About this house rental
Spacious Recently Renovated Home with large yard and mountain stream, bordering 6000+acres of forest with abundant wildlife, 6 min. FROM RAYSTOWN LAKE!
Wild and wonderful - the world stops here! Relax on the back deck, as you listen to the fresh mountain stream tumbling over smooth stones making its way across the far edge of the open backyard. Enjoy the rejuvenating sights and sounds of nature from the lower patio swing. On a warm summer day, meditate in the secluded hammock by the stream, flanked by rhododendrons and mossy boulders. In cool weather, feel the warmth of the crackling fire you build in the primitive stone campfire ring in the woods just across the creek.
Beyond our property lies a huge expanse of forest including some private land as well as more than 6,000 acres of State Game Lands. We haven’t explored that area much, but we know that it contains plentiful wildlife.
From our deck we have watched deer grazing on our willow tree, an occasional black bear lumbering across our backyard, wild turkeys, foxes, raccoons, a bald eagle soaring overhead, and many other species of birds. In the winter we enjoy seeing animal tracks in the snow.
There is a hunting cabin to the north side of the house about 200 feet away, and a few houses at the foot of the mountain across the road. The neighboring residents are quiet people who also enjoy the wildlife.
We have been renovating this house as a place to vacation together with all of our children and grandchildren, and we are happy to be ready to share it with you. It has 5 bedrooms with bed space for 19, and a convertible room which can serve either as a pool table room or a 6th bedroom, which would increase bed space for up to 21 people. Please let us know which you prefer. There are 4 full baths, one of which has a whirlpool tub. You may notice signs that indicate that this house is still a work in progress, but we're confident you'll find it to be quite comfortable and enjoy your stay.
The house has an open floor plan with a spacious living room, dining area, and kitchen.
The living room has a beautiful remote control gas fireplace, 3 sofas, 3 chairs, a game cupboard, books, a piano, a TV, and DVD player. We do not subscribe to any tv service, but it has a ROKU with some free channels, or you can connect it to your own laptop to access the internet. The house has free wifi.
The extendable dining room table seats 6 to 12, and the kitchen island 4 adults or 6 children.
The kitchen has a large refrigerator, stove, oven, microwave, and dishwasher. It has an electric griddle, toaster, blender, small handheld mixer, and electric can opener. There is a Keurig with some complimentary K-cups and some individual creamers of various flavors. There is also a coffee maker and ground coffee.
You’ll find a set of various size pots and pans, crockpots, glass baking pans, casserole dishes, cookie sheets, soup bowls, plenty of dinner plates, mugs, glasses, plastic cups, flatware, and basic kitchen utensils.
Dish detergent and dishwasher soap are supplied, as are dishcloths and dish towels.
Disposable kitchen paper products are not provided.
Food is not supplied, although there are some limited cooking essentials such as a few spices, salt, pepper, flour, sugar, oil, baking soda/powder, etc. that you are welcome to use in small amounts.
There is a gas grill for your use out on the covered deck/porch. The propane is provided.
We now have possible bed space for 21 people, with the optional 6th bedroom in the basement. This convertible room can alternatively be set up as an extra common area with a pool table, in which case there would be only 5 bedrooms and bed space for 19 people.
Each of the 6 bedrooms has one queen-size bed. Three of them have additional single beds. One of these has a set of bunk beds. Another has one set of bunk beds and one single bed with sides. The third has four single beds. We also supply a pack ‘n play upon request.
You'll find beds made with fresh linens, and extra blankets are also provided!
Each bed space has one pillow but there are also a few spares. The pillows vary from memory foam to down alternative, and from fluffy to flat to allow guests to choose their preference. Mattresses are supportive but vary in level of firmness/softness.
Each bathroom has a hair dryer, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and hand soap, as well as an initial couple of rolls of toilet tissue.
One large bath towel and one washcloth is provided per guest.
Beach towels are not provided.
There is a washer and a dryer in the basement, which you are free to use. There is also some laundry detergent for your use if needed.
Half of the basement consists of the laundry area, and a pool table room or 6th bedroom with an adjoining 4th bathroom.
The other half is our recreation room. It has a game table which can transform from foosball to air hockey and more. It has foursquare, pingpong, and a toy box for young children. There is an old slate blackboard on which to draw or keep score. It also has a projector for multimedia viewing on an 8ft. x 12ft. screen. You’ll need your own laptop to watch movies with this. Our gaming chairs with adjustable recline can transform this "dungeon" into a theater.
Volleyball/ badminton, whiffle ball, ladder golf, and corn hole are available as seasonally appropriate for you to set up in the backyard. There are sleds in the winter.
If you need to replenish any of your supplies, Saxton Market is 5 minutes away. Be aware that it closes at 7pm. Martin’s Market is a 24hr convenience store next to the supermarket.

