The property was as described, it is an old shack or cabin they had been retrofitted with basic plumbing, electric, and internet.

The shack was stocked with everything we needed and the view of the lake was stunning. We had a great family trip in a great little cabin.

It was a very special cottage right on the lake. We could cook out or go into town to a great restaurant and bar. I swam right from the cottage. Lots to do in the area. Loved it!

It's not primitive, its not the Ritz. It's just right for what you need to get away from it all. It allows you to define your own adventure. Great communication. The little town has the basics of what you need to make your stay memorable. I would stay here again.

Rustic in decor. The Cabin has a bright living room/bedroom area with a day bed and futon. There is no place to put your belongings. You have to be an early riser as the sun comes in and the curtains don't cover the window. There is no coverage on the full glass door either :(. The small bedroom has a comfortable bed. Again, with no place to put your clothing. The dining room/futon bed has a nice table and chairs. Crampted quarters. No more than 4 people at best. We had trouble finding the light switch for the dining room. It's a remote on a post next to the stove! I loved the refrigerator and the gas stove. My only issue was the plates and glasses were in the base cabinet facing the dining room. I'm old and they were difficult to get to. But the kitchen was well stocked. Now the bathroom. Large area with stackable washer/dryer. The shower - not so good. Small and it was difficult to regulate water temperature and shave my legs! My best part of the cabin was the firepit. With the Lake right there and an evening fire, WOW, the best! And Becky provides the wood. Parking is an issue if you're taking a trailer. Overall, wifi works, smart tv works, there are no mice, and no musty smell. The Cabin is pet friendly and at a great location for checking out the sites. I hope this helps.

This is an up north cabin with the amenities you need. CLOSE to lake. I wouldn't try to sleep 8 unless your used to tight sleeping quarters. But my husband and I LOVED this stay. Thank you to Sandra and Jeff for their attentive services!

Overall happy with our stay. We were able to prepare our meals and enjoy Paradise with our pets. Would encourage people to clean up after themselves in the yard area to avoid injuries to others. There were numerous bottle caps and sharp objects in the yard. We used the fire pit once, just wasn’t well maintained and the chairs were in rough shape. Interior was fine just a lot of dirty toss pillows and excess clutter that made the place feel smaller. The Shack sits very close to the Bay with rocks and a drop to the water so must be careful when walking out the back door and the front is right off a busy highway.

Lake is right out back door if you looked out back window felt like your on house boat, my family enjoyed this little cabin so much best place get away and be with nature.

While the weather didn't behave the whole week ( it was rainy and misty), the cabin was warm and cozy. The rain found a way to cause a leak but the property manager was quick to respond and help.
It was a perfect size for 3 adults and 1 child. Had there been more adults, it would have felt cramped.
The view was exactly as described and the outdoor sitting area was perfect, even with the foggy lake.
We would definitely visit again - hopefully the weather will cooperate better next time.

The online pics were slightly misrepresentative of the actual space and cleanliness of the property. Lots of mouse droppings and dead mouse smell. Even if you could sleep 8 (tightly), where would they all stand/sit? On the upside, great location, lots of firewood, working appliances and a nice area outside by the water.

Good morning Paradise! The Shack has everything a person neess who needs to get away for some R&R. Energizing sunrises, relaxing adirondack chairs, lulling lake waves, cozy campfires, and calming sunsets. This was perfect for a solo female traveler and her dog, a insanely water-loving, crazy ball-chasing yellow lab.

Loved it! Right on Lake Superior. A very cute rustic cabin. Perfect for us 2 and our 2 fur babies. I would stay again. Only 1 issue, when you use the shower, you get a smell of what smells like sewer gasses. Husband thought it's not draining right.

Beautiful area
The property is situated such that you have a gorgeous view of the lake from everywhere in the house! Cabin is very clean. Property owner was very quickly responsive when I had a Wifi question. Great experience overall. Must go to Oswald’s bear rescue a short drive from the cabin.

Paradise....in many ways!!
A very cute little cabin literally right on the shore of Whitefish Bay, very quaint with everything we needed for a week long stay. We used this as our home base and saw many sights in the area and enjoyed some fall colors. Enjoyed the firepit in the evenings sipping a favorite beverage and toasting marshmallows overlooking the water with freighters in the far distance. Oh, did I mention the stars!!!!!!! Not many places to eat open in the area, not sure if it is seasonal or lack of finding workers or both. A very small with limited stock grocery store, but we made do just fine. Found everything we needed in the kitchen to do some cooking with the groceries we brought. The log cabin is authentic and on the older side with a fairly recent facelift. That being said it does have musty smell but we just cracked a couple windows and you adjust to it. Yes, it did come with a pet mouse, but he never bothered us and only saw him scurry across the bathroom floor twice, that was the only evidence of him we saw. The cabin would only sleep 6 and that is if y'all were very friendly, but there was just 2 of us so it was just fine. The main bed is a foam mattress which was not comfortable for my older back but made due with the other bed available. The cabin is quite crowded and full of many items so not a lot of room to store your stuff, and no place to hang clothing but overall a nice place for some downtime and enjoying the beauty of the area.

