About this villa rental
Villa Dos Palmas is on the beautiful Caribbean island of St. John—truly one of the most gorgeous islands in the world. The Villa is located in Coral Bay, on the east end of St. John, which is known for it's laid-back, funky atmosphere and spectacular scenery. Once a remote outpost of the Virgin Islands, Coral Bay has developed into an eclectic collection of shops, galleries and restaurants nestled amidst stunning natural beauty. Situated high on a mountain ridge above the bay, Dos Palmas has expansive views of the Caribbean Sea and all of the British Virgin Islands to the east and south with equally impressive mountain views to the west and north. The view of Virgin Gorda on a moonlit night is an experience of a lifetime as are the softly lit skies of sunrise.
This tastefully decorated home contains three bedrooms, all with large private baths. The Master Bedroom includes a private deck. Air conditioning is an option in all bedrooms, though the tropical breezes and ceiling fans are perfect for most nights. There is a beautiful pool with a covered poolside wet bar and entertainment area including a grill. On the main level there is a large fully equipped kitchen with comfortable counter seating and large living room with entertainment center. Dine al fresco on the spacious covered deck overlooking the sea or celebrate a special night in the formal dining area. The villa also features an internet equipped office and work area.
The property is meticulously landscaped and surrounded by peaceful tropical gardens. Most of the you can pick fresh papaya and starfruit fruit from the garden.
.
We also have two adorable villa kitties that live here. They are primarily outdoors during the day, but sleep indoors at night. They'll need their food put out a couple times a day, please, and some water. They are very clean, very docile, and love attention from guests!.
St. John boasts a wide selection of some of the finest beaches anywhere. Since over 2/3 of the island is US National Park, there are many hiking trails and Danish sugar mill ruins to explore—some which can be hiked right from the villa. There are many more restaurants and shops in Cruz Bay and the famous duty free shopping on St. Thomas. On St. John all types of water sports activities are available and can be arranged prior to your arrival if desired. St. John is also a short boat trip from The British Virgin Islands, with many scenic and adventurous spots to choose from... considered a 'must do' by many vacationers, we'll set up an unforgettable BVI day trip during your stay if you choose. Remember your passport if you want to do a BVI trip.

My family and I could not have been happier with our stay at Dos Palmas. Steve is a great host and we hope to come back soon.

Lovely villa-lots of room and very helpful owner. The two cats are lovely and friendly but if you don’t like cats this would not be the place for you. If you do then this is a great place. We stayed for three weeks and couldn’t have been happier with everything! A great find!

My friends and I have been visiting St. John for over 10 years renting different homes, staying on boats and staying in both Cruz Bay and Coral Bay, our stay at Dos Palmas has been our favorite house so far! Steve the owner is wonderful, you can not beat having a local homeowner who truly cares for their home. His home, Dos Palmas, is a tropical oasis providing us comfort & views in a perfect location on island. Having the cats in the Villa was an added bonus that really made this feel like a home away from home, we did not want to leave! We will certainly come back to Dos Palmas on our next visit and recommend it to anyone, especially animal lovers!

Great property to stay at for a family of four - two adults and two teenage girls. The place has everything you need plus two super engaging cats who stay there full-time. Impressive views, lot useable, fun outdoor space, nice private pool. Host very helpful and communicative with us. Another plus is location in Coral Bay which is quiet and close to many beaches and trails.

We were extremely pleased with our stay at Villa Dos Palmas! Well situated on the Coral Bay side of St. Johns with amazing views, spacious bedrooms and inviting pool on the lower level and an amazing upper level open concept kitchen/living room with attached covered porch provided much needed relaxation.
The resident felines were super welcoming to us and my young daughter really appreciated playing with them. The East side of the island is much less congested with easier access to natural reefs without chartering a boat, or book with Fly Away Charters to see really amazing spots off island!
We highly recommend Villa Dos Palmas to anyone.

