Property was quiet, secluded and tranquil. The grounds are well landscaped and maintained. Host offered bottled water upon arrival, and gave us many suggestions on what to do in the area (dining, hiking, wine tasting, etc.)
5.0 / 5.0
The setting is charming. A huge garden with a few buildings, isolated from the outside world. The house is all ceramic tiles 'from yore' which gives it an antique feeling (but with air conditioning and all the conveniences of home). One small comment. This home is dog friendly as advertised and has friendly dogs, who you will come in contact with.
The host is easily the most helpful host we have ever dealt with. Informative, friendly and helpful. All her suggestions really improved an already great trip.

This place is amazing! House is on beautifully landscaped parcel of land and the owners are gracious hosts. House has everything you could possibly need for a relaxing stay.

This property was nice, but isolated. if this is what you're looking for , it's perfect. If you want access to town, restaurants, bars, don't stay here. the property itself is beautiful, just a bit far from action. Also, the wineries in Santiago are very far apart. So if you're after visiting them, stay in town and do organized day trips. The owner was very helpful.

Casa Ishi is like a dream you don't want to wake up from. Two gorgeous acres of gardens, a breezy, comfortable home, thoughtful little touches, prime location, charming hosts...there's nothing not to love here.
The house itself is situated on a larger property with several buildings, including Michelle and Teiji's beautiful historic home. It was wonderful being able to wander around the garden and relax in the shade with a bottle of wine at the end of a day. My daughter spent the bulk of her time running around with two new puppies that arrived just 3 weeks before us, and charmed the pants off us all. While we were there, the peaches and avocados were ripe and we sampled quite a few of both. There are upper and lower terraces at the back of the house, overlooking the valley but still well protected by trees and vegetation. We had a leisurely breakfast on the terrace every day and watched the sunset every night.
As a foodie and cook, I appreciated that the kitchen was outfitted with everything needed to create wonderful meals, in addition to a barbecue on the nearest patio for grilling. The bed linens were absolute heaven to sleep on and an abundance of plush bath linens were provided. The beds were so comfortable I never even missed my own while we were there. There is an air conditioner available if you need one, but we preferred throwing open all of the windows at the front and back of the house and cooling everything down with the glorious cross breezes that brought in smells from the garden as well as distant sounds of life from the valley.
The town of Pirque is the epicenter of some of the best things Maipo Valley has to offer. A few of the valley's best wineries and restaurants are a 30 minute drive or less, including Concha Y Toro (in the center of Pirque) which we learned is the largest winery in the world. Gorgeous landscapes and recreation in the Andean foothills are also close by and accessible by car. Michelle and Teiji have great recommendations for places to visit should you need them.
In Michelle and Teiji we found two like-minded souls who we are so lucky to have met. They graciously hosted us for an evening of good food (lamb roasted in their mud oven!), good drink and good storytelling. Travel is great but connecting with people when you travel is even better. We couldn't have had a better experience than we did thanks to these two and we will forever be grateful for the time we spent with them.

Our host, Michelle was great and took great care of us. If you love nature and being away from everything but also close to the vineyards, then this place is a must. Close to the Vinyard in the area and the property has so many nice places to enjoy the outdoors. We cooked steak on the grill an was able to connect with the outdoors and enjoy the sunset.

I really can’t say enough about this wonderful property and the owners, Michelle and Teiji. It was truly an amazing property. The fruits that they have are abundant and very good. The garden is well manicured, lush, green and gorgeous. I would have been happy just staying at the property the whole time. Michelle was an great host and helped us with everything, literally everything.
You need a rental car as the location is not within walking distance of markets and restaurants. Uber, DiDi and taxis aren’t reliable at that location.
For us, the location and property was exactly what we wanted. We could hear the Maipo River and that was very relaxing especially while sitting on the terrace with some of the amazing Chilean wines we bought.
It is close to a couple of wineries, Santa Rita and Concha Y Toro. Santiago is about a 45-60 minute drive.
We would definitely stay there again!

Great Place
The house is on a beautiful property in wine country and the Andes mountains. It was a great place to start and end the day - we loved sitting out in the yard and our son couldn’t stop picking and eating grapes and oranges off of the trees. Michelle was super helpful in giving us suggestions on how to best enjoy the area. Overall, it was a great experience.