We had a nice relaxing trip to Raystown Lake. We enjoying spending time at the beach and kayaking on the lake.

We travel once a year with our four daughters and their families. That is fun 17-21 depending on if everyone can make it.
The upper level has a bedroom with 5 beds … 5 of our grandchildren sleep up there and loved it. (14, 11, 9, 9, 5 year olds). Couple with no children in one of Q rooms, we stayed on ground level room with queen/double and other families used the remaining bedrooms.
The kids loved life on bottom level with pool table, large screen for video games music videos. The two littlest ones absolutely over the slide of the deck!
The adults spent most of our time on beautiful, large covered Deck and we utilized badminton net, Cornhole set, and ladder all set. We brought bocce and lots of outdoor space.
One entire day was spent by while family building a dam in the creek, we went to 7 point beach, and tatmun run. Beautiful beaches!!! Hiked Trough Creek State Park and loved it. The kids absolutely loved that short but fun walk. Also hiked Warrior Path and a few tubed down it. Not a crazy ride, but they had a ball. Read the reviews in the water park and passed on that.
Well stocked house and owners were amazing with communication and answering questions when needed.
Fire pit was a nightly event. Loved it. Only feedback is a few lights on bridge, maybe just little clip on solar lights might have been helpful.
Great spot and we made many family memories this past week. Enjoyed!!!

Never seen there was an extra charge for extra guest. Ended up calling her because when we arrived because the was full of water.. she found out i was having my kid and grandchildren staying. If everyone stayed it would have been 21.

Very nice setting with a lot of space. Owners were very nice and friendly and communicative. Property is being renovated in some areas and will be even nicer when finished. We are already planning on using it again, and I may take my grandkids there this summer. They would love the creek.

This was our second stay at this location and everything was as great as the first time.
Plenty of room, a large covered deck that was even more perfect for the little bit of rain we had - we could still get outside and enjoy the view out back and cook out on the grill.
Responses to communication were very quick.
We would stay a third time.

We were impressed with the cabin and enjoyed our stay. The cabin was clean and adequately accommodated our group. Most of our time was spent on the water and our time at the cabin was relaxing. Campfires in the evening and spending time outside in the backyard was perfect for our group of multi-family with children.

Had a great week away in this beautiful home and area. Home had plenty of space and the kids spent most of the time in the play dungeon, pool room and the creek outside. Big back yard for all of your games. Beautiful lake beaches within 30min drive. Overall we had a great time!!

This was our second annual family vacation at Little Valley Lodge and Raystown Lake. The house was perfect for our large family and the location great for exploring the area. 10 minutes to a small beach area on the lake just right for our grandchildren and Trough Creek State Park nearby too. 5 minutes to a nice local coffee shop.
Galen and Jolie are gracious hosts and quick to respond to any questions or needs that arise. Looking forward to next year!

Had a great stay during a family golf trip of 13 adult males. Enjoyed staying in a house together and this house offered us a great experience. Plenty of room for everyone. Great space for evenings gathered around cooking, eating and playing games. Great property.

Lots of bedrooms and bathrooms makes this place good for large groups. There are towels and sheets so those items don’t need to be brought. There’s enough parking for about 7 cars, or 5 with no one blocked.

This was our second time staying here for a post-Thanksgiving family getaway and we couldn't be happier. Once again the hosts have provided a great property with everything we could possibly need. Plenty of space and great location. Thank you!

The group of us were classmates in High School and College starting 64 years ago and all enjoyed the very comfortable accommodations, including the front porch ramp - the less stairs the better.
We spent the whole time talking so much we never got to the games or the fire pit. The fall colors were fantastic and we found an excellent spacious tavern in Huntingdon, Muddy Run Tavern. We’ve done these annual get togethers since 2012 and think we’ve found a good central location that can accommodate all of us. If everybody came we would be 10 plus - so there would be comfortable room for all. We also liked the updated/roomy bathrooms and kitchen. We’re looking forward to more get togethers and highly recommend Little Valley.

This was our second year to have our fall trip to the "cabin" at Little Valley Lodge. Our children and grandchildren had so much fun! The property is very clean, the kitchen is well equipped, and there's so much to do: volleyball, corn hole, board games, campfire, pool table, hiking at nearby state parks, and so much more. Galen and Jolie are attentive hosts. We will be back next year!

