We loved this place. This large mountain house that overlooks a gorgeous lake is wonderful. The lake is low this time of year but it still didn’t deter the beauty of the lake surrounded by mountains. We loved everything about this house. The game room was great to hang out and play games on the pool table and foosball. We used the pontoon boat to ride around and just enjoy the surroundings. Highly recommend. It does cost extra but I feel it’s worth it. Just be prepared for a lot of steps in the house and outside but it is on a side of a mountain and the house is massive so we felt we got our exercise in. lol. The owner Greg and caretaker were very nice and always answered our questions in a timely matter. Thanks again for a wonderful stay.

Starting at the bottom floor -
1st floor - game room & half bath
2nd floor - master bedroom, theater, laundry room & half bath
3rd floor - Living, dining, kitchen, full bath & 3 bedrooms (This level has the front door).
4th floor - 2nd master bedroom & small landing
Pros:
-Comes with a pontoon boat that you can rent (small motor).
-Great communication w/ owner.
-Pool table & hot tub.
-Ample parking compared to the neighbors.
-Plenty of kitchen gadgets & cookware.
-Grill stocked w/ propane.
-Water at dock is deep and easy to swim in.
-Beautiful setting.
Cons:
-140+ stairs 1-way to the dock.
-Stairs to the water are fairly old and very slippery (We had 1 person and a dog fall on them).
-One section of the descent to the lake doesn't even have stairs, just a mud/root area.
-1 lane gravel road getting to the house.
-Rentable pontoon boat doesn't leave the dock if you don't rent it. (We rented a jet skis and a pontoon with larger motor from the marina and it was a pain to dock all of it with the other pontoon there).
-Lots of check out rules.
-Small kitchen considering size of house
-Dealing w/ the trash is AWFUL. (Instructions said trash drop off was open on certain days but those days were wrong, & pretty difficult to find - you'll be surprised how much trash you make in a week....).
-Simple things like toilet paper & dish soap are NOT provided.
-Wifi password was on a scrap of paper shoved in a box with random stuff.
-Internet is pretty bad.
-Only 1 TV would work.

The owners were amazing to work with, great location on the lake. The home was much larger than expected and the game room was excellent.

It was ok. The entire cabin needed a good cleaning. Walls and ceilings were very dusty.
Also none of the pathway lights worked. And the steps and walk way leadi f to the cabin were in very bad shape and was not easy to walk with babies and elderly people. We will not be staying there again.

The house is far bigger than expected and it was a nice surprise. I would recommend putting better photos to receive more bookings. The WiFi comments are all true. There is no cell phone reception within a 10 mile radius of house which is a little scary until you get connected to internet. Trash Drop off is 27 minutes away from house. Would be ideal to share the working hours of location before driving there. Other than that the house itself is perfect.

The house was very nice, but it was obvious it had not been stayed in recently. The kitchen was well equipped. The hot tub worked well. There was plenty of room for 8 adults and 3 young children and we all had a great stay. The area is beautiful and remote. Parking was creative with a van, suv, and 2 mid-size cars. A sign in the kitchen said that we had to supply our own internet. We left a message for a property owner. Donna promptly returned our call. She was extremely nice and helpful. We had found the password for the free wifi by then. We let Donna know that lightbulbs needed replaced, fireplaces were not working, and slats on the stairs to the dock needed replaced. She had the repairman come out promptly and most of it was fixed. We contacted the repairman directly during the week (per instructions) concerning a garbage disposal clog, but he never returned the call. We let Donna know about contacting the repairman, the propane living room fireplace never turning on, the garbage disposal, and a broken refrigerator bin when we left as someone else was arriving after us and figured she would want to have some of that fixed. We also let her know that the trash disposal place was closed on the day we left (Friday) as trash is not supposed to be left in the house. We cleaned the house and took our trash with us. It has been over a week since we left and I am still waiting for our pet and house deposit to be refunded.

The property has so much potential given the location and amazing lake views however a lot of TLC and maintenance needs to be done. The pictures listed do not accurately show the current status of the house which include large overgrowth of plants starting to impede on the stairway to the boat dock, a poorly functioning AC unit requiring window units in a few of the bedrooms, trash underneath the cabin and scattered around the fire pit area to name a few. Like another renter stated you don’t feel welcomed into the cabin for your time there, it would be nice if the host could make you feel more welcomed upon arrival. Again a lot of potential but a little elbow grease would go a long way!