Best VRBO stay
I stayed in this property for for 1 week before traveling to southern Chile. The owners are extraordinary and took making my stay as good as possible to extreme measures. The grounds are beautiful and meticulously kept. The house I stayed in was perfect in everyway. I do not have any negative remarks on the property, location or managers. Everything was perfect!

Wine Country Oasis
We had a wonderful stay at Casa Ishi and hope to return in the future. The property was perfectly situated at the foothills of the Andes, in close proximity to wine country. The owners were responsive to all of our questions, before and during our stay. They were happy to show us how to use the mud oven, as well as offering fresh herbs to use in our cooking. The grounds were beautiful, and we enjoyed our evenings, sitting under a grape canopy, with a glass of wine. I would highly recommend this property for those looking for a few days of R and R, or as a longer-term rental and a great spot to base your stay in Chile.

A lovely retreat in the Maipo Valley
This was a perfect property and home for good friends to stay while visiting wineries and restaurants in the Maipo Valley and exploring all parts of Santiago. The lush gardens were an oasis in this arid region.

Beautiful retreat
The accommodations are wonderful and the garden is spectacular. It was ideal for 4 adults. There is plenty to do nearby but the real pleasure is the setting; a patio and gardens to sit, eat, and drink wine. The house is fully furnished with all you need. I hope to return for a longer stay.

A Slice of Paradise
We recently spent seven days at Casa Ishi. The gardens are magnificent, bursting with color, and orange and avocado trees abundant with fruit. A romantic sitting area under the grape arbor is perfect for an evening of tapas and wine. Mornings on the terrace with a good book are especially relaxing. The location is convenient and offers easy access for day trips to hot springs, white water rafting, horseback riding or a bike ride through wine country and wine tasting. The hosts, Michelle and Teiji, are very accommodating and make a genuine effort to ensure your privacy yet are available should you need anything or have any questions regarding the surrounding area. We were two couples and the house was very spacious. I would recommend Casa Ishi without hesitation.

Gardens were beautiful, had a great experience, and the wineries were delightful
Everything was more than we possibly could have imagined! Grocery within 3 miles, numerous vineyards. We cruised from Buenos Aires to San Antonio, then 5 more days here at Casa Ishi.
Thank you Michelle

Beautiful Chilean Sanctuary
What an amazing place. The house was beautiful, surrounded on one side by serene gardens, lots of fruit trees, and on the back the sounds of the river below to put you to sleep at night. House was tastefully decorated, spotless, patio out back was perfect for long, leisurely dinners on warm, summer nights. You fee like you're out in the countryside, but a 20 minute drive away is the Santiago metro system, and easy access to the big city. Michelle was a thoughtful and respectful host. We'll definitely be back on our next trip to Chile.

What a marvelous oasis!
From start to finish staying at Casa Ishi was a wonderful experience! Michelle was quick with all email communications, clear on directions and truly a gem to work with. Michelle and her husband made us feel welcome on their property from the moment we arrived. There are so many little spots to sit and enjoy your surroundings, it made it hard to choose where to sit. The house was clean, well appointed and warmly furnished. Recommendations as to where to visit, where to eat, and what to see were readily available. This was really a wonderful experience and we would highly recommend staying at Casa Ishi! Robert and Jeaneen Avery, Mark and Mary Lobaugh

Spectacular Cottage in Garden setting
Casa Ishi was a perfect place for our stay in the Maipo Valley. The house was wonderful and clean with plenty of space, nice amenities and surrounded by lovely gardens. Michelle was welcoming and very helpful with the cottage as well as local attractions. We enjoyed man wonderful dinners on the terrace using the barbecue provided. Whilst the house is on the fringe of the city it was an easy subway ride right to the heart of downtown. Definitely recommended for people with a rental car who like to explore the local area, wineries etc.

Amazing relaxing retreat near Santiago
Casa Ishi is the perfect location for your stay in Chile. 45 minutes from the Santiago airport and a short drive to several historic wineries. Enjoy breakfast on your private terrace overlooking the Maipo River. Wander the garden full of so many fruit trees (you can pick avocado, loquat, orange, apricot, peach, and more). Relax in the shade with your choice of seating areas. Adventure out to so many different wine valleys, to the coast to visit the famous poet Pablo Neruda’s home at Isla Negra, to a fabulous nearby farmer’s market, and so much more. Casa Ishi gets my highest recommendation. You will love it!

