OUR ORCHARD
The property has 17 mature and fruit bearing trees and vines. With fruit pickers provided, please enjoy whatever is in season and ready, including lemons, grapefruits, Haas avocados, Bacon avocados, mandarin and navel oranges, clementines, apples, figs, grapes, olives, guavas and pineapples. With beds of aloe, roses, irises, camellias, and many other native plants, the outdoor spaces bloom into a lush retreat while you enjoy the pool, jacuzzi and backyard in the shade or under the SoCal sunshine in the private fenced backyard.
ABOUT MY HOME
This traditional farmhouse was designed by noted Los Angeles architect Robert Byrd and built in 1939. Byrd was known for his modern "indoor–outdoor" style that we have tried to live up to and his use of bird houses embedded in the actual structure. You will notice the two bird houses on the front of the house above the windows of the second story. This is a Standalone Construction that is 2,000 square foot home with no shared walls on a 10,000 square foot lot with the original wood floors and brick fireplaces remain in the original rooms of the house. Private, Fenced Side and Backyards. Front yard to street (no fence). House is a on tranquil, low traffic street with no connecting through streets on either side which is a perk the layout of the neighborhood provides. You would be renting the entire property to enjoy and we would not be on the premises.

The house is located in a quiet pocket neighborhood that is 2 blocks by 8 blocks in the heart of Valley Village, California. The quaint 2.09-square-mile Valley Village lies a hop skip and a jump from Universal City, just north of Studio City, east of Sherman Oaks and Encino, southwest of North Hollywood and west of Burbank in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles.
OUR BEDS / SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS
In the master bedroom, there is one queen-size four-poster bed handmade in Charleston, SC - (2 people). In the second bedroom there is a queen size bed - (2 people). In the third bedroom in the upstairs loft, there are two twin beds and one twin size trundle bed - (3 people) (no door / no closet). A comfortable sofa the size of a single bed sits in front room that has a thicker cushion than most mattresses - (1 person). The den couch opens up into a queen size sofa bed (2 people). We have two blow up mattresses a queen and a twin if needed to set up anywhere in the open areas of the house - (3 people). The Queen Air Mattress is Intex Queen 22" DuraBeam High Rise Airbed Mattress and the Twin is a Brookstone 24" Memory Foam Bed both with Built-in inflate/deflate air pump that fully inflates and deflates in minutes. Sleeps 9 - 13 total sleeping spot options.

Great access right off Laurel Canyon - a half a mile from the 170 freeway (exit Burbank), 1.5 miles from the 101 (exit Laurel Canyon), and 4.5 miles from the 405 (exit Burbank).
PARKING
We have four spots in the driveway and there is street parking if needed - no parking permits required or meters. Only exception is there is no street parking for weekly street cleaning every Wednesday (Westside - across the street) and Thursday (Eastside - closest to house) from 8 to 10 AM.

We have welcomed so many incredible families on adventures to Universal that is so close - less than 5 miles away by car or a luxury option in LA being 1 mile from a subway station that is one stop from Universal City (save on parking and driving!). We are a hop skip and a jump to Warner Brothers (5 Miles), Hollywood (6 miles), West Hollywood (6.5 Miles) and over the hill from Beverly Hills (9 Miles). For a day on the West Side, Brentwood is just 14 miles and a day at the beach, the the Santa Monica Pier is 20 Miles.
POOL SPA HEATER
The pool and jacuzzi are cleaned and serviced twice weekly for your enjoyment as part of the overall rental - both are available to be used all year long with or without the heater. The heater is included for the pool and jacuzzi, but not kept heated when no one is there. We let any guest handle heating the pool and jacuzzi directly so that you are in control of your temperature preferences upon arrival and throughout your stay.

I can say that Chad is the best host i have ever dealt with all my rental stays experiences all these years .The place is just perfect for my daughters 16th bday celebration with sleepover with her friends . The neighborhood feels safe . From cleanliness to organization , this place exceeded my expectations .the house and furnitures might be old but the host was able to preserve the beauty of everything for the young generation to enjoy . The back yard is the highlight of the stay .the teens enjoyed the pool Gave me an idea of how i want my backyard to look like . The host was very generous to share the fruits in the backyard so the teens were able to enjoy the experience of fruit picking in the morning . All the pictures taken looks awesome because of all the garden and flowers in front of the house .Thank you for sharing this wonderful place to us . Such a joy even for a short time .

The yard was great for kids. Although many of the kids toys were broken - we did have to go buy some stuff and left it to pass on. Everything was comfortable clean and in working order. Location super close to Burbank airport. Great communication. Great directions.

Stayed two nights. Communication with the host from initial contact until the end of our stay was great. Our check-in was seamless and we had all the information we needed about the property and neighborhood before we arrived. Kitchen was well equipped and plenty of seating for our multi generational family. Everything throughout the property was thoughtfully labeled (even the types of trees!) and organized. We enjoyed reading about the history of house. The outdoor space is terrific!

We absolutely had the best time in the backyard with the pool and hot tub. Everything that you need is labeled and explained at the house - meaning your stay will be easy and peaceful. The fruit trees are so yummy - we had fresh juice one morning. Absolutely a great deal - you will love it!

Even though the home is located in the city, you feel as though you are in a quiet suburban neighborhood. The backyard is an oasis with fruit trees, pool/spa, deck and plenty of seating. The inside is very nice and feels very homey. We absolutely loved how organized the home way, we didn't have to wonder what to do or where things were located. Will absolutely stay here again!

