Lovely home for family visit for WWU graduation! Loved the view, the outside areas and especially the hot tub.

My husband and I rented the house to spend a week with our adult daughter, son, and daughter-in-law. The neighborhood is great, we loved the relaxing feel of the house, and the hot tub was a hit. Perfect location for all of the day trips we made. The owners were wonderful and very helpful when our daughter left something in the house after checking out. One for the memory books!

We spent a week at this lovely home in Sudden Valley. Perfect location for a visit with our son's family who live in the neighbourhood. The house exceeded our expectations and we hope to stay there again. Beautiful view of the lake and enjoyed being in the treetops.

We loved the beautiful cozy home by the lake. It was such a nice get away with fine amenities and comfort.

We totally enjoyed our stay. The kitchen was one of the best stocked kitchens we've seen. The patio's outside are huge and we totally took advantage of them. Owners were very responsive to our questions. I would definitely stay in this property again.

Beautiful view
The area was tucked away from the city-but an easy drive to get to the city when we wanted to shop. Lake was amazing, house was even nicer in person. Lots of room for everyone. Would go back.

Great House
The house was beautiful!! Super, super clean and had everything you could want as far as supplies. Only had to buy groceries.
Had an issue with the dishwasher, contacted the owners and they came immediately.
Was really, really happy! Highly recommend!!

The pictures do not do this house justice. It is a perfect modern cozy cabin. I had zero issues with internet, temperature adjustment, cleanliness, appliances, checking in, etc. I never had to contact the owners to ask questions or complain. I stayed by myself, but I would definitely come back with friends or family. The three bedrooms are nice and spacious. The view of the lake is serene. The hot tub was so relaxing. I brought my dog and he loved the fenced in gravel area on the back of the house where he could do his business. I live in Bellingham, but staying in this luxurious house looking out over Lake Whatcom really felt like I had gotten away from city life and was on a lake house vacation. Can't recommend this property enough. Anybody would have a great time staying here.

This was a gorgeous home. The pictures do not do it justice. The Christmas tree was the icing on the cake. We have a small dog so the outside fenced area was great. Cookies, dog biscuits, and wine were offered in a cute welcome basket which was lovely. This place will not disappoint you! The property owners were very responsive. I wish we owned this house! It was fantastic!!

Perfect spot in Sudden Valley
This is the fourth time we've stayed in this house, and I can't think of a reason we'd look elsewhere in Sudden Valley. The house is comfortable and well maintained. The view from the front deck of Lake Whatcom is wonderful. The people in the neighborhood are friendly. It's a great place for dogs.
We did have one very small issue with a kitchen appliance while we were there, and Owen dealt with it very quickly.
We will be using this house as our base of operations until our own house in Sudden Valley is finished!

We really enjoyed the property. While the inside is very nice, the deck and the hot tub were the highlight of our stay. We also loved the record player, listed to records every night.

Wonderful visit to Lake Whatcom using the property as a base camp to exploring the PNW. About 2 hours to North Cascades National Park and 1 1/2 to Mount Baker, home was fully apportioned for all our needs. Excellent stocked kitchen with more than enough appliances and utensils to have many home cooked dinners. Kayaks (2) were great to use during the day and the hot tub after three long days of hiking was just perfect. Patti and Owen were superb hosts and kept us informed about the property and things to do in neighboring Bellingham. It was a perfect stay and definitely recommend others interested in this area to consider staying at the “Grand View”! Thanks Owen and Patti and best wishes.

Very nice place to get away
This was the third time we've stayed in this property. The Sudden Valley area is beautiful and the people there are quite friendly. (That's one of the reasons we're moving there.) The property is well maintained, well equipped, and the owners are very easy to work with.

House was cozy and comfortable. We enjoyed the hot tub after a busy day of sightseeing and hiking. House is close to Mt Baker ,Bellingham, and parks. Our stay went on without any problems and we were very satisfied with our stay.

This home was so cozy, with an amazing view of the lake. It felt like we were in a treehouse as it is surrounded by mature trees and luscious native green landscape. We loved the open living space. It made it really easy to visit with family even when in the kitchen cooking. The kitchen had everything we needed for cooking. The master bed was very comfortable! I felt like I was sleeping on a cloud. We loved waking up in the morning to the view of the lake.We also really enjoyed the hot tub. It was clean and very hot which I love! The neighborhood is very lovely. Although it is very hilly, we enjoyed walking around the neighborhood and walking down to the lake. It is very near a park with lake access. It would be a great place to put in a SUP or kyak. Unfortunately we didn't have the best weather so we didn't get to play in the lake but I bet it's very fun in the summer. We would definitely recommend this rental to friends and family!

This property has good and bad aspects.Starting with the good - The location is great. There are nice view of the lake and lots of places to walk (be prepared for hills). The furniture is nice and in good condition. The kitchen is mostly wonderful, except as noted below. The not so good -The listing says this is a 2500 square foot house. I live in a 2300 square foot house and there is no way this house is bigger than mine. Perhaps some of the decks are being counted. I've seen this with other VRBO listings and I don't like it.This will probably be fixed by the time you rent the property, but some outside stairs leading between two levels of the decks were failing. The grill shown in the outdoor pictures is much nicer than what is actually there. The grill was poorly maintained and not clean. The kitchen is well equipped, but some of the pans were in very bad condition. There were non-stick pans that were severely scratched and some other pans with things permanently burned on.The master bath has a nice soaking tub. Problem is, the water heater is not big enough to handle the tub (not the first time I've seen this in a VRBO property). Water heater size seems to not be considered often when installing one of those tubs. The big problem we had was with the heat. The main floor is heated by a heat pump. When it's colder outside, it take a fair bit of messing with the remote control to get the unit to heat well. The unit is in the living room, and the heat does not circulate well to the rest of the downstairs (kitchen, bath, dining area). We were never able to get the master bedroom heat to work, so we brought a portable heater up from the basement. I know that these split systems are economical to install, but this one was poorly designed and doesn't work well at all.One other piece of advice. The driveway is a little tricky to get in and out of. What worked for us was to back in so that we could pull straight out. Made me happy to have the fancy backup camera in our car!