Great place to hang out! Quiet, tranquil with just the sound of the river flowing, birds chirping
Michelle was very accommodating and responsive. The place was clean. Michelle even gave us the extra home so we can spread out for no additional charge. The place is clean, organized, beautifully landscaped and easy access to the winery in PIRQUE. I will go back there again given another opportunity.
Michelle even arranged our transport to the airport. Wonderful host!

Beautiful property! Comfortable bungalow!
This house/bungalow is on a large property with lovely gardens, fruit and nut trees. The owners were welcoming and helpful. Quiet and tranquil. Plenty of places to relax in the gardens or the patios around the house. Close to many restaurants and wineries, the owners information packet is very helpful in grounding you to the area. Overall a lovely stay! We stayed 3 nights and were sorry to leave!

Exceptional Grounds with Excellent Location
Had a family group of 5 adults stay for 4 nights. The grounds are stunningly beautiful. All 3 bedrooms had very comfortably firm beds. The location in Pirque provided excellent access to Maipo region wineries and good hiking up in the Maipo valley canyon.
The property has a kitchen that is basic, functional, but not large. Dining area readily accommodated the 5 of us. Weather for us was exceptional so we did not really get to try the HVAC capabilities.
I am very stingy with 5 star ratings, hence my 4 star rating

Gorgeous and Perfect Getaway an hour from Santiago
If you are in Santiago and looking for a great stay - away from the bustle in beautiful countryside surroundings then this is the place. Very clean and superbly kept gem just outside Santiago in the Maipo valley. An amazing guesthouse on a larger property with an amazing garden full of fruit trees. I cant say enough how amazing this location is and how friendly the owners are. The guest house is immaculate as is the whole estate and all kept very tidy and clean. If you need to get away from the bustle of Santiago this a great spot to explore the nearby countryside and get away from it all for some peace and tranquility. Vey close to Pirque and surrounding vineyards as well as easy access to Cajon del Maipo. Always hate to give away these gems but felt I should share it. we will definitely be going back very soon

Garden of Eden
We enjoyed 4 nights in this peaceful, gorgeous oasis. There were many things to do in the surrounding area which the lovely hosts helped us organize, wine tours, and tastings, fine dining, donkey riding in the mountains , but we were equally happy enjoying the lush setting from our casita balcony. The casita was spacious and well stocked, beds were very comfortable with crisp ironed sheets. hot The fruit trees and vegetables from the garden made dining in a pleasure. A property not to be missed.

Fantastic!
Michelle and her husband, Keije, are wonderful hosts and Casa Ishi is amazing! We felt like we were staying in a botanical garden. The home is extremely comfortable and easy access to many sites in the region. We are a family of four and the accommodations were more than enough for us. My two boys each got their own room which was the only time on our two week visit to Chile and Easter Island that they enjoyed that luxury. Michelle provided recommendations for drivers and tour guides which worked out well. She also encouraged us to pick vegetables and fruits from the garden. Everyday we made phenomenal salads to accompany our dinners and had fresh fruit with our lunches. Overall, our stay at Casa Ishi was very memorable and special.

Beautiful setting in which to relax with an excellent well-appointed house.
The pictures don't do this property justice. The grounds are tranquil and lush while the house provides everything one would need for a very comfortable stay. Michelle and Keije were incredible hosts and ensured we had everything we needed during our stay. Loved the beds and bedding as well. Great place to unwind after hiking, visiting Valparaiso, or riding miles into the Andes. My husband, son and I are so glad we chose Casa Ishi!

Excellent property even better than the photos!!
Stayed for two wonderful weeks on this beautiful Property. Michelle and her husband where wonderful hosts and made sure we were very comfortable. The fruit trees on the property give sweet aromas. The grapes that grow on several different vines are delicious. Kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed. Beds were VERY comfortable and many pillows to choose from. Hot water was instant and very hot. Great location for exploring the vineyards. Also for exploring the near by volcano and mule rides. Perfect for a family. Would highly recommend this property!!!

Chilean paradise as fruit drops in my lap
Gorgeous property with fruit trees, flowers, herbs, and green. The lodging has a charm indicative of Tuscany meets New Mexico but I was told is very Chilean and quit beautiful. Super comfortable beds and quaint private bedrooms with a wonderful hot full pressure shower in the bathroom I had. Easy to cook and our family even used the clay oven and the BBQ to make fun food while we were there(Little Chilean market nearby and bigger store ten minutes away). Multiple lounging deck areas with views of the canyon or gardens. Every night I went to sleep listening to the river cascade below. We sat and read, took naps, ate fruit and day tripped to the El Morado Glacier nearby to hike, Latin America's largest winery(Concha Y Toro) and walked/hiked in a nearby Reserve(Clarillo). Not far from Santiago if you crave "city" while staying there. We checked out villages and there were multiple vineyards around for wine lovers. Such variety!
It was incredibly restful and our hosts were awesome, coming to chat, check in, and see if there was any help on where to go and what to see.
I highly recommend.

