Located on a quiet cul-de-sac, this magnificent, custom home was built in 2008 by a contractor for his personal residence. Attention to detail is evident throughout, with use of the finest flooring, fixtures, and molding. The house is located on Kaikio Ewa Place, a street named for one of Kauai’s governors who was known throughout the island for having the finest home of his day.
We have chosen to name our house Blue Hawaii House in honor of Elvis Presley‘s love for the island of Kauai and his most famous Hawaiian movie which was filmed on our island. A memento to the King of Rock hangs in our great room.
As one enters the large double doors, a wooden inlay of a pineapple welcomes you into the house. The flooring throughout is Tuscan travertine and hardwood. A large dining room with seating for eight is located to the right of the foyer and the great room is located straight ahead. The great room has high 20-foot ceilings, a large screen TV, a breakfast bar, and is furnished with the finest sea grass style plantation furniture. Beyond the living room is the fully equipped gourmet kitchen, complete with an instant hot water dispenser, island, gas cook-top, pot filler, and double ovens. There is also an informal dining area that seats eight. Behind the kitchen is an office. A laundry room, a bar with a wine refrigerator, and a den with two futon couches are also located on the first floor. Adjacent to the den is a full bathroom and a master bedroom suite complete with a full bathroom, shower, and Jacuzzi tub.
Two of the bedrooms have their own sinks but share a common bathtub/shower and toilet. One of the bedrooms has a screened lanai.
On the first floor, we have a large, covered and screened lanai accessible from the master bedroom, great room, and kitchen with two doors leading to the backyard. Inside, our garden furniture includes a large round table with four chairs, a loveseat with a coffee table, and two chairs with footrests. The oversized backyard also has a hot-and-cold shower built against a wall of lava rock and a barbecue located in a covered shelter with countertops along the sides.
Behind the backyard is a walkway which runs along the perimeter of a large park. Beyond the park is a public library and the Princeville Shopping Mall, which includes restaurants, a grocery store, and convenience stores - all only a three-minute walk from the house. We are only a 10-minute walk to the pathway to Anini Beach.
We have installed free WiFi and an Island QuietCool Cooling System, consisting of four large fans upstairs which expel hot air from the attic and produce a breeze pulling in cool air from outside. We have also upgraded our lighting in the house to be exclusively LED.
This home offers a myriad of entertainment amenities:
-70' flatscreen tv with surround sound (living room)
-Various DVDs
-Enclosed lanai
-Wine fridge
-Private hot tub
-Island Cooling System: Blue Hawaii House features an eco-friendly island cooling system. Utilizing much less energy than conventional air-conditioning, the system takes advantage of the prevailing island tradewinds. Four large turbines in the attic area serve to circulate the air in the house every three minutes by pulling in cool air from open windows downstairs and expelling the warm air near the ceiling and in the attic. The controls for the four turbines are located upstairs. Two are in the upstairs hallway, one is in the second bedroom, and one is in the third bedroom. The buttons for speed and length of time are on the control panels. Remember to leave some windows at least partially opened downstairs when using the cooling system.

Overall: the house's location is great, the home is spacious and modern, and is mostly as pictured, with the exception of three things:
1) It could use a deep clean – the house was dusty, windows were dirty, bugs were stuck in all the screens.
2) The "lanai" was unusable – it was dark (literally because the lights don't work) and inhospitable (the furniture is sparse and old). Even in beautiful Kauai, we never used the Lanai once.
3) I recognize this is a problem throughout Hawaii, but the large family of roosters on the left-hand side of the house were a nightmare. Especially in the downstairs master bedroom, there were about 5 roosters just feet away from the windows that started crowing at 2AM and continued every 5-10 minutes until about 7AM. The entire house slept terribly, and slept with headphones.

The house was large and beautiful. They provided everything you need to enjoy your at the beach: chairs, towels, umbrellas, coolers, sand toys etc.

Beautiful and large home! Welcoming touches of candy, granola and coffee were so nice! We were late arriving so didn't have any groceries to start out with so it was fun to have a bit of Hawaii there. I felt like the price for the home is a fair price if it were a beachfront home. I booked it thinking it would be easy to access a beach and it was not. That is my fault. The lights were hard to figure out. Maybe they could be labeled. Overall a wonderful home with all you need for a great stay but overpriced in my opinion.

This property fit us to a tee. There was room for our group of 10 to spread out and space for us to gather and eat together. We appreciated the boogie boards, snorkel equipment and bikes provided. We contacted vacasa with a question and received an answer in record time. Impressive!

Nice property in a nice neighborhood.
On arrival the wi-Fi and entertainment system as well as a portable air conditioning unit did not work(no power) we searched for a circuit breaker panel none found. Called property manager ad they sent someone out. Breaker panel was located in a locked room. ( should be accessible for safety)
Exhaust fan in Jack and Jill bathroom did not work.
Several windows lift springs were broken and windows propped open with the broken parts. (Child safety concern) Patio chair had missing screw from seat allowing side to separate and seat bottom to fall causing laceration to leg.
Smoke alarm was going off with no smoke present.
Called management company. Removed alarm from ceiling and took apart to find corroded battery. No one came until next day to replace defective alarm.
Refrigerator/freezer: placed kids popsicles in freezer, next morning they were melted. Along with bag of ice. Temp of freezer did not keep things frozen. Kitchen Granite counter top broken behind sink. Garbage disposal switch cover comes off. Pull cords were noted and tangled in dining room. No safety anchors in place to keep cords kid safe. No vacuum cleaner available. No mop for floor cleanup available either.

This house is amazing! We enjoyed it fully.
The only description that is not accurate is that it’s walking distance to Anini beach.
We would definitely look for this house availability when we return to Kauai, hopefully next year.