Not what expected
Overall the house was clean, but the property size; amenities, and set up disappointing. Avoid this house if steps are an issue. There are 2 flights of stairs from your car to the main level of house, then a 3rd flight to the upper 2 bedrooms. There is no bedroom on the main level. Closet/drawer space was very limited or non existent in the bedrooms. We never got to heat to work properly, but we did manage with the wood stove. Kitchen smaller than expected. Food left from other guests, which other than a few spices and condiments, I feel is very inappropriate. In an attempt to "stage" the rooms, there was too much clutter -- spent time removing things just to have own space to cook and use for personal items. Hot tub did not work, all though we did contact the owner about it, and they did make an attempt to help us, I thought they should not of just assumed all was well, but reached out to check on it. The listing suggests in is much closer to the lake than it is, it is quite a distance and up a steep hill. There is a limited view of the lake from the master bedroom
Overall, the house was okay, but disappointing from what our expectations were from the listing

Lake Whatcom / Bellingham
We loved Bellingham and Lake Whatcom. Great beer, food, hikes and views. Totally relaxing home with hot tub and very fun record collection. I still can't get some songs out pf my head ...

Lovely setting
This house has a great setting and a good deck for viewing and snacking. The 3 bedrooms worked well for 5 of us. It is a bit of a tree house in that it is 3 floors tall with a steep gravel driveway so if mobility is an issue that would be a concern. The location is terrific, lake access, close to town if needed, small store nearby and good info provided by owners for recreation.

More than we ever expected!
We loved everything about the property. It felt like a home-away-from-home, and we are already discussing when we should schedule our next stay. Patti was very kind and responsive to our questions, the location was beautiful, perfect for our little getaway, while being close to everything our family wanted to experience. We cannot wait to return!

Beautiful Lake Home
My friends and I had a lovely stay at the Brown's on Lake Whatcom. Very easy communication and check-in process. The house perfectly fit 7 adults (beds and couch). And the hot tub was a great plus! Would go back again.

Fantastic Amenities, Beautiful Location
Owen and Patricia's property was just amazing. First off, the location is a convenient 20 minutes from downtown Bellingham and 45 minutes from the border of Canada for day trips to Vancouver. Lake Whatcom is a 1 minute drive from the property and is perfect for an afternoon of swimming, paddle-boarding, etc. As an avid runner and mountain biker I cannot overstate the awesomeness of Bellingham's trails.
As to the house, we were all seriously impressed with the high-end appliances, hot tub and impressive record collection, and be sure to tune up your barista skills with their first-class espresso machine.

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful!
We very much enjoyed our stay. It was a great "in between place"...between Seattle and Vancouver. We were able to do day trips when we wanted and stay in the area some days too. The town of Fair Haven is close by and has lots of cute shops and restaurants. Would also highly recommend Woods coffee shops! This place has unbelievable views--great to sit on the deck and read a book! Great vacation!

4th of July at Lake Whatcom
Really enjoyed the view off the front deck. Was plenty of space to spend time with family and share meals. We went on a hike and loved watching the deer and many different birds. Jacuzzi was also a huge hit!

Have low expectations if you are considering this vrbo property
There were a number of problems from basic plumbing issues to general outdoor maintenance.
The master bath toilet is not working, one flush then wait 25 minutes before you can flush again. Got tired having to go down to another bathroom. I called but Owner said there was nothing they could do.
It was very difficult getting in and out off the driveway... the decks need cleaning, foliage need help...should not have nogotiate through wild growth up the front steps. The only vrbo property we were excited to leave.

Beautiful view!
The home was so comfortable and had a beautiful view of the lake. The kitchen was stocked with everything you need to make family meals. The kitchen also had a great espresso machine for our morning coffee. The sunroom in the master bedroom was a great place to relax and read a book. We loved the hot tub and roasted marshmallows in the outdoor fireplace on the deck. The vinyl records were a big hit as well! The best part is the house is very dog friendly. Thanks for sharing your home! We had a great time!

Fun in the trees
We enjoyed our stay. Beautiful home! Set up nicely.

Great getaway
Accommodated our family perfectly . The sauna was 4 star and the hot tub was six stars in the rain nestled under the trees!
Really worthwhile the $ especially the separate room down stairs
The amount of deck space was great also. We took advantage of the fire pit and it was perfect for when it cooled off at night
Would definitely recommend and would definitely stay here again

Beautiful property overlooking Lake Whatcom
My family and I stayed for a week in August, and we loved it! The home was the perfect size for us, and we did lots of cooking in the kitchen, lounging on the deck, and dipping out feet in the hot tub. The views were beautiful, although unfortunately we dealt with bad smoke from forest fires in Canada while we were there, but nothing anyone could have done about that. You can walk down to AM/PM beach from the house, although it will be a pretty hilly hike back up! I loved the Sudden Valley-area, and can't wait to go back for another stay.
