We are a family of four with 2 kids under the age of 13 and couldn't have had a better experience. The house is about as convenient to both Lanikai and Kailua as you can get, easy walk or bike to both. It is a perfect combination of relaxed decor, cleanliness and amenities. Everything you need for the beach and day to day living is there, readily available and works. It's an easy place to relax in and be comfortable. The view is fantastic.
Noni is the best and the best combination of hosts, warm, receptive and prompt in answering questions. Hands down one of the best stays we've had and wouldnt hesitate to stay again.

Prime Location on the windward side
Location, location, location. If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of a big city like Honolulu and looking to stay more like a local I totally recommend Noni’s apartment. It’s a detached apartment from the main house and please note the owner and other guests maybe occupying the other listings during your stay. It is backed up on a quiet street at a dead end sitting pretty on top of the hill so the views are fantastic of the mokes and ocean!
If you’re one to cook on vacation and looking for a full kitchen this place may not be for you as I found it trying to cook off of one inductor however, it’s a marginal trade off because having a washer and dryer on site was key for me.
I stayed for the entire month of Oct 2021 and I have to say the tradewinds kept the place cool at night. On the days where a breeze wasn’t so bountiful it was a bit warm during the day but, nothing to complain about. Complete walking distance to the beach as noted and the Lanikai pill boxes. Beach was only 6-7 min walk if that. I walk pretty fast though.
One key factor and a huge plus was having full access to park my rental car in the garage!
I would totally recommend this place to any couples who are looking for a private get away who really don’t plan on cooking that much. I had a great stay and thank you kindly.

Cozy cottage with great views
Noni’a cozy cottage offered perfect views of the Mokulua Islands off Lanikai Beach from sunrise of sunset. As promised, it was an easy walk downhill to both Lanikai and Kailua beaches—which were spectacular for swimming, snorkeling and kayaking—and walking. The bedrooms are separated by only a sliding partition, so if four people, best they be close friends, as we were. We took advantage of Noni’s Oahu knowledge to find excellent, less touristic restaurants in Honolulu—as well as great beaches for snorkeling. Local favorite, Buzz’s Steakhouse, across from Kailua Beach, earned several meals.

The cottage with the million dollar view
Llllloved... the cottage, 7 min walk and you have your toes in the sand at one of the most beautiful and tranquil beach on Oahu. Noni, the owner is prompt to answer any question, charming and very discreet. Loved the residential neighbourhood. Close to Kailua for Whole Foods, groceries, drugstore , Target etc...The cottage itself is very clean and cute, beds are comfy, towels and linens are nice and plentiful. We were 3 but could have easily been 4. This cottage is a gem .

Perfection in Lanikai
This was our 19th visit to this side of Oahu, and also our best. Everything was as promised. The view is unbelievable. The unit was clean and perfect for 4 people. The location is also perfect. Easy access to Lanikai Beach and Kailua Beach. Took the kayak out to the Mokulua Islands, an experience of a lifetime. Snorkling on Lanikai beach yielded turtles and lots of colorful fish. Noni is the perfect host - friendly and available when needed. We're coming back! I recommend renting bicycles to avoid parking hassles at the beaches.

Loved every minute!
Wonderful, quiet place! Close walks to both beaches and market if need be. Noni was a welcoming host and her place had just what we needed! My husband was worried with no air conditioning, but there was always a breeze and it was so peaceful. We didn’t even touch the touch the TV and enjoyed the peace and quiet. Thank you Noni and if we make it back to Hawaii we will definitely stay here again!

Great location!
The cottage has a great view and location. Close to 2 beaches and the town.
The place is just as described--in order to get to one bedroom, you need to walk through the other room--works fine for a family. We enjoyed our stay

