About this house rental
Welcome to La Maison Santa Barbara. Nestled near the busy downtown corridor and with the coastal beaches just a few blocks away, this super popular vacation home provides an ideal balance of quiet, privacy, and access to all Santa Barbara offers. Take a stroll to Stearns Wharf, sunbathe on West Beach, surf at Leadbetter. Dine on local seafood, go wine tasting, and boutique shop. Swim, SUP, kayak alongside dolphin pods or head to the Channel Islands to snorkel or scuba in kelp forests.
The SPACE
Behind a classic white picket fence, a lush front courtyard with blooming roses, fragrant lavender, and a shaded bistro table is a welcoming approach to this exceptional property. The entry sunroom has something for everyone: a four-top table, plenty of games, and a twin-trundle day bed. With volume ceilings adding grand scale to the bright, big, and cheerful interiors, large windows, hardwood floors, classic trim molding, and Victorian details further define the character of this traditional 1,700 square-foot home.
The living room with a corner sectional-sofa sleeper offers plenty of seating around a large, flat-screen smart television with cable tv and Netflix. Modern technology is efficient here, with reliable cell reception and fast WiFi. The Bluetooth sound system and "DIY photo booth props" add another (and potentially hilarious!) layer of fun memory-making.
The gourmet kitchen is a favorite with those who love to cook, offering granite countertops, a farm sink, a stainless steel refrigerator, a 5-burner gas range, loads of dishes, cookware, utensils, colorful plastic dishware for the kiddos, and "spa-safe" plastic wine glasses for the grown-ups. It's all there! Kanaloa's Seafood Market is just around the corner, too, so be sure to check out the fresh catch of the day for tonight's home-cooked meal.
The dining room seats up to 10 people at a long, wooden table with custom lighting overhead creating great ambiance. In addition, the antique sideboard creates a convenient zone for delicious meals waiting to be served. Not cooking tonight? There are great restaurants with locally sourced ingredients, outside dining on the State Street Promenade, a theatre, and great shopping in Paseo Nuevo Mall in the next block.
Two guest rooms with queen-size beds share a Jack-n-Jill style bathroom with dual sinks and large, walk-in tile shower. The third bedroom features another comfy queen-size bed, generous size closet and a door to the back yard making it perfect for anyone seeking a little more autonomy with a private entrance. The second bathroom adjacent to the kitchen offers an authentic claw-foot tub with a drenching shower head.
The professionally landscaped backyard boasts a large patio and peaceful space surrounded by a tall, private fence and a massive century-old avocado tree. Please pick the avocados when in season! Whether enjoying gathering together around the extended dining table that seats twelve or just soaking in the hot tub after hours, the backyard space is private, shaded, and offers plenty of off-street parking. The hot tub is fully enclosed with a latched gate so don't worry for a second about the little ones safety. Central air-conditioning, a queen-size air mattress, plush bathrobes, and a laundry room, are the final punctuations to this downtown charmer.
Finally, check out the extensive Welcome Book (at the house and linked in your welcome message) which offers a vast array of things to do, places to see, travel tips, outdoor activities, and local happenings like weekly Farmer's Markets, monthly Maker's Fair, annual festivals, and experiences not to be missed in this fantastic coastal playground. It cannot be overstated how convenient and centrally located this home is for a large group that wants to be in the midst of city life in a world-class, historic town yet truly feels like a home away from home.

Wonderful place in great location, walking distance from most attractions. Perfect for 3 couples. Only issue was that one bathroom shower was a little uncomfortabke due to placement of faucets and shower head, but was definitely usable. Owner Rachel was easy and pleasant to communicate with.

We had a wonderful time at the house on W Ortega Street!! The house was clean and ready when we got there and we were so impressed with the property! One of the fans in a bedroom was broken. We contacted the host Rachel and she and her husband came by and fixed it!! We did a food tour and shopping on State Street and a bike ride at the beach! Overall our stay was amazing!! Thanks Rachel and VRBO for a great experience!!

I picked La Maison based on the location so our family (three generations) could walk easily around downtown. It was great to have the convenience of great local restaurants and shopping within a close distance but far enough (a block away) from the main area. Rachael was very communicative. It was a pleasure to stay here.

La Maison is situated in a great part of town a block from St. Street and 7 from the beach. The house is beautifully renovated and furnished and we were very comfortable there. Rachael made it really easy to do and find everything too. Highly recommend staying here.

Our party of 5 women friends stayed here for three days and we really loved it. the home is clean, extremely well-appointed, lots of amenities and just a block from downtown State Street, so everything was available to us. For a street so close to downtown, it was very quiet. We enjoyed the seating on the patio (although we never did get in the hot tub!) and the dining room and living room were super comfortable, too. All of the beds were comfortable--even the trundle. We definitely recommend, and will stay here again next time we're in Santa Barbara.

The home was fantastic for our group of 5. Location was great, place was super clean and nicely decorated, and way bigger than it looked from the street. We only had one short night to spend there, wish we would have had more time to explore the area.

The layout for our family was perfect and La Maison was fully equipped, with wonderful, up to date decor. It was close to everything downtownwith plenty of parking.

We had a wonderful stay in Santa Barbara at La Maison! So close to restaurants and shopping. Very convenient location. Because we ate in we noticed that the kitchen is lacking serving bowls and platters and there aren’t any food storage containers in the kitchen.

Wonderful home! Very clean and comfortable! Great location and tall ciellings. Bigger than the photos and great location! Very nice host! Only issue was quiet hours at 10 so hard to enjoy the hot tub outside. Neighbors were a little close.

Our family of 5 had a great time at this house. The inside has many modern touches without taking away from its historic roots and charm. The back patio was a perfect place to relax and surprisingly peaceful in the middle of town. The location could not be beat. Close to State street with many shops and restaurants. Highly recommended.

We had such a great stay at this house. It was an amazing location. Super close to State St and lots of restaurants and shops. Also walkable to the beach (though weather precluded a visit during our stay). A great coffee shop was a 1-minute walk away. Neighborhood was very quiet during our stay. Easy parking for many cars. Great set up for kids, pack n play included, along with dishes and utensils for kids. Sun room has games and blocks and a very comfy daybed with trundle that my 7 yr old loved sleeping on. The layout was great, 3 fairly spacious bedrooms and doors to close on a living room and the sun room for additional semi-private spaces. Big, comfy dining table indoors and outdoors. We also enjoyed the hot tub. Several space heaters, robes, and extra blankets/pillows available. Hosts were very responsive and easygoing. They even had a nice welcome note and bottle of wine at check in! Highly recommend. We will definitely be back!

Delightful and spacious home that was just steps away from everything in downtown Santa Barbara. We didn't fully appreciate just how central the location was until we arrived and barely had to touch our car to get around to most activities and dining! This clean and tastefully decorated home is on a quiet street two blocks from State Street and offers a relaxing retreat-type feel with modern amenities. Highly recommended!

Had an incredible stay at this beautiful Santa Barbara property! Easy and frequent communication with the host. We had a slight hiccup with the sink, and she was quick to respond and help us resolve the issue. The location truly could not be better. Walkable all over Santa Barbara! House itself was clean and much more spacious than the listing even shows. Big and cozy bedrooms, well stocked kitchen, lovely common areas. Would love to stay again one day!
