If you're dreaming of a relaxing, waterfront vacation home in the San Juan Islands, this rental house on Lopez Island might be perfect for you! It features a private sauna, deck overlooking Mackaye Harbor, a large yard with a fire pit, and the sandy shores of the harbor, which are just 50 feet away from the doorstep!
Lopez Island is the third-largest of the San Juan Islands, and it is a particularly quiet and rural area. This home is on the southwestern end of the island, so you can fully enjoy the amazing view of the harbor. Most of the restaurants, shops, galleries, and cafes on this island are about 10 miles north, so you can enjoy the peaceful 15-minute drive into town while marveling at the spectacular scenery.
You'll feel right at home in the charming, comfortably decorated house. The beautiful kitchen has everything you may need to whip up a hot breakfast or leisurely dinner, though you might prefer to eat outside on the huge deck or even picnic-style on the beach! The living room is a great space to play some board games, bring a DVD to watch, use the WiFi, or just sit in front of the wood stove and chat. With two bedrooms (each with a queen-size bed, plus a futon in the living room) and two and a half bathrooms, this house accommodates up to six guests.
But make sure you check out the private sauna! After working up a sweat, feel free to sit outside on the deck in the gentle breeze to watch sailboats go by. When nighttime is near, make sure you leave time to watch the incredible sunset over the harbor. During the day, you may decide to wade through the water, start a fire in the fire pit, or leave the house and adventure through the area either on foot, by bicycle, or in a car. You could even go for a walk on a scenic trail and look for wildlife--orcas are known to pass by the islands during the summer!
This comfortable and warm home is an ideal place to stay while enjoying the San Juan Islands. You will be well-rested and ready to explore charming-and-rural Lopez Island or take a ferry to other nearby islands.
If a quiet, relaxing and homey waterfront house is your idea of a perfect vacation property, the Beach House on Lopez Island is waiting for you!

Enjoyed our stay. Close to private beach and public beaches minutes away. Mostly updated living space.

The place felt just like home. We enjoyed our late afternoons/evenings watching the sunset from the deck. It’s a quiet location (especially in September) and we slept great!

A beautiful, peaceful location, a well-appointed, spacious home ... what more do you need for the perfect getaway?
We appreciated the property manager's communications leading up to, and during, the trip.
All in all, we wish we'd been able to stay longer.

The beach house is beautiful and cozy, the views spectacular. We loved our stay, except it was too short! The place is beautifully cared for and we felt that.

Location is terrific. Just walk across the street to put your paddleboard in. Couple mile walk to Iceberg Point. Sunsets were wonderful. Very comfortable well stocked house. We would like to come back.

Absolutely perfect getaway for our crew of 5. You can’t go wrong with this gem of a place and a location. Right down the road from Iceberg Point — our favorite spot on the island — and close enough to the downtown area but with seclusion and ample privacy. Huge front lawn area for lawn games and relaxation. We will definitely be back!

This house was more spacious and inviting than the pictures showed. The kitchen was well stocked and the host was responsive to any needs we had. The view from the house was amazing. There is even a sauna that we don't remember being advertised! You get your own private beach and are close to some of the best parts of the island (Shark Reef, Iceberg Point, Point Colville, plus everything else on the island is less than 20 min away).
The only real complaint was that there wasn't wood provided for the wood stove. This isn't a big deal, but if a stove is advertised, it's sure nice to have at least a little wood provided or to be upfront about needing to bring our own.

Comfortable home in a perfect location
Spacious home located in a quiet and beautiful location on Mackaye Bay. Home is light filled and comfortable. Easy access to nearby trails and an easy drive to other picturesque locales and downtown Lopez.

Jan and Ingrid's home is a special place. The view is outstanding, perfect to have a cup of coffee on the porch in the morning. Mackaye Harbor is also a great place to paddleboard, play on the beach, or dig up geoducks. We also saw otters playing on the beach! Access to outdoor activities in Iceberg Point and Agate Beach is great, and you can get to the more commercial parts of the island very easily.
We had an unforeseeable hiccup during our stay, and both Vacasa and Ingrid and Jan were very helpful and accommodating. We would highly recommend staying with them.