Beautiful view, perfect location.
If you're visiting Oahu, you absolutely have to avoid Honolulu...except for maybe going there on a day trip into town to "experience" the crowds. Really, you want to stay anyplace but Honolulu. However, it's always difficult to find someplace affordable and memorable to rent over on the Windward side of the island (Kailua, Lanikai, even Waimanalo) without ending up near a beach but in somebody's converted garage with no tropical breezes and an 8-foot privacy fence surrounding your "garden view." The Hillside Cottage is a great choice. It's a totally separate cottage with one roomy bedroom. There's another bedroom also, but you should know that it's not totally private from the first one. The kitchen is minimal, but you're not going to Hawaii to cook, right? The cottage has tons of windows, so you're constantly looking at the beautiful view, and the flow-through fresh air is exactly why you're here. The best part is probably the table and chairs on the lanai. You'll enjoy the best morning coffee of your life while sitting out there watching the sun come up behind the Mokulua Islands. When you bring leftovers home from Kailua's restaurants*, you'll discover that your lanai table has a better view than any restaurant. We certainly enjoyed our month in the cottage. We could walk to Lanikai Beach in just a few minutes, or easily drive to Kailua Beach. Lanikai and Kailua are definitely the 2 best places to stay on Oahu. (Lanikai is actually part of Kailua.) Kailua Beach is one of the best beaches in the world. Lanikai Beach used to be one of the best beaches, but two things have eroded that reputation: (1) The beach has literally eroded. It's now about half the size it was 10 years ago; (2) Lanikai has been "discovered" Big Time. Tour busses from Waikiki now drop off tourists in Kailua. They rent bikes or walk, and crowd the residential streets of little Lanikai and jam the limited beach. Too bad. *For restaurants, we heartily recommend the Uahi Island Grill in Kailua. Their $5 happy hour Maitais are the best, as are their fish, kalua pork and french fries. Seriously, we went in several times and always started of with maitais and a $4 basket of amazing french fries .

Loved it here
We have just returned from a few weeks in Hawaii. By far this was our favourite place. Lanikai is the real deal, peaceful, beautiful beaches and so chill. Hillside Cosy was a great bonus to our stay. The view was gorgeous to wake up to, it had everything we needed. Went to the beach everyday just down the rd. Private, quiet, Noni was lovely. We are a family of 4 with 2 teenagers and we found it comfy and great.

Fantastic view from lanai
It was our 4th time to stay in Lanikai area but 1st time at Noni's cottage. We did have a wonderful vacation here as expected, or more than that.
Having breakfast, lunch or dinner at the lanai with a lovely view of the Mokes was really nice. We know there are good restaurants in Kailua town, but don't know any restaurant with greater view.
Only one unfortunate thing for us was that Noni was out of Oahu during our stay. But Phillip was helpful to us and it was also nice to enjoy looking at her art pieces in the cottage.
Hope to come again for our 5th stay in Lanikai and to see Noni.
Mahalo, Noni and Phillip.

Everything you could want, and a little more
This cottage is situated in the ideal location to visit either Lanikai or Kailua beaches, nestled into a very quite neighborhood. This is not the hustle and bustle of Waikiki, this is relaxing! The cottage description is exact and precise. Noni, the host, couldn't be any more helpful and accommodating. We felt right at home from the moment we checked in. This is a place you can get used to being at and will miss when you leave. You have all the essentials provided for you, towels, beach towels and equipment, well stocked kitchen with cups, plates, silverware, microwave and to top it all off a washer and dryer.
This location is also very close to in town Kailua where there is a Target, Whole Foods, Down to Earth (my favorite spot to get some food as a vegan) and many other restaurants and shoppes.
Did I mention the sunrise from the lanai or living room? You dont have to walk far from your bed to get the breathtaking sunrise by the Mokulua Islands. Also the pill box hike starts just a couple roads down and is a tricky hike, but the views are well worth it.
All in all I would recommend this cottage to anyone, it will not disappoint:)

Great start of our holidays on Oahu
We spent five nights at Noni's cottage and had a wonderful time. The location is ideal, just minutes away from beautiful Lanikai beach and the start of the pillbox hike and yet in a quiet neighbourhood . The view of the Mokes from the dining table is simply superb, the cottage was clean and cozy, certainly big enough for a family of four. We used the kayak a couple of times - highly recommended! Noni was always responsive and friendly, a great host. Would definitely stay there again.

Cozy five days at Lanikai Hillside Cottage
We were a group of three with an eight-month baby and spent five days at the Lanikai cottage. The venue is very much accessible from the Lanikai beach, actually walking distance, and from Kailua town at less than 10mins by car. We had two bed rooms, a living room with cozy sofas, a kitchen enough for short stay, laundry and dry machines, a whole garage accommodating a van, and wonderful view of the Lanikai beach through windows! We enjoyed beach strolling, town shopping, foodie at local restaurants. Linens (bed sheets, towels) and basins were acceptable in terms of cleanliness, though we expected a bit further, so we rate four stars out of five. Noni, the owner, was so kind to help us a lot.
