About this house rental
Are you looking for a vacation rental that provides peace and quiet? Want to get away from all the hustle and bustle of city life? Then this is the house for you! In 2008 Hurricane Ike devastated the Caplen Shore subdivision. Pelican Bluff was the first home to return. This beach house has a spectacular gulf view from the living room, master bedroom and guest bedroom! Sleeping quarters include master bedroom with king size bed, guest room with queen bed and a bunk room with 1 full and 1 twin bed. For your convenience all beds are pre-made with linens provided for free! Beds for 7 people plus one roll-away cot for the 8th person.
Two bedrooms include a TV and built in DVD player. The house is also a split floor plan with bedrooms on each side of the house. The living room sports a big screen TV, WIFI & Pandora.. But the best part is the beachfront view! Watch the sun rise or sun set, see the ships travel on the Gulf and dolphins frolic in the water. A quick walk puts you on a secluded area of the beach with very little traffic. A six foot wide golf cart path makes getting to the beach quick and easy. The grill, built in picnic tables and outdoor shower downstairs make entertaining easy and enjoyable in any kind of weather. Plenty of parking for guests, boats and trailers. Large lawn for horseshoes and volleyball. Into birdwatching?? Because there is so much vacant land and because Bolivar Peninsula is know for its bird migration, guests can sit on the deck and see many different kinds of birds including the Roseate Spoonbill. Need another house for family reunions? Check out my first beachfront property Pelican Bay. It is located approx 1/4 mile from Pelican Bluff, also beachfront and can be viewed at property #562649

This home is absolutely amazing! My husband and I enjoyed our stay and had plenty of room to host some family members for a day at the beach along with dinner! We will definitely return!

Overall the home and location is wonderful. Beach front, great views from the deck. Nice house, in and out. Good communication with the owner. I would stay here again.

First the great parts. Location was amazing, short walk to the beach, and a short drive to everything else. House was clean and AC worked well. Kitchen had everything needed except groceries. Now for the not so great parts. Although the 2 main bedrooms had tv's with roku for streaming there were no remotes for the roku, so the only tv that was usable was the one in the livingroom. The kids bedroom (bunkbed room) did not have a tv as pictured in the listing. Overall we had an amazing time and would definately stay again.

This trip started with an unexpected visit from Hurricane Beryl. There was no power and previous occupants were forced out early. We decided to go anyway because it was the better option than Houston. Power came back on day 2 and we were so happy. The owner was in contact with us every day. She was super cool and did what she could to make the stay enjoyable. The location is perfect. There were only 2 houses within stone’s throw. Close to the beach and not too far from restaurants and retail. Secluded but not isolated. The view was amazing and there was plenty of space for the 5 of us. I rented a golf cart and we had a blast cruising the beach. Vehicle access to the beach was 1/2 mile down. My daughter caught a dozen fish in view of the house. The area was slightly flooded from the hurricane so the mosquitos were really bad downstairs but upstairs there was no problems with them. The golf cart rental was a good purchase and we took it everywhere. It arrived 10 minutes after I purchased it (West Canal Rentals). Minus the mosquito (the whole island has nasty mosquitoes, not just the house area) it was a great stay. I will probably return next year if it’s available. Could use a few more blinds on windows and doors to keep the heat/light out but the A/C did a good job. Needs a new lock box for the key. It was worth every cent. Thank you

Great home right on the beach set away from the busier areas which is wonderful. Their outdoor space under the house was perfect for relaxing in the midday sun.

Great place to stay for vacation! We loved the walking path to the beach and the quiet and peaceful location of the house. House was clean and well kept with a great interior and exterior layout. Plenty of outdoor furniture to enjoy the great views of the water. Host made the entire process easy and enjoyable. Would highly recommend!

This property is perfect for a Beach front rental that's not TOO close to the beach. Easy walk on golf cart path to beach. Great views and nice area away from Crystal Beach craziness. It appears the owner may have another property next to this about to come online which would be perfect for a 2 family rental. Lots of parking and a nice yard to play in. Would definitely rent this one again!

