The mountain chalet is a 3 level home and has 3 bedrooms and 2 full baths
• 1st floor Master bedroom has a King and full bath
• 2nd floor master has queen and full bath

It doesn’t get prettier than this. One of our guests, described Watauga Lake as Lake Geneva in the NorthEast corner of Tennesee. Our house sits atop of the mountains in Appalachia at 4500 feet. Because we are in the Cherokee National Forest, there are very few homes on the lake which makes the views prettier than normal. In addition, the lake gets warm early in the season. You can swim from April through late October. It is a short walk to the private marina and gazebo, where there is a private covered marina; Fish Springs will bring a rental boat to an open slip for you if you'd like or you can bring one yourself. In the winter, it is an amazing home located 20 miles from a handful of skiing mountains including Sugar, Beech, and Appalachian. Our home, completed in late November 2009, looks like something straight out of a movie with driftwood trees inside the house as well as indoor and outdoor water falls. You can be busy every minute, or simply sit by the water's edge and relax.

Had a wonderful time with children and grandchildren in the cabin and on the lake!

The cabin was very nice. It was nice having the dock area to use for swimming and fishing. We enjoyed sitting outside under the covered deck because of the rainy week we had. The owner had contacted me several times to see how things were going. Plenty of room for every and we would definitely stay there again in the future.

We enjoyed our stay but it was misleading saying a short walk to the private deck . We enjoy walking but with a group that wasn’t considered a short walk and then inclines . We ended up driving up the road a ways and swimming at the lake . The house is perfect and host stayed in touch . We enjoyed our stay . Thank you

We have stayed in this home several times over the past few years and had to leave this trip 3 nights earlier than expected because I received a call that my mother was dying. We spent several hours cleaning the house before we left and I notified the owner we were leaving. He sent me messages saying that we could book make up days 5 days after we left. 7 days after we left it appears his cleaner showed up and blamed us for trashing the house, and said we had animals in the home which was untrue. The day after my mom died he decided to write a nasty review and sent photos that appear to be a rodent that got in his home some time after I left and before the cleaner arrived. He then accused me of leaving guests behind after we left. Completely outraged after so many good years visiting this home.

Pros:
We were amazed at the detail and workmanship in the cabin.
The cabin was almost perfect for our stay.
At one point, we had 6 adults and 4 children under the age of 5 staying in the cabin. We all had plenty of room and thoroughly enjoyed our time together.
Tom responded to several issues at check-in in a timely manner.
The flowering planters were a nice touch!
We saw lots of wildlife, including a family of black bears.
The fire pit was perfect for s’mores and family memories.
The grill was very convenient and we used it often.
The rockers, hammock and outdoor games were welcomed.
The directions Tom gave made it easy to find the cabin.
We are very glad to have had the boat slip available and thankful that Tom suggested reserving a boat early.
The lake is absolutely gorgeous as we spent most days on/in it!
Cons:
We arrived about 30 minutes after check-in time, as requested by Tom, and contractors were still working and worked for another hour or so.
Upon arrival, we found the refrigerator, freezer, oven, and general living areas in need of a good cleaning.
There was no vacuum available for guests. (The housekeeper left hers for our use!)
During our month long stay the construction crew showed up at the cabin twice, once with a two hour notice and one time without any notice. We found this to be an inconvenience.

Beautiful home in a beautiful location
Tom was very responsive and helpful during our stay. The cabin was beautiful and the location was great. We have four kids and there was plenty of room for us. Most relaxing vacation we have had in years.

Beautiful as always
This was the third year that we have stayed in this beautiful cabin. My family and I love it. We usually stay at the lake more but this year we just relaxed and enjoyed the cabin. The hot tub is amazing, the scenery is gorgeous. The cabin had everything that we needed including peace and quiet. It is so comfy and just feels like home. Tom is a wonderful host and checks to make sure you’re checked in and made it safely. We have never had an issue staying there so there has never been a need to reach out to him. The cabin is clean, well equipped, and just everything that my family and I need for a week away.

Beautiful property with so many elegant touches. The trees inside are such a unique addition. Very comfortable for 2 families. Our teen loved the loft. It feels like you’re in your own little world.

Great view, lots of activities, good for all ages!
Visited The area for the first time with other family members from around the US. First, the lake and mountains are gorgeous. The house gave us beautiful views looking over the trees. A little hilly 5 min. walk directly to the water/dock which we didn’t mind (or you can drive and park). Property owner helped direct us to pontoon rentals and fishing charters that were excellent. We had a pontoon rented for two days and were able to just keep it overnight at the properties dock and tie it up there instead of returning it and picking it up again. Although only 10 of us stayed there,, the ample table/counter seating allowed us to have our family staying in another house over for meals which meant we could all catch up over food and drinks! Definitely recommend shopping at grocery store about 30 min. Away and cooking as restaurants have limited hours and family time with large groups seemed better anyway. Kayaks and peddle boat put to use multiple times. Lake Watuaga was beautiful with an interesting history. Had some minor problems with hot tub but the owner responded immediately and we resolved it the first day. With several areas to hang, adults could catch up while kids did their kid thing. Girls stayed in the upstairs bedroom/loft which they loved as their little hideaway. Locals were super friendly. Also did caving with Appalachian Underground which I highly recommend.! Would def stay here again!

