About this house rental
* ALWAYS CLEANED AND SANITIZED BY A PROFESSIONAL CLEANING SERVICE!!
Welcome to North Captiva Island, a private, bridge-less island accessible only by boat. North Captiva was separated from Captiva Island by a hurricane in 1921 which created Red Fish Pass. The lack of a bridge made development of North Captiva difficult and has resulted in an "Island Paradise", with a feel similar to Florida in the 1940's. North Captiva is noted for uncrowded, un-restored beaches with excellent shelling. The south two-thirds of the Island is a state wildlife area, while the north one-third is lightly developed with homes. "Island Time" is observed once you step off the boat onto the island!
Please do not miss Gulf Dreams' drone video. You can access it in our pictures. Many of our pictures are reproductions of comments and drawings Gulf Dreams' guests have left in our Guest Book.
IMAGINE... a beach vacation at a house that’s like your very own luxury beach resort called Gulf Dreams on-the-beach. The deed to this beach house states that the property’s west boundary is the Gulf of Mexico. The house has 75 feet of private, white sand Gulf beach for your pleasure, easily accessed by the only private, elevated walkway on the island.

You will be greeted upon your arrival on North Captiva by Gulf Dream's manager. Our manager will transport you and your luggage and groceries to Gulf Dreams (unless you requested the kitchen be pre-stocked), will familiarize you with Gulf Dreams amenities, as well as the island, and will be a phone call away during your stay to meet your needs.

We stayed at Gulf Dreams during the first week of April! We had wonderful warm weather and greatly enjoyed the heated pool and easy access to the beach. We had 4 adults and 4 teenagers and the layout out of the house was perfect for our group. The kitchen was well equipped and we ate most meals at the house. Pre-ordering the groceries was the way to go! Great communication with the property manager. The house was very clean. Highly recommend!

Great house, lots of room… main living area is 3rd floor, so plenty of exercise… kitchen is small but has all you need…ice makers being repaired, but we were supplied with plenty of ice from owner. The area is nice and open, bar area, extra refrigerator, two tables.. great patio spaces on all floors… screened in patios great for gathering and watching sunrises and sunsets. Easy walkway to beach… great chairs for beach sitting… spent afternoons at pool. Shalley’s.. the mgmt company was great at arrival and departure and for shopping before we got there and during our stay. Any minor issues we had were addressed immediately. The only recommendations I have is a small vacuum for the pool…(my kids enjoyed it anyway) and I’d have loved an elevator… but I guess the 20 step climb to the deluxe master suite was good exercise! We would definitely stay there again.

We just returned from our first trip to North Captiva. It was really windy a good portion of our trip so the beach was rough. Luckily, Gulf Dreams had everything we needed. The kitchen is stocked better than any VRBO we’ve ever stayed at, the house was extremely clean and the pool was outstanding. (Highlight of the trip for my youngest kids.) There was more than enough room for our family of seven. The gulf view from the master bedroom really can’t be beat.
We will certainly go back to North Captiva and Gulf Dreams will be our first pick of places to stay.

THIS WAS A PERFECT HOME F0R A FAMILY VACATION. WE HAD 8 ADULTS AND 4 CHILDREN AGE 4 TO 9 MONTHS. PLENTY OF ROOMS FOR EVERYONE TO HAVE THEIR OWN SPACE. LARGE BEAUTIFUL SCREENED PORCHES OVERLOOKING THE OCEAN. A BEAUTIFUL HEATED POOL SURROUNDED BY LOVELY LANDSCAPING AND INCREDIBLE ACCESS TO A BEAUTIFUL BEACH
THE HOUSE PROVIDED KAYAKS AND PADDLE BOARDS WHICH OUR FAMILY TOOK GREAT ADVANTAGE OF.
THERE WERE A FEW MINOR ISSUES WITH THE HOME BUT ALLY WAS EXTREMELY RESPONSIVE AND CORRECTED THE ISSUES QUICKLY.
THIS HOME WAS A BIG HIT WITH OUR ENTIRE FAMILY AND WE WOULD DEFINITELY VACATION HERE AGAIN

The house was great. Excellent location and worked well for our group. Very comfortable and well outfitted home. The only issue we had was that the grill was not working properly. Other than that, everything was perfect and we had an amazing vacation.)

Loved it all! The weather was a little off but the house is stocked with plenty of games and puzzles for all ages and with the beach right in the backyard we could do plenty of shell hunting. All ages loved it. The only thing I would change (and this is strictly a personal preference due to a bad bedtime habit of needing noise) I would love a TV in the master bedroom. Dumb I know! We had a blast and enjoyed every minute. Be sure to bring/order all the groceries you will need because the only store on the island is hit and miss although we found all but eggs when in need. Thanks for the hospitality — hope to be back!!

