Friends and family had a fishing trip planned. Had a great time staying on the property. It was perfectly located on the beach.

Place was definitely tired and needing some updates, lots of ants and mice. Doors didn’t shut and window screens were broken. Was bummed to find the place in not as great of shape for price we paid for the 5 days

We love coming down to this area is Baja and have stayed in a few of the homes along this stretch of the beach. We had a great stay and would return!

Great location and lay out but cleanliness and communication
My family and I stayed here for a few days. The property was nice, it had a nice layout. We loved that we could walk right on to the beach. On our first night there we swept the floors because they were dirty, they had a bunch of dog hair. There was a few things that still needed to be cleaned. We had arrived to Ensenada like an hour before check in and I reached out to the property owner to see if we could check in earlier and I had no response. Then, on the rules we saw we had to take out our own trash at check out. I reached out to the property manager then and I had no response. We saw some trash bins on the property and took out our trash there. Hopefully they don’t try to charge us for that… other than that our experience was good.

This property has so much potential but it is terribly neglected. Upon arrival, the water heater was turned off, so we had to find it and light it. The home was incredibly dirty, for example, when I went to sleep, I laid my head down, looked over at the night stand and spotted multiple hairs (and not the kind from the top of your head). There was no washer/dryer, no hair dryer, very limited towels (6 towels for “sleeping for 10”) a water cooler that was empty, missing lightbulbs, which we ended up unscrewing from working bulbs and moved them around the house as needed. Additionally, many screens were busted up so we were unable to keep doors open due to flies. Since the home has no a/c it was very uncomfortable at times. The home is completely run down and in desperate need of simple repairs. The one and only upside is that the beach was nice.

Nice place to stay. Had some minor issues because of a heavy rain storm, but the property manager promptly resolved the issue.

Relaxing Retreat
First I want to reassure the mom's out there. This is a safe place to take their kiddos. My husband & I took out 3 girls (16,14, 12) to Ensenada from San Diego. I was nervous about crossing the border with a rental car and our family. At the border we were just waved in. I am not sure why they did not check and documentation (we have Nexus cards so maybe we were automatically scanned in) but we did not even stop our car. Our Garmin directed us through the city but we chose to follow the hwy signs for the scenic route Hwy 1. I am glad we did. We actually saw a whale along the route. We stopped for lunch in Puerto Nuevo at the #1 Puerto Nuevo Restaurant. The food was fine. At ALL places we stopped, we could use USD. The exchange rate by each vendor was 20 Peso/1 USD. The vendors that exchanged were only giving 19 Peso/1 USD. Other activities: La Bufadora: get there at high tide in the morning if possible-we had the whole place to ourselves at 9 am. Drive all the way down to where they finally do not let car proceed further. The parking lot is on your left $3 USD. The vendors were friendly and 2 of my girl's loved bartering, the last one always felt bad "ripping them off" :) In Ensenada we ate at a Brazilian Grill , Mr. Pampas for $15 USD/ person + drinks (order bottled water everywhere). Horseback Riding: Just before the turn off to get to this VRBO you will see horses and men. We bartered $15/person/hour for the 5 of us to ride in the mountains (regular rate $20 mountains/$15 beach). One decent was steep and my 12 year old fell off her horse. She was okay but I would caution you to know your children's skill level: the beach ride would be very safe. The horses are trained but they do need coaxing. Now to the VRBO: Beautiful, safe, clean and quiet. We traveled in Jan/Feb. Abraham saved us as our other VRBO fell through. He was amazing and kept in contact as needed. 1 King room, 2 Twin bed room and a full futon (in living room). He also has a separate house for additional people. Parking: inside a gate you lock. 12 cup Drip Coffee Maker: may need filters, we had 4. Bring coffee just in case-there was some left here. Stop at Walmart (2 in Ensenada) for all groceries, spices and condiments as you will want to just stay put and relax. We enjoyed eating out but it was great eating in a couple of nights to just BE. Due to all the homes here being single family dwellings, very few people. Great place to unwind. Thank you Abraham!

Peaceful and beautiful for families
This house is on a safe and quiet strip outside of Ensenada. If you are looking for a place for your family that is away from typical crowded spots this is it. Most of the week we spent there we had the beach nearly to ourselves with just a handful of people around. The waves when we were there weren't huge but good for families wanting something mellower for younger children. When we were here in August there was no dangerous rip current or anything like that. Down the beach about a mile is a public beach entrance which made it more crowded on the weekend but most of the people stayed closer to the public access area. The people who came to the beach on the weekend were nearly all Mexican families. No college kids partying when we were here. You can ride horses on the beach nearly all day for $10. A guy with an ultralight offers rides for about $45. A boat offers rides on tubes. You can go snorkeling with Dale's Dive shop nearby. You can also find fishing excursions close by. There are great mom and pop stores close by or you can drive about 15 minutes back towards Ensenada for a bigger grocery store. The owner and manager of the house were great with communication. Very safe and never felt worried about my family. A big gate to the property locks. Quite a few retired Americans in the area. The house is very nice and clean inside. Two families can stay when you also rent separate quarters behind the main house. We had a change plans and ended up having more people stay with us and the owner was very flexible about that when we communicated with him. Great place! Would stay again.

A great spot to relax
Highly recommend this rental. The communication with the owner was quick and easy. Also a very nice local manager, José, was very kind and at the ready for any needs. The house and beds are comfortable. An easy kitchen to cook in. The deck is well appointed to while away the hours watching the beautiful coastline. Not many people in the beach. A truly semi-private beach.

We enjoyed this house very much. I agree that the pictures online doesn't do it justice. This is as close to a private beach as you are going to get. No selling merchants on the beach, not even one (which is nice), the kids were running on the sand for miles and miles (walky-talky is greatly helpful btw)
The House was very nice and clean (8.8 out of 10 for cleanness), we were 10 people (7 adults 3 kids) and it accommodated us very well. You can buy drinking water at the local store (walking distance ), along with all the basic necessities you need. We brought a ton of disposable plates and utensils so no one needs to do the dishes. We had hot water at all times (not a given in a beach house in Ensenada) and the area feels safe and fun.
Few notes:
The house is only around 110 miles from the San Diego border, so you may not believe the smartphone when it tells you it will take 3 hours... it will. Also, when we used google maps it took us in and out of the cities along the freeway (Highway 1), I suggest using apple maps or Waze, it will keep you on the freeway and shave 30min if not more.
You don't need to bring anything with you. Pots, pans, silverware, they are all provided. same goes for towels bed sheets etc, all very clean. bring your own Shampoo.
Once you get confirmation from Abraham (who was great btw), use the GPS coordinates to navigate to the house, DO NOT use the address, it will take you nowhere. The PDF you will receive also have coordinates for attractions, same here, use the coordinates NOT the address or the location name. Go see the Gaiser, its less than 10min drive from the house and there are many merchants at the location so you can eat well and do some MX shopping. Oh, and its free.
Finding the house for the first time maybe tricky, so make sure you call Abraham when you get to the dirt road and he will explain the rest.
Why 4 stars?
Consider my 4 starts to be 4.8 . There is just one thing that can be improved. The house itself. Its has old(ish) furniture and beds are on the small size. To be clear, everything was VERY CLEAN, and comfy, I would simply like newer stuff. Will go again!

Owner was very nice and accommodating. The beach was our backyard. Easy access to and from main road and beach. The house was super clean and cute. Planning on returning soon. Highly recommend it.
