About this villa rental
HALCYON DAYS VILLA - Nestled upon a finger of land jutting out into St. John's famous Coral Bay, the largest natural harbor in the Caribbean. The home has panoramic views of a nearby fringing reef, British Tortola, Norman Island, St John's East End and Coral Bay.
Danish style stone house completely rebuilt after being hit by Hurricanes Irma/Maria in September 2017. Furnishings and appliances are completely new. Cabinetry is Nicaraguan mahogany.
Butterfly palms, a towering schefflera and Corinthian chimes greet our guests as they enter Danish archway doors into the atrium.
The upstairs living room invites multiple gathering in one area: reading, table games, napping, tv, kitchen prep and grilling on the extended deck.
In our outdoor space there are: Flamboya, mango and calabash trees, fruits and herbs - avocado, papaya, banana plants, lime and cashew bushes, lemongrass, aloe, and basil. All available for renters when in season. Wildlife provides constant fascination and amusement. Startling egrets visit in the morning to hunt. On neighborhood walks we frequently see land turtles, hummingbirds and their nests, golden orb spiders in their webs, wandering donkeys, goats and sheep. Deer come for visits in the late afternoon.
Birdwatching is a favorite pastime. Bananaquits visit our sugar bowl daily, mourning doves, thrashers, and the magnificent American Kestrals are close by.
Easy to use flat paved parking area with room for three or four cars.
Nearby favorite beaches include Salt Pond and Lameshur are close by, along with hiking to Ram's Head or Danish ruins. Our favorite restaurant, Miss Lucy's with its tables by the ocean is 4 minutes away, Rhumb Lines, another favorite, is 10 minutes away. The infamous Skinny Legs is across the street from Rhumb Lines. For those who enjoy yoga, classes are held both at the community center, Our Place, and Concordia.

Our stay here was wonderful! We rented the house as a gift for my parents and they absolutely loved it! It’s hard to tell from the photos but the rooms in the house are actually in separate sections making them nice and private for people traveling in groups. The kitchen/living room is very spacious with windows all around with beautiful views. The house had everything we needed, beach chairs, beach towels, many kitchen supplies, they had soap and shampoo in the showers, they thought of all the details. They also had a very helpful binder of information about the house and things to do on the island. The communication was great with the homeowners, they even called to make sure everything was fine and we were enjoying our stay. I was also impressed with the property manager who answered all my questions quickly. We got to meet the property manager and the gardener and they were both very nice. The yard is filled with beautiful plants and flowers that are obviously well taken care of. The area is very quiet with only a few houses on the road. We only got lost a few times driving 😆 make sure you read the directions carefully that the homeowners provide because you can’t just look up the address on your phone GPS. What we did is, once we found the house we dropped a pinned location on our phone GPS so that we could easily find the house later.
Overall this was a very peaceful, relaxing stay and we would love to come back in the future!

The photos of this beautiful Villa don’t do it any justice! The view was fabulous and the rooms and living spaces were very well appointed and the beds were extremely comfortable as well. I would highly recommend staying if you’re planning on staying in Coral Bay!

Halcyon Days is a well thought out, beautiful, and comfortable property. The photos can’t even capture how beautiful the views are from the outdoor spaces, and the atrium was so serene. Our family of four was so happy to come home to this property everyday after lots of snorkeling and exploring all that St John has to offer. Every amenity was provided and the beds were very comfortable. We loved our stay at Halcyon Days!

We generally rent 2 to 3 vacation homes, cabins etc each year during our vacations and this home is the best we have ever seen. The views are mind blowing - no pictures can do them justice. The kitchen is fantastic with everything that you would need to cook. The stores on the island have limited selections and are EXPENSIVE. Best to try and stock up at Cruz Bay before heading to the house.
The directions were straight forward and for St John - the drive was very easy. A lot of the side roads on the island are insane.
On our first day, we started to scheme about how and when we could come back.
Enjoy

From the first moment you open the double doors leading into the courtyard you know you are someplace special. You move from multiple indoor to outdoor spaces leaving you to reside in the best of both worlds.
The property takes advantage of being in the hills with privacy, views and warm breezes. The bedrooms, bathrooms and kitchen are all very well appointed and spotless. ( even when I thought I couldn’t find a mixer to make a birthday cake, I looked a little further and of course I found one). Everything we needed whether going to the beach or staying home playing games, reading books and enjoying being reunited with family was all readily available.
This isn’t a diamond in the rough. The hosts and this place are the finished and polished gem itself.