I have stayed at this owner's properties a few times. Just like always, the house was clean and comfortable. A minor concern (sticky door lock from the salt air) was handled immediately with quick, clear communication and a personal visit. The owner even personally reached out when a severe thunderstorm would be coming through to warn us.
My only advice is to use the mosquito spray they provide and follow the owner's directions for use immediately. The house is on the beach, but the grassy dunes have mosquitoes. (And lots of happy frogs!) The mosquitoes are not so bad on the upper porch, though.
I appreciated the streaming services available. Any pots or pans needed were there, as well. I also loved the showers! I want to buy a similar fixture for home use now.
Crystal Beach is a comfortable, safe, and friendly little coastal town. I have never had an unpleasant visit. If you want a "busier" experience for a day during your trip, Galveston is only a short ferry ride away, but we always find plenty to do on the peninsula. I can't wait to go back!

It was great. The view was fantastic. The only thing I would change would be the check out time. Everyone likes to sleep alittle late

We all had a wonderful stay at this property.

We had difficulty finding the property as it was dark when we arrived; then we couldn't get the key out of the lockbox. The owner lived nearby and kindly came over to our aid.
We admit to being disappointed in the quality of the cookware and silverware. It was impossible to light charcoal with no matches or a clicker, which we eventually purchased and left for future tenants.
All the windows were sealed shut, which i found hard to deal with. One of my favorite things is falling asleep listening to the ocean.
It was wonderfully private and the house itself nice.

We really relaxed at this location. However, upon arrival, the cleaning fragrances were overpowering and we had to air out the place. We would consider booking this home again if we could be assured that the fragrance issue was resolved.

Keep up the good work with this place. Awesome location, space, and fun.
If I must provide one constructive criticism, it will be WiFi range and speed, it is slow when 2 TV’s are streaming.
We will be back in the near future.

The house is in a great location. Mosquitos were tough but since it was chilly we did not spend much time downstairs. The deck was perfect and the view incredible. Would like to see some chair cushions on the deck like pictured. Overall fantastic two days!

Stayed in this house numerous times— it’s always clean, comfortable and appointed with all the necessities. There’s a reason we return! This is a great getaway for a couple or family. Easy, private beach access and a stunning view of sunrises & sunsets!

Pelican Bluff was very comfortable & close to the beach - just a short walk along the sandy path & over the little bridge. Or ride a golf cart! The house had everything we needed to enjoy our 4 nights with family & dogs. The kids especially liked being so close to the water. The house was very clean & check in was easy. Margene was quick to respond if we had a question. We hope to make it back again. I had never stayed in a newer house, so the slight sway (due to the height) was weird at first, but was easy to get used to.

Far enough away from beach crowd, close enough to town. Really nice beach and sunrise view from deck
Private cart path, no neighbors, private drive. Look forward to coming back

My family and I had a wonderful time I didn’t get to spend as much time on the beach as I wanted to thanks to getting a bad sunburn on the second day here but I was able to enjoy the sound and smells of the ocean from the shade on the porch. This place feels like home from the comfortable beds, great hostess and local people. I will not rent from anyone but Margene. Who I thank dearly for sharing your home with us once again.

Three 70+ years ladies and their 60 year old friend enjoyed 5 wonderful days at Pelican Bluff on Bolivar Peninsula. The house was absolutely awesome. Beautiful deck to watch the sunrise and a minute walk to the beach. Only one other house in the area (and it wasn't occupied) so we totally had a private beach. Not much for nightlife and only a handful of restaurants but we were looking for a quiet beach vacation anyway. Loved the Fish Camp restaurant and visited there two evenings. Just loved our stay and the house was PERFECT.

There are not enough words to describe how amazing this property is! We loved loved loved it! The location is FANTASTIC! If you want a literal beach front view, this place is for you. If you want your own walking/cart path, this place is for you. If you want to feel like you are in some sort of novel or movie while walking down the path to the beach, sitting on the deck watching and listening to the waves, this place is for you. If you want seclusion on the beach, this is seriously the place for you! I have nothing bad to say about this place. Clean, open and airy, had everything we needed. It is smaller, but perfect for a couple or a small family. Our dogs enjoyed it too! Loved the gate at the top of the deck so we could keep the dogs outside to dry without worry. This part of the beach did have people, but it was mostly small families or a couple just enjoying the waves. By 6 in the evening its mostly empty for a good stretch. There are no neighbors, so it was quiet. No real light polution so you could see the stars and Milky Way perfectly. We will definitely be back for as many years as they will rent this place! Thank you Margene!

Awesome beach location! Private beach access, beautiful sunsets, spectacular blue moon made our end of summer vacation wonderful. The home was great and pretty accurate to the listing with some normal wear and tear on the furniture. No neighbors was a plus. There is a new home build right behind the home, but currently empty. We have been to Bolivar peninsula several times and certainly plan to come back to this rental.