This property is absolutely magical ! We had a group of 12. One 14 month old, 2 teens and the rest adults. They had something for everyone to do. The privacy, the location the access to the beach, the sunsets, the pool… everything was amazing. The had everything I needed for my baby which was so nice and convenient that I didn’t need to bring things like high chair or crib. The only complaint I have is a septic issue/smell in one of the king bed rooms that was never resolved while on our trip but I am sure that will be looked into. My mother had that room so she was not very happy. Otherwise I would 1000% stay here again. My whole family has been dreaming about going back since we left and we have talked about coming here every single year. Ps. The manager was very sweet as well!

We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday week together with all of our kids and grandkids. This was the perfect spot! The house had all we needed- king sized beds for all the adults, a warm heated pool, direct access to a beautiful, quiet beach, great shelling, a well equipped kitchen for all our family meals, a big screen TV for football games, 2 golf
Carts to Get around the island (a
Favorite activity for our little ones!) and an amazing view of the ocean from the house. This was our first time
To Captiva and we loved it. It does take some planning in regards to transportation and food planning, but the quiet, unhurried atmosphere on the island makes it worth all the planning! Unfortunately there are still homes that need repair from the hurricane, but they are obviously working hard to get everything back in shape. Gulf Dreams was in great shape. Beautiful new landscaping around the pool.
Ally, the property manager was
Great. She arranged for us to be picked up at the dock with all our food and coolers and responded quickly to any questions or small issues that needed to be addressed.
Thank you, Wendell and Karen, for sharing your lovely home With us. It was enjoyed by all!

This house is amazing and the island is a truly unique and beautiful place. I would highly recommend it for anybody looking for a relaxing vacation. The kids absolutely loved the pool, the beach was pristine and private, and the owners of the house thought of everything that vacationers would need. We had a blast taking the golf carts around the island too.
We utilized the service to stock our house with food and drinks and we were so happy we did. To walk into your vacation home already containing all of what you need is a really valuable add on. We also hired a chef and we wanted to make sure to include his name here as he was awesome. Shout out to Chef Bo!
While there are certainly homes in the area that have not yet recovered from the hurricane, Gulf Dreams is not one of them and I would highly recommend staying there!!

We had a wonderful vacation at this property, Gulf Dreams, on North Captiva Island. The owner was extremely nice and very accommodating. The island had been hit pretty hard from the hurricane but the house looked amazing. They had done all new landscaping around the house and pool that looked very pretty. The house itself was very clean and had been freshly painted, and also had some new decor that really made the place look awesome. The managers Sean and Ally, were on top of everything, helping with anything we needed. There were 10 of us staying, 6 adults and 4 kids, and the house fit us all perfectly, we didn't even use the bedroom on the lower level of the house. We were there 7 days and cooked all our own meals there except for one night out. The kitchen was beautiful and very well equipped, we even made our own ice cream one night. We grilled out every night and the deck had 2 tables that fit us all nicely. Inside we all fit very comfortably in the living room area and at the tables inside as well. The mattresses are new and very comfortable as well. The pool was heated, it was warm upon our arrival which was great! Also the walk way to the beach was extremely nice to have. The beach itself is beautiful and we used all the equipment the house offers and had the best time at the beach! The sunsets were gorgeous, it was amazing. I believe Gulf Dreams is truly the best house on North Captiva Island to stay at, it is beautiful, we loved it, we will go back!!

