About this house rental
Our 6 bedroom, 3 bath home is full of north woods charm. No detail has been spared to make your stay at 'Beautiful Torch Lake' one you will always remember. Our home is situated on 110 feet of private frontage on the crystal blue waters of Torch Lake (voted third most beautiful lake in the world by National Geographic magazine). Imagine yourself sitting on the large dock in a beach chair while the kids swim or boat in the lake. At night, enjoy sitting around a campfire roasting marshmallows under the clear star-filled skies.
Short trip to Alden or Popular Boating Destinations
Our house is only a short drive to downtown Alden – a charming small town with a spirit you have to experience to believe. Alden is known for its flower-lined streets where everyone you meet offers a friendly greeting. The town has cute boutique stores, a deli, family bar, tennis and basketball courts, and a park with a playground. Just at the end of the road are the public boat launch, library and community center. The popular Dockside restaurant is just a mile away by boat or car. Torch Lake’s famous sandbar is also a short boat ride away at the southern end of the lake.
Comfortable Family Home
Our home is situated on the most desirable part of Torch Lake. The sunsets are breathtaking, the lake bottom is hard sand, and because of the way the winds blow, there are very few mosquitoes! A large patio overlooks the water providing wonderful outdoor dining and lounging areas. Ample beach chairs and outdoor furniture, as well as an outdoor charcoal grill, are provided. We include a private dock and mooring buoy for your boat. There are also many opportunities to rent watercraft locally. (Disclaimer: The docks on Torch Lake are not permanent due to ice on the lake during winter. Because the docks are not permanent, guests are not permitted to tie boats, watercraft, or toys of any kind to the dock.)
Our home is fully furnished and we supply all linens, pillows, and towels. The kitchen is fully equipped with microwave, coffee maker, dishes and all pots and pans. We also provide a washer and dryer.
Our 3400 sq. ft. home features a large open kitchen and living room with sweeping views of Torch Lake. The master bedroom has a king sized bed and a bay window with a sitting area overlooking the lake, en suite and sliding glass door opening to the lake side patio. Also on the lakeside, there is another bedroom containing a queen-sized bed with a beautiful view of the lake. There are also 4 more bedrooms with 1 queen bed, 2 twin beds, 2 twin beds and a crib, and a twin bunk beds. The home also features a separate recreation room with a large screen TV, sitting area and Foosball table, for those rainy days to entertain the kids.
Disclaimer: Please remember, this is a quiet street and this cottage is ideally suited for families looking to build life long memories and is definitely NOT a party cottage. My neighbors and I are very close and they have my direct number for any issues.
Note: The house does not have air conditioning.
Pets: Pets are no longer allowed at this property. Thank you.

This is our 2nd time renting this property for our summer family trip. Property is well kept and communication with the owner is a breeze. We love the views, the back yard and the fire pit. Will rent again!

We gathered at this VRBO to attend a family wedding at “Sunset Hill Wedding Barn” in the Central Lake Area. The wedding venue was about 20 minutes from the VRBO.
We had 4 families stay here, our 88 year old parents and 3 of their daughters and their families. The house was plenty spacious with plenty of seating area and dining area for all to eat and sit comfortably. My older parents were able to move around the main parts of the house with it being one story. There is one section of the house, one bedroom, bath, laundry room and 2nd living area that are up a few steps on a higher level.
The house was very clean, uncluttered and furnished neatly and adequately. The outside back porch has plenty of seating and there was a bench swing out further in the yard, toward the lake.
The lake view is awesome and the back of the house faces the west for an awesome sunset view. We were here at the end of May and the days were warmer and the evenings still cooler. There was a perfect cool lake breeze in the evenings.
This VRBO was the perfect experience for our family and we are still talking about how nice it was.
Lastly, the host was very responsive to messages all through our pre booking. Also during our time at the VRBO, he readily responded to all questions we had.
I would highly recommend this VRBO if you are considering it.

Great house, and the view is unbeatable. No AC, so the house can get pretty warm especially since the boiler was still on, but with so many windows, open them up and enjoy the breeze! We will be back next year!

This is our 3rd summer at this unit (12 people, ages 4-82, 5 adults 2 children). I have nothing but praise and excellent comments to say about the owner (Jason) and the facility. It even has a pickle-ball area, which we thoroughly enjoyed!

This was a great home in a great location on Torch Lake. Plenty of space, good kitchen, amazing outdoor spaces including Pickleball! Luckily we brought our own paddles and balls. Just a few things would make this place amazing and make us come here over and over!
It was a hot week (90+ degrees) and this home does NOT have AC. It has a few box fans in the rooms but not enough to make it anywhere near comfortable sleeping. We ended up having to purchase 4 fans for bedrooms and common areas. AC would have made it so much better. We may not rent this house again because of the lack of AC. The twin bedrooms need new mattresses and frames. Super uncomfortable for adults. Upgrading the linens and pillows would really help. Having a few watersport offerings would be nice too -Paddleboards/canoes would have been great to get out on the water. And finally, a bigger add would be to have a fourth bathroom by the bunk bedroom.
Thank you for allowing us to leave a review!

Well stocked with kitchenware and appliances. Sleeping areas large and comfortable. Beautiful & accessible beach with great views from house and patios. Lots of seating indoors and out. The pickle ball court was a pleasant surprise and used for family tournaments. Kind neighbor assisted my sons in locating wave runner mooring. Shallow water allowed paddle boarding and canoeing.