We stayed for a week and enjoyed spending time on the lake. Dock is spacious and equipped even with the rental boat there on the opposite side. Plenty of room for our 21' boat and close to the public ramp. Parked 3 cars and our boat trailer in the drive through parking area with no difficulty. House has great NC cabin decor and finishes which we love. Kitchen has everything you need to cook. Grill on the deck lights easy and cooks well. Kids loved the game and movie rooms. Weather was good so we spent most time outside. Bedrooms are spacious and beds are comfortable. Hot tub was nice after a day on the water. We took advantage of the NOC close by and went whitewater rafting and took the Great Smokey Mountain Train out of Bryson City for a ride on 2 different days. Only thing that gets you a little are the stairs to the dock, but we expected that and they are no worse than any other house there with these awesome views. Good workout frankly. Would definitely stay again.

Weather would not cooperate so we were so glad there were a ton of things to do inside the house!! Rented the boat for an extra day and the lake could not be more beautiful!! Great neighborhood and a great place for the whole family. Highly recommend

It needs a good deep cleaning , air vents were filthy and a concern for some with allergy asthma issues and house was very stuffy. It did air out though. It had not been swept we did that but there was a lot of it and dog hair . The up side plenty of room inside and parking is better than most. Patio couch was not there which was advertised. I would go again after a good cleaning.

For the price, the property is not worth staying. The owners of the property live in Florida and very little maintenance or TLC has been given to fix things that are falling apart - case in point - dishwasher was not attached to the counter - it worked, but was teetering every time you open or shut it. Owner- this is not something that people need to "report' to you with pictures and arrows, this is something that a MAINTENANCE /HANDY MAN would notice within 30 seconds. Another point - dirty dishes and dirty kitchen. Just because the previous guests are supposed to wash and put away dishes doesn't mean they will. You owners need to spend more time managing the property or charge a lot less than you are charging. There was an old crusty refrigerator plugged in - didn't work well at all Refrigerator was missing shelves, toilet paper roll holders were dangling in bedrooms. lights didn't work, bulbs didn't work - far too much energy is spent telling vacationers the rules and not enough positive welcome - no where on your rules do you WELCOME GUESTS and hope they have a wonderful week (really, we expected more! )
p.s. fix the stairs to the dock.. it really needs to be replaced! so many of the footboards are rotted out!

Amazing week at the Lake!
Our family greatly enjoyed our stay and had an amazing relaxing week at this house and Lake Nantahala. Our boys loved jumping and swimming off the dock and they also loved fishing off the dock. We rented a boat and enjoyed many rides and tubing on the lake throughout the week. The house is well stocked, it worked perfect for us to enjoy cooking breakfast every morning and dinners at the house also really enjoyed eating on the deck with a great view and watching the boats go by. There are stairs down to the lake and back as there are with most all houses on the lake, it was a great work out for the week for our family! It is a large lake house with space for all, so much to do there and so relaxing and peaceful at the same time. The owners were extremely responsive throughout booking and all. We all loved our week and our stay at this lake house and did not want to leave!

Owners were very easy to talk to. Property was amazing and the views of the lake were incredible. There are a lot of stairs so if older folks want to rent just be aware.

Relaxing and fun family vacation
Lake Nantahala is beautiful, pristine, refreshing, just perfect. You can jump off of this house's dock right into the lake to swim. There was a kayak available which we used. We also took advantage of renting the home owner's pontoon boat so we got to explore the whole lake. My sister rented Stand up paddle boards and that was great fun too. The kids spent hours just swimming and floating in tubes right off the dock. We enjoyed the house itself very much. The kids enjoyed watching movies in the theater room and playing pool in the gameroom. I loved enjoying the living room and kitchen with the lake view. We also loved getting in the hot tub. We got a lot of exercise because the house has 4 levels and then getting down to the lake from the house, there are many stairs - maybe at least another 4 stories worth. Our legs were burning by the time we would get back up from the lake - but like I said - good exercise!

Wonderful lake house
I couldn't have asked for a more beautiful setting. The kids LOVED the game room, turns out my son is a but of a pool shark. We were able to spend a lot of quality time together as a family and didn't turn the TV on once. It was impossible to be distracted by your phone because there is very little service, which was a blessing. They do have a landline and WiFi for those who still need to stay connected. Be sure to rent the Pontoon boat for at least a day... it made the whole trip worth while. My husband and I have already decided Lake Nantahala will be a yearly trip for our family.

Beautiful Views in the Wild
The place is big. I was worried because there isn't a picture of one of the bedrooms. Trust me, it is there. The cabin sits on top of a wooded hill and you wake up to a beautiful view of the lake each morning. We had four couples and four children for a total of 12. We had a blast being on a boat and swimming off the dock. We brought some floaties and fishing poles. It was quiet on the lake when we first got there. But during the weekend, there was a lot more people on the lake. You can see the fish off the dock too. We got the little ones fishing poles. It was one way to keep them entertained and quiet. The stairs going down to the lake are no joke. The only complaint I have was the outside needed some clean up after the last renter and there was poison ivy on the stairs. There is not a lot room to move around or play games outside for children. Not sure there is really anything the owner can do about that but wanted to add it as a tip. There wasn't any board games but luckily we brought a puzzle to put together. Movie room was great when it rained. The kitchen had big pots so we could cook big meals for all 12 of us. I want to mention that neighbors are serious about quiet hours and everything echos in those hills.