WOW... I'm so RELAXED!!!
We just spent the most beautiful weekend at this property. My friend and I wanted to do a girls weekend away, and it was wonderful. The property had everything we needed, and if we needed something else... it wasn't far away. Lopez Island is awesome! Especially if you are looking to work the kinks out of your shoulders and the stress off of your face. It's not a touristy place... pretty rural actually. We brought most of our groceries, etc. with us when we travelled. The ferry was easy, but make sure you make a reservation and buy your tickets on line. The tickets are round trip, so you don't have to pay additional to get back to the mainland. Be advised... cell phones don't work in most places on the island. Good idea to have a map with you when you travel. Your phone nav isn't going to get you where you need to go. Take the trip... enjoy the scenery & most of all... Enjoy the fine hospitality this house bestows on you. It was the best!!!

Perfect island getaway
This house has everything you need and more! The kitchen was clean and well equipped, the beds were comfortable and there is even a sauna. Plenty of lounging space indoors and on the deck overlooking Mackaye Harbor. Games, movies, Netflix, birding books to keep you busy during your stay. The South End Store is around the corner and has everything you need if you forgot something or want to make dinner.

Quiet Getaway with Everything you need
We stayed here during Labor Day weekend. Location was lovely and the house is incredibly cozy. It had everything we needed.
However there were a few things that could have used some extra care.
1. The bedroom was still filled with someone else’s clothes.
2. The first night we were freezing and we then realized that the master bedroom patio door was wide open from either the cleaning crew or the last guest. We first couldn’t tell because the blinds were closed
3. This was a bit dangerous; the outdoor grill was still on when we arrived. We noticed when we smelled then propane outside. The fire was still lit.
4. Different modes of communication and invalid emergency contact and non-responsiveness. I tried to contact the number that was provided in the check-in email but the number was not valid. Vacasa, who I believe helps them manage the vacation home told me early check in was available by 1 pm but then received a text message from someone’s personal email address stating that check in was a different time. When we arrived at the home there was a different contact number for questions, but the person did not respond to my call or my voicemail.
Overall it was a great location and home but support could have been better and better safety checks.

The Perfect Quiet Escape
Our family of 4 absolutely loved our stay at the Beach House on Lopez Island. Our first trip to the island was perfect and the house felt like home immediately. The house was spotless, fully stocked and well prepared. There were so many simple, little things that made us appreciate the house even more. Already recommended the house to others.

Wonderful house
We’ve used quite a few rental homes up to now and this was one of our favorites, if not actually THE favorite! It is tastefully decorated, it’s in a beautiful setting, with access to a private beach and a lush green lawn. The terrace is the perfect place to view the sunset or just to enjoy some sunshine. Our family of four loved it there and would recommend the place to anyone looking for a quiet and peaceful escape.

Wonderful view, lovely home
Beautiful, well-equipped family home on one of Lopez's most beautiful bays. Very communicative owner. We like staying on the South End near our daughter, with spectacular walks and picture-perfect farms. The Southend Store has everything you need, including the iconic Barn Owl bread!

Lovely and spacious. Great hosts.
Our family really enjoyed our stay. Home is better appointed than most rentals. Master bed was very comfortable. Nothing shabby here! Only suggestion: move breakable dishes from the bakers rack--we bumped the rack and some things got broke. Love this place!!

Beautifully loved home with a million dollar view!
This was a wonderful home to stay at! It was very well kept, clean, comfortable, had everything we needed for our stay. The location can no be beat, right on a private, quite beach. We took our kayaks out and had a baby seal swim along side of us! There were deer, birds, bald eagles, and the fish were even biting with in steps of the from door. The deck provided comfortable seating for our large family to watch the sunset. We would stay at this home again in a heart beat in any season!