It was a comfortable stay
House was beautiful, beautiful views, comfortable beds, amenities were great except issues with hot tub. Little disappointed house wasn't cleaned very well, had to clean kitchen and bathrooms. Dryer wasn't working and Tom was great, had it replaced as quickly as he could.

great rental at Watuga Lake
The cabin is beautiful and well maintained. communication with Tom the property manager was excellent. It’s a short walk down to the boat ramp. Definitely recommend a boat rental for the duration of your stay. Very relaxing and listing just as described. The hot tub didn’t work even after calling people to look at it which was kind of a bummer but all in all a great vacation!

Gorgeous and peaceful!
We stayed at Whispering Pines last year and we fell in love with it. We stayed again this year because our kids as well as my husband and myself just loved it so much. Our only complaint is that we had to leave lol. Tom checks in and is an amazing host. There is so much to do at the cabin. Hot tub, foosball table, board games, Wii, movies and more. Just a short walk to the lake and there is two canoes that we enjoyed so much. Fishing, swimming or just relaxing on the beautiful lake! Like I said, this is the second year we have bee and we do plan on going back every year!

Absolutely Perfect
My family of 7 (3 adults and 4 children 9-16) had an amazing week in this unique and beautiful home away from home. The layout is perfect for time spent together or quiet moments alone. It is uniquely and beautifully decorated, spacious but cozy. Outside is just as amazing with a beautiful view of the mountains and landscape. Sitting on the deck or rocking with the sound if the waterfall or an early morning rain was so relaxing and we had a fawn visit each morning. Roasting marshmallows and grillers on the fire, Corn Hole and Kayaking were favorites. The night sky here is just beautiful and great photo opportunities. If you love the water and nature you have to experience Silver Pines, and Watauga Lake you will not be disappointed. Just make sure to reserve a boat early. The experience was great from booking to checkout. Tom is a fantastic host, so helpful with quick responses and information and checking to make sure we got in ok. Very thoughtful. We had no problems with anything, very clean and beds were very comfortable. We just can't say enough good things about this "Little Slice of Heaven" as Tom called it, amazing week!

Treehouse in the Woods
The house was creatively built to fit into the woods it is located in. The three floors with multiple sleeping options was a perfect fit for our multigenerational family gathering. We enjoyed the lake, the owner’s kayaks and the hot tub. We had missed Thanksgiving with each other so prepared a Thanksgiving dinner in July. The kitchen was perfect for celebrating what we had missed during the pandemic. The host was responsive and helpful. I highly recommend this property

Fun Family Getaway
The house was perfect. The main bedroom was in the lowest level which actually ended up being great! There is a room on the top floor with 2 twin beds and a twin mattress in a lofted area, it’s super cute and the boys loved playing up there! Our boys are 10, 8 & 4 and they felt nervous sleeping in this top level room with us 2 floors away and it is noticeably warmer than the 2 main levels. They all 3 decided to sleep together in the queen bed on the main floor, it was adorable and pretty perfect listening to their giggles from down the steps. We liked the hot tub, used the fire pit a couple nights, came home with clean laundry… it was great. It is in a pretty rural area of TN. We found it took about 40 minutes to drive various directions for hikes and restaurants, beautiful drives though!

surpassed expectations
Tom was a superb host, accessible and responsive as we planned our trip to make the most of our time on the lake. The cabin was perfect for 2 families to share. We loved making s’mores at the fire and walking to the marina to launch the kayaks and dock our boat rental. The house was thoughtfully stocked. Small community of very friendly and helpful neighbors. The views were amazing on the decks.

Beautiful, relaxing
We really enjoyed our stay. The house is just as pictured/described. It's well-decorated and felt like home. Our kids (5 and 8) really liked the upstairs bedroom! We walked down to the dock once with the kids to fish, but it was a challenge for the 5 year old to make it back up (she did but lots of complaints). I'd not recommend trying to carry all of your beach/boat stuff down if you have small children. We were able to park the car outside of the gate at the dock instead but there is only really one spot down there. Not a problem though as I think owners can park inside the gate.
The lake is absolutely beautiful. We rented a pontoon from Fish Springs Marina and would highly recommend that marina specifically. We ate at Butler Trading Post twice and it is good. Maddy Moe's pizza is good, too (takeout only). The subs at Cove Ridge Marina are excellent. Be smart and plan your meals out on the weekend and cook during the week as most of the restaurants are closed during the week.
Like previous renters have mentioned, you do need 4 wheel drive to make it up the driveway but then again, I wouldn't expect anyone without it to try to stay somewhere in the mountains, yikes! Tip: take the time to turn around on the gravel landing before heading up the hill to the house rather than making a hard left turn straight up.

