About this cottage rental
When you arrive at this quaint cottage, you will have found peace and tranquillity just minutes away from activities and entertainment. From every window (and the deck) you will view dense forest - with not a neighbor in sight.
'Gingerbread Cottage' is ideally located on a hill just one and a half miles above the village of Fish Creek. Within minutes you can be at the waterfront, Peninsula State Park, Drive-In theater, Peninsula Players theater in the garden, restaurants and shops.
Inside the cottage you will find plenty of space for a large family or a get-together with friends. Two upstairs bedrooms share a bath and sleep six with two sets of bunk beds and two more twin beds.
The first floor bedroom has a queen bed and adjacent bath. The greatroom has a wood burning fireplace and a dining area adjoining a fully equipped kitchen. A wrap-around deck gets plenty of sun amidst the dense foliage.

We wanted to love this place and initially we did. But I got a very disturbing call from the owner accusing me falsely of having more guests than we booked. He didn't even ask how many people were there; he simply accused me and asked how I planned to pay for the extra guests. I didn't know what he was talking about.
I had initially booked a week for myself and two girlfriends, then modified the booking for my husband to come up with me four days earlier. After my girlfriends arrived (and my husband had left), I got that call. The owner insisted that we had 4 women there, not 3, with my husband still there. Untrue. He insisted he saw 4 women via his Ring Doorbell. He was wrong and I told him so. He said he knew what he saw and that we'd be charged. I told him to look at his camera footage again.
I expected to get a call back apologizing for his error. That never happened. To be accused of cheating him and then lying about it really soured our experience, which was unfortunate, because we would have returned next year had this not happened.
Except for that (a big minus), there's lots of pluses. It is lovely, well-equipped, with most everything you'd want, except for adequate lighting throughout the house (the only other BIG minus). Everything you need to cook meals, lots of spices, a grill, fire pit, indoor fireplace, big table, nice deck, comfortable furniture and beds, etc. Lots of dropped phone calls, tho, probably bc it is in a wooded area.

We stayed for two weeks. The cottage was clean inside and everything was provided as listed. Daryl was very helpful with our questions and needs. Internet was good. Everything worked in the kitchen and since we cooked and grilled the full size fridge was great. Loved the fire pit! Great location. Parking was plentiful for us and for a few days when our adult children came to join us. It was a great place. Thanks Dary!!

This was the perfect location for the guys to stay for. 4 day getaway and hit the local golf courses. Great distance to all courses and in town venues.

Very quiet secluded location. Some unusual electrical wiring - you plug in or unplug some of the ceiling fixtures to turn them on or off. The house had a stale smell we were able to overcome with use of Febreeze spray for the soft surfaces. Stove worked great! Refrigerator worked great. We had no need for air conditioner or heat because of the weather. Everything was clean, but we still took the owner's recommendation to bleach eating ware and utensils. One of the bathroom light fixtures wasn't working, nor was the upstairs bathroom vent.

Enjoyed our stay. Property was what we expected and fit our budget. Being in the woods and paneled interior makes it a little dark but the appliances were great. A few updates might enhance the property but being pet friendly and reasonably priced were a good fit for us.

Tucked away in the woods with lots of privacy, yet close to Fish Creek and all that Door County has to offer. Make sure to bring mosquito spray. The cottage was very cozy and comfortable. Had a wonderful time.

Cute little house, perfect size for myself and my adult sons. Super close to everything yet we could come back at night to hunker down and shut out the world. The place was well stocked with common kitchen items.

Third stay at this property. Noted some upgrades made, which were appreciated. Again, we needed to clean out wood stove prior to use. Otherwise, interior clean. Soap dispensers apparently topped off with water to fill, so when used, you basically got a squirt of water. Exterior of home, wood deck specifically, needs work. However, all in all, we again enjoyed our stay and would happily return to this property.

Cute cottage in the woods. We enjoyed the privacy and close location to Fish Creek and the surrounding Door County towns. Very comfortable and cozy place to stay. Everything we needed while we were there was provided. Owners were responsive and easy to work with. We would definitely return!

