About this cottage rental
The Camp at Barney Point…the perfect place for family vacations or multi-generational retreats! Outstanding 2,700 sf Lakefront “Adirondack Great Camp”, available seasonally, May to October. Fully heated and air conditioned with 5-zones - one for each bedroom, plus the Great Room. This Camp, or lake house, is an architectural “wow”, reflecting a careful, modern renovation while maintaining its historic, 1920s character. Rustic, yet luxurious. Spacious, but cozy, with many nooks for sitting with a good book, a cup of coffee, or a friend or family member...
The Camp is located at Barney Point on Colchester Point Road, Colchester, VT, on the broad portion of Lake Champlain, with spectacular views to south and west, lake breezes, and picture-perfect sunsets.
The property offers almost an acre of manicured lawns, bluestone walkways, and great landscaping, with two hundred feet of cliff-top lake frontage and panoramic views. Kids and adults alike will enjoy the huge, green, lawn (with pop-up irrigation system) for dining, lounging, croquet, volleyball, ping pong, softball, tag or other games. Sit, read, and relax. Lay in a hammock. Sit back in a comfortable Adirondack chair at the cliff's edge and watch the fun of the season on the water in front of you. What you’ll notice about The Camp at Barney Point is that it offers plenty of space for family time, inside and out of doors - on land and water.
Walk the 2-3 minute meandering path through the woods to the association beach—with amazing southerly views to the most expansive section of Lake Champlain—perfect for lounging or launching kayaks, paddleboards, or other water toys. The lake access here offers clean, shallow water and a sandy bottom—great for kids.
Are you looking for an opportunity while on vacation to actually use the lake instead of just gazing at it?! This vacation destination includes numerous amenities that you'd typically find only at an all-inclusive summer resort. Use The Camp’s guest boat mooring, swim platform, rowboat, paddle boards (4), floats, or kayaks (4). Paddling along the shore to explore the bay, Law Island, and the tip of Colchester Point to the north - or the Winooski River and Burlington Bay to the south - are sure to delight guests of all ages.
Or walk, run or bike the Island Line Trail, a 5-mile scenic wonder, offering access points adjacent to The Camp. This continues north to South Hero, VT when the bike ferry is running, or south to Burlington, another 7.5 miles of scenic beauty! Wonderful Airport Park is just down the road, offering tennis, pickleball, basketball, a historic schoolhouse (hours vary), and running trails - great for adults, kids and pets.
The Camp sleeps 14 - a king bed in the 2nd floor master with direct access to a master bathroom with soaking tub overlooking the lake; 2 twins in a 2nd floor bedroom; 4 twins and a double bed in the 3rd 2nd floor bedroom; a king in the 1st floor bedroom with direct access to the 1st floor bathroom; and 2 twins in the main living area that by day form a seating/lounging area for games and reading.
The Camp offers an amazing kitchen with dishwasher, pantry, gas range, fridge with freezer and ice maker, and utensils/dishes for the largest of gatherings, as well as Silestone bar/seating for 6 in a u-shape. A full W&D is offered on the 2nd floor. The Camp has 2 bathrooms, each with shower. The main en-suite Master bath also has a vintage soaking tub overlooking the lake. There is an outdoor shower as well.
The main floor gathering areas offer ample seating for dining, conversation and games. There is a large, wooden dining table with seating for 10-12. In addition, there is 'living' seating for a large gathering. Views abound from every room, with the screened and outdoor porches and decks offering an extension of the gatherings inside. The Camp offers modern, outdoor composite dining and Adirondack seating. Ample off-road parking is offered, as is a great deal of privacy. Warm up in front of the wood stove, framed by The Camp’s original brick chimney, on those cooler evenings.

Views of Lake are all around. Best stocked home we have stayed in. Kayaks, paddle boards, bikes, yard games were all top notch. Nearby Causeway Trail is amazing and easy for bike trips to downtown. Lovely place to stay.

This house is perfect for a family vacation. Ample outdoor space. Many places to relax and enjoy the view. Large enough for a big family. This place has everything you need and more!! Highly recommend!!

Probably the best family vacation stay we’ve ever had! Well stocked kitchen! Amazing views, wonderful places for everyone to hang out. Great coffee table for a big family puzzle when it rained. 5 min from grocery store, 3 min from pickleball courts, 3 min from the causeway. Very private and quiet. They had everything! Bikes are in great shape, paddle boards, kayaks, stunning yard. I’d give it 6 stars if I could. A family vacation with memories we will cherish forever!

