About this house rental
Spacious lake front property on one of western Washington's most beautiful lakes. Situated on 1/2 acre of woodland with its own 100 ft private lake front, separated by Northshore Rd. Our cottage has all the amenities you could ask for to have the perfect time away from the busy lives we all lead. The set-up is adaptable for a family with children or couples who are looking for a break by the lake.
There is generous living indoors and out, with inside dining for 8, and an additional 6-8 person dining table out on the deck overlooking the lake. There is plenty of dinnerware for both. The kitchen is fully equipped, with the addition of the ubiquitous barbecue grill outside, and if needed a propane patio heater.
The lounge includes generous seating for watching movies on the wall mounted, flat panel TV. that has Xfinity WiFi stick and Netflix & Prime and many other streaming apps, or chose from our wide selection of DVD or VHS tapes! Or if you prefer, listen to music from MP3 docking station or Bluetooth enabled soundbar. Save the fridge for food, there is a separate wine fridge. Relax on either the large deck overlooking the lake or in the lounge on one of the comfortable sofas or chairs.
The main floor also has the master bedroom (king-size bed), with the main bathroom; the remaining 3 bedrooms and 2nd full bathroom are on the lower level. There is a queen size bed, one twin over full bunk bed and two twin beds, with a second flat panel TV & Amazon Fire-stick and DVD/VCR in the larger twin to save arguing with the children!
At the beach there are lawn chairs, picnic table and loungers at your disposal and another fridge in the beach hut for the perfect way to while away the hours lakeside. Make full use of the two adult, two children size kayaks, and two 10' paddle boards, or just relax and sunbathe to your heart's content. Large selection of life vests provided. There is a stone fire pit and we do our best to replenish the wood pile behind the beach hut, however, since there is no cover on the wood and this is the Pacific North West it is open to the elements so may be damp in the spring and fall. Use those scout skills to start your fire so you can finish off your perfect day making s'mores with your favourite tipple.
If winter sports are more your bag then use the cabin as a base and drive the 60-75 minutes to Mount Baker, ski or ride all day then come back to dinner at the lake and sit around the fire at the lake re-enacting the day's adventures and near misses! Awake relaxed and ready for another day on the slopes.

Five of us traveled across country to attend a family wedding in Bellingham and this lovely vacation home on the lake was just right for our needs. The property description is spot-on with the details, so we knew what to expect when we arrived. The kitchen is fully equipped and the bedrooms ample size for our bags. My 89-year-old father stayed in the upstairs bedroom and used the external stairs, which had sturdy handrails on. both sides. Our host was very prompt to answer our questions. The wrap-around deck features lots of space for grilling and outdoor dining, plus gorgeous views of the lake below. We would come back again in a heartbeat!

We had an amazing time! The private beach and lake were amazing. We'll book again. The house and beach had everything we needed, so we'll pack lighter next time.

This property is perfect for a lakeside getaway. It has a great lakeside yard with room to play and get in the water. It has all the extras for a fun time including kayaks, paddle boards, and fire pit. The house is clean, comfortable and fit our needs to a "T". You can find sun or chill out in the shade. We felt secluded even with neighbors and the road didn't seem busy at all. We had a great time here.

We have an amazing time at this vacation rental with stunning lake view. The house was clean and fully equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. It was a perfect getaway for our family and we are looking forward to returning.

We spent five lovely days in this quiet, pretty, lakeside spot. Our teens happily paddled about on the supplied kayaks and paddleboards. We enjoyed walks on nearby lakeside trails and forays into nearby Bellingham. Most of all we enjoyed lounging in the light and airy second floor living area and deck. Janice was quick with answers and helpfully let us know we could arrive early. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

We had a fabulous time at this sweet lake house. The home was well stocked and had everything we needed. Gorgeous view are to be had from the deck and upstairs rooms. Beds were comfy and everything was clean. The weather was not warm enough for us to take advantage of the lake toys but we still had a great time.

Great house with an amazing beach. Perfect for my family’s annual reunion. Lots of kid toys to keep my little ones engaged. Would definitely book again!

This is a great place to stay, especially for families with young children. We enjoyed the deck and propane heater for chilly nights and had lots of fun with the water toys at the beach. It's a great location near Lake Whatcom Park. We had a great time picking blackberries on the property and nearby!

