About this house rental

This warm and inviting cabin, called Bear's Retreat, is located at Raystown Lake and is nestled in the foothills of the Allegheny Mountains and offers spacious living in a picturesque and tranquil setting. The water is great for swimming, water skiing, boating, and fishing. Bear's Retreat is tucked in a secluded neighborhood, Shy Beaver Lakeview Estates and is only 1.2 miles from Shy Beaver Boat Launch. Boat parking is available offsite, at a minimal fee.

The entrance to this beautiful cabin is located on the main floor. You enter into the kitchen that is fully equipped for your culinary enjoyment. Off the kitchen is the deck overlooking beautiful mountains where you can dine at the picnic table or relax in the hot tub. The open floor plan leads from the kitchen to a dining area that opens to the great room with a flat-screen TV, stone fireplace, and majestic cathedral ceiling. The main floor has 2 bedrooms. The first primary bedroom has a queen bed with a private bath. The second bedroom has a pyramid bed (full bed on the bottom and twin on the top). A half bath is located in the hallway outside the second bedroom. The laundry is conveniently located on the main floor.

The lower level has a fully furnished family room with sofas, flat-screen TV, pool table, and bar area. There is a third bedroom with two twin beds and a full bath on this level. The walkout basement leads to a gas grill and a yard area. There is a fire pit where marshmallows can be roasted.

The upstairs has a second primary bedroom with a king bed and a private bathroom. The loft area has a pull-out (queen) sleep sofa, and fully equipped gaming table for a late night game of poker.

Our location abounds with fun activities and entertainment opportunities! Seven Points Marina and recreation area is about a 20 minute drive. It includes a beach area for swimming, picnicking, fishing, hiking, and an array of water sport activities. The facility includes a floating trampoline and snack shop. If you didn't bring your own boat you can rent one there.

Shopping, restaurants, and the cinema are all conveniently located in Huntingdon, about a 20-25 minute drive. Our Central Pennsylvania location is convenient to Penn State University, Juniata College, Lincoln Caverns, Rails to Trails of Central PA, Swigart Car Museum, DelGross’s Amusement Park, Skiing at Blue Knob and much more!

This was the perfect weekend getaway for our family before our kids went back to college. The host was kind and communicated well when we had questions. We have stayed in this house multiple times over the years and always had a great time. We will definitely be coming back.

Property was amazing overall. Very clean, fresh sheets provided in wrapped plastic. Towels provided for every room and bathroom. Quite neighborhood. Only recommendation is there was limited cooking utensils. Plenty of plates and silverware to go around. Over all I give it a 10/10 and would defiantly rent this property again in the future!

This home had SO much space for the reunion of my family members. It is also very well stocked as far as pots, pans and anything you need in the kitchen (aside from food & pantry items). We were there during very hot weather so we didn’t get to take advantage of all the amenities this house had to offer (fire pit, cornhole). We did, however, truly enjoy the pool table and overall layout of the house. The ONLY questionable thing to mention is that the home has 3 great levels and 1 thermostat .. the 3rd floor was a bit warmer and the basement area was chilly; just a heads up. Thank you for sharing your wonderful home.

Enjoyed our annual Friendsgiving here. Great space to gather and catch up with old friends. Plenty of dishes, cookware, and utensils. Bonus sheets were provided for the beds. Easy check in and out. Second time staying here and hope to come back next year. Thanks for sharing your home.

We booked two nights as a base for attending a Penn State football game. The house was clean, comfortable and really well equipped. We loved the hot tub the two nights we were here. We wished we had planned a longer stay as we didn't have an opportunity to use the beautiful brand new gas grill, the firepit, the corn hole, the poker table setup or the pool table. It's a great house and communication with the host was very good.

This is our 4th year going to Bears Retreat. We love love the place. It has everything you need and it’s clean. The house is close to Lake Raystown resort and Saxton. Plus the boat dock is right there. We have enough bedrooms with bathrooms for everyone which is so nice. We will be there again next year!!

Would have been a beautiful Mountain View if some of the trees would have been trimmed back.We also would have liked too have had more than 1 towel and 1 wash clothes each,and beach towel(because of hot tub)considering I had too pay 125.00 extra for linens.Would stay here again,it was beautiful!!

3 generation family enjoyed our long weekend so much. Diane was extremely flexible when we had to have a special request/accommodation for our family. Beautiful and well kept home. Hot tub was such a nice upgrade for our vacation. Would definitely stay here again, and recommend to anyone traveling to the Raystown area.

The house was beautiful, exactly as pictured. There was so much to do both at the house and in the area. We loved the hot tub, fire pit, pool table, momma deer and her fawns wandering through the yard. Trough Creek state park is awesome. Great being so close to the boat launch. Overall a wonderful break and we’d all love to come back!

Great location to Raystown Lake. House was excellent for the 4 of us guys - each had our own room. All the amenities were supplied to us. Hot tub was great! Saw deer at night while on the porch. Beautiful place and we hope to come back soon. Definitely recommend place to stay if you’re going to be headed to the lake.

We enjoyed our stay in this house. We had plenty of room as our group was only 4 adults. We played some pool in the downstairs den. We spent an evening with a campfire out back. We spent one evening in the hot tub on the deck. We used the grill to make our dinner and slept comfortably in beds using our own sheets. The A/C worked well as it was hot and humid outside. The kitchen, dishwasher and washing machine all worked. The property is on the side of a hill so be prepared for traversing inclines and stairs. Our wives loved the bear themed decor.

The check in process was so easy! The cabin was very clean, spacious, and beautiful! I was very impressed by the kitchen; some rentals list all the accommodations in the kitchen but fall short on expectations but this was not that way! Leave all your kitchen gadgets at home! The hot tub was nice and the property was so peaceful and serene. Definitely recommend and will stay again!