Wedding Event Stay
The property itself was beautiful. I have a few issues. The phone did not work and they said they were coming out to fix and they never showed up. There is really no cell service there as well. When I got to my bathroom there was a dirty wet towel hung up on the back of my door. You do have to remove all trash but they have you drop at a location that is on the other side of lake which is a 25 minute drive. We did rent the boat however it wasn't cleaned and even had blood stain on the seat and back of seat. But we did enjoy the boat. Over all the actually home was as advertised but all the things I wasn't expecting were a surprise. There is alot of extra charges that you would be charged for I feel like silly things. If a trash bag is left its $15.00 a second one is $25.00. If you move a piece of furniture $55.00. etc. So I felt like I had to be after everyone to stay on top of everything so I wasn't charged extra. We had a good time with our family and that's what's important. Again the place is beautiful.

Beautiful home and location
We arrived at the home during the early day time and were able to check in as instructed. The home had lost power do to a fire down the road but everything was back up and running quickly. We had a large family and the home was more than accommodating for all of us. 5 Bedrooms, plus the cinema room was much bigger than expected, full of many movies to watch on DVD. The game room was on the lowest level so you definitely need to be able to get up and down stairs well to get around. Hot tub was great, and we had a fire every night. Wifi is not great. Recommend bringing fire sticks or something else if you are a big TV person. The view was beautiful, our Christmas in the mountains was exactly what we expected, minus snow as it was just to warm. The trails around the property were amazing. The only down side was it was hard to see at night time as there was not much lighting and the staircase was very slippery. Highly Recommend.

Beautiful place, poor maintenence.
The property and cabin itself is beautiful, on the edge of the lake on a steep hill. We stayed 3 nights over the new year. Unfortunately, our group of 10 encountered some things that would make us not want to return to this property. There were multiple large trash bags left outside of the door when we arrived, as well as trash in the fire pit. There was no cell service, which we expected, but there was also no internet and a note saying sorry for the inconvenience, there was a storm last night and the internet is down. We drove into town about 20 minutes away to get some reception and call Trevor, the maintence man, who came to pick up the trash and told us the internet had been down for 5 days. We were told the internet would probably be fixed on our second day, which it wasn't, and we were lied to in the note left by the cleaning people. We were upset no one told us in advance we would not have internet, and that there was trash left in front of the door. However, those were not the dealbreakers. The upstairs king bedroom had a strong odor of urine in the bed and flooring. We washed the sheets and let the room air and still could not sleep in that room cause the bed smelled so strongly of urine. We ended up buying an air mattress. After that, there were numerous small inconveiences that kept adding up. I.e. cold showers due to not enough hot water for such a big house; there was a game room but the floor of the fooseball table was sunken in making it unusable, corn hole game with broken bags that spilled sand everywhere, no cable tv/internet, but there was a movie theater with movies unorganized in the wrong cases and needing to go out and buy batteries for the remote control; all the trash and food crumbs you could see under the reclining chairs, the stove and oven dont get hot enough so you better start cooking your meals 2 hours before youre planning on eating. It rained our entire stay, so we didnt get an opportunity to see the nearby area. We made the most of it, but ultimately disappointed and would not come back.

Relaxing and "off the grid"
We had a few problems to start, but they were addressed satisfactorily. There was one day of "excitement " when a tree fell over the road completely cutting us off from rest of the world. However we had water, we cooked on the grill, the weather was nice and cool, and we were basically unaffected. We did the same things we were doing before like reading , playing games, chatting, napping, and eating. This was a great house for the 3 kids who work in the IT field as they were able to completely unplug. We did have wifi which allowed some of us to text, but we were not able to make calls. When the power went out, we were not able to text or make calls form our phones or the house phone...something to consider if you absolutely must be able to connect with people outside while there.
The hot tub was great! We used the game room a lot. We watched a couple movies in the theater room. We enjoyed a fire in the fire pit one night and had s'mores. We spent a lot of time around the table eating and playing games. The kitchen is pretty well equipped. We all loved the living room recliners. Bedrooms were adequate.
The stairs going to the lake are quite the challenge, and they drop off at one point. I urge great caution on them. We did not spend much time down there. One other caution: if you are driving a car use the second driveway entrance or you'll drag.
One annoyance is the drive to take the garbage away, but there is nothing the homeowner can do about that. It's the same for everyone.
Overall the house provided the quiet getaway we were all looking forward to and needed. A couple of us went into town for groceries one time the entire week, which means we were completely happy to stay secluded and away from everything. The house is close to other houses, but everyone was quiet and respectful. It is a great house for multiple families.

