I am very picky when I choose a property to stay at. This house goes above and beyond one of the best I have ever stayed in. We had a large family and there was something for all the kids to do. Fishing, kayaking, tubing, and swimming are just a few. We visited schlitterbaun and Landa Park which is a hidden gem.
Supplying all the paper goods was icing on the cake.
I give this property a a 5++++ rating.
My grandkids thought it was the best hide and seek house they’ve ever been in!
I would definitely stay at the GRUENE River and cabin again.
On a side note the cabin was great for this tired Pop and Mimi.

We had a great time at the Gruene River House and Cabin. The house is amazing, with great view of the water. Has everything you need. We were quite surprised to actually find a large pot, for our soup. That alone gets a 5 star. We could not have asked for a better location. House has a great layout. Plenty of room for everyone. Chris was awesome, he was quick to answer any of our questions and respond to our needs. We will most definitely be back again.

We stayed here for a “ sisters’ weekend “. It was so comfortable and enjoyable and the view was magical. It felt like you were miles away from everything but getting to town was so easy and convenient. The kitchen was SO well stocked. The hosts responded immediately with any questions we had! I highly recommend this lovely retreat.

We had a family get together and enjoyed our stay. The last day we were there though we could not get out of the driveway because it was misting and the steep driveway was wet and our vehicles were sliding. We were able to get a tow truck to help us out.

One of the best houses to stay in I've seen on the river in the Gruene area. So close to the towns while also beign right on the river for a dose of nature. Loved this place!

Great stay with everything you need to enjoy your vacation. The only issue was the large trash bins were located inside the Rec Room where guests was sleeping and after day 2 the room stayed to smell with all the household trash that had been put in the bins. Just a suggestion to have those trash bins located outside, so guests don't have the smell. Otherwise the house and all that came with it was great. All guests enjoyed our stay.

What a great property. Lots of rooms and the game room was a hit for getting away from the heat.
Home was well stocked and supplied with all the essentials. We were not lacking anything.
The tubes and other water crafts were perfect and made it easier than bringing our own.
The children loved the closet beds off their parents room. There are four bedrooms in the main house and two open areas as additional sleeping space. The outside cabin makes 5 private rooms. Bathrooms are needing to be shared with the guests in the open areas. Wasn’t a huge problem for us.

Our stay was perfect. The house was clean, very well stocked including paper plates, cups, etc. We cooked multiple meals in the kitchen for 28 people easily. The listing shows cubby single bedrooms which might seem strange but they were a hit! The lawn, river access and supplied floats and kayaks were well used! Hosts were very responsive to emails, questions etc. The house being minutes from Gruene was a bonus!

The property is immaculate. The availability of kayaks and tubes made this getaway so enjoyable. The kitchen was well stocked with all the utensils to make big meals. The proximity to town was great. We enjoyed soaking in the sun on the river rock bed. Our hosts were very attentive.

The home has an amazing view of the river. We had frequent visits from two ducks and numerous deer in the yard. We rented the main house plus the small side house, which was a perfect (quiet) retreat for my elderly mom. The house accommodated our large family gathering and the location was nice with easy access to grocery, retail, and Buc-ees 😉. The town of Gruene (pronounced "green") is very close by and worth visiting the restaurants and shops. The homeowners are very responsive and welcoming.

We loved out stay! The setup of the home was perfect for our three families with 5 kids, and it easily and comfortably could have slept plenty more - There are 3 main bedrooms all with their own bathrooms and multiple other bedrooms & private sleeping spaces throughout the home. It was right on the river and the kids enjoyed fishing in the morning & seeing the deer up close in the evening. The pictures do not do the layout of the house justice. Very clean, and the owners were very responsive & helpful. The home was stocked with everything we would need, and the kids enjoyed having their own game room with TV & bumper pool when the adults were having a gathering in the main part of the house. The location on the river would have been perfect if it was warm outside as there was a large stretch of river visible by the house to kayak on. A nice neighborhood that was quiet but not secluded. A steep driveway was our only concern, but even with wet roads we had no problems navigating it. We highly recommend this home! Thank you for the nice stay!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The house was perfect for our group! The house was clean and well stocked with everything we needed. The beds were comfortable too! We especially enjoyed sitting on the back porch watching the deer that would frequently wander into the yard! Communication with the owner was great! We will definitely be back!
10.0 / 10.0
We truly enjoyed staying here. Location was beautiful and the house was well appointed. The one and only drawback was that there was not a common bathroom. The bathrooms were all in the bedrooms or in the rec room which we used as a bedroom for the teenagers. The queen bedroom didn’t have a bedroom of its own or a common one that did not require going into an area where others were sleeping. We made it work but just something to keep in mind.
The kitchen had everything we needed and more. The living space was a great size for games and visiting. Beds were comfy. And the view from the backyard was wonderful.
All in all this was a great place for a family get together! Highly recommended it!

