Stayed here with a group of friends and had a great time. Charming old house with amazing ocean access.

This charming cottage is the epitome of a classic Gearhart beach house. It easily accommodated 4 generations ages 1 1/2 to 95. A great time was had by all !

We had a very good time- this property has a fabulous location and a wonderful yard to enjoy.
Biggest problem: we heard rats! On our last night my grown daughter and I heard them in wall in the TV room late in the evening and they were definitely chewing wood. I also heard them in the wall in the middle of the night in my bedroom. We didn't see them, or see droppings, but I noticed a rat trap outside and a rat hole in the backyard. I certainly didn't go in the basement
It was fairly dirty- the refrigerator was dirty as was the kitchen floor. (Only one woman was there cleaning when we arrived- she said there was supposed to be two.) The cold air returns were absolutely filthy, the deck was full of moss and the windows were cloudy. Really needs a deep cleaning.

We love Gearhart and the location of this home. The house is a nice size and has a fun layout. We grew up in Astoria and love the character of older homes, but this house comes with issues. It hasn’t been kept up the way it deserves to be so you get to deal with warped floors and painted shut windows. While these aren’t huge issues, the beds are extremely uncomfortable, especially the master bed. The furniture is also uncomfortable. It’s actually all outdoor furniture or old wicker furniture with old thin cushions.
Even with the miserable bed conditions, we did have a good family time and enjoyed our time at the beach.

We loved the house and the location! The house is old and full of character, the rooms are large and perfect for hanging out together, and there was space for everyone to be. The deck and lawn were perfect, and the kids loved the exploratory path to the beach. It was all so beautiful and we imagine now renting it every year for our family. There were just two issues. The photos said there were two queens in the two downstairs back bedrooms, and I confirmed it with listing agent. However, they were twin beds. This was not a big deal. The upstairs shower spray needs to be fixed, it sprays all over and we had water leaking down over the fireplace area. We stopped using it after that one time.

Beautiful home, lots of character, lots of windows, lovely sitting areas. I do have to mention that a 10:00 checkout time is ridiculous, especially when you are only there for a weekend. Beware that if you ask to extend your checkout even one or two hours it will cost you $90 to do so.

The house was awesome. Really cozy, great for a larger crowd/multiple families, easy walk to the beach, and a well stocked kitchen. For the price, there should have been well stocked firewood, and a later check out time. 10 am is way too early. Overall the house was a great experience, but working with Vacasa was less than desirable.

This place is big yet very intimate. Several gathering spaces inside and out so great for big groups. You feel like you are in a family vacation home with a long history. We felt like we were in a Wes Anderson film. Great vibes and we loved it! However, if you are into modern and sterile this is not your place. There is defiantly dust in the corners and creaky floors.

Interesting Historic beach house for sure. The condition of the house is a bit rustic though. I realize the conditions along the coast are rugged but it seems like the place could use some basic upkeep. Barley any of the windows open and most of the blinds where in disrepair. Also, the back doors wouldn’t exactly keep the elements out. We had a group of 8 and we had a great time in the place. We definitely could hear everyone’s intricacies throughout the night. Can’t say that I would choose this place to stay again.

Great historic beach house
The house was great, funky, and comfortable. Although the house is beachfront, its a short trail walk to the beach. The patio was nice on sunny days. The kitchen is large and well stocked. I do think the house could use a deep clean as it was only surface clean. I would highly recommend grip strips on the stairs to the upper bedrooms, as they were slick in socks, and one in our party slipped. Back doors were tricky to close, and there were bottles from previous guests on the deck. Again, a deep clean would be good. Gearhart is nice and quiet, it's a nice short walk to the bakery, or the McMenamins at the golf course. Seaside is barely 5 mins down the highway.

Perfect getaway
We had such a wonderful stay at the Historic Craftsman. The house was perfect for our two family party - with four kids under the ages of 6 the space was just what we needed. The house came equipped with all the necessary amenities and the kids loved the yard. We could not have asked for a better location to the beach and the short walk to McMenamins was an added bonus. The house was clean, comfortable, and filled with charm and character. Looking forward to visiting again!

Great family home
Wonderful place to stay to visit the beach. Loved the space for the kids to play, kitchen is well equipped. The only negative is the master bed should be replaced - it sags to the middle.

Lovely spot for annual OR coast trip!
Loved this property! Location is unbeatable and the house is historic with a lot of personality. Kids loved exploring all the nooks and crannies. Kitchen was nicely stocked! Only complaint is that my back is sore after sleeping on the master bedroom bed for 3 nights. A new mattress that doesn’t sink to the middle would go a long way.

Peaceful Vacation
A wonderful home as close to the beach as you can get. Lots of space, great kitchen with everything you need to eat-in. Very easy to work with the Vacasa team…we hope to be back soon!

Nice home
This was a sweet home in a great location. It IS a historical building, so it's got personality and great hot water :) All amenities were great, but I was glad we brought our own more fluffy pillows. We loved walking down to the beach a few times a day - we did some razor clamming and came away with our limits and even had some Elk in the extended yard. - Gorgeous! Parking is a little tight, but if the trees get trimmed back it would be better for more than the 3 cars we had. Overall we loved this place and would recommend if you enjoy classic homes in great locations.