Straight Out of Architectural Digest
This house is AH MAZING! I felt like a celebrity. From the moment you open the front door into the atrium you know you have arrived. The photos do not do this home justice. Even the photos I took don't do the home or the views justice. There is a postcard view from every single window and patio. The laundry was so nice for our family of 6 because we don't pack a lot. The house had everything you need to enjoy your stay. We brought our own snorkel gear but the house had plenty. There are beach towels, toys and sunscreen for your use. The bar is also well stocked which was a pleasant surprise. Drink a bottle, leave a bottle. So fun. If I had known, I would have brought a local wine from PA to leave for the next guest. We actually had a pretty sick kiddo on this trip and I stayed back at the house for two days with them. It was a joy! I never felt like I was missing out on beach time because the views were so incredible. Bring your own meds because there isn't a hospital and the car barge stops running to St. Thomas at 6:30pm. That was the only scary part of St. John other than the roads! This house has a very easy lane leading to the FLAT driveway!!! The owner called us on our second day to make sure we were happy and the house manager, Jeremy, met us at the ferry to take us to the grocery store, give us a quick tour and lead us to the house. There isn't a lot of restaurant choices close to this house so book your reservations before you arrive but there is a very close grocery store where Ali has fresh local fish for you to purchase. The kitchen and grill at the house make eating at home a delight! There are plenty of spices to get you started and I left a few that I purchased as well. You deserve to stay in a place like this at least once in your life. Book it today!!!!

Top Island Vacation Visit.
To say that a week's vacation at the Halcyon Days Villa on coral Bay is a unique experience is an understatement. St. John is certainly the most beautiful of the U. S Virgin Islands, and there is nothing prettier than the backside of the Island on Coral Bay. The views from the Villa are spectacular. And in this day and age, it could not be a safer place to vacation. The Villa is functional, fully equipped, and extremely roomy was a number of nooks for privacy. kIt's perfect for a large family or four couples. Wrap around decks make ocean views spectacular all day, but particularly at night. Good local entertainment and Island cuisine close by. Really a great place to vacation.

Amazing house to stay in Coral Bay. Halcyon Days is the BEST!
I am writing this review on our last night at Halcyon Days as I sit on the wrap-around deck with the ocean breeze and the gorgeous view. We stayed from 3/5/2016 to 3/11/2016. This house is so incredibly fantastic! The owners, Bill and Lois, have set up a beautiful house that is perfect to stay in on St. Johns. The house has the most amazing deck with lounge chairs, tables and regular chairs. One of our favorite things to do is have a cup of coffee and watch the sun rise over the islands all while sitting in the front part of the deck.
When we first walked in the house we were all just wowed with the atrium that greets you as you open the door. The owners have EVERYTHING you need for your beach time right in the atrium(chairs, fins, snorkel gear, toys). They have beach towels and anything think else you could possible need. We walked up the stairs and went into the main room. A huge kitchen with a view of Coral Bay greets you. The owners have thought of anything possible you could need to cook. The kitchen is fully stocked and very comfortable to find what you need in. We did cook many of our meals as it was cheaper than eating out. The couch and TV area has sliding doors that you can open while you are home to rest and relax and feel the breeze. Upstairs is a bathroom and then a master bedroom with the best shower I have ever seen or experiences. The upstairs master bathroom is stone and roomy with two sinks. There is another single bed up stairs and another bathroom (which is perfect if traveling with a little one). Downstairs are the three other bedrooms and another master bedroom, and two more bathrooms. They have great views and are perfect. Outside the house is great as well. We were able to pick limes right off of a tree! The area it is located in is so relaxing and quiet with just the breeze and sounds of the ocean.
Thank you , Bill and Lois, for letting us rent you perfect house. This has given our family the experience of a lifetime and we are already talking about coming back! We had a difficult time leaving the house the first day here because we just wanted to be on the porch and relax. We talked to some people at Salt Pond Bay about where we were staying and they were so impressed with our comments they are going to look for Halcyon Days too! If you choose to rent from Bill and Lois, you are in for a vacation house of a lifetime. Thank you again,
Amy

Go and Enjoy
Beautiful and functional house. The views from the deck and the living room are spectacular. Great bathrooms, 3 of the 4 have 2 sinks. This was the best equipped kitchen we've ever rented, with all the equipment you may need and as many spices as we have in our home. Food prices in the local groceries are high though ($13 for a jar of organic tomato sauce). Beautiful garden surrounding the house though unfortunately the fruit wasn't ripe at this time of the year. Some of us brought snorkeling gear and the rest used what was at the house. The owner was quite responsive to all our pre trip questions and called to see how we were doing. I can think of no reason not to rent this house.
FYI - Coral Bay is the quieter side of the island. There are some nice beaches within a 10-15 minute drive. Snorkeling is ok but the coral reef has suffered since we were last on St. John 7 years ago. By all means climb Ram's Head for beautiful views but go shortly after sun rise as it get's hot quickly. Visit Drunk Bay for the locals rock sculpture. If you've not been to St. John be ready for steep and curvy roads. You can get by with a car but a jeep is better. There are "free range" donkeys, goats and chickens. You'll enjoy the pelicans diving into a foot of water, the magnificent frigates overhead and the occasional booby. GO!
