We really enjoyed our stay. The house was perfect for our family with the pool and games. Beach proximity was perfect! Would love to stay again.

House was amazing and perfect location. Staff was wonderful to work with and very helpful throughout the whole process. We are already planning our return trip next year!

The house is spacious with great amenities. The covered outdoor pool area was great with Ping Pong, corn hole and an outdoor bar/bathroom. The kitchen was well equipped and with four bedrooms/bathrooms there is more the adequate space for two families. The views from the 3rd floor deck are awesome. But remember you are going to a barrier island. When there is an issue it's not simple to get fixed.

The house was amazing, clean, very spacious, and stocked with everything you need and more! The pool was amazing and we loved the games provided. Cooked dinner every night in the fully stocked kitchen, saving us a ton of money. Our kids had a blast playing while the adults relaxed. Property manager was phenomenal with communication, and answered every question we had. Highly recommend Mango’s Bar and Grill - awesome potato salad and buffalo chicken wraps!! We will be back!

We had a large family vacation on the island and 1 of the 2 houses we stayed for a week was captivation. There was plenty of space for grandparents, kids and grandchildren. We spent a lot of time at the pool area enjoying the space and amenities. Property managers quickly responded to anything that we needed. Great job guys and thanks for helping our family make memories! Highly recommend

Captivation was a great experience and just as advertised. Very clean, the lanai around the entire first floor was wonderful and the management was very accommodating. Would certainly stay here again.

Property was not as clean as I would have expected. Master bathroom toilet and shower did not work and took 3 days total to fix. There was also not a shower door or curtain and it made for everything getting wet when getting a shower. No mattress protectors on mattress and stains on mattress. Floors and refrigerator (fish liquid all through it) had to be cleaned by us prior to loading our food in it. Refrigerator in kitchen was leaking. Always a puddle on floor. We had to sweep floors(sand everywhere). Second master bathroom had hot water shutoff on sink. Starter pack of supplies like toilet paper, paper towels, dish soap, hand soap etc. that home said it was to be stocked with it did not have and messaged property manager and it took several tries for them to respond. A weekend or not, they needed to respond. Home and location was nice but disappointed in the cleanliness and appliances that were not functional.

We had the most wonderful time staying in Captivation! Tortuga was amazing trying to accommodate us with an early check-in due to impending bad weather. When we got there there was no pack-n-play, just an empty box and we were delivered one within a few days. They delivered our groceries a day early and We made a mid-week grocery order and it was delivered with no issues. The house is very spacious and the pool is wonderful. There are some cosmetic issues but overall the place was great! We will be back for sure!!

We love North Captiva and this house has everything we needed for my family (3 young boys). Property management was easy to get ahold of if needed - seamless and helpful getting us and everything we brought to and from ferry.

Great trip and the house was perfect

We had an amazing stay at Captivation. We had never been to North Captiva Island and fell in love with it! The house was large enough for our three families. It's rare to find a house where 12 people can all sleep in beds (and not pull out couches). Tortuga Property Management made the entire process so easy. Laurie was amazing to work with leading up to the trip. She helped with all of our questions and grocery order. Duncan was also super helpful with the tour of the island when we arrived.
I highly recommend Pine Island Taxi and Island Girl Ferry to get to and from the island. I also HIGHLY recommend getting your groceries shopped and delivered by Tortuga. It made the entire trip so relaxing to not have to worry about any of those things.

Captivation is just what we needed! Far enough away from the rustle and bustle of everyday life yet provided all the luxuries and amenities to make memories last for a lifetime! The house was beautiful and had great sunrise and sunset views (most sunsets we spent on the beach). The pool and entertainment room is where we spent most of our evenings under the party lights. A couple of little wrinkles but Tortuga properties was right there to iron them out. Great place, 10/10 would recommend!

