The Space
Mid century meets Hollywood glam in our stunning, fully renovated, historic home. Originally built in 1888 by premiere architect Julius Germuller (known for intricate stone-work in the iconic DC Rowhouses), guests can experience a charm and history completely unique to anything else.
We can comfortably sleep 10 guests in 2 bedrooms with 2 bathrooms as follows;
~ Sofa bed in the family room
~ King sized bed and full/double sized sofa bed in the master bedroom
~ Queen sized bed and full / double sized sofa bed in the second bedroom
Guests can turn the key, and enter a spacious living room with furniture boasting warm hues and the softest luxurious fabrics - perfect for slinking back after a long day of enjoying the city resting outside your door. With original artwork, carefully selected reading materials and decor; this is quite the spot to unwind - you may not want to leave!
Three TV`s (living room, and one in each bedroom) come outfitted with smart streaming & cable; allowing guests who can`t sleep without their favorite programs, the opportunity to stream to their heart`s content (perfect for those traveling with families).
The fully renovated kitchen comes complete with everything one might need to cook up a storm. The veritable heart of the home overlooks the hustle and bustle of the city via an expansive bay window, and includes all new appliances, breakfast bar seating, and a lovely wraparound bench. Mosey over to the dining table by the living room bay window for a change of scenery, and an interactive space where folks can dine, unwind, and relax.
The master suite boasts a king sized canopy bed, which adds shimmering style to the space. With a queen sized sofa bed in the same room, it is both comfortable and functional. Enjoy the en-suite bathroom with two rain shower heads - THE way to start the day!
There`s a washer/dryer for your convenience and a laptop friendly workspace between the bedrooms, that overlooks the street for some good people watching.
The second bedroom has a queen bed and also has a pull-out sofa to sleep little ones, or an additional guest. Much like the kitchen; the second bedroom boasts views from every angle through its wall of windows (but shades are included for additional privacy).
Guests will have complete control of the space - from the temperature, to cable TV, to an intercom system - making this lovely space your perfect home base for your trip to the nation`s capital. For a breath of fresh air, just pop out front to relax with a cup of coffee or glass of wine in the wicker rocking chairs that overlook the hustle and bustle of the city-scape.

Spent a long HOT weekend at the nation’s capital. This property is close to metro, and very lovely with lots of character. Very comfortable for the family of 5. The futon in the second bedroom is unusable as a sleeping space or couch - all you feel is springs and then a wooden support in the middle. But my younger girls were able to sleep on the other 2 couches. Beds were comfy, lots of linens and pillows. We didn’t cook but there would have been everything we needed. Very easy check-in and out. Felt safe. Grocery store several blocks away but within walking distance and a few restaurants and bars close. Obviously with a close metro station, you can go anywhere. Very glad we stayed!!!! Thank you for your hospitality!!!!

We couldn’t have asked for anything better for our stay. The place was lovely and had everything we needed. The location was perfect (we used the metro for all of our travel and loved how close it was). The kitchen was well equipped (loved the coffee—thank you!). Hosts were very responsive and accommodating.
Info that might be relevant for larger groups - the king bedroom has a sleeper sofa, but when it’s pulled out, one side of the king bed is not really accessible. We appreciated the abundance of sleeper sofas though for options (king room, second room, and living room all have one).
Everything was very comfortable and pleasant. Thank you for such a wonderful stay!

This place was absolutely amazing!!! It was so welcoming and comfortable, with thoughtful consideration given to every detail, from the luxuriousness of the bed and bedding to the dual-head shower system to the wonderfully designed and modern kitchen. We were so happy with the home that we did not want to leave.
Well that was until the last day when we were woken from our comfortable and much needed sleep to an alarm system blaring throughout the house at 8:00 in the morning, after we had paid an additional fee for a late checkout.

I have seen many apartments but nothing was ever as spectacular as this place. The owner clearly has a lot of design sense and the attention to detail was amazing. Do not book this if you only want to sleep here - it's too beautiful for that! It is truly gorgeous.

We really enjoyed our stay with DC being so walkable, we were able to eat at great restaurants on 14th, coffee at Boon on 11th, happy hour at Dacha Beer Garden and nearby Whole Foods.
The downstairs tv, tables were good for both end of day tv time and working during the day and kitchen had all we needed.
We had a car and the provided parking pass allowed us to park on street easily and we never had trouble finding a spot within a block. The owners also approved our parking pass (via DC website) on short notice so we did not have problems.
Its big city living, and right on Rhode Island ave, so there were intermittent sirens overnight and a friendly neighbor advised us to be sure to lock doors, so might not stay here if you can't sleep through city noises.
The "sleeps 10" involves 3 couches, 2 of which are in bedrooms with beds and can only be used as couches (though we did not ask), so 4 6 footers were a little more crammed than I would've liked.
We also had an issue trying to find a constant beep echoing downstairs that we thought might be a smoke detector but turned out to be a dishwash left ajar. Finally, we had to add batteries to the ceiling fan remote to get it to work. They sent maintenance person out to look, but he was unable to solve, but we did. The owners were still responsive to our concerns so no real complaint here, but maybe they could update their house guide for these potential problems (and maybe add a bit on how to get to TV listings).

Great weekend get away!
This was a great home ag way from home. Everything we needed and more. Location made it easy to use the metro or walk. Ate our evening meals and one breakfast in the neighborhood and the options were perfect. Always check ahead as Covid may change availability. We found the livingroom very comfortable to relax in before we headed out in the morning and cozy in the evening for a cocktail and fire in the fireplace. Anything you need to make meals is waiting in the kitchen... fully equiped. Lastly we found the bedrooms to be very comfortable and the closet space excellent. Would we stay there again? Absolutely.

Birthday plans
With Corona, we had to find an alternative to celebrate my friend’s birthday in style but in a slightly different way. We had a staycation in this charming house, which is exactly what we needed!

Beautiful home in a Lovely neighborhood
Overall we really enjoyed our stay. The home is lovely, clean and so cozy. Having the washing machine available is great to avoid over packing during travel. It is easy to take a short walk up U to 14th to find a large variety of wonderful places to eat or hang out. The only negative I would say is that there is not parking or parking pass provided, so you must use a parking website to find parking if you drive into DC. overall my husband and our 4 children really enjoyed this location!!

Fabulous DC Vacation Home!
This home is perfectly set up for families and is located in a great location. We felt very safe and walking to fun coffee/breakfast spots was easy. The home itself is impeccably clean and the little details didn't go unnoticed. There was a bottle of bubbly waiting for us as well as coffee, tea, sweeteners and creamer making the first morning smooth. The home offers a great master suite with a 3/4 bath and the 2nd bedroom is a great size and also has a 3/4 bath. The living room is inviting and comfortable to relax in. All in all, we'd loved this home and would absolutely stay again for our next visit!
