Beautiful setting and view. All the comforts of home. Fun sea glass hunting spot.

We stayed 2 weeks and it really was a great spot if you do not want to be in the hustle and bustle. We loved being able to walk right down to the beach which had the most amazing views. The cabin is spacious and has everything you need for your stay. The only downfall for us was we did find ourselves driving into bar harbor to keep our 4 year old twins occupied as they have more activities for younger kids.

This was our second stay at this wonderful property. Comfortable, very well appointed and equipped, gorgeous setting and view in a wooded lot on Somes Sound. Easy walk to SW Harbor and its stores, restaurants, etc. Modern kitchen in a spacious and comfortable great room. The host lives nearby and is friendly and accommodating. The house feels a bit like a camp because of all the wood (which is of superb quality!) and the use of appointments from days gone by, but is in fact spacious and modern with all the conveniences. We thoroughly enjoyed this place and plan to return.

The house is very nicely appointed and includes a well stocked kitchen with everything you might need to cook and entertain. The owner is a lovely person and bent over backwards to address our needs.

Our family had a wonderful stay at this cottage. Very convenient yet away from the bustle of Bar Harbor. We will recommend to our friends.

We had an amazing stay at this property! The house is lovely-well laid out with a great common area and 3 very nice bedrooms. We especially enjoyed the ocean view, beautiful private beach, and lovely gardens! Our hosts were so helpful and welcoming! We really had the perfect stay and can’t wait to come back! Thank you!

Quiet SW Harbor cottage town. Perfect for a getaway for families wanting to enjoy the deck and rocky beachfront. Lots to do in Acadia National Park only 25-30 minutes away. Would definitely come back for some much needed rest and relaxation.

We had such a great time here in this well equipped waterfront property. Great communication to know what we had available to us and plan accordingly for our needs. Big lobster pot in the house and live lobsters available right around the corner from the fisherman.
Quiet surroundings right behind the coast guard station and a stroll down to the beach to watch the boats coming through.
Beds were comfortable, water pressure great, nice weber grill, and comfortable patio furniture.
We will be back. We wanted to be away from the crowds, while close to the park and the trails. This was dynamite! Also recommend the Blueberry pie from the Little Notch! Sail Acadia for the Friendship sloop sail at sunset was also a great add for us.
Enjoy

We have visited SW Harbor regularly for many decades but this was our first rental. The house and the grounds were great, well designed and maintained, beautiful and comfortable at the same time. Amenities were above and beyond, with little details that indicate the property has been lived in. The location is amazing, completely secluded while within an easy walk of "downtown" SW Harbor. Water view is framed by trees but the shoreline is completely accessible by a short walk through the back yard. Perfect. We'll be back soon.

Wonderful location on Somme’s sound. The house was perfect. We met Ed and he was very helpful and kind. Loved our stay and hope to return next year.

We've been coming to SW Harbor during the summer for decades, staying usually in this general part of town. The house was well equipped, clean, comfortable, and quiet (away from Bar Harbor crowds) -- a good fit for 3 adult family members. Convenient for walks to town and for car trips to Acadia and other destinations on Mt. Desert Island.

Our family had a wonderful stay in this great cottage on Mount Desert Island. The home is in a great location - water views from the back, walkable to Southwest Harbor village, and an easy drive to so many great hikes on the quiet side of the island. The rocky coastline accessible from the home was perfect for the kids to hunt for crabs and other sea creatures. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here the next time we return to Acadia!

Wonderful home in the perfect location to enjoy all that MDI, Acadia, and SW Harbor have to offer. Hosts are gracious and welcoming and couldn’t recommend this property more. Hope others can enjoy it as much as our family of 6 did this year.

The cottage is in a secluded neighborhood, yet very close to town. There is a lovely, but limited, view of Somes Sound. The grounds are beautifully tended.
Our only complaint was that there was no internet during our entire stay. This was extremely inconvenient. Although we informed the caretaker and the owner of the problem, there was no attempt to fix it.