You Can't Get Any Closer To Whitefish Bay!
This is our second time staying here. "The Shack" is a cute, rustic log cabin with age & character. It may not be for everyone though. Considering its' age, you may have to deal with an occasional mouse, spider or cabin funk that comes with age, but for us & adventurous types, it's the perfect escape just feet from the water decorated so cutely and close to Whitefish Point, Tahquamenon Falls & everything outdoors. We would stay all the time if we could!

Truly Paradise
The Shack was an easy place to find. The outside setup is perfect. Inside The Shack for us was comfort. Everything you need, and a warm feeling of home. The mornings were heaven. Drinking coffee and enjoying the gorgeous view. I would definitely stay again.

This was our first VRBO rental. The location was amazing, and outdoor area was mostly very nice. We loved playing corn hole, being right on the lake, and the sunrises were spectacular. The description of “modern cabin” is accurate in that there is electricity, running water, a ceiling fan, and appliances. There is no A/C or heat, so the temp outside is pretty much the temp inside, and on a warm day, the inside is even hotter. Also, the doors do not close all the way, and are not weather-stripped, so there are mice (which we saw running around) and other pests in the cabin. When we arrived the place was filthy; we expected some “lake dampness and smell”, but it smelled like no one had been in it for months, there was sand all over the floor and there were cobwebs in every room, complete with a layer of grime on the stove. We were shocked to look in the guest book and find it has been occupied most of this summer. It clearly was not cleaned well after previous guests, and the linens or mattresses on the bunk beds smell very musty. The bathroom and kitchen counter and table had been wiped down at least. We washed every dish utensil, pot, and pan before and after using, as those weren’t terribly clean either. Next time I will surely ask more questions before paying this kind of money for a rental.

Super cute cottage with perfect location on the water. Bring food and necessities because town has very little to purchase.

Amazing Getaway
We stayed here with our adult kids who were visiting Michigan and it was wonderful! The views are spectacular and the property has so much to offer! You are literally 5 feet from Lake Superior and 10 minutes from whitefish point. We would definitely stay here again!

Great week!
We spent four nights. Perfect location! Great property with plenty of extras - cornhole, many board games, plenty of chairs around the campfire. Becky was very responsive to messages through the process. We hope to return to this property again!

Paradise on Superior
We had a great time being in this cute cabin, literally 5 ft. from the shore of Lake Superior!! We were in awe of the beauty of the lake! Beautiful family time with campfires, bean bag toss, board games and a few brave souls who swam in the frigid water of the lake! We enjoyed this and also the Vermillion Beach where rock collecting was wonderful! Thanks Becky for a great time here😊!

Beachy Cabin Vibes - So cute - conveniently located and RIGHT on beautiful Lake Superior!
Our family of 5 plus our dog had a great time here. The cabin location is very conveniently located to nearby necessities and cconvenient comforts of town, yet removed enough from neighbors that we felt completely on our own and peaceful while at the cabin, enjoying sunrises, sunsets and lake breezes, the adorable campfire area, or just relaxing inaide

Adorable little getaway with the family
Stayed 4 nights June 2019. The pictures are very accurate. Perfect location. All of the beds are very comfortable. The kitchen was well appointed. The outdoor seating around the fire pit was great. We really enjoyed the binoculars and watching the freighters go by. There is website that you can find that shows where the ships are in real time so you know when to look for them. A few tips for travelers to this cabin. This year the bugs are very bad so bring bug spray with you. Stop in a bigger town for groceries. There is a small country store that has essentials but it is a bit overpriced. Bring some sort of fire starter. Be sure to eat at Browns, they have the best walleye and whitefish I have ever had. Thanks again for everything Becky. Our family had a memorable stay and enjoyed the UP!

tranquility at its finest
I count myself one of the fortunate ones who have had the pleasure to stay at the Shack. I have stayed here recently, 2 weeks in July and also in October 2018. As mentioned in previous posts, you will want for nothing in this perfectly thought out cabin. The shack is exceptionally clean, comfortable and spacious. Charming decor and a beautiful thought out full kitchen is a definite plus. The master bed is the most comfortable bed I have slept on. I contacted Becky the owner to get details on manufacture name and model for ordering one for my home! The outdoor entertainment area with bar, seating, fire pit , hammocks and full size gas grill all face magnificent Lake Superior. The morning sunrises here are exceptional. Convenient seating just outside the door allows you to privately enjoy your early morning coffee. Fall in the U.P. can be cool at times, the Shack also has a lovely gas fireplace and supplies plenty of blankets to keep you toasty warm. I have been vacationing in Paradise for over 10 years, this by far is the best treasure I have found yet to date. I cannot wait to plan my vacations for 2019.

