About this cottage rental
The Kemah Cottage offers a unique setting quite different from a beach house or condo. It was built and furnished with love meant for people that enjoy a cottage feeling. The home is extremely comfortable offering antique furnishings and fixtures everywhere. With 2 king size beds, and a Lazy Boy queen sleeper sofa that a hotel quality mattress for extra comfort. Palm landscaping provides privacy from the road and a large, fenced backyard with a doggy door. There is a front and back patio both covered to enjoy your morning coffee with covered parking. Freshly painted and brand new mini splits in every room installed 2023.
The cottage is located in Bacliff, next to Kemah and 2 miles from the Kemah boardwalk. Bacliff's population is 8,000 know as an old fishing town at one time. It is unincorporated with no deed restrictions, so it is unique in its own right. You will see nice homes and cottages next to business and some older trailers. This small town is near everything that the area has offer but is unconventional and some residents do have roosters. I stayed in the cottage for the month of June 2023 and was not woken up by roosters not once.
The cottage is fully equipped with internet and walking distance to a Family Dollar and is located a few blocks from Galveston Bay, 5 min. to Kemah Boardwalk and 15 min. to Galveston Island and Moody Gardens. It is very close to Nasa Space Center and about 20 min. from Hobby Airport and about 30 min. to Downtown Houston.
Check out listing # 4778811, Clifton By The Sea Bungalow, 2 doors down from the Cozy Cottage. This is a 1 bedroom quaint cozy bungalow! Perfect for smaller parties! You can rent out both of my properties together for family gatherings!

When we first arrived we were disappointed with the neighbourhood. Itwas mostly old trailer homesin variousforms of disrepair with yards full of junk. There were some houses here and there. the house wasn't very clean when we arrived but my wife washed everything and cleaned it up nicely. The showers were moldy and no matter what she did she couldn't remove it she also washed all the windows so we could see out. The beds were comfortable and the front porch and back deck were very nice. The front porch allowed you to watch all the cars with loud motors and even louder mufflers race up and down the street all day and night with the dogs barking 24/7 and roosters chiming in around 3 or 4 a.m. it was awonderful cacophony of sound. As for our landlord our internet and t.v. went out and took 2 days to fix the second t.v. was ok because its not hooked up to anything. Then the kitchen stove quit. The neighbor came over twice to try and fix it to no avail. The neighbor is a great guy but works fulltime so he's mostly unavailable. So after a week she finally sent out a service tech. but couldn't decide on what to do.She told me i was lucky that it happened near the end of our stay rather than at the start and maybe we should go to walmart and buy a camp stove so could at least heat a can of beans. Finally after 2 weeks we got a new stove. Eating out for that amount of time was an added expense we didn't count on. In our opinionif you have a rental property but live 4 states away you should have a better support system like a property management co. or someone to take care of things in a timely manor so people don't have to wait 2 weeks to get things resolved. We will never be back.

Arrived to a very cold house. (In the 50s)Could not find a thermostat. This is how we found that there is no central air or heat. AC window units and space heaters. First thing i found was a half full cup of coffee? on kitchen counter that had been there so long it had mold growing in it. The coffee maker had old grounds still in it. The dishwasher had dirty cups and glasses in it. Trash can half full of garbage. Dirty towels in the washer & towels in dryer. Assorted food in fridge. Mold/mildew in front shower. We left and went to hotel. ($114.) Called host and told her condition. Her response was, "are the beds made?" I said yes. Her response, "if the beds are made then the house was cleaned". Later she called back and said the cleaning person was at house and found no dirty dishes. I told her I had pictures. She asked me to text them to her. I called VRBO to get refund. VRBO person said he would call host. He called back and said host refused to give refund. Next morning went back to house since we were not able to throw away $3200.. At house we found moldy coffee cup had been rinsed, not cleaned, still had crusty ring around inside, in the cabinet along with the dirty glasses from the dishwasher. Coffee maker was emptied. Food removed from fridge. Trash still not emptied. Towels still in washer/dryer. We never used any dishes and those dirty cups & glasses are still in cabinet. Spent first days cleaning but mold/mildew could not be removed from shower so just used rear shower. VRBO did refund their fee so that was a little something. Cut our stay short so we didnt lose all we had to pay. Still have pics for anyone to see. Now for neighborhood. If you like barking dogs, lots of loud vehicles and thumping stereos from some surrounding neighbors (as late as 3:40 am), then this is the place for you.