Best family vacation in a long time
The house is amazing! We had a group of 8 with us, 4 adults, 2 toddlers and 2 kids ages 8 and 9. The house fit us perfectly my fiance and I in the downstairs bedroom with my toddler in the pack n play (provided at property), the other adults in the bedroom on the 2nd floor and all the kids in 3rd floor bedroom and loft which is perfect for kids. We cooked most nights in the house and the kitchen was very well stocked. We loved the hot tub and fire pit as well the house is so big and every inch is decorated with creative touches. The TV's were equipped with streaming services and cable, the kids room had a DVD player and DVDs were provided. Everyday we ventured out for an activity, we rented a boat at a nearby lake and fished and swam. Most of the other things were about an hour drive. I can't stress enough how much fun we had the kids couldn't wait to get back to the house everyday! I can't wait to go back we didn't want to leave! The owner was great about communication and answered texts within minutes.

Absolutely Amazing!
The property was absolutely gorgeous! So many unique details for a cabin. Everything was super clean and the owners were fantastic. I won’t ever stay anywhere else when visiting Watauga.

Great getaway
This was a great spring break getaway with my family. The cabin is beautiful and the surrounding area provided lots of relaxation. You'll definitely want a four wheel drive vehicle to get up the steep driveway. The only thing we would have done different is more advance planning on activities in the area. There is lots to do if you don't mind driving short distances.

It's Bristol, baby !
We rented the home for a trip to Bristol races with our family. We loved the location and it matched our expectations of what we saw on the website. The home had all of the conveniences we could have asked for, and the owner was easy to contact with any questions we had. Would recommend this home and would definitely book it again .

It’s Bristol Baby!!!
My family & I found the cabin when we were looking for a place to stay for Bristol Dirt Nationals. It took 45 minutes to get to the track & back, but it was definitely worth it. The home & the owners are wonderful!!! The scenery was breathtaking! When we came home every night from the track there was always deer waiting for us on the mountain, which the kids loved!!! We will definitely be going back!!!

Relaxation!
What a lovely spot! We enjoyed views of the mountains and lake from the hot tub and fire pit. The house was accommodating for 2 families and multiple ages of kids. It was quite magical for the little ones - the loft/hidden area were hits, along with the “outdoors in” feeling with the trees and other decor. There are a few convenience stores and a Dollar General within a 10 minute drive - basics close by. Easy check in process and Tom was more than accommodating. Internet was fine for remote working/schooling.

Great stay
Really enjoyed our time. The location was perfect especially if you are going during lake season. The place was beautiful and well-stocked with everything you would need for your stay. There were plenty of areas to sleep. The hot tub only working 1 out of 3 days was disappointing and keeping the whole house at a consistent temperature throughout wasn’t perfect but even with those minor issues, I would stay there again.

Peaceful retreat.
Owner was very cordial and accommodating. Check in an out procedures clear and easy to understand. Property is beautiful and portrayed accurately. Great amenities and space. Beds were comfortable. Plan ahead as there is not much nearby in terms of shopping, dining which is fine if you just want to relax. Would definitely consider again especially during warm weather to take advantage of activities on the lake.

The Perfect (Pandemic) Family Vacation
Three generations of our family gathered at Whispering Pines for some much-needed time together (and away from it all) in this extended pandemic period. We had the very best time! The location is stunning, the house is both beautiful and beautifully appointed, and owner Tom and property manager Kim could not have been more helpful.
It can be tricky to find the right place for both a seven and 94 year-old, with the rest of us spanning all years in between. Whispering Pines was the perfect fit! A lovely kitchen with everything you might need to make delicious meals, two wonderful dining areas - including one fully covered on the porch (a must-have on our COVID list), comfortable beds in rooms on each floor. Between the porch rockers, cozy fire places, hammocks and swings, and plenty of comfy chairs and couches around the house, we each had enough room to be both together - and to enjoy quiet time alone.
We are already planning our return trip and cannot recommend this lovely home enough.

Beautiful mountain home
Fantastic place to escape from it all!! Beautiful home! So peaceful! Didn’t stay long enough to use the lake but did walk down to it and checked it out. Kayaking would’ve been nice to do since available. Driveway pretty steep since on top of mountain. From Florida that was a little different experience getting up. :)