The property is set up in the hillside with stunning views of Drake passage and Hurricane Hole, and views of Tortola also.
Location is outstanding if you want to go to multiple beaches and locations on the East side of the Island (Coral Bay, Salt Pond, Maho/Drake, and the East End areas).
We were able to pick fresh starfruit from the trees and relax on the outside deck off the kitchen. Plenty of space to hang out. There is also the patio by the pool which is located near the bedrooms, and a garden/grass foliage area behind the home.
The property is well set up for 2 couples as there are 2 suites, also with a 3rd bedroom that is more of a Kids bedroom but has its own bathroom also.
Having the living/kitchen/eating areas on the main floor and the bedrooms below allows for privacy and the ability to have your own space when you need a little time away from others.
We really wanted for nothing, and the owner was great in giving us the local insights and was very responsive to any questions we had.
There are 2 cats who are very easy to take care of and they will mostly leave you alone unless you want to get to know them better which they will also accommodate.

Spacious vacation home with privacy and majestic views!
We just completed an amazing 11 day stay at Dos Palmas! The property is in Coral Bay, about a 20 minute drive from Cruz Bay, and 10 minutes from the turnoff to the major beaches. It's a 3 level house built into the side of a hill/mountain with fantastic views of the bay and mountains. The first level (main) is the living room, half bath, kitchen, and sitting room. Attached to that is a large covered porch and dining area. Also on the main floor is a detached outdoor shower. Taking the steps down to the next level of the hill are the 3 bedrooms (all with their own bathrooms) and an outdoor deck with pool, patio, and bar. This second level also has great views and is not connected directly to the first level other than through the outdoor stairway. The smallest third level down is a large laundry room. The communication from the owner (Steve) was the best that I've ever had with a VBRO owner- he was available via text and was very responsive. The road to the house is somewhat rough-so a Jeep rental is a MUST (but I would probably say it's a must for being in St. John in any case). Also there are 2 Kayaks for use, so renting equipment to transport them to the beach might be a good idea. The house includes 2 resident cats (Thai Thai and Kali) who spend most of the day outside and are very well behaved and affectionate. They aren't a lot of responsibility-but I would say that if you are not a cat person that this should be a consideration. The kitchen is very well equipped and cooked most of our meals. Also of note, the water pressure is very very solid- and if you've been to St. John before, then you know how important that is. We mainly used the house to relax and also as a "base of operations" for our beach days- and the one regret I have is not being able to fully take advantage of the options to entertain since the house is really set up for that with the various balconies, patios, etc. We would definitely book here again!

Breathtaking views of coral bay
This villa was so beautiful tucked away in the rolling hills above coral bay, the views were absolutely amazing! The villa cats Cali and Ty Ty are soooo friendly and we had a blast taking care of them and watching their daily activities around the house and outside. The pool was perfect and the pool bar and outdoor tiki style shower were really cool . We will definitely be staying here again anytime we visit coral bay !

Beautiful Oasis
My family truly enjoyed our time at Dos Palmas, especially drinking coffee and having breakfast on the patios. The gardens are beautiful! The kids loved playing with the cats and swimming in the pool. Steve was so helpful with travel plans, directions, activity and dining recommendations, and any questions we had before and during our stay. We are grateful for our time at his amazing home!

Excellent stay!
Everything was wonderful about this property - it was very clean, beautifully decorated, very spacious, well equipped and comfortable. The owner was very accommodating - he offered suggestions and tips and was available throughout the whole process for questions and information. We enjoyed the "resident cats" - they were adorable and my kids liked having them vacation with us. The views of Coral Bay and the mountains behind us were beautiful. The home was a little tricky to find and the conditions of the road that led to the house was a bit rough, but having a jeep helped with this. The home was still well worth the travel though! I would highly recommend this property to anyone without hesitation and look forward to our return!

Great house
We had a wonderful time at Dos Palmas. Steve was very helpful and responsive to texts. The house had everything we needed. Would definitely go back! The house is astounding, the pictures don't do it justice. The pool is always the perfect temperature!

Great Trip to Dos Palmas!
Beautiful home, better than advertised. Pictures just don't do views justice. Interior is very comfortable. Owner, Steve, was very accessible and helpful prior to and during trip. 5 minute trip down to Coral Bay. Would highly recommend!