Great Vacation
We stayed during Spring Break and all was well. This was a very special trip for us due to many reasons. It was nice to have a great place to stay and relax. It is very close to so much so we never felt like we did more driving than relaxing which is so easy to do while on vacation.

nice place
nice place. everything worked but there was a fence board missing so we could not leave the dog unattended in the back yard. yall will need to get that fixed. Wife loved all the old glasswear and other odds and ends to look at. thanks for the stay.

Very comfortable house !!!
Me and my family enjoyed staying at the cotton for two nights, it was very comfy we all loved it.
I recommend to replace the spices for the food they seemed old.

Nice place off the grid.
The property is nice, however did not enjoy the resident cat. The dishwasher does not work and had to hand squeeze our clothes cause the washer does not spin. Overall a nice place but I believe overpriced.

Lots of room
Property was nice, and had lots of room. Did not understand tv system, but made do. Bacliff is centrally located and made a great hub. House is older but in good condition. Owner fixed items quickly. Cleaning service could do a better job with deep cleaning (windows & blinds, ect). Enjoyed our stay.

New Year's Getaway
This was a very charming little house with plenty of decorations. It was well equipped with kitchen items and if you look in the pantry you might even find some extras. The beds were very comfortable.
It's in a neighborhood so that makes things a little more homey.
The owner was very easy to get a hold of and very helpful.
I would definitely stay there again.

House is so neat!
The house is quite charming and really unique. The area that the house is located in is another story, it is very rundown and I am not sure I would have felt safe there without my husband. Also, next door they have dogs that bark constantly!
I wish the house was in another location and I would be back every time I come to town!

The Cottage
We love the cottage but it needs some attention. The cleaning crew is not doing a good job, the ceiling fans are dirty, the dishwasher leaks, the bed linens, pillows and comforters need replacing badly.
This is our second trip and we’d love to return again but need to see some upgrades made to the property.

Nice little hideaway
The house was perfect for what we needed and conveniently located to Dickenson and San Leon (as well as Kemah, but we didn't head that way). Nice, clean, and comfortable, with plenty of space so that we never felt cramped. We would certainly consider staying here again.

This little piece of heaven was perfect for our weekend getaway. Very pleased
This little cottage was very cozy & we loved everything about it. We spent most of our time out on the back porch area which was covered & very relaxing. We would love to visit this place again. The attention to detail in the decorating to the wooden beams in the ceilings was awesome. We absolutely loved this place. Very quiet neighborhood as well! I would recommend to anyone looking for a peaceful little getaway.

A diamond in the rough!!! You won’t be disappointed!!
loved, loved, loved this cottage!! Had reservations at first because we’ve always stayed in hotels but all that went away once we opened the doors to the cottage! Charlie was very helpful and was always easy to reach! The house was immaculate! I am a supervisor of a hotel and cleanliness is the first thing I look for. We will definitely be staying here when we come back to Galveston. The cottage was cool when we arrived. Didn’t have to buy many things because she took care of just about everything you can think of! Thank you Charlie for paying attention to all the little things!

Thanks Sharlene
We noticed that you had a lot of Coca Cola antiques. Just wanted you to know that our grandfather Les Kouba is the artist who did the most current Coca Cola logo many years ago while in Atlanta, Georgia. He is deceased now but could draw the logo upside down as so many people wanted him to autograph the logo. It was fun seeing all the antiques.

Really enjoyed my stay at the cottage. It was clean and I had everything I needed for my stay. Beds were comfortable. Would definitely stay again! The cottage is also a very, cute and quaint house.
I really liked that it was also close to Kemah and Galveston.

