This was our third time at the cottage. You can’t beat the location and being that close to the ocean. We spotted a lot of sea turtles swimming by. It was 10 years since our last visit. Since that time, the beach access has become more of a challenge due to beach erosion. We are in our mid 60s. My husband was able to make his way from the stairs leading to the beach, in the knee deep water along the rocky portion to take a swim. Although it was not far, I did not feel comfortable making an attempt. We chose to drive to various beautiful beaches that were close by. Although initially disappointed, the location of the cottage and having access to a pool, more than made up for not being able to walk to a beach. Peter is a great host. Always responds quickly and very helpful. We would definitely not hesitate to return to the cottage again.

This cottage is all about the view and the sound of the waves. Has everything you need and more. It's private and you go to sleep listening to the waves crashing on the seawall. We even seen a few whales in the distance. The manager was very friendly and pointed out for us to keep an eye out for the monk seal, we seen it once. The pool is a nice plus. Nice king size bed facing the ocean also. Fully stocked kitchen.

Right on the water and beautiful bay just twenty feet away!

We really liked this island getaway. It was very easy to get to and going in and out of the property was a breeze. We got hit with some crazy waves the first day or so, but we are right on the water so that is to be expected in the winter. The communication with Peter was great and he was very accommodating. We would stay again for sure, trying a different time of year if available.

Peter’s place is perfect. This was our 2nd stay here and we’ll be back again. Much more relaxing than the bustling resorts, close to some incredible beaches that are never busy, and lots of food in Haleiwa. Easy to access all the North Shore has to offer as well as day trips anywhere else on the island. The unit is perfect for a couple or small family. Sitting on the lanai in the mornings watching the sunrise to the sound of the ocean and again the sunsets each evening are the perfect way to start and end each day on Oahu.

The location of this property is amazing! This is just what our family needed. Being so close to a beach that you practically have all to your self was great. Our family enjoyed sunset walks on the beach every day. The unit was very clean and it had everything we needed, and even some things we forgot. Thanks Pete for sharing this beautiful paradise with our family, we will never forget our stay.

21 years ago, we honeymooned here and this stay was just as nice. We had breakfast every morning on the lanai to a perfect sunrise. Such a nice place to stay. Everybody was so nice. We will definitely return. Thank you Pete.

Very dated property! View of ocean was great! However, the appliances were very old and not in good condition; ie, coffee maker was just that, it brewed coffee but couldn’t keep it warm nor warm up coffee later! Bathroom shower door broke and was constantly banging against other door. Property felt like it was all the same everything since inception. Would not stay here again!

So thankful to have returned to stay here again after I vacationed here with my family as a kid! This place is comfortable, cozy, and right on the beach. The beach community is beautifully kept and the residents are all so friendly. Everything in this home is just as I remembered from my childhood in the best way. Some highlights were coffee on the lanai watching the whales jump, laying in the sun on the grass or by the pool, beach walks, exploring the North Shore during peak surf season, and so much more. The house has all of the essentials you’ll need for a relaxing and fun stay. Thank you again, Pete! I promise we won’t wait another 13 years before returning this time! Mahalo 🌺

Great view! Unit shows is its age. Indoor and outdoor furniture needs to be upgraded among other items. Furniture is very uncomfortable! and the unit needs a better cleaning!!

Oceanfront rustic pleasure
A beautiful serene location for our quiet getaway from the hustle of life. Booking, directions and instructions to Molukaei Beach colony are easy and thorough. The space is one bed/ bath full kitchen and right on the water. Though dated everything worked and had everything we could need. A great location to set out for great hikes, beach walks around the corner and explore the beauty of the North Shore. Would I stay here again? Without hesitation. Thank you for sharing your place in paradise.