Beyond beautiful!
You always hope vacation will live up to expectations, and this one exceeded ours. We stayed with our 11 month old and 2.5 year old. The home was perfectly clean, the grounds are meticulously landscaped, and the rooms are beautifully decorated (the décor made us feel like we were in Thailand or Bali)! The open plan of the kitchen and living room were ideal for kids and the large deck outside was a bonus play and dining area. We could not get over the view from the deck and pool. Really stunning to see the blue water below and mountains around us! We bought groceries on St. Thomas, but the grocery store at the bottom of the hill near the house was great for anything we ran out of. They even had organic milk. Driving up the steep hill to the house and maneuvering in and out of the driveway were scary at first, but were a breeze by a day or two into the trip. The owner was always available by phone before and during our stay if we had a question. We typically don’t repeat vacation spots, but this home is worth visiting again!

Exceeded Expectations!!
We just returned from our second visit to St. John! This time we took two other couples with us and stayed at Dos Palmas. Our friends were newbies to the island, although we have sailed the BVIs with them on charters several times. We were looking for a comfortable oasis to decompress from 10 days on a sailboat, and this villa totally delivered!
The bedrooms were very comfortable, all with their own baths. The kitchen and living area were spacious and well-equipped. This house has tremendous deck and patio space, with a wonderful pool and outside bar for relaxing. The views from the home are of Hurricane Hole and the East End, up the Sir Frances Drake channel, and the BVIs. The sun rises over Virgin Gorda in the distance. The highlight of the home is the gardens: So many palm trees of all varieties, and flowers and other tropical vegetation create a private and lush setting. The owner Steve has put a lot of love and attention in this villa, and it shows!
We highly recommend Dos Palmas and hope to return some day!

Heaven
This was our second visit to Dos Palmas. Though the photos are great, the home
Is even more beautiful and luxurious.
Steve has thought of everything, including basic supplies in kitchen and laundry room.
He could not have been more helpful checking that we could find our way around,
And had everything we needed.
The home is a resort in itself, so we most often ate there, and relaxed there
After exploring the wonderful beaches and snorkeling daily.
We plan to keep coming.
Couldn't give this a higher rating, for beauty, quality of home and caring of owner.

Fantastic stay
My husband and parents had the best stay at Dos Palmas and a fantastic week in Coral Bay! Steve was helpful and responsive from start to finish. We met the on island contact Kenny when we first arrived and he showed us around the place. Everything was easy, the place was immaculate, and the kitchen fully stocked with cooking utensils. Coral Bay is a great area of St John to stay in order to get away from the crowds at Cruz Bay. Also, many good day trips leave from this part of the island. We did the following activities during the week: powerboat day trip with Fly Away Charters, paddleboarding with SUP, and a sailing day trip with Sail Long Distance. The island is great too because there are many hikes and beaches to explore. We had great meals at Aqua Bistro and Miss Lilly's, and other nights we grilled at Dos Palmas. Just one note, get a car with four wheel drive (which we had) for both getting to the house and also just generally around the island.

Wonderful stay, beautiful house.
My family (three adults, two kids) had a lovely stay in this villa over Thanksgiving. The house was perfect. Very clean and comfortable and had all the needed supplies on hand (towels, beach chairs). It is an easy drive to all the beaches from the house and we spent all our days exploring. The views are amazing from the house and the breeze is so nice! Steve was very helpful as we planned our trip and when we arrived. He left a list of recommended sights and restaurants and kept in touch during our stay.
We asked for a 4WD and did not get one, that was OK for reaching the house but limited us a little on the island. There is a brand new full supermarket just down the hill (Dolphin Market). It opened the day we left, but that will eliminate the need to go to Cruz Bay at all once you get there!

Fabulous villa, distinctive decor, breathtaking vistas . . . perfect paradise ...
Spent a week at this villa and enjoyed every minute . . . beautiful amenities (even beach towels and bath soap were included). Got to see the entire island from this convenient home base. The owner is gracious, resourceful and helpful. What more could you ask for?