Wonderful place for a family get together! We especially enjoyed the private beach, fire pit, and water toys that were included. Property was clean and well cared for. Loved the beautiful large deck for family dinners. Kitchen was well equipped. Living room was a bit small for our group, but we had great weather during our stay so we were able to spread out onto the deck. Check in time of 5pm was later than any we have encountered, but our host was willing to work with us for a slightly earlier check in. Great host with prompt communication. Overall a wonderful stay!

My family and I had a fantastic time in this home as it had everything we needed! Clean, private, spectacular views, great beach access and easy check in. The family and I have already decided we will come back and stay in this home next year :)

Wonderful lakefront (across the street) property among tall timber. Beach lot is a blast! Lots of water toys, nice fire pit and lawn area.
Extremely well-equipped kitchen. 2 nice full baths. Lots of towels. Living room, kitchen and 2 of the 4 bedrooms have mesmerizing views of the lake and forest beyond. We especially liked having our meals out on the upper deck, enjoying the views with our family.
Lots of children's toys and books. Excellent wifi and cell service.
Most importantly, our host was attentive, easy to communicate with, and very accommodating. WE hope to come back soon.

The lake house was perfect for our group. Charming and comfortable. Everything we needed was there. Our 3 year old granddaughter loved the kid’s bedroom that was decorated with children in mind. We used the deck to lounge and enjoy the scenery. It was too cold to use the kayak but those staying in August will surely be able to. Our host Janice was helpful and checked in on us through the app. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would come back again.

This is a great spot to relax. It's just steps to the water. There is lots of space.

This house totally met our expectations. It was the perfect set up for 2 families to vacation together. We loved all the kayaks, paddleboards, and other water sports equipment that was available. All we brought was food and clothes; everything else we needed was already there. We would definitely book this place again!

My kids were in heaven with all the toys and games (and I had fun playing Barbies too). We spent a lot of time just lazing about in the living room, but it's so nice doing that with a view of the water. We tried the queen bed first which I found on the hard side, but the King was super comfy. Great balance of access to nature but with the town still close by.

Everything was great but the deck. The deck was not clean, the grill was filthy, and the deck was covered with pine needles and sap that we cleaned. We left the grill and the deck cleaner than we arrived. Besides a little extra work the house was fine.

My only downgrade from five stars was the check in process. Owner does not provide combo for digital locks via app but instead via email. Never received email so had to stay in a hotel. Owner immediately fixed the problem and was highly communicative and reason. My only other knock would be the lack of a dock. When booked, the listing contained a picture of a dock. That dock is not in place and was minor disappointment. Other reviews indicate this listing hasn't changed and still contains the dock photo. We had no problem housing our family and friends. We cooked and grilled and had a great experience sipping coffee on the deck. Would stay again.

Our company executives stayed there for some business dealings and really enjoyed being in a home instead of a hotel. It makes it much more relaxed and this home was beautiful as was the setting.
Thank you

the lakehouse is comfortable and beautifully situated on lake Whatcom. It was wonderful to swim in the lake and hike around it on the excellent trail system. The kayaks and paddle boards were easily accessible and we used them throughout the week. It was close to Bellingham so a great place to hang out throughout the wedding weekend. Great grilling and nearby grocery stores so easy to cook in as well.
House is very well equipped. Could use an additional queen bed rather than the twins in the lower front room.
We enjoyed our stay very much!

Awesome lake front amenities and comfortable home for a family getaway.

Nice private beach lot, across road from house. Not sandy but easy access to swim. Very comfortable home, good beds, very well stocked. Only downside was the very narrow road with no shoulders, made it difficult to walk( go early or late, less traffic.). Close enough to access all amenities - retail, restaurants, day trips, in the Bellingham area.

The Lake House was an ideal place for us to celebrate our 50th Wedding with our family from San Diego, Washington, DC, and Bellingham. Our 4 grandsons 3-11 years old loved it. They couldn't wait to get out to the lake each day. Having all the water equipment was outstanding. The fishing was so fun for the boys: Unfortunately we were there during one of the hottest weeks of the summer. We strongly recommend ceiling fans especially in the bedrooms. Very kid friendly!
Google Maps kind of messed us up finding it the first time.
Driving out the street numbers go up in number and then they start over again and they had us there before we really were!! Had something to do with typing in North Shore vs N. Shore Drive. Not sure I still understand it completely!