Loved it!
Charlie is an excellent host! She responded quickly to our booking request and questions. The Cottage is like walking into your own home, everything is set up perfectly and comfortably. We loved the way it is furnished and having a pet door and fenced yard was a great surprise to our fur baby. She felt right at home when we walked in the door and out the back, LOL. It is close to Noah’s Ark restaurant, one of our favorites, and close enough to Kemah and all the other fun in the area. We can’t wait to go back! Thanks Charlie!!! Bill, Dale & Peggy Sue

The attention to detail for this property is amazing!!! I read reviews and I was a little concerned by some of the reviews listed on this property but booked it with hopes for the best. It was a great gamble. The house does not have central A/C and I was worried because we like it cold when we sleep, window units and fans in the house were more than adequate for us, which says a lot because visitors at our home often call us polar bears. Bacliff does not have the best criminal rating but, there is a police substation not far from the house, we felt safe, had no problems with neighbors. The backyard is an amazing/peaceful oasis, we LOVED it!!! We are also a little spoiled when it comes to our beds, we all slept like babies the mattresses are perfect. Someone has put a lot of effort and love into this house and we were grateful to experience it!

Warm and inviting decor! Great stay!
We stayed in the cottage for almost a month. It was very nice, clean, had everything we needed and then some. The owner was very nice to deal with and I would recommend to stay here. She was also very accommodating with my pets as I appreciated that as well. Location is also very close to boardwalk and restaurants and shopping. We enjoyed our stay!

Family Stay
The house is quaint, lots of knick-knacks on well done wooden shelving. Beds were comfortable, bedrooms spacious. The fenced backyard and porches provided a safe place for the kids and grandkids. The kitchen is quite small but adequate. There is no central heating or air conditioning. The small space heaters were inadequate to warm the house during our stay. A musty, un-aired smell permeated the home and only opening the front and back doors during the provided some relief.

We enjoyed our stay here. The home was well appointed with everything we could have needed. The kids enjoyed playing in the front yard while I drank coffee on the porch.

This is a pet friendly property with a well fenced back yard. Pantry was stock with coffee, filters, cooking oil , salt, pepper, etc.. Overall the property was clean and well kept. Very disappointed about the a/c situation. The three small window units could not keep the house cool. The beds in both bedrooms had large amounts of hair on the sheets, leading me to believe the sheets had not been changed since the last time someone had stayed there. The mattress on the pullout is adequate at best. The shower in the first bedroom also contained large quantities of hair in it too. If the place would have had central a/c (or properly sized window units) and clean sheets and bathrooms I would have given it four stars.

The cottage is vintage, clean, and in a mixed housing area. Stayed 3 days with our dogs and enjoyed our stay with no issues. The beds are comfy and the bathrooms are large. The WiFi is strong, and there is Netflix service on the flat screen. There is covered parking and a tall privacy fence around the property. Good location to Kemah, 5 minutes, and 30 minutes to Galveston.

Absolutely enjoyed our visit! Love all the antiques. Nice cozy king size beds. Will definitely book this cottage again in the future. Fully functional kitchen. Bbq grill that uses charcoal or propane. Fully fenced back yard for our little dog. He definitely enjoyed the back yard. (He's an apartment baby)
House was very clean when we arrived.

We enjoyed over 3 weeks in this cute two
Bedroom cottage. Convenient to many attractions. My husband and I rode our bikes the scenic route to the boardwalk a few times. We also enjoyed morning and evening strolls through the neighborhood. The cottage is also walking distance to a restaurant on Galveston bay. We never ate their but enjoyed the walk and watching people use the boat dock.

It was a home away from home with a very cozy atmosphere. We stayed five weeks and enjoyed how close to everything it was.

The property was nice and cozy. The air conditioner was on when we arrived so it was extremely cold. Once we turned on the heater it was much better. The weather was a little chilly for this time of the year here. However, the cottage itself was really nice. I would definitely stay again.