Not for cool weather
The location is amazing, the log cabin is very cute. The owner is very nice and answers questions immediately. We thought it would be a cozy fall getaway, but I do not recommend for cool weather. The heat is via “ventless” gas fireplace and as a result it smells like gas inside. Bring your own pillows if you’re particular about such things. The bed was quite uncomfortable.

Adorable waterfront cabin, but no beach.
I loved staying here and loved having the water right outside my door. This was my "home base" while I spent the week exploring the UP. The only thing that was a bit bothersome was the moldy smell. It's very difficult to avoid that, especially in older buildings so it's to be expected but if anyone considering staying here has a real mold allergy this would not be a good fit. Otherwise, it was great!

Wonderful! Hope to return in the near future.
We so enjoyed our stay at the Shack is Paradise! The cottage was just as cute as depicted on the VRBO site. It was also very clean, well stocked with all the necessary items for our stay and included many other wonderful amenities-- such as outside games, a wonderful fire pit right by the lake and comfy hammocks! There was even a TV with many viewing options for those rare, rainy times when we decided to stay in for the afternoon and/or evening. My husband and I hope to return in the near future.

Stunning lake views from a historic log home.
The Shack was more than we expected it to be. The inside is decorated nicely, it is supplied with most kitchen supplies you need, it has a very nice outside gas grill, and there is plenty of outdoor things to do so you can spend ample time looking at lake Superior. There is even stairs to the lake if you want to wade, float or take a cold swim. This area is gorgeous too, being close to Tuaquamenon Falls and Whitefish Point, and worth exploration! Most importantly, you can eat the best fresh fried fish in Paradise at Brown's Fishery. GO! You will be highly satisfied!
We hope to one day return to The Shack and explore more of what the UP has to offer!

Quaint Cozy Cabin
We loved our stay at The Shack! Late October is always iffy on the Great Lakes but we were treated to a wide variety of weather events...from gale force winds on Lake Superior to October morning snow to rainbows over Whitefish Bay! This cozy cabin kept us toasty warm and gave us front row seats to the weather spectacle that is Superior! The owner, Becky, was ever so helpful and our stay at The Shack proved to be a magical experience from our Crisp Point Light adventure to moose on the Whitefish Bay Scenic By Way...we had a fabuloso time!!

Amazing views
Overall the stay was good. The views were amazing & the location in the middle of all to see & do. Becky, the owner, was quickly responsive to our questions & needs. She' seems very helpful. The cottage needs a bit of updating with regards to the stove/oven, mattresses, coffee pot, & overall amenities. A $1000 in upgrades would do well in improving the comfort of the stay.

Loved the cabin. Location is awesome right on Lake Superior. Close to state parks, canoeing, hiking.
My family and I stayed at the cabin for a week. I wish it could have been longer. We had a wonderful time swimming in the lake, making a camp fire in the yard, and going on daily expeditions. When we first arrived I was disappointed to see that the cabin was so close to the road, this turned out not to be a problem since all the traffic seemed to occur during the day. Cabin is 8.5 miles from Whitefish point which is a tourist attraction. The only way to get there is to drive past the cabin. The cabin was really cute! Loved our stay. And can't wait to go to the Great Lakes again.

Pure Paradise
We chose to stay here because of it's central location to Mackinac Island, Sault Ste. Marie, and the Pictured Rocks. It was our first time in the UP, and we wanted to hit some of the major "attractions". This cottage was the perfect home base for our week. It felt a bit like you were camping, but with the more modern amenities that make constant day trips a bit easier. We explored somewhere new each day, and really looked forward to heading back to the cottage for dinner, a campfire, s'mores and the relaxing lake view. The night sky left us all speechless. We loved kayaking the Tahquamenon River and hiking all over the place. The cottage itself had all the basic necessities and felt very homey. By the end of our stay, we didn't want to head back home. If you have food allergies or special dietary needs, I'd plan on bringing most of your groceries with you. The local stores may leave you a bit uninspired. We will definitely be staying here again!

Rustic Lake Cabin
This cabin is exactly as described. Cozy. Rustic. Well appointed. Comfortable. A true get away. We had the entire area to ourselves. Very private. Paradise, MI is a tiny dot on the map with very few shopping options. So bring your favorite staples. There are multiple attractions within a few miles: tahquamenon falls, whitefish point. I recommend kayaking the Two Hearted River. Nice river for novices. Brown's Fishery: absolutely amazing! We had to go back for a second time before we left. We will likely use this cabin again in the future.