I am not one to write reviews, but felt the need to write one in hopes of helping those who might consider renting this house.
I know the hurricane took a toll on the island 10 moths ago and that it will take time to repair all of the damage, and I am so sorry this has happened.
If there was more transparency with the condition of the house after the hurricane, like updated photos on Vrbo and a note about the progress of renovating the house ( when new screens and roof will be put on, replacing all the rusty nails, and replacing broken wires on balcony railing, etc.), we would’ve been more understanding of the condition of the house when we arrived…especially with the price you’re paying. *The pictures and description are pre-hurricane, so it’s misleading.
A few safety issues:
Coconut trees surrounding the pool. One fell off and hit the water feet away from my mother in the pool and another fell off right by my husband on the patio. As a safety hazard, it would seem pertinent to give a warning or have the trees maintained before guests stay there.
The wires on balcony railings are either coming off or loose. So don’t let your kids or family lean up against it on the top balcony. The house could’ve been cleaner, esp in the bathrooms (found nail clipping on counter and hair everywhere on “clean” towels and shower).
My hope is that this will help fix a few concerns so the next group staying will have a better stay than us. We did enjoy the beautiful view from the balconies
3.0 / 5.0
Everything about this place was amazing. The location, the privacy, the views, the beach, and the pool. Plenty of room and the house has everything you need.
When we arrived, the pool was broken and the landscaping is wrecked. There is still a ton of debris around the island. The lights downstairs don't work and neither do the appliances but there are plenty of other appliances in the house that DO work. The mosquitoes are HORRENDOUS! So bring bug spray.
The property management company fixed the pool on day 3 of our trip.
Things we wish we would've known beforehand:
1) There are no cars on the island
2) They charge you 40% to get groceries for you. Get DoorDash or Instacart to deliver your groceries to the marina and go pick them up. It was 1/5th the price.
3) Don't plan on going outside at night. The mosquitoes will carry you away.
4) The island is still a mess after the hurricane. It's not what it once was, but it is getting back there with all the work being done on the island.

This vacation beach property is in an ideal location. It’s an easy stroll to the beach on a beautiful boardwalk surrounded by foliage. We had an amazing view of stunning sunsets from every floor! The guys charted a fishing excursion with Boats and Fun and caught a small shark and several sea trout. They had an excellent time! The gals went on an amazing boat tour and we saw dolphins and a manatee family! Our family spent hours on the beach looking for sea shells, paddle boarding, kayaking and swimming. We also had hours of fun in the beautiful heated pool. We ordered all kinds of fresh seafood from Boats and Fun which was excellent! Ally was extremely helpful and replied quickly to our texts and got us whatever we needed. Our family had an epic vacation that we will remember and talk about for years!

We had a great week as a family! We did have a few issues but the actual owners of property went above and beyond to make it right! Best location on the island!

This was hands down, one of the most special places that my family & I have been. The property itself, the management group/ staff, the locals; everyone!!! If I could, I would be back down there next week.
House: Pictures online are extremely accurate, house is clean, open, and equipped.
Pool: Amazing! Was cleaned 3-times while we were there (which is great) surrounded by plenty of pool and ocean toys, floats, paddleboards, kayaks, and more.
Beach: Perfect
Sunsets: Unbelievable daily!!!!!!!!
Again, a very special house/ location/ island, and experience.
Can't thank you all enough!!!!

Gulf Dreams is a beautiful property and we were so happy we were able to stay here still post-hurricane Ian. The kitchen and entire house are unbelievably stocked. There is literally nothing that has not been thought of. The pool area is amazing, and having your own boardwalk to the beach is such a treat. We would love to stay again in the future!

We knew there would be some lingering damage both on the island and around this property from Hurricane Ian. The house is lovely and spacious, with just a few things that didn't work--outdoor lights, a fan in one bedroom. The beach by this property was wonderful--all that we hoped for. Our one disappointment was that the pool was not heated as advertised. The owner provided us with a partial refund because of this, which I appreciated.
5.0 / 5.0
This property was perfect for our family vacation. It was a trip of a lifetime. Everything was exactly as described. Photos don't do this property justice it is truly amazing. The recovery after IAN was excellent. The home was fully restored it looked like it weathered the storm well and no signs of damage besides some vegetation. We enjoyed our week so much we are planning to make out there again.
Thank you!

House was amazing, had everything we needed. I was a little worried about getting to North Cap with a large party of 12 but the property managers walked us through everything. It was a smooth process from airport to the house and back. We had a blast doing nothing on the island for a week.
5.0 / 5.0
The location of the house was great! We had a few issues upon arrival but the management team was very responsive. The kayaks and paddle boards were a great plus to use on the beach! The best part of this house is that every room has their own bathroom. There are a lot of stairs so I would not recommend it for anyone that has mobility issues. We rented a boat from boats n fun which I would highly recommend to anyone staying on the island for fun day excursions. Would love to come back again!

Perfect Vacation
This was our second year at Gulf Dreams and it was even better! All new comfortable beds, perfect new landscaping, and a great new golf cart. The view and beach are still absolute perfection. The property managers, Sean and Alley are top-notch! This is the ultimate vacation spot.