Where to begin! Professionally manicured yard with panoramic views of a scenic and historic stretch of Lake Champlain. A shed full of recreational equipment for the entire family: bicycles, kayaks, SUPs, lawn games... We LOVED the "old time" feel of the well-maintained camp building decorated with collectables, but with all the modern amenities (AC in all the bedrooms)! Multiple gathering options both indoors and outdoors. Lots of natural light, a well appointed kitchen, plenty of towels for the whole family. The property and owners had an overall welcoming feel.

We rented the Camp for our son’s graduation from UVM. It was everything we wanted and more! Plenty of room for family to come stay, well stocked with everything we needed, a beautiful property, fully equipped for fun, perfect location. Best VRBO property we have ever rented.

The property is gorgeous! Above and beyond supply of bikes, kayaks, paddle boards and lawn games. Amazing sunset views. It is a very special place.

Loved everything about the camp! Great selection of bikes, kayaks, SUP and yard games. The kitchen was fully stocked with utensils to cook! Great little cozy nooks in the house and the beds were comfy! Sunsets were great and being so close to Burlington was so nice! We rented a boat for the day and that was awesome, would have done that 2 days had the flooding not happened!

Spectacular location overlooking Lake Champlain with awesome sunsets. Interior is well equipped and comfortable. Very impressed by the good condition and number of bikes, kayaks and other outdoor equipment. The Camp was a perfect fit for our fun, family vacation.

Our family came from both coasts, and in the middle to commune in the place where their parents grew up. It just was a wonderful place to stay and enjoy the people you love the most. The entire property is beautifully kept, unbelievably equipped, and in a perfect setting.
An additional bathroom would be nice (there was 11 of us) but only in afterthought.

We were looking for a home that would comfortably sleep 8 people and a dog, but also giving some of those people their own beds because 4 of them were teenagers and this home totally accommodated in that way. There was also plenty of space in the common areas and outdoors. The location is perfect, a beautiful yard with only one close neighbor. The lake and swimming area was wonderful, although we were there during the floods and so that did impact the use of the lake unfortunately but couldn't be helped, otherwise it would have been perfect. We used the bikes, paddleboards, cornhole, ping pong table and firepit. We will definitely come back we had a great week unwinding and enjoying time with friends and family. Thank you for having such a gorgeous space to share with others.

After a few years of renting on Isle La Motte, we decided to move our family gathering closer to Burlington and found this gem of a house, or "camp" as it's called. The property is generously sized, well maintained inside and out and has everything anyone from ages 3 to 85 could need to have fun in all weather. The beds were very comfortable and the owners clearly gave a lot of thought to making it easy to share space in a house that is quite open all around.
We made use of the bikes, the kayaks, the paddle boards, the boat mooring, the dock, the corn hole game, the ping pong table, the swings, the outdoor dining that seats 12, the TWO indoor dining areas that both seat 8-10 (the front porch was a big favorite at all hours of the day), the grill, the kitchen (best VRBO kitchen we have ever encountered; just a salad spinner away from being "perfect"!). This home is whimsical, interesting, utilitarian and comfortable. We highly recommend it for an intimate family gathering.

Our family enjoyed the water and the toys provided. The water was a little chilly but did not discourage anyone from getting in. The views from the backyard were breathtaking!

A true camp experience. Very peaceful and relaxing. Something for everyone. Beautiful sunsets. Comfy areas for sitting. Beautiful area. Loved walking the causeway.

Our first time to Vermont and we loved everything about this place. We came in early June and got some colder weather so loved having the indoor fireplace in the mornings and evenings. The kids still swam and we enjoyed paddle boarding and riding bikes on the causeway close by. The views were beautiful, fun yard games, and lots of outdoor activities. Beds were very comfortable, kitchen had everything we needed. Would love to come stay again if we’re ever back in Vermont!

The minute we entered this property, I already knew I wanted to come back! It's extremely well appointed with just the right amount of "stuff." The beds are superbly comfortable; the towels are lovely and there is a bin of incredibly soft and warm wool blankets which we made regular use of in the evenings. We used the wood stove on one evening and it was like a bit of heaven. Just an amazing stay.