Wonderful!
The grounds at Casa Ishi are beautiful w lots of fruit trees and lawn furniture. Very relaxing. Plus wonderful adventures await nearby. We hiked El Morado glacier one day, rode mules to the top of the Andes and saw a condor another day, and then went to the largest winery in the world today, El Concho Del Toro.

Four of us (two couples) traveled to this wonderful villa to get a few days of rest, relaxation, hikes and wine tours and the villa was the PERFECT place for all of the above. We stayed for five nights and wish we could have stayed longer!
The property is about about four acres including the VRBO villa, owner's house and ground keeper's house. The buildings are spaced apart so you will have a lots of privacy and quiet. We were fortunate that the owners were in town during our stay and they were gracious hosts. They welcomed us to their home for a glass of wine and ensured that we had good suggestions for restaurants and activities each day.
The pictures posted in the VRBO profile do not do the property justice. Both the grounds and the villa are immaculate. We had a great time drinking wine and cooking in the well-stocked kitchen. We spent many hours relaxing and reading on the private terrace and chillier evenings inside listening to music on the iphone docking station that is provided.
The owners highlighted the fact that Chile has a zero drinking and driving policy and so they provided us with the contact details of a driver they like to use. The driver is well worth the investment as he delivered us to and from the airport, took us to an amazing array of wineries and restaurants (all of which he booked for us) as well as a fantastic day trip to Valparaiso.
I have traveled every continent in the world and can say that I have hardly felt so comfortable or relaxed away from home. Thanks to the owners of the villa for maintaining such an incredible and special place!!

I arrived february 6 for two nights with my family (8 adults and 2 babies). From the moment I arrived until I left the experience was perfect. My room was clean and lovely, it is so peaceful there. The river sound is the perfect melody for relax. The beds are so comfortable. The main guesthouse is spacious and beautifully decorated, have a great kitchen, dining and living rooms. Casa Ishi have majestic gardens, we enjoyed nice moments in their lovely terraces under the trees. The location is great, 30-40 minutes from Santiago downtown and near to the natural sanctuary of the Cajon del Maipo. Michele and her husband are very friendly and welcoming. I can only say that this is a perfect place to disconnect from the city and relax.

We travelled to Chile for a quick getaway to celebrate two birthdays. The plan was to get some time in the wine country and a bit hiking in the Andes. This villa was perfect for both.
The owner, caretaker and private chef could not have been nicer, and they made everything easy on their guests.
The property is as beautiful as the pictures, and the guest villa works well for two or three couples.
If you are interested in visiting vineyards, those near Pirque are great and there is no need to travel very far. the William Fevre Winery was our favorite and is an easy twenty minute drive. The restaurants at Santa Rita and Concha Y Toro also looked very nice.
We had a birthday dinner prepared in the house and Marco made an excellent four course meal with wine paired for each course. We dined on the deck with the main course served inside.
Travel to the Bellavista area in Santiago was about 45 minutes, and we had Marco drive us in for a great meal on a busy Saturday night. If you plan on drinking any wine out at any restaurants bear in mind the zero tolerance law in Chile. We saw several police checkpoints making random stops of cars throughout our stay.
We were glad to have a driver.
The hiking beyond San Jose de Maipo was about an hour away and is a great way to see the glaciers and some of the giant peaks beyond Santiago.
If you want to get away from tourists and relax, this is the place.