This property was everything we hoped it would be. Plenty of room for all the adults to spread out for sleeping. The whole place was well stocked with every thing you need for a carefree get away for a large group. We especially loved the abundance of paper goods in the kitchen so we could avoid doing dishes on vacay. The view of the river off the back porch is spectacular. Communication with the host was timely & very responsive to any questions we had. It was perfect for our Wurstfest/Gruene weekend.

I cannot begin to explain how much we enjoyed our stay! The view to the river was spectacular! The location was close to everything! The house was stocked with all necessities and then some. It was so organized, and we didn’t have to go searching for anything. It was very spacious and clean. The best part was how pleasant the homeowner was. They responded quickly and accommodated all our requests. We will definitely be coming back. It was a most relaxing weekend!

They have everything you need at the house, from multiple grills, to a ton of paper plates and cups, this made our stay very easy and convenient. The pictures do not do the house justice (it would be nice if they were updated), and we will be back next year for another stay.

This property is incredible! The house is beautiful - there is so much space, and so many rooms. We loved being right on the river, and honestly didn’t even feel the need to go float anywhere. Chris and Johanna have everything you need for your stay - seriously! Linens, pillows, paper cups/plates, coffee, etc. it really made the stay easy. The game room was fun (we made up our own rules :)Definitely would love to come back. Also, there were a couple of deer families that came by. We loved it! Thank you!!

House very clean ,fully supplied and stocked .Only thing we had to bring was our food, clothes and drinks…
10.0 / 10.0
Unexpected amenities. Bathrooms well stocked, kitchen stocked with coffee, spices, and paperware (a lot of paperware - we way over bought for what was waiting on us). The house is in great shape, clean, and very comfortable. Plan a week or a long weekend to enjoy the river in the backyard. The two large refrigerators were wonderful for all our needs. The location couldn't have been more perfect - 7 minutes to floating the rivers, shopping or enjoying Gruene, or going down the waterslides at Schlitterbahn. If if just a getaway from everything is what you are looking for, this is the place - you can just park your car and enjoy the house and its offering.

Views and location was even better than expected. The river was beautiful and felt very private and serene. Communication with the host was excellent. Really appreciated how well stocked the house was with linens, toilet paper and paper goods!!

We all had an amazing time. Chris and Johanna are an amazing hosts. This place is a piece of heaven on earth. House is located by Guadalupe river. For family with active kids and adults who enjoy water activities, this place is the best. House is close to Gruene town center in case you want to enjoy great meals and music.
All in all 10/10.
4.0 / 10.0
The description for the Gruene River and “cabin” needs to be corrected. First, there were only four rooms in the house. The closets inside the rooms are not counted as rooms. The closets barely had enough space to fit a bed inside. The closets / “rooms” were very claustrophobic specially when one would close the door and tried to have some privacy. You felt you where entombed inside it.
Second, the “cabin” was a converted shed. It was tucked between the house and an steep hill that does not catch any sun light. The result is a concentrated musty odor that caused sleeping very uncomfortable.
Third, the furniture was outdated by at least 15 years. The couches were old and their surface were extremely worn out.
Fourth, some of the light fixtures in bathrooms were not operable.
We made our decision in selecting this house based on information that owner provided. We did not have enough rooms for each family in our group. We ended up sharing rooms giving families the least amount of privacy.
The owner should describe the house accurately and update the house. Please discontinue describing closets and hallways as “bedrooms.”
