About this house rental
Aloha & Welcome to our Ocean/Beach front Backyards Bungalow:) If you are looking for paradise look no more! This beachfront backyard bungalow is located just to the right of famous Sunset Beach in the heart of the world famous North Shore on a private sand beach that stretches miles in both directions. One of the most desirable beaches in the world, as seen on travel channel’s top ten beaches numerous times. The home is perfect for those looking for a relaxing, exciting, perfect vacation. Tucked back in a quiet neighborhood off the bike path. Whether you are looking to catch a wave, hang in the hammock with a book, snorkel/scuba dive the gorgeous reefs, grill out your fresh catch, bask in the sun, North Shore has whatever a perfect vacation entails to you! World class surf break “Backyards” directly in front of house with “Sunset” “Rocky Point” and “Pipeline” steps away! The beach in front of the house is absolutely breathtaking and hardly used as there is no public access close by. The water is crystal clear and the snorkeling is amazing just in front of the home.
The home will sleep 5 comfortably. It has 2 bedrooms. The master a queen bed with cable TV and the other bedroom with 2 twin beds and cable TV. Also a double pullout sleeper sofa in living area. We also have floor mattresses if needed as well as a portable pack & play crib. One full bath and one half bath, fully equipped kitchen, Living room has a new 51' flatscreen TV with a dvd player for movie nights. Has a covered private deck/lanai with Gas BBQ and washer/dryer. Plenty of seating.
The North Shore is the quite part of Oahu but is only minutes from great food, shopping and fantastic sites. The house is less than 15 minutes from the historic town of Haleiwa, which is the main town on the north shore of Oahu. It has lots of restaurants, shopping, a marina (in case you would like to go deep sea fishing), and live entertainment nightly in some of the restaurants. About five miles away from the house in the other direction, are two championship golf courses, horseback riding, lots of amazing restaurants, and several bars. Ted’s Bakery is walking distance from the homes with some of the best food on this side of the island. There are always exciting surf competitions to watch during the winter months such as the Triple Crown(Pipeline Masters which is the super bowl of surfing) and the much anticipated Eddie Aikau Invitational.
There is a great Supermarket “Food Land” about a half mile from the house, which also has a Coffee Bean coffee shop. All the Island activities, from scuba diving, to jet-skis are all just minutes away from this tropical retreat. Scuba diving is also a major attraction on the North Shore with both boat and shore dives available. Waimea Falls is only a mile away, and hiking at Waimea Valley and visiting the falls is an unforgettable experience. The property is 1 of 9 properties in all of the North Shore that gets an unobstructed view of the sunset over the water 365 days of the year!(very very special!!)
This is a large shared property with two other separate homes next door please see VRBO listings! VRBO Listing #468998 #475428

Melissa Tyler Atlas and Koa treated us like family
It was so amazing there and they made the experience even better with suggestions of amazing hikes and snorkel spots etc etc etc

We felt very at home in the backyard bungalow! The north shore is great. Beautiful beaches, food and nice people.

House is situated on a quiet street and out back is a very very short path to the beach. This beach barely had any people ever. Compared to the public beaches, that alone is a rare gem.
We ate dinner at Lei Leis and Beach House by Yamaguchi, breakfast at Ted’s (walking distance), had a surf lesson, and hit Waimea Valley Falls (pro tip - get there at 3 and not earlier).
Kam Hwy is one lane each way and gets VERY congested. We were lucky to time it so we were going the direction opposite the traffic.
Great way to spend the first couple nights of our trip!

Loved our stay. House is everything I want in a holiday space - comfortable, casual, next to the ocean. We really appreciated the beach gear - made our beach time much happier. So nice to find spices, oil etc in the cupboards. Outdoor jungle shower was a joy. Hosts are laid back and communicate well.

Very relaxing stay.

Great location right on the beach! Cottage was rustic and had what you need. Bedrooms are upstairs and get pretty hot during the day. Open windows at night and have ceiling and stand up fan going to sleep. Great place called Ted’s Bakery within walking distance. Waves were a little strong for swimming could only walk in up to knees.

We had an amazing stay. Very homey. Location perfect to be in town in a minute and then back to your private paradise! Beach walks everyday were my favorite. I’d love to return!

Most people have a romantic image of a quaint, beach house in paradise and this is it! The location was perfect. Private beach access to an almost private beach. Private and shared lanais. Even an awesome outdoor shower. We loved our stay here!

A very homey stay while on vacation. It is not a pristine resort accommodation, but a comfortable home.

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to rent this house in paradise. We have enjoyed every second this week. It's wonderful when you rent a house on the other side of the world and everything feels right once you're there and see where you're going to live next week. Many thanks from family Granlund from Sweden.

Lovely beach cottage, it had everything we needed and was comfortable and clean. Fantastic location where you can walk straight out on to the beach. Well away from the traffic and bustle of Haleiwa but with supermarket and food trucks nearby. We'd definitely recommend this. Hosts were friendly and quickly responded to our messages.

We loved the location and the house was great.

Location location location! We have stayed at a few different properties on the North Shore, but this one takes the cake! You cant beat being just steps from the beach! The house was clean and came with everything we could have possibly needed for our vacation. It was so nice to be able to do a load of laundry and cook a few meals during our stay. We look forward to future north shore stays at this home!