Absolutely wonderful!
My family & I recently stayed at Dos Palmas for 10 days. Our party consisted of 3 adults & 2 children (ages 2 & 4). My husband & brother-in-law had been to the USVI before but this was my first visit. We had a wonderful time!
The Villa is located in Coral Bay (the quieter side of the island) and is about a 25-30 minute drive to the St. Thomas ferry. Steve, the owner, was extremely helpful. He was always available to answer any questions. He touched base with us before we arrived & made sure we had an escort to the house. Once there, he checked in with us to make sure that all was going smoothly & had great suggestions for restaurants & groceries. (Be sure to try Rhumb Lines in Cruz Bay…AMAZING!)
The new pictures of the house are great but the house is even more wonderful in person. Steve has obviously spent a lot of time & energy on the beautiful gardens surrounding the house. There was a constant breeze while we there so we never needed to use the air conditioning (though it was available in all of the bedrooms). The house was very clean & well kept. The open plan kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed for the few nights we decided to eat in. While in the kitchen, we were able to see right into the living room to supervise the kids. There was a gaming system (I believe it was a playstation 2) with games available. My kids were a little young for it but it is there. Wifi was also available. The laundry was much appreciated. The machines are new & detergent/dryer sheets were provided. There are porches surrounding the house & beautiful views of the Bay & the British Virgin Islands in the distance. It is very peaceful & there are not many neighbors.
There are many options for hiking, swimming, beaches, scuba, snorkeling, sailing or shopping...all within 30 minutes of the Villa.
For those new to St. John, I would HIGHLY recommend renting a SUV or jeep. If you are renting a vehicle straight from the STT airport, be aware that some rental companies don't rent to St. John at all or don't rent certain vehicles (i.e. regular cars) to go to St John. We used Amalie car rental & had a wonderful experience. Also, if you are staying in the prime season, reserve your vehicle early. They WILL sell out.
I would absolutely recommend the property to anyone and would stay there again in a nanosecond.

Our Second Stay at Dos Palmas as lovely as our first!
We just returned from St. John and Dos Palmas on Jan. 2nd. It was our second Christmas – New Years visit. We loved the place so much last year that I immediately asked Steve if we could rent it again this year. We took our family group – my husband and I, our 3 sons and three females – total of 8 adults.
We have stayed in Villas with our family in Antigua and Virgin Gorda (8 times) and visited many islands, experiencing all types of accommodations. St. John and Dos Palmas would be as good as it gets! Coral Bay is the quiet side of the island. The views from Dos Palmas are of the British Virgin Islands in the distance.
The bedrooms at Dos Palmas are lovely, the bathrooms are very nice. The upstairs Living/Dining/Kitchen is just fabulous for gathering, cooking, listening to music, whatever you like. The upstairs of the Villa can be completely opened up to the wonderful breezes that blow constantly. The exterior landscaping is fascinating to us as we are outdoor oriented, biologically educated types. So there are lots of pictures of the gardens around the Villa – and, some specific plants that I found lovely.
My sons and their father are Scuba Divers. We’ve taken trips with groups and rented tanks for shore diving. The snorkeling from all of the beaches on the Coral Bay side that we visited is great! Our favorite for snorkeling and shore diving is Kiddle Bay.
I can’t recommend St. John and the Dos Palmas Villa any more highly. We had everything we needed right there at the Villa … even beach chairs and coolers. The kitchen is great for cooking and extremely well stocked.

Great week!
We had a wonderful time at Dos Palmas and loved the house. It was a beautiful setting and perfect for our needs. Much thought put into the design and layout of the house. Beautiful and unique art/decor throughout. Lots of outdoor space, lovely pool, rooms were clean and comfortable. So nice having a laundry room - especially when traveling with an infant. It was also our first time staying on the Coral Bay side of the island and we are sold! Very easy drive to beaches at Maho, Cinnamon, Trunk, Salt Pond, and Lameshure Bay, without the "traffic" of Cruz Bay. Plus great restaurant options on that side of the island. The owner - Steve - made all the arrangements very easy and was accommodating to our needs (e.g. providing pack and play for our infant) and our very delayed flight. Can't wait to visit again and stay at Dos Palmas!