This property is beautiful it is in a very nice , quiet area.
It has a beautiful large yard that my grandchildren loved. Everything was so nice, it was the best vacations we have had together where everyone was so relaxed and we felt right at home, Jolie and Galen have everything you could want to entertain the kids and adults alike. We played games, watched movies and had wonderful family meals around the large dining table. I really can not say enough about the property, the rooms and the thought that was put in to making anyone that stays here feel right at home.
I can not wait to come back again,
Enjoyed this so much
See you again soon,

We had a fabulous stay in Saxton. We had our family ranging in ages from 1-70 years in age. The house set up ended up working out so well for our group. We are also vacation home owners and we like to learn tricks from others. We loved how each room had spots to hang towels and swimsuits after the lake. We also loved the yard and the creek in the backyard. The kids loved exploring this area and we had yard games every evening. The kids loved the downstairs projector area and the adults loved that the kids could be down there and the adults could hang out on the deck. Jolie and Galen were very responsive and helpful. My nephew left his prized football at the house on accident and Jolie was so gracious to help him get it back. We were grateful to have such a great house to fit our family! Thanks Jolie!

This property was absolutely perfect for our family vacation. The home was so accommodating and helped us rest easy when it came to baby proofing and having a safe area for the entire family to relax. Lovely house!
We stayed for a weekend and had a wonderful time! It was perfect for our three families and young children. They had a blast in the backyard with the creek and woods. Everything you need to feel at home while on vacation!
Jolie and Galen are exceptional hosts, we enjoyed their home and their customer service with utter delight. The home is warm and inviting and was very spacious for our large family gathering. They ensured we would have everything we'd need to enjoy quality family time - board games galore, toy box for the kids, ping-pong, pool, and mutli-game tables available, projector, TV, and all the amenities of home.
We happened to travel in the midst of a snow storm and they had sleds available for our use - it was perfect for Southern and California kids who don't see snow often. I often have trouble sleeping away from home and was certain I'd feel the same here but the beds were very comfortable, not a single complaint from our large group! When our hosts found out about the snow storm they were very generous in giving us extra time for check-out, they were very accommodating and we all appreciated it greatly.
Thank you Jolie and Galen for sharing your wonderful home with us, we will definitely rent the Little Valley Lodge again in the future!

Amazing property with excellent hosts!
The property can hosts a very large group. It has a lot of beds, games area, large yard, all the amenities needed to hosts a large group.
The host was super nice and even called to check on us if the check in went well. We had a minor hiccup with the heat and in no time they had someone out there and rectified. The host was very apologetic, though to me it was no fault of theirs and they took care of it.
I would visit again.

Well stocked home for family get-away!
We rented for a long weekend and had our four children and their young families along. The owner was super detailed with their instructions and had set out toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash for us, as well as some homemade cookies! It was also decorated for Christmas, which was a very nice touch. Had a ton of games, movies, and even some toys for the grandkids.
There is plenty of room for hanging out together, plus a nice long table for eating together.
We all enjoyed our stay and can’t thank the owners enough for making us feel welcome!

Great spot for our weekend getaway
We had a group of guys who got away for a hunting weekend after Thanksgiving and this property was great. So much space for all of us. We had plenty of bathrooms and beds to choose from, and it was great that we could all sit around the table at the same time. The living room was cozy, too. Especially nice that linens and towels were provided - that makes packing for the trip really easy. We'll be back!

Perfect Location for Our Family Gathering
Every fall for almost 20 years we have rented a "cabin" in the mountains to enjoy a long weekend making memories with our children and grandchildren. Little Valley Lodge is everything we needed for our family! The living room, dining room and kitchen were spacious and well-equipped. We loved the games and activities in the game room for our evenings and one rainy day. Kids played in the stream (even though the water was cold), played volleyball, went hiking at Trough Creek State Park, had a campfire in the fire circle. and generally had a great time. Jolie and Galen are gracious hosts and answered our questions quickly and thoroughly. By the way, the fruit basket was very much appreciated! Thank you for a wonderful time and we hope to see you next year!

Our family has been meeting for Labor Day weekend for the last few years. We out grew our last Raystown rental and decide on Little Valley Lodge because of the amount of bedrooms and baths. Our weekend had several disappointing turns. Our Pontoon was cancelled due to hurricane damage. One family member got sick and couldn’t join us. And we had a medical emergency our last night there. Even with all the disappointing turn of events we had such a wonderful time. We played many games, watched a couple of movies. Enjoyed dining on the back porch and s’mores by the campfire. I’m sure we’ll be sure to make this our new Raystown getaway location. Jolie was wonderful to work with. She was extremely understanding of our situations and before we arrived, she offered helpful information after the storm came through. The house was clean and comfortable. They provided snacks, coffee, and bathroom toiletries. We plan to be back again soon!

Fun Family Time
We chose this property based on the idea that the hosts were creating this home for their children and grandchildren as this was our vacation goal. The property details are accurate and helped in our planning. We LOVED the yard space for play, the creek for catching crayfish and salamanders, the fire circle for s'mores, the deck and porch swing for relaxing, and the basement for competitive games of four square and pool. The description of nearby attractions were very helpful and appreciated. The spacious home was a perfect match for our three generations to spend time together.
