Great location, rooms full of light, arm and comfortable.

We enjoyed our time at the Knollette. The location was perfectly nestled in the woods, very close to the causeway which was great for exploring yet close to town.
The house had everything we needed and was very clean.
We would stay again.

Great location. Loved the dark nights, yet easy walk into downtown Southwest Harbor. The cottage was nice, with all of the basic necessities. Enjoyed views of deer trekking across the property daily, and even a fox or two.

The Knowlette is ideally located within walking distance of Southwest restaurants and shops. The Causeway at the end of the lane makes for a great morning or evening stroll to observe the dramatic tidechanges.

Cottage was immaculate and supplied with everything that we needed for an enjoyable and comfortable stay. We also appreciated that the area was quiet and within walking distance to the water and beautiful views.

I loved this 2 bedroom 'contemporary cabin' the bedrooms were roomy with good closet space. The large main room has tons of windows and was well laid out and comfortable. Everything worked! The kitchen space was lovely - it's a real kitchen with real kitchen stuff. Location is perfect - walk to town, or Beals lobster pier, walk to the causeway, you could even take the causeway and walk all the way to the IGA for grocery shopping if your inclined! And all the rest of Acadia is a short drive away. Super peaceful and quiet as well.

We had such a lovely time at this cabin. Couldn’t ask for a better location, secluded street but close enough to walk to many things in town. We saw deer every morning and every evening in the field beside the house. The cabin itself is fully equipped with anything you could need. Beds are comfortable and the fire pit is such a nice added bonus. Will definitely be booking again.

Perfect for a peaceful vacation + jaunts into Acadia!

Lovely property and amazing hosts. It was like walking into your grandparents house (according to my teenage kids) .. we had no complaints! There was nothing we felt was missing for a spectacular stay. The house is a short walk into town and an easy drive to anywhere on the island. The locals we met were all friendly and welcoming. We picked Maine on a whim and could not have had a better vacation! We hope to come back and bring our family!

We chose this property because of the promise of a secluded cabin with walking access to downtown Southharbor. This was a very apt description. Walking to downtown was very doable plus there was a lovely walk down to the ocean.
The accommodations were very comfortable with a kitchen with gas stove and most spices. We often will purchase fresh seafood and vegetables to make, so the kitchen was very conducive to this practice.
The only downside (no fault of the hosts) was that the road near Seawall was closed. We enjoy Ships Harbor trail and Wonderland for bird watching. Closure of the road made this a bit more of a drive.
We would definitely stay in this VRBO again and can highly recommend it.

The cabin was the ideal location for our family of four to spend a beautiful and quiet week exploring Acadia. The setting is so peaceful and the cabin had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We especially loved the proximity to the water via a short walk down the road. Adair was so helpful with questions and information ahead of our trip. It was a wonderful experience overall - and we very much hope to be back again sometime in the future.

This small cozy cottage is tucked away in the woods and was perfect for my family of three. The location is perfect because it's close to all the attractions on the Island such as Bar Harbor and Acadia national park, but it's just far enough away to not be in all the hustle and bustle of those areas. There are small grocery stores nearby to restock on anything you need as well. Our favorite thing to do during our stay was to walk down to the causeway to explore and enjoy the beautiful coastal views.

Our stay at the Cozy Cottage far exceeded our expectations. We settled in comfortably and found all that we needed to enjoy our stay. We enjoyed walking into town for a meal and a view of the coast. Most of all, though, we delighted in the Causeway, which was only a five minute walk down the road. We were mesmerized by the tide, swam in the cove, and even caught mackerel dinner one evening. We felt most welcome by the hosting family and would highly recommend the Cozy Cottage in the Woods.

Fantastic cottage. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay!! We plan on returning next year!! Only complaint is the driveway was a challenge with a van. A couple of trees really need to be taken down.

The Knollette is a fantastic place for staying near Acadia if you want to escape the crowds near Bar Harbor. The house is quaint, in a quiet location, and is plenty of space for four to spread out and relax. The true highlight is the property itself with the expansive back yard, surrounded by trees, complete with table, chairs, and a fire pit! We had many late nights enjoying a fire and the crisp, quiet, night air. It is also steps (or a bike ride) from the Causeway, and the Valley Cove and Summit Trails which offer beautiful views and challenging terrain for hikers, as well as Echo Lake if you want to go for a swim. Southwest Harbor is also a great little town. You have everything you need from a grocery store, cafes, shops, and some great places to eat lunch and dinner. All in all a cozy, quiet, and comfortable place to relax after a day of hiking and sight seeing in Acadia.

This house is cozy and well appointed with everything you need to feel home away from home.
We loved being able to walk to MDI BBQ (the best!) and Beal's lobster, and it was close to Echo lake and many great Acadia hikes.
Our host included many nice touches including everything you need to prepare meals or pack snacks, fresh cut flowers, and was a great communicator.

We absolutely loved the location and the 2 bedroom cottage was cozy yet spacious. Close proximity to many great hiking trails around Echo Lake, and just a 20 minute drive to the carriage trails in Acadia National Park. We would definitely come visit again.

We had a nice stay. It was nice to retreat to the cabin after the crowds in Bar Harbor and the park. The property is lovely.

