About this house rental

Centrally located community of Serra Mesa, sometimes called 'Birdland' because all the streets are named after birds. It is a residential neighborhood just north of Mission Valley, 1/2 mile from the entrance to Interstate 163 that connects to other major freeways, and about a ten minute drive to most attractions, downtown San Diego, Balboa Park, the zoo, Sea World, Qualcomm Stadium, Petco Park, Old Town, Seaport village, and San Diego International airport (SAN). It is 20 minutes to the Tijuana border and 30 minutes to Lego land, the Wild Animal Park, and several casinos. This is great central location.

House has 4 bedrooms. Bedroom next to the Master bedroom doubles as a office with a quality futon if needed for sleeping and has a door to the back yard. Master bedroom and fourth bedrooms both have private baths. Main bath has a claw foot tub that came from Hotel San Diego.

Pool is a nice sized pool with 9 ft deep end, A safety fence and self closing gate. Pool is solar heated and 9 months of year requires no gas heat. To heat pool to 80 degrees Dec - Mar with gas there is a $75 per day fee

Parking is in carport and always plenty of street parking. Even if you have a boat or trailer there is street around corner that has plenty of room and neighbor has security camera watching that street.

The owner is very communicative and quick to respond. The house was full of ants. In the beds, on the couch, on the floors, in the bathrooms, everywhere. We took extra precautions to not have any food or drinks outside of the refrigerator and they were everywhere!

Our family enjoyed staying at this property. It is centrally located to the beaches, shopping, and main attractions. It took approximately 15 minutes to get to our destinations. The pool is amazing and the back yard offers a private setting. If you’re looking for a place that is affordable, safe, and offers certain amenities such as a pool, then consider staying her at the Birdland home.

We stayed at this house for a week. There were 8 adults and it fit all of us comfortably. It is centrally located and about 15 minutes from the Zoo and Sea World as well as the beach. The home is older but was clean and had everything we needed to cook as well as plenty of towels. The pool area was nice and we spent lots of time there daily. We did deal with some sugar ants in the kitchen and a couple of the bathrooms most of the week off and on. The host was wonderful and came over twice because the pool cleaner was not working and he wanted to replace it. The neighborhood was quiet. We would stay here again.

I pick this house because of the beautiful pool and the four bedrooms. The ages of our party were 14 to 69. When we got to the property we discovered that you have to enter through a carport The address was hidden behind a bush at the door of an additional rental property in front of the house. We drove by three times before we actually figured it out.

This house was VERY clean. It was a pleasure to stay in this home, everything we needed was there. Decorations were tasteful and the swimming pool was wonderful. We hope to stay in this home again in a few months. John was a very good host. A+!

This house is about 8 minutes away from my Daughter's apartment. 2 ways to get there: via surface streets or Freeway. Rooms were good sized with private baths for each of two and one shared for the other two which worked out well for our family. General location is excellent for access to most everything in SD.

Loved the property, it was close to everything we wanted to do. Everything was clean, instructions were clear. Unfortunately the weather did not cooperate and we weren’t able to take advantage of the pool and hot tub. Great place and location.

We enjoyed our stay. The description was accurate, was nice to have supplies stocked for ease and gave it a comfortable feel. Beds were very comfortable and linens were fresh and clean. Pool was used a few times despite chilly weather and was great. Hot tub nice and hot with strong jets. The neighborhood was quiet, easy parking, location was centrally located making all our plans during our trip easy to execute. A few minor critiques would be that when we walked in it was a bit musty smelling but cleared after opening windows and such to air it out. The patio door was very noisy when opened or closed which was a bit annoying but minor. We would recommend this VRBO property and also would stay there again in the future.

We had two small families stay together in this home. It was very pleasant and enjoyable. The pool was nice and the owner was informative telling us home to take the cover off and how he wanted things. For me I found this helpful as we had clear expectations and he was kind. There was a lot of floats and toys for the kids to play with in the water. There was plenty of bathrooms and bedrooms for us to use. Overall a nice stay.

A very good spot for our multi-generational family to stay in for our visit to San Diego. The home is clean and well-provisioned and the beds are comfortable. The location is great for hitting the San Diego area sites. Unfortunately, the pool wasn't sufficiently heated during our stay, despite efforts to make it so. Hot tub was warm. An very unpleasant odor in one bathroom made it difficult to use. The property manager was very attentive and responsive but couldn't fix the pool heat or bathroom odor during our week stay. While unfortunate, neither situation was dire. The positives definitely outweighed those negatives for us.

This was a very nice stay- large enough for a family with plenty of extras. Quick drive to downtown, shopping, and easy access to legoland. A safe neighborhood with easy parking and nicely landscaped. Has a fantastic hot tub for a soak, cool pool, handy laundry, and well equipped kitchen.

My family and I stayed at this 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom home. We were excited to find out how close so many of the major attractions were. Lots of room outside to hang out together, and a family room and dining space inside for those few times we had to be indoors. This home had everything we needed and was in a very safe neighborhood.

The house was conveniently located to all the major attractions in San Diego. It was wonderful for the whole family to come back to a great pool and hot tub. The 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms worked really well for 6 adults and 2 kids. The kitchen was well equipped and the house was comfortable throughout. John was very responsive, nice to deal with. He even gave us a late check out so our 2 year old could nap before our flight home which was really appreciated.

My family enjoyed a relaxing stay in the quiet neighborhood of Birdland. The house is very well stocked with kitchen needs. The furnishings are more retro, not modern, which we also liked since everything was not only clean, but comfortable. Loved the pool, which is larger than we expected from the photos; also the jacuzzi was inviting. My sister and I took walks in the neighborhood. We felt completely safe in this interesting part of town. The laundry facilities are great. It is true that each activity we were interested in was within 15-20 min. of the house. John was also always available just in case we had questions. I highly recommend this rental home. It did feel like our “home away from home”.

This was a great location. Everything was close. The pool was wonderful especially after long days walking and site seeing. As others have said, it could use just a little updating but at the same time it was like coming home to grandmas house so there was a bit more of a homey feel than most rentals. The beds were comfortable, the home was very clean, and Jon was extremely thorough in making sure you had great communications. Would definitely stay here again.

This place was great as our home base in San Diego. The house is in a perfect location on a quiet street with no through traffic and just minutes from everything. The house was very clean with plenty of room for everyone.

The best thing about this rental was the location. Everything we wanted to do was within about 20 minutes from the house, even with rush hour traffic. There was plenty of room and the beds were comfortable. The pool and hot tub were nice. The pool is heated using solar energy, so if you're there on a cooler week like we were the pool wasn't super-warm, but it was swimmable. The property owner was responsive to our communication and the experience was great overall. We will definitely go back if we're in San Diego again!

A comfortable property located in a quiet residential neighbourhood, but with easy access to the wider city. It has good sized bedrooms (two of which have en-suite facilities) and a well-equipped kitchen, with a nice outdoor seating area (with grill) next to the pool. We had trouble heating the jacuzzi to start with but the owner got a handyman out next day and it was soon sorted, and was a real treat. Really glad to have found the property and would definitely stay again.

We enjoyed this sweet place! There were 9 of us total and plenty of comfortable sleeping available, plenty of restrooms, towels, washers and dryers and so much more!!!