North Shore: Mokuleia cottage
Good communication with the owner. Property is off the beaten path. If this is what you are looking for, you have found it. There are miles of beaches to the west, hiking in the mountains, and horses to ride. Loved the view of the ocean. The bed was very comfortable and the kids slept on the “day beds”, which were also very comfortable, nothing like a pull out couch. Place was clean, but carpet and upholstery a bit worn. Well equipped kitchen. I did not find any beach toys: boogie boards, chairs, masks. I would definitely stay again. Very quiet neighborhood. I never heard any neighbors. I did hear the ocean, as the swells were large while we were there (Feb). 10 minute ride to Haleiwa for restaurants, and Pupukea is another 10 minutes, with great beaches and many delicious food trucks just past Foodland and also further up. Glad we chose this place!

Peaceful stay
We had such a wonderful stay at this property. The host is kind and communicative and the location was amazing. We were fortunate to see whales the second to last day! We’ll be repeat visitors at this location, for sure. Thank you, Peter!

Kona low afterglow!
After a not so delightful flight into Oahu on the tailend of the Kona Low storm we were grateful to still be able to head out to the North Shore and enjoy the peace of the Molukeia Beach Colony.
What a fabulous view! That is worth 5 stars all by itself. There was a little clean up going on, we felt lucky to have power and be able to complete our trip.
Pete stayed in touch and made sure we had all we needed.
Tom (the property manager) was such a delightful help to us as well and we followed his advice on a couple of hikes that were fabulous!
We would recommend this rental for a “back in time” experience at The Molukeia Beech Colony.

Sweet on-the-water cottage
We enjoyed watching waves, clouds and rainbows in this lovely little cottage right on the sea wall. Perfect for a low key couple.

Amazing place!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to stay here again! Being located so close to the water was wonderful. We sat outside and drank our coffee each morning and enjoyed listening to and watching the waves throughout the day and evening. The cottage was well stocked and well kept. Unfortunately, we were unaware of the deadbolt locks until halfway through our stay, so it would be good to include this information in the check-in materials. I did feel that the ad was misleading in its description of accessing the mile long private beach next door. To access the beach, you needed to go into thigh high water at low tide and wade at least 100 yards along a rock wall with waves hitting you before you could even see the beach. Accessing the beach from the water would have required crossing the coral reef both dangerous in the waves and irresponsible to the health of the reef. You would not want kids or older folks getting into this water. Better to just drive to one of the local beaches (even to this one as it is accessible from the road) to be safe and protect the reef. That was my only complaint and only related to the advertising. It is a marvelous location and great cottage! Like I said, we would definitely try to stay here again!

Beautiful and perfect location and grounds. Got to watch the sun rise every morning and the sun set every night, wind surfers, sea turtles, several rainbows throughout our stay. Place was roomy, had everything we needed for our stay. We are already wanting to go back!

Great location right on the ocean
Rental was so close to the ocean you could feel the spray and hear the waves. Grounds were gorgeous and full of blooming flowers and lovely trees just perfect to enjoy the sunset over the ocean. It was dated inside but most reviews have mentioned this but if you are only needing the place to enjoy your night and sunset's as we did it is just right.

A couple things we think would’ve been helpful to know:- what disposable shampoos/conditioner would be available (and location if available)- a map of the complex, specifically to know where the garbage drop off is (and pool)A few small things to note:- light on fan over the bed did not work- TV remotes were very confusing / batteries seem to be dying on “volume” control

We spent most of our time outside overlooking the ocean. We saw whales a couple of times. It was pretty amazing seeing them come out of the water. I would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful Place, Very Relaxing
We live in Hawaii. This is an easy getaway for us. An easy 40 minute drive from Honolulu. This is a very nice, secure property at Mokuleia. It is VERY quiet. Be sure to stop at a store on the way in a stock up on food. Plenty of great places to eat in Haleiwa, which is about 10 minutes away. Some small country stores down the road. It was so nice to have a full king-size bed. The condo is tastefully decorated. The price was very reasonable. This is just about as far away from the city as you can get on Oahu. We watched whales and just chilled out.
