries, restaurants, the Malecon and the Plaza. You could not find a nicer and more helpful owner than Ricardo.

We enjoyed our stay at the Nest. The house was very well appointed and when we did need something that wasn't there (like a heater for the cooler nights) Richardo and Thom were very accommodating. We found the main floor very cool due to the lack of solar heat as the wall surrounding the place obliterated any sun from entering. The location is fabulous - close to the malecon, plaza and restaurants.
Hot water seemed to take an extraordinary long time to appear and I found the courtyard to be the only disappointment - a bit claustrophobic in size and you had to keep the awning lowered at all times, which didn't help but you needed it to protect the table and chairs from all the bird poop as the birds roosted in the large tree there. Not a very sanitary space. In conclusion the fabulous architecture, decor and functionality of the house help us to overcome it's shortcomings.

We came to Ajijic primarily for dental procedures. The house was in the perfect location to walk to the clinic and also to everything else we needed, restaurants, markets, shops. Being so close to the Malecon was wonderful as well. The house was all we expected, beautifully appointed.

House has everything you need just steps from the malecon and the main street .. Thomas and Ricardo are great hosts who can attend to all your needs pleasantly and efficiently .. we stayed 3 months ( 2 and a half were in their other house next door) and can say we truly enjoyed our entire Ajijic stay.

We loved our stay at El Nido. Extremely well-equipped and impressive decor. Comfortable areas for entertaining, relaxing, and sleeping. And, of course, the Malecon is so close and the Plaza a short walk away. Thanks to Tom and Ricardo for a great experience. Barbara and Phillip. P.S. don't miss an opportunity to visit Chez Charracate Wine Bar for the excellent charcuterie, cheeses and, did we mention, Wine!

Our first impression of the property was "Is all this just for us?" It is a fabulous place! The decor was welcoming and very artistic. We got to choose from: reading books in the living room, eating snacks on the downstairs (outdoor) patio, drinking wine on the small upstairs balcony, watching tv or messing on the computer in the study, to name just a few of the fantastic rooms and amenities of this casa. The bedroom and bathrooms were so cool!
The town of Ajijic is very small, but not so quiet on the weekends. Perfect for us! The owners gave us a free breakfast, and a showing of another place they have available, for next time we visit.
We will definitely stay here again. Thank you so much!

Tom and Ricardo could write a book on how to offer the perfect VRBO experience but El Nido itself is the star. You fall in love with it the minute you walk in the door. Glass and metal meld with organics, original art and sculpture at every turn, the lighting is both natural and planned, and the whole house opens up to allow the sounds and smells of Ajijic to filter in. Every sense is spoken to. It took us 7 days to really see all the thoughtful and creative details that have been installed in this house. (read Doc's review- he explains it well) We just couldn't stop photographing it, let alone the beautiful place that is Ajijic. There is a vibe here that will get right to the bottom of your heart. Oh and bring a few favorite CDs - the sound system on the second floor is fantastic (sans usb port).

El Nido is quirky yet sophisticated. It surpassed all my expectations. This secluded and quiet oasis is just 100 meters from the Malecon and the beautiful green park adjoining Lake Chapala. El Nido is built around a tree and the idea that it's good to constantly surprise the eye. Everywhere you look, there's something different and pleasing: artworks, sculptures, indoor gardens. Stainless steel surfaces combine with brick, glass and wood to create an environment that's unique and relaxing. There's an office/TV room where winter sun floods through skylights. The sumptuous bed and coverings are something you'd expect only in a first class hotel. The kitchen has top of the line appliances and is fully equipped for serious cooks. The bathroom offers first quality towels and robes. El Nido is a perfect place to unwind, to read, relax and watch movies. Several good restaurants are just a short walk away. And Mexico's biggest freshwater lake is just outside your front door, along with a well maintained waterside park. The Malecon is perfect for morning walks or jogging and the water views are nothing short of spectacular. You won't find a better location! You won't find a more interesting house!