This is the perfect place for our annual family get together. The older members of the family appreciate the minimal number of stairs and our young teens love the basketball court and the fooseball table. The lake is cold but that does not stop the younger generation from going in several times a day. It is also perfect for kayaking. I like the two dining tables which allows us to do a puzzle or sort photos and still all eat together. We look forward to our week at the lake every year.

This was our second annual family vacation and it was well worth it. The house was beautiful, clean, and exactly as advertised. The property was beautiful, private, and right on the lake. Communication with the owners was really easy and they replied promptly. We would definitely stay here again

My family and I really enjoyed our stay. The home had everything we needed. We have stayed at many VRBO homes, and this home had more household items, than we have ever seen, they did not forget anything. We really appreciated the items for children, it made for a comfortable and fun stay for my grandchildren. We will return and recommend this vacation home. The beds in the rooms with twin beds are recommended for children, not as comfortable for adults.

We stayed here for a Girls weekend, and it was perfect! The layout of the home is ideal for our group of ladies. It's a really beautiful home, with everything you need in the kitchen. A very easy check in and check out, and Jason is very quick to respond, if you have any questions. We all really loved this home, and look forward to returning next year!

Words cannot describe the gorgeous views and wonderful accommodations here. Mornings included hearing loons over the lake and hummingbirds visiting flowers near the patio. The serenity is restorative. We will think of this place often and already booked again!

This property gave our family of 12 just the right amount of space to really enjoy Torch Lake. It was exactly as described and had enough rooms that the kids could play in one room while the adults were in another. The internet was fast and strong enough to accommodate all the phones, computers and iPads. The weather was perfect the entire time we were there with just a bit of rain as we were departing. The kitchen was well-equipped with more pots and pans than we could ever use with plenty of dishes and silverware ... even a pot big enough to boil 10 ears of fresh corn.
The location is ideal ... 5 minutes from Alden and 15 minutes to Bellaire. Traverse City and Charlevoix were 45-minute drives.
If we schedule another visit to Northern Michigan, we certainly would consider this property.

One thing the property needs is central air! Some updates on kitchen utensils. Need to take up carpet. But love the location on torch. Lake by dock is a little rocky. But overall great Week with family and friends!

This is the 2nd year we've stayed here. This year my son even had his (very small) wedding during our stay! Everything was great, and Jason is a great communicator and does everything possible to make your stay as memorable as possible. Best value going!

lovely House
This cottage was perfect for our family reunion. we have family members from 10 to 80 years old so the space and ease of access was great. the kitchen was completely furnished and we cooked almost every day. the kids used their kayaks and swam in the lake every day. the second living area was also an asset. the boys also loved the basketball court as one of them has NBA hopes.

Wonderful place on a beautiful lake
The house is wonderful, allowing for both group gathering and personal space. A large back porch provides a sunny and shady spots to sit and enjoy the view of the lake. there is also a small deck right at the water with a bench, table and chairs

Memorial day weekend
We were so pleasantly surprised the pictures did not do the place Justice. It was beautiful we will book again. Thank you for the wonderful weekend. We did rent a pontoon which made it so much more fun!

Awesome home and even better location
We stayed in late May so it was a bit chilly, however the views were still astonishing. The home itself was such a fun layout and had plenty of room.
The only (very minor) negative was that the beds were not comfortable at all. This is subjective so I'm not deducting a star for it, but I would recommend bringing your own pillows just in case (there were plenty there though).
We can't wait to be back (which looks like it'll be in two years since it's already booked up! )

An amazing May long weekend
We spent a long weekend with all of our children and grandson at this Torch Lake home. The house was spacious and layed out perfect for our family. We enjoyed the yard and played games with bonfires at night. It was a great place for us to enjoy our time together.

Here for the weekend
We came up to attend a wedding and rented the house for several family members to stay all together. Beautiful location, peaceful, and well equipped home. Enjoyed our stay immensely.

Great stay!
This was our first experience using a VRBO property. The house was super clean. Communication with the owners was outstanding. There were only 7 of us, but the house provided everyone with space for each person, and space to congregate. We lacked nothing. The area is beautiful, with autumn colors everywhere.

We enjoyed it. I was perfect for what we do. Golf, Boating, Cards and Cooking!

Perfect torch lake view.
We really enjoyed our stay here. Loved the 6 bedrooms spread out, so we had some privacy. It’s close to both Bellaire and Alden, which was convenient for shopping and eating. Views from the house are excellent! I do think the house needs a good deep clean ( Jason kindly refunded some of the cleaning fee). The beds were not very comfortable and bedding could use an upgrade but overall we had a great long weekend.

Great 2 family place
Comfortable, well equipped home for a wonderful stay on beautiful Torch Lake. Spacious for 2 families to spread our for meals or separate activities (kids & adults, men & women, etc.). Great kitchen to cook big meals in (only missing items were a whisk & rubber spatula but other than that every possible thing you could need was there to whip up big family meals)! We enjoyed great sunset views, nice bonfires at night and rented a pontoon from Dockside and enjoyed time on the water. Pride in ownership shines in this home and owners were also responsive to all communication. Highly recommend!