My husband and I stayed here with our two year old son, and another couple who also has a toddler. The house was perfect for our stay. Plenty of room in the living room for kids to play, bedrooms were a good size and had everything you might need. Lots of cookware in the kitchen. The patio was very nice and had plenty of furniture for everyone to be comfortable. Backyard had a nice shaded area for kids to play, and the rocky beach area was fun for the kids to explore. The southwest harbor location was a very quaint little town, had several good food options, and was easily walkable from the house. Easy drive into Acadia National Park and the Bar Harbour area for lots of fun day activities. We were all very happy with our stay.

Ed’s guest home was the perfect space for our family of four….comfortable, well stocked, right on the water with beautiful views and a private beach. We really couldn’t ask for more! Southwest harbor is a cute village with everything you need and convenient to everything jn acadia NP without feeling touristy. Don’t think twice just book it!

A quiet area but still near restaurants and hiking trails. Very nice wood interior and a beautiful view of water from window with only steps away from shoreline. Only 20 mins to Bar Harbor and less to Acadia. Would definitely stay again.

We loved the house and the quiet shared driveway. The kids had a great time exploring along the shoreline and we had close access to everything we needed during our week long stay. Thanks you so much!

The house was beautiful, quiet and comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked. There were plenty of linens. The only drawbacks were a small hot water heater and spotty Wi-Fi connection.

My husband, me, and our 4 kids stayed here for the week and it was amazing. Perfect location- my kids loved exploring the rocky beach. Very close to hiking for Acadia National park. House is on a quiet lane- virtually no traffic. House was clean and had everything we needed for our stay.

We loved this house! Perfect for our Maine stay. Great view, lovely rocky beach for the kids to explore, easy walk to town, nearby hiking in Acadia. The owner, Ed, was great to work with and very thoughtful.

This property is tucked away in Southwest Harbor, located near the US Coast Guard location and the wonderful Beal's seafood pier. With a property that is footsteps away from the beach and water, this location was excellent. Sleeping with all of the windows open, you could hear the nature surrounding the property waking up to birds and water crashing along the shore line. Waking up and watching the boats go by was a real treat. The owners are extremely accommodating and communicative. There was a great list of recommendations for the area, and kayaks to use at the property. The house is extremely clean and well kept - with their own family using it during off weeks. There are an abundance of amenities, including towels, shampoo, vacuums, pillows and blankets, and board games galore. After going on long bike rides and hikes, it was extremely enjoyable to return home to a home that had a shower, with the pressure of a 5-star hotel. Our *only* ;) issue during our stay was a lightbulb that went out and after a quick message to the property's handyman, it was replaced within hours!I would highly recommend this property and would absolutely consider returning here in a heartbeat!

I'm generally not a reviewer but given the great experience we had at this property I'm compelled to spend the time to do so. The home was even better than the pictures conveyed, which is always a pleasant surprise. The homeowners were lovely--friendly and helpful without being the least bit intrusive. The location was ideal for our four adults and three kids; we walked over to Beals every day for lobster and had the convenience of Southwest Harbor and greater MDI at our fingertips, but the house itself felt sequestered in the peace and quiet you're hoping for Downeast. Do yourself a favor and rent this one--just not durning the week we'll be returning, please.

Beautiful, comfortable, well-appointed home tucked away off the beaten path in SW Harbor. Great family getaway location, on the water and close to town. Our gracious hosts Edward and Martie made sure we had everything we needed to enjoy our stay.....thank you! Hope to return!

We have stayed in Maine a half dozen times. Twice now, we've been lucky enough to stay at this home on Somes Sound. We love the location in Southwest Harbor. A short walk from the house are excellent restaurants, unbelievable good ice cream, and the town bike shop. The view from the deck is worthy of a postcard. The house is spacious, clean, comfortable, and well appointed. The gardens surrounding it are beautiful. I would highly recommend this house to anyone looking to stay on the quiet side of Mount Desert Island.