Pretty nice place. It was old school and a tad dated but overall it was good

Best beach shack, lovely owners.
Great way to watch Sunset break and access V land!

Overall the property was nice!!! I loved the old Hawaiian feel and the view from the backyard couldn’t be beat!!

My girlfriend and I took our sons there for a surfing holiday - the place was perfect for us. The location is amazing and the owners were so lovely and helpful we will be back.

Awesome property, well maintained and would stay again when we are on the North Shore.

The home is in a great location, and the beach is spectacular and quiet. I really enjoyed watching the surfers, and spent many hours on the beach. The sunsets are amazing! Overall it was wonderful, and I’d definitely recommend it. There were a few things that may be dealbreakers for some folks:
-The only AC is a window unit in the living room. The floor plan is open, and we opened the windows in the evening, but don’t choose this home if you love perfect climate control.
- Children can’t play in the ocean in front of the house. The reef comes up to the shore, which caused a huge rock scrape and a sea urchin sting within about 30 seconds. Stupid mainlander parents didn’t think to check out the conditions first. There’s lots of beach toys and water shoes to borrow - don’t go in the water without the shoes!
- the backyard is shared with 1-2 other families staying on the property. This house is its own separate building, but there’s an adjacent two-family home as part of the property. It’s still a very private, quiet yard!
None of these were dealbreakers for us, and the price and beachfront location more than made up for the slight inconveniences. Overall, would definitely recommend!

Location was amazing - walked right down stairs to the beach.
House was certainly adequate for the two of us. We spent little time inside. Could have used some freshening up. Lots of potential. Would have been nice if AC was on or windows opened before we arrived as it was quite hot and stuffy inside and took awhile to cool down.
Owner was on the premises and came ver immediately when needed.

We couldn’t be happier with our experience! The property was everything advertised…clean, great location, attentive and pleasant hosts!
Will definitely use again in the future!

The best thing I can say for this property is its location. Everything you want do on the North shore is nearby. You can walk to Ted’s bakery. Everything else about this property is very poor. There is one window AC unit on the first floor that doesn’t work. The bedrooms are the second floor. Basically, if you like sleeping in an oven, this place is for you. The ocean breezes are nonexistent due to the proximity of the neighboring houses. Lots of repairs are obviously needed. Screens are full of holes which let in bugs. The pictures are not accurate. I would not stay here again. The three stars are due to the location only. The property itself rates only one star.

Can't believe places like this still exist. Private, with beautiful backyard and beach access. Excellent option if you're looking to maximize your time on the North Shore. Also close to some great surfing spots that weren't too busy when we were there. Note that there is an A/C unit in the living room but only fans upstairs, so if you're used to sleeping in the cold (like my husband) it may be a deciding factor. Despite this we agreed that this will be our go-to place when we return to Oahu.

👍👍👍😃😃😃

We stayed at this property with a family of 4. The location is awesome. It's beautiful to sit outside and watch the water and sunsets. We really enjoyed this part of the house. There is reef out front looks great. We weren't able to go in because it was pretty windy while we were here. The sand out fronis super soft. The house is old and could use some updating, but it totally served its purpose. The front door is falling apart and the air doesn't really do much but for us we weren't inside all that much. The outdoor shower is super cool and we enjoyed the covered deck patio. Ted's bakery is delicious and you are close to all the major spots. The town is technically 15 minutes away, but there is lots andots of traffic in the afternoon so it takes more like a half an hour to get around. The north shore vibe is amazing and we fell in love.

Awesome beach bungalow right at the sand. Peaceful and relaxing close to food and other beaches. Definitely would return

The location of the backyard bungalow was amazing. Watching the sunset and enjoying the beach from the back yard was great. The bungalow needed a little love though. With that being said I would stay here again.

This trip was finished out for us being on the north shore! When we arrived at the bungalow it was absolutely perfect for my family of 5 to rest and relax, taking in all the tranquility of the home and ocean.

My family and I had such a great experience renting this bungalow. It was right on the beach and North Shore is such a laid back atmosphere compared to the city. Just what we needed.

We had an amazing stay at the Backyard Bungalow and Hula Hut. We rented both for a family vacation. We wanted a low key beach location and we got exactly that. The setting is beautiful and the location is fantastic. The rental has beach gear to use during the stay and we certainly took advantage of it. We loved every moment.

Loved our bungalow on the beach. It was in a secure secluded location and met our needs for the trip. The location was close to many restaurants and other amenities.

We took our 18 year old daughter to the north shore for a week before spending a couple days in Honolulu. We loved watching surfers and humpback whales from the beach every day. We loved being able to see the ocean from inside the property also. Although it’s a shared property with another rental and the owners, we seldom saw others and felt like we have enough privacy. We loved how close it was to the Sunrise Shack/Ted’s Bakery and a great running/walking paved path! This location was a great spot to be close to Haleiwa to the west (great shops, food, beaches, surfing) and some other favorites along the NE side of the island, especially a GREAT fruit stand!
4.8
Amazing location, minutes away from everything we wanted to see. And the bungalow was the perfect ambiance for our family’s north shore adventure. We loved waking up to the beautiful crashing waves.

This place was perfect for our family. The hosts were so laid back and friendly which is good since they share the same property. The location is the best. We really enjoyed it.
