My husband and me, our grown kids, their partners and our 15 month old granddaughter stayed at the Rustic Maine Camps in Owl's Head. It was amazing to be 20 feet from the water, and walkable to a sandy beach. Sitting in the yard, looking out to the water and an Osprey nesting island, was so peaceful and relaxing. The neighborhood is too as it's on a dead end street. The house is well equipped, the only things that I'd suggest (and maybe it's already on the list because upgrades have been made) is to have a sink in one of the bathrooms at least. There isn't one in either bathroom in the big house and brushing teeth in the kitchen sink isn't ideal, even for a camper like me. The other thing is that photos showed a firepit in the yard, but it has been removed. Maybe it's an insurance thing, but we all wished we had that. It was nice to be able to have a fire in the living room fireplace! The beds were comfortable, except for the back bedroom. Might be time to replace that mattress. Amber was a great communicator and responded quickly to my texts.

Enjoyed our stay at the cabin. Our host was very communicative and went above and beyond in helping us to enjoy our stay. The camp is very rustic but complete with comfortable beds, plenty of linens/blankets and towels. We loved being able to bring our dogs and the short walk to the beach was fun every day. We would love to return in the future!

We love this place. Location is wonderful and we really like the little cabin. It's not fancy but has everything we need for a perfect Maine vacation week

We loved this seashore nook guarded by the osprey on the small offshore island in front of the cabin. Our professional group used these two cabins to plan a conference and the breezes, tides and seabirds inspired us!

Hard to find a place for 6 adults, kids and a dog but this was perfect!!! I only wish I knew there wasnt a vacuum l, would have brought my stick vacuum to keep up with the kids and dog, did lots of sweeping instead but I'm a stickler for leaving every place better than I found it. We love rustic so this fit the bill. Will def be back.

We love this little house and have stayed here now 3 times and hope to come back again. It is, indeed, rustic but that's fine with us.

We had an amazing time the cabins are very rustic which is what we prefer. The entire family enjoyed our stay.

Ocean is close behind the camp, with a small porch and chairs and also a lawn. Three bedrooms, with fans. No A/C, and fireplace for heat though it works well. Good cooking facilities, along with a grill. Local takeout, especially seafood, is excellent. McCloon's was on a Boston.com list of best lobster roll in New England, and Keag's Store is closer and also excellent. If you're looking for luxury, then stay elsewhere. Has cable and excellent wifi. Clean and functional, would definitely stay again.

Our second visit, and we were so happy to discover so many more cool and interesting things about Owl’s Head and Rockland, and midcoast Maine in general, but perfectly content to just hang out at the cottage and relax and read and do whatever and just be in this beautiful place at the edge of the ocean

This was a return stay for our family. We all love the place! It truly is magical. There were some minor internet issues and Amber took care of everything in just a few hrs. She is awesome! The ocean view is breathtaking everyday. The neighborhood is lovely, and the beach is within walking distance. We watched the full moon rise over the ocean while we were there! We couldn’t have asked for a more enjoyable experience.

This was our second stay at this great little house. The rustic label is accurate but we love that about it.

The camps are in a wonderful location. Beautiful ocean views and a great little neighborhood beach. Beds were comfortable, and the camps had everything we needed for cooking. The camps could definitely use better screens- the mosquitos were challenging at night despite our best efforts to keep them out! It was fun having the second cabin for the teens to enjoy. The cabin and furnishings are older, but everything was very clean and comfortable. Loved it!!

We wanted a quaint, old fashioned escape from the world on the coast of Maine. That is exactly what we got. The view is perfect and the house is so cute and welcoming - if you like rustic....which we do. Our only problem was lack of the access code to enter the property. And the owner's phone number in the listing was not correct. VRBO customer service was no help - but we managed to contact the property manager through stealthy internet research. We had access to the property within an hour of arrival. The lawn furniture could use updating, but the fireplace was so cozy, the kitchen was well-equipped. The grill was awesome and the beds were comfy. We'd love to return!

There were 5 of us women who work at an elementary school together. The location was perfect. Private, but just a short walk to a sand beach that by no means was crowded. For us, since we had 2 dogs with us, the beach was a great dog walk experience. The camps are very rustic, but extremely clean. The only complaint we had was that the microwave didn't work. Oh, and in the small camp, we think the monitor was out of fuel but it really wasn't that cold. The small camp had a musty odor that we thought heat would take away, but we opened windows and it got better. We really enjoyed our time and are thinking of coming back next year!

The location cannot be beat. Very rustic old style Maine camps, had everything we needed. Very responsive managers.

Before people starting tearing down summer cottages to build McMansions, the New England coast was peppered with clusters of summer cottages -- wonderful, little "camps" that weren't fancy but had everything you needed, comprised of mismatched mugs and silverware, plates and pans from yard sales, and of course the obligatory lobster pot. Where there was that wonderful combination of summer smells -- the briney air, exposed wood, mossy ground, hot towels dried in the sun -- and you slept with the windows open and could hear the ocean, the gulls, the buoy bells. People went in and out with sandy bare feet and let the screen door slam behind them! That's the kind of place this is; where you can really relax because everything around you is relaxed as well. Everything is included as far as the kitchen and linens. Its a perfect hub spot for your days at the beach a short walk down the road -- run back for sandwiches or to grab an extra chair. The beach itself is one of the few sandy ones in Maine, although at high tide its mostly rock. But once the tide goes out, there is a wide, sandy expanse perfect for beach games. The surf, at least while we were there, was gentle and shallow -- great for smaller kids, nonswimmers, kayaking or paddle boarding. The view from the cottage was spectacular and having a second cottage right next door was perfect for our young adult children. Having no wifi was no problem in my book -- we spent evenings together playing games, watching movies, reading and talking. In fact it was better than no problem as we were all forced to "disconnect" and really relax! The only things I might add is an outdoor shower and a hammock (but luckily I brought my own!).Rockland is a short 10-15 car ride away and has some great restaurants, shops and entertainment as well as a couple grocery stores and two fantastic meat and fish markets. The farmer's market on Thursday was a lot of fun with some very yummy stuff. Camden's maybe a half hour away with its shops, restaurants and attractions. If you're looking for a high brow experience with all the modern conveniences, this isn't for you. But if you want a quite, easy, no fuss place to stay to day trip or relax on the beach, this hits the spot!

The camps were exactly as advertised, rustic. They had everything we needed, the whole process was seamless. If you want a rustic place on the water in Mid-coast Maine, this is your spot. A short walk to a great low tide sandy beach or a five minute drive to a state park beach, or the awesome Transportation Museum. Rockland and Camden are a short drive away.If you want upgrades and amenities this isn't the camp for you, but if you want a true, old camp, this is a gem. Our family had a great time.

We stayed here on a last minute rsvp. The place was as advertised. Right by the water on a quiet dead in road. A few houses from the sand beach, a few steps from the rocky water edge in front of the house. Quiet. Convenient to many things in every direction with plenty of nice things nearby as well. stayed a week and loved it