Absolute Paradise
This vacation rental is magnificent! The rooms were spacious and each one came with a shower bathroom. The view from the top master suite balcony alone was worth the rental!!!
The pool and beach came with a ton of chairs, a cabana, kayaks, floats, sand toys, etc.
The kitchen was especially nice and designed by a foodie for sure. Two ovens, top of the line microwave, great pantry space, two sinks, and an island suitable for prep with an outlet. The only small con was checkout for us. The cleaning crew showed up 35 minutes before our check out and came into the home. They began moving luggage and going into rooms as we were still trying to organize luggage and wash and dry all towels before departure. Otherwise it was overall perfect and the management company made check in a breeze and answers any questions during our stay promptly. Would stay here again over any other property I have seen on the island!!!! Thank you for a great vacation!

Fantastic time for families!
Fabulous location. Walk right out the back door to the beach. Had plenty of beach amenities beach chairs and cabanas, life jackets for adults and kiddos, floats for pool again adults and kiddos, kayaks, paddle boards, sand toys and balls etc. (Seriously no need to bring anything except your swim suit and flip flops).
Large communal spaces with everyone’s bedrooms on a separate floor (adults can be loud and have fun without worry of waking napping babies).
Beach and wild life are incredible. Manatees dolphins, reef sharks (don’t worry they are really small) and rays practically swimming next to you. Take advantage of kayaks and paddle boards to get a closer view.
We had all our groceries delivered on day of checkin. Would highly recommend as there isn’t a large grocery store and only a few restaurants (which only adds to islands charming and secluded vibe).
Would definitely recommend for any larger groups considering

Great location and amenities!
This property is exactly as described. The location is fantastic and our extended family had a wonderful vacation. Property managers were responsive and friendly. The check-in/check out process was smooth, and the amenities at the house were great...especially beach cabanas and chairs, as well as a well-equipped kitchen with everything you could possibly need. We'll definitely be back! Thank you!

Our group of 12 had a fantastic stay at Gulf Dreams! We were 3 families (6 adults, 6 kids ages 8-14) and we couldn’t have picked a better house. We wanted a pool and easy beach access and this house was perfect. Plenty of space for all to be together and find some alone time when needed. Ally and Sean (property managers) were amazing. Super responsive and took care of us from beginning to end. The whole experience was so fun and I would recommend this house to any group!!

N Captiva Island
The house was great for our family of 10. Loved the location on the island. But be prepared if you don't rent a boat there is not anywhere to go off the island. So all food shopping and anything else must be done by the property managers. 2 accessible eating establishments. One we tried for weeks and could not get into. Prepare to cook.

Large family beach house
Plenty of room in a large, quiet house. Great amenities right on the beach. Pool, golf carts and ocean toys were all in great condition. No complaints at all.

Awesome place
The property was amazing, the pool was big enough and deep enough for the 7 kids ranging in age from 5-17. The views were great every night. The few problems that we had were dealt with immediately. Would definitely recommend the house

Paradise in a beautiful beach setting
This house was spectacular! Our family of eleven included 6 adults and five kids with ages from 10 months to 8 years old. The house was right on the beach with it's own walkway and had a beautiful swimming pool in a tropical setting. The sunsets were amazing. The house had all the amenities needed with a well stocked kitchen, a large meeting area, screened in porches, and room for all. Beach chairs, toys, and large canopies were provided for our time on the beach. The beach provided a great venue for our wedding renewal! The state park where we hiked was within walking distance of the house. Would love to come back!

We really enjoyed this property, it was well appointed, room for each of us to have our own bed, plenty of space. The views were spectacular. The beach was one of the best around, very quiet and relaxing. Management and owners were easy to work with.

January 2022 visit
The house met the needs of our family very well with 8 adults and 4 children all under the age of 6. All of the baths had showers, no bathtubs which wasn't a problem for our crew but may be an obstacle for other families with small children. The house needs some cosmetic repairs and upkeep. The basement bedroom has some noises and additional equipment that we should have been made aware of at check-in (dehumidifier and separate air conditioning system). Access to the beach, the heated pool and outdoor equipment were excellent! We LOVED North Captiva and would stay in the same property again if we have the opportunity.

Family vacation at the beach
Our extended family did a family vacation post holiday in North Captiva (January 3-8). It was a perfect location and home for us to comfortably stay! We loved the quick access to the beach, heated pool, secluded atmosphere, and room for everyone! The staff was quick to respond with any questions or needs we had! We definitely would come back again!!! We didn’t want to come home!

Perfect get-away
Location of this property is amazing. On the beach, with easy access. We couldn't get the kids out of the pool, it was like garden ghetto, we felt like we were swimming in the jungle. The house itself was perfect for our 12 member family, everyone had their own space, but a common space to gather with beautiful views! We all enjoyed our stay and would stay again.