Lovely property set in a lovely location with beautiful gardens. The location is fantastic, just a short drive away from the Concha y Toro vineyards and about 40 minutes from airport. Great location for touring the vineyards or the centre of Santiago. There are a number of restaurants nearby and lunch at the Concha y Toro vineyard was wonderful and reasonably priced too. The booking was very straightforward and the owner Michelle made sure everything was organised perfectly for our stay. The caretaker and his wife were very helpful. We really enjoyed our stay in the house and would thoroughly recommend it to anyone not wanting to stay in a hotel, this is much much better.
Thanks Michelle

What a beautiful spot; we loved every minute of our visit!! Everything was better than we hoped for!! The owners greeted us when we arrived, showed us around and were so informative. There was a yummy bottle of local Chilean wine awing for us for our first dinner!! The house was beautifully appointed and very comfortable. We were thrilled with the kitchen as we have rented other places that were the bare minimum. It was also sooo nice not to have to pack towels & sheets. The beds were made and the towels set out for us. The bathrooms had extra supplies if needed. We had Maria's chicken one night and recommend it highly!! The food store was an easy drive and well stocked. We sat out both nights after dinner and enjoyed the beautiful night sky!! We were very sad to leave on Sunday and since it is such an easy drive from Santiago, hope to return on our next visit!!

Seldom does one find such a place as Casa Ishi. From the moment of our arrival on a Monday afternoon until we left on Saturday evening, we felt as if we had uprooted our neighborhood back in Texas and transplanted it to Pirque, Chile. We were fortunate that the owners of the property were on premises the entire time we were there and really made us feel at home. We had asked for an arrival meal to be prepared, to ease our transition into the week, after flying all night from DFW. Because the caretakers wife was on another job site that day, she had prepped our meal the evening before and Michelle, the owner, graciously completed the preparation and invited us to have lunch with her and her husband - at their house! What an introduction! Over the course of the week, we were introduced to friends and neighbors, developed an evening cocktail/wine ritual and even had them to our house to share a dinner one night and had a progressive dinner between their house and ours, another night. We were recommended to a guide/chef, Marco, by the owners, who picked us up one morning, gave us a fantastic highlights tour of Santiago, took us the huge produce market and to the fresh fish market where we purchased items for that nights dinner. We then were taken to lunch and a quick little tour of Barrio Italia and back home to Casa Ishi, where we assisted Marco in preparation of our dinner and enjoyed a great evening and wonderful food and fellowship. We only left the property two other times - both of those days were to take a wine excursion that we had planned on our own. Each day, we actually shortened our normal touring time, because we couldn't wait to get back "home". Because we like to cook and hang out at home, this place was perfect for us. It's what we do at home in Texas, with our friends and neighbors. Are there lots of things to do off-site, while staying at Casa Ishi - absolutely! Did we do a lot of them? Absolutely not! Why? Because it was just that relaxing and pleasant. The pictures on the site, really don't convey the atmosphere of the place.
A couple of tips - Unless you want to depend on a daily driver, you absolutely need a car. The convenience of knowing that you could go anywhere at anytime is great.
- Perez Cruz Winery, an absolute must
- Matetic Winery in San Antonio Valley, also a must, even if just for lunch.
- A day trip into Santiago with a guide is well worth the time and expense
- Mud oven pizza - need I say more?

Casa Ishi as the photos show is a wonderful facility fully equipped with every amenity for a stress-free, carefree stay. But it is what is not shown in the pictures that makes the place so special. Every morning before breakfast just outside our door we could pick. plums (2 varieties!), oranges, lemons, avocados, grapes, figs, peaches, nectarines and more. And the owners recommended an excellent driver who took us to sites in the city, nearby villages, one specializing in pottery (we bought a bunch) and many local wineries (great tours and tastings). Maria, the on-site caretaker's wife and an excellent cook, at our request prepared several delicious dinners for us using an outdoor wood-fired mud oven. Even with rush hour traffic we could visit and enjoy excellent restaurants in Santiago. Don't forget the friendly dogs, Kuro (sorry, no photo) and the frisky puppies Lucky and Star. As a quiet, serene place to stay and as a base for exploration of Santiago and the nearby wine-producing valleys Casa Ishi can't be beaten.

We loved Casa Ishi and our hosts! The house was beautiful inside and out. The bedrooms were lovely and the kitchen and other living areas were beautifully decorated, comfortable, and spacious. The view from the terrace area is breathtaking, especially over a bottle of wine at sunset. We spent our days wandering the property, picking plums, oranges, lemons, avocados, and unbelievably delicious figs. We drove to a vineyard one day (there are plenty close by to choose from) and ate at La Calma de Rita which we recommend. This was the perfect way to get away from the traffic and noise of Santiago without driving too far. Michelle was such a gracious host - even going so far as to purchase a new outdoor table for our large group. Our group (made up of ages 1 to 70) had a wonderful time and hope to be back!