Large fun rental
This house is large with plenty of rooms for everyone. Theater room was great. Game room with pool table was fun. Kitchen was stocked with everything we needed to feed a group of 12. The beds were decently comfortable. The walk to the dock was just what we needed to work off all the good food. For the family members that couldn't walk down the stairs to the boat, we drove to the boat landing so no one missed out on 2 days of boating. The parking at the house was super easy compared to our last stay in the same neighborhood (could have fit 5 mid to large size vehicles). The house owners are very responsive and helpful.

Great place on an amazing lake
This property is a great place right on the lake with amazing views, nice furnishings, all the kitchen essentials, great video room and best movie collection I have ever seen and nice game room. Being close to a public boat launch is great since the grandparents didn't have to navigate the 80 or so steps. My only concern was there could be a few more basics like extra plates salad bowls, spices and the steps could be fixed up ( section had missing handrail) and be extended to cover all areas of the walk down to the lake. Still, I'd come back.

Overall pleasant stay
The property was remote and beautiful. The home was large and the children were entertained with the theater and game room. We had absolutely no cell service so it was difficult to schedule activities outside the rental and had to pay to use the landline. The wifi was spotty and very slow but it allowed us to disconnect to social media and spend more time together on the water. The beds were comfortable but the pillows were not and wish we would’ve brought our own. The home was fairly clean but there were a lot of crumbs under the dining table which lead to a bit of an ant issue. We notified the owners and they said they would call terminex but we didn’t see them during our stay. We used the stove and microwave to store food which was inconvenient when prepping meals. Overall we enjoyed ourselves and the kids had a great time swimming down at the dock.

maintenance needed
We had to fight small ant attacks for two days until we got them under control. Need maintenance on some faucettes which were cranked down very tight. We gathered in top floor to watch Olympics and were short of comfortable seating. Garbage disposal was out of order. Ceiling fan in LR top not working.

Beautiful Lakefront Vacation Lodge
We REALLY enjoyed our stay; especially the grandchildren! The lake provided hours of entertainment with the children jumping off the dock to swim almost the entire visit 😁 and we rented the pontoon boat which gave us access to incredible rope swings, islands and awesome fishing spots. Unfortunately the boat light was broken so we couldn’t take the boat out at night for the 4th of July fireworks show. But we got to see them from the dock. The game room and theater rooms were also a hit! And I personally loved the fireplaces!!🥰
This is an excellent location for families.SO MUCH FUN!!!!

Summer vacation
The house was wonderful for large group . There were many steps to the lake so if you have family members unable to make the journey this is not the place. Attention to the step area near the lake needs to be completed b/c it is slippery when wet. Beautiful home and wonderful lake. We rented the pontoon boat for several days and the process was very easy , Trevor dropped off the keys and picked them up in timely manner, very nice gentelman. We enjoyed our stay, thank-you for sharing your lovely home.

Nantahala Shores Lake House
The rental process was easy. We enjoyed our stay. The house needs some attention. The first set of outside stairs are a hazard. Only three of the 8 TV's worked. Please do not list a pack and play as a crib because our 2 year old didn't fit in it to sleep. Pots and pans were dirty. Insufficient amout of towels for 8 adults when advertised it's sleeps 12. Dishwasher not installed correctly. Home needs a bit of TLC for overall cleaning and minor repairs. Gives appearance of being ignored.

Great family time, Remote Location
The cabin itself is wonderful, and the setting is incredibly beautiful! The cabin I s beautifully appointed, and feels like a slice of luxury in a very rustic location. The negative was that we didn’t quite realize how remote the location was before arriving... no cell phone reception within 20 minute drive of the cabin. The only thing we needed when we were there that we didn’t have was a working phone. The house line (ATT U-verse, I believe) would not connect and an email to the owner went unanswered. This did provide some difficulty during our trip, so I can’t give a 5 star review. Aside from that, we enjoyed the hot tub, theater room, and game room as well as cooking larger family meals - including trout that our sons fished at a local trout farm. In all, it was a good setting for a relaxing vacation.

Lake Retreat
We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Lakeside Lodge. The kitchen was packed with pots/pans/utensils/bowls and anything you could think of. This was great as we cooked almost every meal during our 4 night stay. There were a lot of stairs to get to the lake but this was manageable and we were all in better shape by the end of the trip! The house was clean and well maintained. We had an issue with a loose step going to the dock and it was fixed within about an hour of us notifying the owners. The boat rental was also an easy transaction and we made good use of it. My family and I would highly recommend this rental property!