We had a great time at Captivation. Plenty of room for everyone. We enjoyed the pool area especially the little kids. It was quite an adventure getting to the island and planning the logistics and the grocery list but it was well worth it. We found the property managers to be very accessible and responsive.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Captivation! The location is beautiful and just a few minute golf cart ride to Mangos and the prettiest beach on the island! We were all initially worried about the grocery situation and ferry but it was all easy and stress free! We ordered groceries through Deb at FreshPick and she did a fantastic job!
The house has tons of room! We loved the vaulted ceilings everyone commented on how big and open the house was! It had plenty of towels and everything we needed to get started including spices (which we weren't sure they would have so we brought our own). The water tasted fine. Ice from the fridge got us through the week. All beds were very comfortable. We had one issue with a broken slat in the 2nd king bedroom and they had someone out to address it the same day and got it fixed enough so that couple slept comfortable. The kids LOVED the pool area and exploring around the house! The house also had tons of games & puzzles.
There is a small general store at Mangoes that did have some beer & wine when we ran out and a few other food items. I did see OTC medications available (children's and adult) just in case!
We loved the NCIC pool and bar! Great food & drinks!
Tortuga was amazing! They met us at the ferry when we arrived & gave us a quick tour and brought our luggage to the house. They were there right on time to take our luggage to the ferry when we left. No issues at all!
The island is truly magical! We fell in love with it and are already planning our trip back!

Great place and great location. Went with family for the Thanksgiving week, 6 adults and 5 children (ages 2-9 years). Place had lots of amenities and enough to do to keep entire family entertained right at the house (games, swimming pool, pool toys, TV down by pool, ping pong, bean bag toss, etc). Nice to have the screened in pool to keep the bugs away. Tortuga properties was great to deal with - they were at ferry when we arrived, delivered propane tank within 30 minutes when the grill didn’t have one, housekeeping forgot to leave laundry pods so delivered those immediately when we called, grocery and liquor delivery was outstanding, and they were there to pick up our luggage right on time when we were leaving). It’s a short walk to the beach or you can take one of the golf carts. Had ice delivered by “Island Ice” a few times during week and she showed up within 15 minutes of calling (phone number was on pool refrigerator). Overall, great week.

We were pleased with our stay. The location of the house was excellent! Just a short ride on the golf cart to the beach. Our oven didn’t work, but they were quick to send someone to fix. Our second day, they drained the pool to clean it, but didn’t come back. The water was then very cold and didn’t go over into the smaller part. We shut it off due to overflowing. They came a couple days later. The gas grill outside was then out of gas one night when we tried to make dinner. After telling the property manager, they brought one the next day. It would have been nice to have a code to the pool. When we asked, they said to just ask a bartender or someone at Mangos. We did, but they didn’t know it that day. No biggie, as they just had us go around. There is also a musty smell that everyone noticed so when we got home had to wash all of our clothes. Overall great stay, as we love North Captiva.

We made the best of our trip to North Captiva, enjoying time with friends and access to the remote and beautiful beaches. I am giving this property a rating of 3 out of 5 stars, because the property owner was very responsive after our return, and genuinely concerned about our experience. She did all that she could to make the situation right after the fact through reimbursement. Our experience on the island, however, was far from ideal. If not for the owner's response after our return, I would be giving this property only 1 out of 5 stars.
The house itself is beautiful and the location is great, but the house is not being properly maintained or cleaned; and the management company was not responsive when contacted. The list of issues is so long it was almost comical. Some of the issues included not being picked up from / dropped of at the ferry boat, our grocery and liquor orders missing for 2 days, broken appliances, no electricity on the 2nd floor of the home, cleaning not being fully conducted before check-in, an unusable grill, unusable pool, damaged and dangerous flooring and toiletries and kitchen products not being provided as stated in the rental agreement.
I would recommend that anyone looking to rent this home contact the owner to make sure that the above issues have been addressed and that a new management company has been hired. Many of the issues we encountered could have been non-issues had the management company just been responsive and helpful.
Tortuga Management company was not responsive, and when they did finally send someone to help us deal with missing or broken items, they would arrive unannounced, let themselves in, and leave without follow up. Duncan from Tortuga Management was one of the most unprofessional people I have ever had to deal with, and I have worked in the service industry myself for more than 15 years.