Our large extended family (11 people) had a wonderful stay in this house. It is spacious, well appointed, and very comfortable. The location is also excellent – very walkable to the shops in Princeville.

Well equipped, spacious home in ideal location
This house was an ideal stay for our group of 8 adults. Comfortable rooms with privacy, lots of room for lounging and plenty of bathrooms. The location was ideal, and conveniently close to the supermarket, delicious bites and stores. We even walked to Queen's Bath one day, which took about 30 minutes each way. Air circulation in the house was good when we needed it, but a steady breeze kept us cool in the unseasonably dry February month we visited. Vacasa was accommodating, and even brought us extra beach chairs that we used. Beds were comfortable and had all the sheets we needed. To help solve for the chicken noises at night, we brought white noise machines to help cancel out their sounds when sleeping. Highly recommend considering! Overall, a great house for our memorable, enchanting stay on Kauai. We'd recommend it.

Love, love, love it
If we could give it 6 stars we would! We had a delightful experience. The staff was very helpful in supplying us extra blankets and such. It had lots of room for eating, games, and chatting for our large group. When we come back, we will for sure be using this property again!! Thanks

Wishing it was a better stay
The property is located in a quiet neighborhood except for the chickens that crow at 2am every morning. We booked a month in advance and was told a day or two before our arrival that the dryer was broken. We reused damp beach towels everyday. The home is large and roomy and it suited our weekend work retreat however many of the screens were dirty and several even broken allowing the mosquitos in. The bathroom fixtures did not operate properly in one bathroom and we were going to just overlook these things until the front door lock broke within the first day. When we called the property manager, she arrived promptly and so did the repairman. The yard men also arrived all in the middle of our meeting with loud leaf blowers. The repairman used his speaker while he spoke on the phone that further interrupted our meeting. We had to leave the house unsecured as we went about our day and overnight until the locksmith arrived the following day. We used the dining room furniture to block and secure the front door from the inside so we could sleep. I have never left a poor review like this because I think I’m pretty tolerant however feel that for the amount of money that we paid it should have been in better condition, better managed and our concerns taken more seriously.

Comfortable/Adequate
Blue Hawaii House had enough bedrooms and was comfortable for our large party of nine. Location was also good/convenient. Home itself is a little dated and in need of some deferred maintenance. We had a number of items that didn't work i.e. the dishwasher and microwave which was not ideal for a party our size at Thanksgiving. House should have also been cleaner.

Beautiful home
The home was very clean and well appointed, comfortable for our party of nine. It was in better maintained condition than any that we have stayed at in the past. The TV packages were great ( we liked catching the early sports games). The only small downside was the local island roosters that kept earlier hours than us. Overall, the home was perfect and we enjoyed our stay immensely.

Comfortable Princeville Home
We recently returned from an extended family vacation in Kauai. While we enjoyed the many sights of Kauai, we used this home as our base in Princeville. Check-in was effortless and the home fit all 11 of us very comfortably. Just a few things mentioned in the spirit of improving some of the amenities of the home... the dishwasher is a double door unit that operates independently. We found it a bit clumsy and the quality of the wash was poor. The home mentions being air conditioned and yes, there is a portable unit the size of a suitcase in the main room. Maybe that's that's how they roll in Kauai but it seemed a bit of a stretch to call that air conditioning. Fortunately the nights were comfortable as the air flow in the house was good through open upper windows. Get ready for constant wild rooster crowing, they seem to start at dawn and crow all day long. The only real glitch was there were insufficient bed linens for all of us the first night. While the problem was rectified, it took several calls to the property managers (and two separate drops to the house to get it right). They did give us a small monetary consideration for our trouble. This is a nice property. The comments above did not adversely impact our overall positive experience.

You won't be disapointed!!
The Blue Hawaii House is beautiful. We stayed for 10 nights and loved every minute. I brought my entire family to Kauai to see this beautiful island and the Blue Hawaii House was the perfect place for our family to stay. Walking distance to the stores and a short ride to Anini Beach. Anini Beach is great for kids. The natural coral reefs make the waves at the shoreline clam for the kids and the snorkeling is great. Stay at the Blue Hawaii House. You won't regret it. Vacasa was great to work with and was there for anything we needed.

Fantastic home for families or groups!
This well appointed home is located in a great area! We met some of the neighbors and everyone was very helpful and kind.
We loved that each bedroom had its own bathroom and the beds were very comfortable.
You could walk to the shopping mall or golf course near by. Also Hanalei was only a 10 min drive away. So many great fights in the area. Definitely would book this house again!

House is comfortable, great condition, good location!
The house was really nice, comfortable and clean and in a great location in Princeville close to the stores and shopping area, we were even able to walk down to the water one day!

Amazing Home, well decorated and super comfortable for our big family!
Very clean, and the online pictures don’t do it justice… it’s an amazing property. My family is a spoiled SoCal group that was whining a bit at first about not having A/C, but after settling in and using the Island Cool system we adapted quickly to the weather and never missed having A/C again! We will be staying here again for sure! Steve, the owner, and Lea, the manager, were always available and did all they could to make our stay as enjoyable as possible.

This is a fantastic property - perfect for three generations to enjoy together!
The house is beautiful, very spacious and in a wonderful location. The bedrooms are lovely and quite comfortable. The bathrooms are amazing. There are plenty of lovely linens. We spent a lot of time in the living room and loved that there were two beautiful dining areas where the nine of us could enjoy meals together. We did a lot of cooking together. The kitchen is well laid out and easy for team work meal making. The barbecue was great for grilling fish! It is a short easy walk to a lovely shopping center with a good grocery store, several restaurants, and some fun shops. We all walked to Wylie's beach, Hideaways, Turtle Cave, and Anini Beach, during our stay. We were very sad to have to leave the Blue Hawaii House and head back to reality!