This was our second stay at Barney Point and Burt and Marilee's gorgeous home! Cozy and inviting with spectacular views and anything and everything you would need- I mean literally! The beds were so comfortable-several of our guests had Oura rings or watches that monitored their sleep and they all recorded their best sleep scores ever! Our son was graduating from Medical School and we had a few of his friends and parents over for a cookout-everything you need to cook or entertain is there- platters, pitchers, two grills, coolers, lawn games, ping pong, board games, comfy chairs-all our guests fell in love. Another benefit is that it is very close to the bike trail and causeway and we took the bikes that are at the camp and were able to ride out everyday for exercise. Kayaks and paddleboards, life preservers etc. were also provided but it was too cold to do that. Finally the house is really spectacular, the architecture and design-it's an old camp that has been fixed up but maintains its original charm, character and feel. Since our last stay they have added mini split heating and air conditioning which helped as we had a few days of cold weather! Highly recommend!

We had an amazing stay at this property. The house is so cool and charming with beautifully appointed local decorations and art. The entire house and property were fully stocked with everything one would want/need while on vacation and the house was immaculately clean. The views of the lake were incredible as well and the outside seating and games were great. Thank you for sharing your wonderful and special camp. We hope to come back again one day!

We have stayed at the Wiley’s beautiful home 3 times so far and the reason we keep going back is that the hosts are really professional and kind. The house is immaculate and it’s location is high above the shores of Lake Champlain, offering plenty to do during the day and spectacular sunsets to watch each night. We will be back!

Seven family members stayed here for one of our son's wedding in Winooski. This location feels remote which is part of its charm but it really is within minutes of anywhere you want to go! Top 5 things we loved! 1. Open Concept with unique artwork that told us how much the owners care for the Camp! 2. Incredible property situated on a cliff overlooking the water! The result-amazing sunsets, bonfires and stunning star gazing! 3. Beds/pillows were so comfy! 4. Everything you needed was there! Just love the kitchen. 5. A wide variety of sports equipment gives you every reason to venture onto the trails, water or even playing lawn games. Here is the one problem I had with the property - my spouse said she was 'not leaving'! Marilee and Burt are great to work with! Once you book and stay at the Camp, we're sure you'll be planning the next time you plan to stay here! Hoped this helps!

Our group was made up of four couples. We had a great time! The house has everything you might ever need, is very comfortable and has a spectacular view of the lake. Our group would definitely rent this property again.

This property was amazing! We had a broad range of ages, from three years old up to seventy, and each of us loved staying here. The couches and the nook in the living room are perfect for lounging after a long day. So comfortable! The view is absolutely stunning. It can’t even be put into words. And it is quiet but close enough to the activities that we wanted to do - the beach, Vermont Teddy Bear Factory, seeing Burlington, etc.
The beds are super comfortable. There were plenty of towels and plenty of toilet paper. The kitchen had every thing we needed. Check-out procedures are the norm - start a load of laundry, start the dishwasher, take out your garbage. The owners are very quick to respond if you need anything. And they are so organized with a book that answers literally any question you might have, from when to take out the garbage to how to turn on the air conditioning and lock the french doors.
This vacation was just the break I needed from my hectic schedule. Sitting on the balcony, the screened porch or in an Adirondack chair and listening to the waves roll in….

We had multiple generations come together for a family vacation to celebrate some milestone birthdays at The Camp and it was perfect. There was a little something for everyone to enjoy. Check in was easy, communication from hosts was clear, and it was stocked with everything we needed and more. I would highly recommend a stay here.

Perfect location; Outstanding in every way for us
Sunsets over the lake ... how many times have people used the word "stunning"? This location is one of those stunning experiences.
Location: Very large lawn with fire pit surrounded by many adirondack chairs facing the lake; swings; hammock; ping pong table; large table for gathering or eating; famous Vermont bike path easily accessible.
Numerous places to sit and be quiet: a porch; a two person sitting area adjacent to the porch; a table near the two BBQ grills.
What I am trying to say is that the combination of its location with the facility itself and easy access and response from the owners was perfect for our family reunion.

Property was a great experience. The camp was cozy, yet spacious with lots of wonderful sitting areas. It was in a good location, had a well stocked kitchen, lots of sporting equipment and yard games. The view was wonderful and the sunsets were amazing. Something for everyone.

Wonderful Vermont getaway!
We had such a wonderful week in the Malletts Bay home, and the owners were so welcoming and communicative. On warm sunny days, we enjoyed the paddle boards and kayaks, as well as the outdoor firepit (with s'mores!). On colder, rainy days, we played games inside in front of a fire or sat out in the fully screened in porch. We did not miss having a TV at all. There is wifi for teenagers who can't stand to completely disconnect. But we appreciated the opportunity to spend less time on technology and more time as a family. Huge thank you to the property owners for being so communicative and welcoming!