This property exceeded our expectations in every way. The cottage is so pretty and bright and has every amenity available, including firewood for the fire pit. There is a very sweet folder full of helpful tips and recommendations. The yard is beautiful and the proximity to town, the bus stop, and the Causeway made it an ideal home base for us on our daily adventures in the park. We truly felt like welcome guests and hope to return again soon. Very clean and peaceful. Many thanks to Ken and Adair!

This was our third stay at the Knowlette and it is still perfect! The location can’t be beat - tucked in the woods and just a short walk to town- the magical Causeway, two great lobster pounds , Flying Mountain and Valley Cove. The cottage is incredibly well equipped- the beds are comfy and the place is spotless. We finally met Ken- the owner who lives in “the big house” next door He is just as kind in person as he has been to communicate with through email. His niece Adair has taken over the management of the property and she has been great to deal with as well. We love this little cottage and I’m sure we will return.

Location is quiet and not too far from Acadia National Park. We appreciated their friendliness and accommodation; the card was a nice personal touch! Kitchen contained all necessities for cooking, which was nice since we made almost all meals at the VRBO. Having a couch in the living space would have really improved our experience, with how much time we had to spend at the house with our toddler. There was also quite a bit of mold/mildew on the bathroom ceiling... which was acknowledged with a sign in the bathroom requesting the fan be run during showers. Our overall experience was good though, and we loved visiting the causeway just down the road!

This property was perfect for our girls trip. Love that this is in the quiet side of the island. Away from all the hustle and bustle. The girls loved the trails and I enjoyed the tranquility of the cabin and gorgeous wildlife. We took a whale watching tour. Was fortunate to locate a humpback whale while out there too. Definitely would recommend this property.

The Knollette was a great choice for us for a week at Acadia national park. The cottage itself was larger than expected and had most everything needed. The location was fantastic and we walked to Southwest Harbor and the Causeway multiple times. The cottage is also a brief 25-30 minutes from Acadia and Bar Harbor giving enough distance to get away from the bustle of the national park. Would highly recommend to any looking for a getaway to Mount Desert Island and Acadia.

We enjoyed our stay at The Knollette. The space was perfect for our family of 4. The location was great, very close to all the activities we wanted to do. If you stay here don't wait till day 3 to see the causeway like we did. Its beautiful, especially when the sun is setting. Also, this property was 10 minutes from our families favorite easy hike, Ship Harbor Trail. Adair and Ken are great hosts, very good comminication. They also provided our family with tips on what we needed to bring, as the weather was a little chilly. Our week at the cabin was so special and filled with family memories.

We loved this home. It is in a beautiful location on the “quiet side” of Mt Desert Island where Acadia NP is located. We loved walking to the causeway each day and through the small village of Southwest Harbor. Just a perfect relaxing place !

Perfect location for a week of exploring Mount Desert Island. Quiet, but a short walk to Southwest Harbor. Fully equipped kitchen for cooking. Also had great meals at Hearth and Harbor, Red Sky, Little Notch Bakery, and MDI Lobster & BBQ.

We enjoyed the location which was woodsy but right in town. Wildlife all around. The property manager greeted us when we arrived and offered information about the house, things to see etc. amenities were good, the beds were very firm which is the only complaint. We were able to go all the way up and down the coast and had a wonderful time.

We loved the location of this cabin! It’s located on a private drive on the quiet side of the island and is just a 5 min walk to the nearby causeway, which was perfect for morning and evening water views! It was also just a 10-15 min walk to town for dinner and shop. We even saw deer almost every day in the backyard and even saw a coyote twice.

The cottage is very clean, is in a quiet neighborhood and a wonderful place to stay for up to four people. My wife has a severe case of arachnophobia and was very happy with the rental. Ken and Adair are wonderful hosts. If we ever stay in SOuthwest HArbor again we will be staying at the Knowellette.

Cute and comfortable cabin. Very quiet and peaceful. Great location to really explore and enjoy the island. Great bonus to be able to walk to the causeway and water several times daily. Nice to stay on the "quiet side" of the island. The hosts were very responsive and friendly. Everything you need is there.

Cozy cabin
The listing is very accurate. It’s nestled in the woods, very quiet but close enough to walk to southwest harbor. The causeway at the end of the road is an added attraction. I’m partial to water views but I knew it did not have one. The price for the rental is extremely reasonable and thus makes visiting acadia affordable. Much appreciated!! I would only suggest that it would be nice to have a couch in the living room. The four chairs were comfortable but it was odd not to have a couch. All in all we loved our stay there and would go back again any time!!

This property is well-loved, in an amazing location & had everything we needed! A short walk to the causeway in one direction and a short walk to the Southwest Harbor town dock in the other direction… also can walk to the restaurants & stores in SWH town. We enjoyed the view of lupine and wildlife from the numerous windows. We all loved this space and would stay here again!

Great stay!
This cottage was a really nice place to stay for visiting Acadia National Park. Quiet location in Southwest Harbor. A walk into town, Flying Mountain hiking trail area and to the ocean causeway.
The cottage was clean and comfortable for our week stay and had everything we needed. The kitchen was great for cooking meals.
The owners kindly let us park our bikes out of the rain.
We would love to come back. Jenny

The Knollette was relaxing and simple. We felt relaxed and didn’t feel the hustle and bustle. The causeway is enough to rent the Knollette. So pretty.