The house was just as described. We especially loved the fruit trees in the backyard. We picked oranges, lemons and grapefruit daily. I made lemon sorbet for the first time and it was delicious, probably due to the freshness of the lemons. The hot tub heated quickly and was great after a long day. Chad was a great host, everything was well appointed and well labeled with easy instructions. We will definitely return when we come back to the LA area. Thank you Chad for opening your home to us.

It was a whirlwind trip for us: coming from WA and NY states on a Thursday afternoon...we met at the airport; attended a college graduation in LA on Friday; and flew to our respective homes on Saturday. There were 4 of us...needing 3 rooms. From Olivera St to Irvine to see family -- strolls on the neighboring beaches to celebrations in the city -- our short time was on-the-go! But some of our most perfect memories will be at this wonderful home. The downtime between the rush was as important as our big-events: and this retreat-stay didn't disappoint. The peacefulness of the sanctuary grounds was a breath of fresh air: the citrus trees; the flowers; the charm that we were in a distant country! Beds were perfect. Bathrooms were clean. The Kitchen well-equipped. And the warm of the farmhouse vibe nestled us all!!! Thank you so, so much for allowing us to enjoy this escape -- when outside our door the world-whirled and beckoned in a whole another way! We'll be BACK!!!! Glad to have found a 'go-to' landing spot for this wonderful corner of the country!!!

It was great… loved the house and the backyard was amazing. Felt safe in the neighborhood, but the backyard offered enough privacy that it didn’t feel like the neighbors were so close.

This property was exactly what we needed for our LA visit! Coming from the midwest, having abundant fresh fruit in the backyard was a real treat and conveniently located in a safe and clean neighborhood was a plus.
We have family in the LA area, so using the property as a meeting point to host different family members was perfect. Plenty of space to have our private areas, but then to have enough seating for everyone to spread out.
Highly recommend staying here for your next LA trip!

I truly enjoyed this home so much! From the moment I walked in the door I felt at home. The large dining table was perfect for family meals and the kitchen had everything anyone would need to create fantastic meals. The bedrooms had very cozy linens and the beds were so comfortable. I loved the beautiful tile work in the bathrooms and the lovely artwork throughout the home.
The backyard is a true gem! We spent every evening outside enjoying the scenery and watching the kids playing in the pool.
Everything in the home was beautiful and clean. It didn’t feel like a vacation rental at all. In fact it felt more like staying at a dear friend’s home.
The host was great at communicating with us when I had a question. Chad was pleasant and I felt like he truly cares about his guests and this amazing home. 10/10 I would stay here again. Thanks for everything Chad!

My French family and I were visiting California and was looking for a charming home with a nice pool to enjoy the Los Angeles weather. We definitely found that here! Everything was well organized and detailed for us to settle in comfortably and easily. We enjoyed the pool and slept well with the great beds! Not far from universal studios and other great places! Would definitely book again. :)

The house is absolutely stunning, everything was well maintained and plenty of labels and instructions to figure out all the details of the house. A great property for a family. We stayed in La for four nights and this home was ideal for relaxing a seeing all the sites. The house is equipped with everything you could posdibly need and the owner was a pleasure to deal with. Couldnt have picked a better home for our stay.

House is located in quiet neighborhood with plenty of restaurants and market places. Was able to Uber to universal studios cheaper than the parking. house is complete with pots and pans for cooking . Plenty of space for family to relax and have a great time. My family and I will definitely be back to Chad‘s house for our next family vacation in California. Thank you Chad for your hospitality.

The outdoor property though smaller than it appears in pictures is very pretty and storybook like. We unfortunately didn't make use of the yard since the weather wasn't being agreeable and sadly the fruit trees were bare- we all agreed we will have to return so we can fully enjoy all this amazing property offers.

We were looking for a place to celebrate our son's 30th birthday with some of his local friends. He was to come from NYC, we were to drive from the Bay Area, and our daughter lives in LA. Chad's place was perfect. It's ideally located in North Hollywood, making it easy to get to from the Bay Area (avoids LA traffic). The backyard with the pool and hot tub was perfect, with plenty of trees that provide a sense of seclusion and welcome shade. And the interior is tastefully decorated, with beautiful wooded accents that make it inviting and cosy. There is a wide driveway, and plenty of street parking, and easy access to shopping and transportation. Chad was super helpful, and always responded quickly to our questions.

Great location, minutes from BUR airport and tons of great food options. We ate our anniversary dinner in Santa Monica at Water Grille, hiked along the coastline in Malibu one day and enjoyed the private pool and hot tub at the house daily. This would be a great place for a family vacay too!

There’s a little something magical about this property. It’s unique and not cookie cutter white. It has personality and charm. As busy professionals, it was the perfect place to get away from work and relax with our children. Everything we needed was there. The pool and hot tub were amazing. We used them every day, rain or shine. We made fresh lemonade from the orchard and had fresh oranges every day.
It’s was a great location and easy to access amenities and quick to universal studios. Chad was easy to get a hold of if needed and quick to answer.
We felt at home and relaxed. Highly recommended!

Those were the sweetest grapefruits I have ever had. The oranges were nice too. Jacuzzi a big plus for relaxing after driving in LA traffic. Chad provided a safe, comfy, drama free stay. His neighbor is part of the local neighborhood watch and she's always home. We're not partiers, so that's exactly the kind of neighbors we wanted. Chad had good communication without hovering or intruding. If I could consistently and politely communicate like he does without my morning coffee I'd start my own VRBO.

Chad was excellent in terms of communication and detailed instructions about the property. The property itself was the perfect getaway for our family of two kids and two senior dogs, situated in a quiet neighborhood and near lots of things to do. We would love to be back in the warmer months to utilize the pool more.