Great well equipped house
A perfect Gearhart house, well equipped, with a great 100 year old well cared for patina.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and rating would have been a five but for the following…
Grounds and proximity to ocean and beaches is great. Home was large enough and had plenty of beds. Kitchen was well equipped except for toaster, which had a loose wire but management replaced the next day. My biggest concern was the lack of a working clothes washer and a dryer that I feel the thermostat is about to go.
We had to spend about 2 hours of every day at the laundromat because we packed on the assumption of a working washer. It was quite frustrating. We had 2 4 year olds and a 2 year old that we had to figure out a time that would work to go to laundromat.
The trash cans had not been emptied from the week before and were full. We would have been happy to put them out for pickup if we knew when that was.
We were thankful for hose out in the yard to wash off shoes and clothing before entering the home.
It would have been nice to have a letter explaining where the thermostat was, when trash day was, and also where the extension cord is to be able to use vacuum cleaner. We do not feel there was parking for 5 cars. We had 3 and it was very tight.
Overall, we had a wonderful time with family but the lack of a working washer would have been a dealbreaker for me.

Great location, older house, needs updating and better cleaning
Overall, the house could be really great, the house was just too dirty, dusty, and greasy. The grill and most of the pots were greasy and needed to be cleaned before using. We also had a problem with the oven filling with smoke when trying to use, we just aborted it. The house is older and just feels dusty and really needs a good cleaning. The location is nice. I am not sure about heating other than fireplace, It was cold in the mornings and warm in the afternoons, so some heat in the morning would be nice but I don't think there is heat except for some floorboard heating in some bedrooms.

Great Gearhart Week
We really liked to over all house, location and process of renting. The house was a well appointed old classic beach house but dated. The doors, windows, woodwork need to be worked on. What was really needed are some new beds and sheets throughout. The twin beds my wife and I slept in we’re old and the sheets didn’t fit. Replacing those and the two double beds are much needed. And adding a third double bed would really help also. Overall however we had a wonderful time are renting again next year despite the problem areas.

Gearhart Oceanfront Historic Home
Great property for a large group. Many rooms, beds and spaces go off to and read or chat in small groups. Right next to the dunes and a short walk to beach. Great location in quiet Gearhart. The house itself is old and comes with quirks of an old house. Creaky, loud footfalls, doors let noise through, etc...... I would say the home has some deferred maintenance that right now, isn't to much of a problem. But, within the next year it is going to be a big issue and would keep me from staying here again if not addressed. But, for us at this time it was a great fit!

Amazing location, historic charm
Really cool historic property in an amazing, quiet, private location. Appreciated all the historic details of the house. Nice beds and clean baths, though the house could use a thorough cleaning and some maintenance (dusty corners, broken window blinds). All in all a spacious, beachfront place if you can appreciate some history!

Classic historic Oregon beach house
The house is beautiful, and the setting is perfect, being at the end of 5th Street, and nothing between you and the beach except a walk through the scrub grass. The house is very well-sized, and handled our group of seven easily. The five bedrooms are all roomy, and spaced out enough we didn’t really hear each other much, although it is an old house that makes some noise.
There was more than ample room for lounging, with the main living room/fireplace room, the sunroom looking toward the beach, and the large dining room. Two of our younger guests took turns enjoying one of the window seats each day while playing games or reading. We really enjoyed the pictures of owner’s family house and we had fun looking at them. The kitchen was good-sized and well-appointed for what we needed it to do, with plenty of dishes, glasses, and pots and pans.
The location in Gearhart worked out well for us. It was centrally located for day trips to Astoria, Cannon Beach, and Tillamook, and very close to Seaside without the noise and commotion of Seaside. It was blissfully quiet and calm in Gearhart and we had good walks through the neighborhoods.
I am not sure five vehicles would fit in the driveway unless they cut back the bushes a foot or two on each side. The back deck clearly needs some work that should be done soon, but there was plenty of other space for us to be.
All in all, we really liked the house and enjoyed our stay very much, and definitely recommend it for those looking for a quiet beach getaway for a large family or two mid-sized families vacationing together.

Great house, tastefully furnished, cozy and charming.

Lovely.
I was worried the sunny day house photos wouldn't translate to the reality of potentially wet/dark November days but... it was the perfect spot for beach walks, puzzles (bring any other games you may like to play), reading by the fire, naps and candlelit family suppers... the tasteful, well-worn ambiance made me wish we had booked a week. The home was impeccably tidy on arrival so we got caught off guard when, while preheating the oven, the kitchen filled up with last-guest grease smoke. We were forced to air out the house and clean the oven before we could begin again, wondering... why didn't the smoke alarms go off? Other than that and overall, we felt lucky to stay here. Thank you.

Smoke seeped in
Your link to customer service takes me to “search for a trip”. I can find no information on how to contact anyone...my messages to the “owner “go unanswered. have requested some compensation for not being able to stay at this home due to wildfire smoke. I received a phone call stating I would get zero back. I find it despicable that I am not even given at least half the amount in a voucher to stay another time. The house is built in the 1920s...smoke was coming into the house through closed door frames/ windows...it smelled like a campfire inside. Absolutely hazardous for me, who has asthma and really for all. We stayed one night. We tried to go back and it was still bad. What else were we to do??? I could have taken all paper products/ food/ laundry soap/ bathroom supplies...but I did not, I did the right thing. We even ran the dishwasher and took out the trash. You are not doing the right thing, make me feel like trash and I will not ever rent from you again unless you make this right. I have friends that rent their house through -------- that are allowing future stays at no cost...why is vacasa and vrbo not taking care of their customers?

The house is clearly owned by a multi generational family and we felt lucky to be able to sty here. Thank you!

Nice older house
This was a great property, you'll need to appreciate a house built in the 20s. Check in and out procedures between property mgr and house signage conflicted tho. Otherwise, great place.