We crossed North Captiva off our list when looking for a FL vacation because the idea of ferrying over a week's worth of food was overwhelming. But then I realized that containing 4 teens to a small island for a family vacation might be worth the hassle. Don't overthink the food thing, but more on that later. We landed on Captivation and I feel like it might just be one of the best rentals on the island.
The house has tons of room - each boy had their own space (two boys shared the bunk room) and there were plenty of full bathrooms – all perfect. Nice touches - PLENTY of towels and each bathroom had shampoo and soap. Beds were all comfy.
Upstairs living area was open, huge and perfect for family meals, games, and hanging out. Kitchen is well stocked with plates, cups, cutlery, etc. The multi layers of decks were great for sightseeing.
The pool, hangout space and cornhole area were awesome and having it be caged/netted is one thing that makes this property extra special. We had cornhole tournaments every night and the pool was perfect for a quick cool off after the beach or boating. I also thought the state park path was beautiful / great for exercise and the house is 60 seconds from the best beach on the island.
I read a review about this house from a previous renter that initially made me nervous. But honestly, trust ALL the other reviews for the property. The house they described did not match our experience at all. Were there a few little things that weren't perfect in the house? Yes. Did we care. Not at all. Was Tortuga Property responsive? Yes. In fact, we traveled during a tropical storm which meant our ferry was rescheduled more than once. I kept in touch with Tortuga and they picked us up at our rescheduled ferry drop off, all our food was in frig and counter when we got there, they dropped us off to the ferry as scheduled, delivered an alcohol order (mostly) as scheduled, and they checked in with us during the stay and were nice. We are laid back people who don’t sweat the small stuff. If you are NOT that kind of person, honestly a small island may not be right for you anyway.
Re: ordering food. Plan your meals in advance. Plan more than enough snacks (esp if you have teen boys). We had to purchase a few supplies on island and indeed, it’s expensive. But mostly through good planning, our food lasted all week without the need to reorder….or leave much left over in the end.
Thanks to the Captivation team – it was a magical week.

We had a wonderful week at Captivation. This was our first time visiting North Captiva, so everything was new for us and there was definitely some stress surrounding all the logistics, travel, groceries, etc. With that said, we also had the stress of hurricane Elsa while we were there, but thankfully only lost one day really and power for about 6 hours, I call that a win!!
Overall, the property was a great space for our family. We had 3 families traveling and the only sleeping issue we had was the pullout couch in the King bedroom wasn't really usable as we had planned, but we made it work. The downstairs screened-in pool area is a very nice space because it helps tremendously with the noseums (HORRENDOUS mosquitos) , but the screen door is very difficult to stay closed (held with a safety pin?) so we still had to use a lot of spray and be very vigilant. The ping pong table was completely warped and falling over so it's not usable, but we really enjoyed the corn-hole boards. Also, we had originally hoped for a spa/hot tub as its listed, but really its just part of the pool and not a true heated spa. Good news is there is access to the NCIC pool right down the road and we went there a lot during our stay and enjoyed the pool area bar :) There were plenty of towels for us to use for the pool and beach, and the property was stocked well with kitchen items, beach chairs, games and puzzles and the 2 carts that come with the house were great. The most difficult part of our stay was the communication with Tortuga property management which we found to be a struggle before and during our stay. It didn't ruin anything for us by any means, but as a rental property owner myself, I have high standards for property management communication. Multiple texts with questions went unanswered during our stay, emails never responded to, and they never did a walk through at checkout or took us to our water taxi, as we had planned. We ended up just having to take ourselves and leave the golf carts at the dock when we didn't know what else to do.
All in all, it was a wonderful first trip to NCI, and we would definitely go back !! I love the island and everything it has to offer!