We enjoyed our stay in this lake home. Unfortunately, the listing is misleading about being lakefront. There is a 35 mph road that runs between the home and the property’s beach area. We learned this when we google mapped the address a few days before arrival - long after the cancelation window closed. Also misleading was the dock which is pictured as floating, perfect for teens to escape to. The host updated the description to share that the dock is moored at shore because it came loose in a storm. I figured our kids could still use it for jumping into the water, but not only is it moored, it is nearly destroyed and completely unusable (not mentioned in the description). The host mentioned in a follow-up text that they consulted their partner about updating the listing, but didn’t elaborate on why they decided against it.
Other issues arose which the host quickly guided us to remedy, but it required initiative on our part to point out and directives to follow, for example, tote the former renters’ full bin of garbage to the road for pick up. All in all doable, but not the carefree lakefront vacation I was hoping for.
The home is beautifully designed and decorated, and well stocked with dishes, spices, and lovely dining areas with views. We could have benefited from paper towels and napkins, but we made it work. There were loads of games and streaming services - we gave up trying to get the vcr and DVD players to work. The host offered to FaceTime and walk us through it, but we declined.
Other things:
A most fabulous restaurant called Fork is just down the road. Not to miss!!
The driveway is a steep gravel incline - folks with mobility issues should be aware.
We recommend this place, but only for those who are fully aware of what they are getting.

This property needs some attention
I feel the descriptive paragraphs in the VRBO listing oversell this property. While we enjoyed our stay and the location is good, it seems that one might find better value for their money elsewhere. We use VRBO properties a lot and this one we found to be less than expected particularly when considering the price we paid.

Perfect Rain or Shine
Our family had a great stay in a time of crazy weather and we enjoyed the cottage throughout. The view was fantastic, the walk to the lake was shorter than the pics look and the house and toy shed were totally stocked. We couldn’t have asked for more. Additionally, our hosts were very responsive. Highly recommend!

Beautiful lake house
We very much enjoyed our stay. The home is spacious and has a beautiful view of the lake. The kitchen has every pan and utensil you can imagine and more. We enjoyed cooking a few meals in. There is also a very nice restaurant just down the road and Anthony's in Bellingham was wonderful and had a beautiful view of the harbor. It's very peaceful. The town is close by and we enjoyed attending a glass fusing class and visiting the museums. We were thrilled that Mt Baker reopened and we were able to ski on the last day. We hope to return in the warm weather to enjoy the lake activities. We had a little difficulty with the lock system at first and that is the reason for the 4 stars. The hosts are very responsive and we were able to master the digital lock after a few tries.

Great get away!! Beautiful location close to parks, gorgeous trails, and close to town with many food options. Would highly recommend a summer visit. Private beach and lake access.

Great family vacation spot
We traveled with another family to this property. It was well-equipped and my four-year-old daughter was delighted to find a toy kitchen there. It's a great place for families with kids and close to activities/things to do in Bellingham.

Great view of Lake Whatcom
Since we stayed during the Thanksgiving holiday, the weather was not as cooperative to enjoy the outdoors and lovely deck overlooking the lake. The location and views were still beautiful. Plenty of kayaks, paddle boards and other water toys but unable to use them due to weather. Would be a better place to stay in warmer weather. One day we hiked in the nearby Lake Whatcom Park down the street which was lovely. The only suggestion would be to have the heat on slightly before guests arrive during the Fall season as it is very damp if the house has been closed up. The downstairs remodeled bathroom is very nice with heated floors. A wonderful Thanksgiving with our college daughter and her friends.

Great location and very clean!
Great place to stay with sunset views over the lake. The access to water toys and bikes is a huge bonus. We enjoyed a sunset on the beach with no rain and wine. What a spot!
The house is well accommodated. We had plenty of towels and kitchen tools. The kitchen appliances are newer and the downstairs looks to be remodeled. The cabinets in the kitchen and the upstairs bath are dated with the bath cabinets needing some TLC.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would stay here again.

Beautiful, well stocked property
We had the perfect stay! The house was so clean and comfortable. It was well stocked with everything we would need. We loved that it had childrens toys and supplies. It was perfect for our family. The boathouse, canoes and paddle boards took our trip to the next level. The private beach was a great place to play, relax and let the kids run around. Amazing, relaxing and beautiful. We would love to stay here again! Thanks Janice for an amazing stay.

A great place on a lake
The house was very clean and quiet. It had everything we could need on a vacation including movies, games and a well equipped kitchen. There was plenty space for two families (4 adults and 4 children). The lake is just across a small and not busy (dead-end) road. The kayaks and the puddle boards were a great addition to our stay.