North Captiva is very remote but beautiful. The beach is absolutely amazing! We loved fishing in the Gulf and seeing the dolphins and pelicans. Island restaurants are great and the people at Boats and Fun were wonderful and so helpful. The house itself is beautiful but we had many issues with it. The water pressure is horrible, coffee machine takes forever to brew, washer and dryer are don’t work well at all. Advertisement said living room couches were sleeper sofas, but upon arrival, we realized they weren’t (so we had guests that had no bed for one night). We had to ask for the 2nd golf cart and propane for the grill. We had someone get injured on a chair that broke and the property manager didn’t handle that situation well. The property manager also never met us upon arrival to help with luggage, so we took matters into our own hands to get everything to the house. When we contacted the management company about the issues we were having and they threatened to kick us out (multiple times). We were visiting with family who we haven’t seen in over a year due to COVID and 5 children (ages 10-14) and most of us were out of state so it’s not like leaving was an option for us. They ended up giving us 1 night refund for our issues, which was appreciated. We made the best out of the situation and had a wonderful time together as a family. The issues we had with the property management company was just super disappointing. We use VRBO often for our trips and this was the first time we’ve had a bad experience...

I found this place and booked it for a long weekend and much to my surprise, you have to take a boat to get there!! I was a little overwhelmed by the logistics of the trip but after a little bit of research and talking to Laurie on the phone, everything came together. The ferry ride over started the trip with a lot of excitement, and Duncan met us at the boat to help us with all of our stuff. The house was perfect!! We LOVED the downstairs, how all of the bedrooms were on the middle level, and the upstairs is insanely huge. This house truly has everything you need. The decks are amazing, especially the top one!! There were a few things that weren’t perfect - there were two missing smoke detectors (we did not have any issues), the kitchen fridge didn’t close properly (not a formal issue, just had some condensation on the inside of the fridge), the hot tub isn’t actually a hot tub...meaning you can’t heat that part up only, and the washer was off balance so it had a really hard time keeping up with the many loads of towels. These things were small compared to the insanely wonderful experience we had. We can’t wait to visit again!!!

We loved everything about North Captiva and this house! We're already planning our next trip!

We had an amazing getaway at Captivation! The house was well equipped with everything we needed and the island has so much to explore. We didn't want to leave and definitely hope to come back!

We had a wonderful stay at this house mainly because the management company was so quick and efficient!! We needed a few minor things, like propane for the grill and pool maintenance, and they were able to take care of it within 30 mins! It is super quick and easy to get to the beach with plenty of towels! Only a few houses away from the entrance of the preserve as well!We had 10 people from all over and it was super convenient with sooooo much room!! Easily could have had more people and been comfortable. The one thing I would say is the listing states it has a hot tub, but it isnt a hot tub. That was disappointing, but it everything else about the place was great!! We would stay again!!!
2.5
Captivation was the perfect home for our family holiday! There were three generations of family and we all had a wonderful time. The way the house is laid out is perfect. We loved the lower level with all the games and the pool bar and fridge. And all the views! So much outdoor space, everything was perfect. The house had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. The property managers, Tortuga, were very responsive and accommodating, but luckily we didn't really have any issues. This was our second stay on North Captiva, but with a much larger group, and being able to stay at Captivation made this trip more memorable as we got to experience it with all our siblings, nieces and nephews and parents - I highly recommend this home! We home to return some day!
2.5
First, the pictures do NOT do the place justice. The spaces are much larger than they appear in the picture. There are so many areas to go escape - bedroom, TV area, decks, pool, etc. The fact the pool is covered is a huge bonus. We spent each day lounging in or by the pool, playing ping-pong, or watching sunsets from the roof deck. Fantastic location for the beach or walking the preserve. Would recommend this location above any others we've viewed or stayed at!