Peaceful and quiet cabin located in a great location, easily accessible to all Door County has to offer. Easy check-in and check-out. Owner alerted us to issues with wi-fi upon check-in; says it was going in and out. We found it was mostly out, which was a bit frustrating. Another minor complaint was there were a few odd odors (perhaps just from age of cabin? but also an unpleasant sewage smell in bathroom), but nothing that ruined our stay. Appreciated the stocked kitchen and helpful notes throughout the home. Cozy living space and adorable upstairs bedrooms; my younger son wanted to move in!

Nice place, quiet,…wood stover in living room “IFFY” and no wood inside,,,comfy place,…no towels provided kinda odd…electricity went out 7 AM on depart date…..called cell of owner..twice , no response… called ele co and reported outage… finally back on , but only enough time to clean and leave…unable to have bkfst in morn or relax..not owners fault, but a return phone call would have been nice

This cute cabin was in an awesome location, with the amenities we needed. Loved the surrounding woods & fire pit. It was a great home base to use for travel across the peninsula. Would book again!

We really liked this little cottage, we had a great stay. The owners were quick to respond when needed. The cottage has a nice king bed and was well stocked in the kitchen with spices and dishes/cooking utensils. We didn’t use the upstairs bedrooms but they looked nice and all had TVs. Thanks!

Comfortable and very casual. Away from the crowds of tourists, but just a short drive to points of interest, shopping, restaurants. Good location to travel up or down the peninsula and across. We enjoyed daily breakfast at the cottage and a light dinner in the evening, by grilling burgers etc.

This was a great cabin for my first visit to Door County. It's perfectly located between Egg Harbor and Fish Creek and there's a ton of wineries and shops in a short driving distance. We didn't use the upstairs bedrooms, but they looked nice. The living room/dining room area was pleasant. I think it would be a bit small for a larger group, though.
The bed in the master room was extremely comfortable and aside from some clunking at night from, I think, the water heater, it was nice, quiet, and dark.
The kitchen was well stocked with dishware and spices, though the cookware was pretty old... the pans are all Teflon/nonstick and we're really scratched up. I didn't love using those, but it wasn't a huge deal. The kitchen ware all needed to be washed, though. Plates had some residue and we had to scrub one of the spatulas clean before we could use it. I'm guessing this was purely from previous guests, so I'm not really holding it against the hosts (and there is a sign reminding you to wash utensils!).
The cabin is located in a little loop off hwy 42. That loop is a nice little walk, but 42 isn't fun to walk or bike next to, so if you're hoping to bike from the cabin to fish creek, it's not ideal for that. If it weren't for this, we'd definitely rent this cabin again! Next time we visit, we'll be looking for a spot we can bike from!

We loved the cottage in Fish Creek! We stayed for a week and the location was perfect for our daily adventures. The cottage has a great fire pit and back deck area to relax in privacy. There is a king bed in the master bedroom which was pretty comfortable. The inside is very clean and there is a lot of space. We booked the cottage for next year for a week already also! We can’t wait for our 2024 trip!

This is the 2nd year staying at this cottage and we loved it! All the amenities provided and comforts of home.Beautiful wooded location and peaceful. We love the back deck and patio with wood provided for our campfires. The hosts were communicative and accommodating. We can’t wait to stay again next year.

We stayed here for our family vacation. It was my husband, my 23-year-old son, his best friend and myself. It was great that my husband and I had to downstairs area and the kids were upstairs. It was perfect. The kitchen is fully stocked. We love the outdoor fire ring. It was really a beautiful location and a great value for the price

we enjoyed our stay very much; we felt far away from it all with the house being surrounded by trees and nature, yet very close to the main highway to get to the towns to enjoy various parts of the peninsula.
we used all 3 bedrooms, the fire pit and the kitchen, which was stocked with the necessities, during our stay.

Great location in a peaceful setting. The Gingerbread Cottage is comfortable and convenient location. The neighborhood road was quiet and easily able to walk my dogs. We saw a fawn walk through the backyard and it was enjoyable watching it. I highly recommended staying here. I hope to come again next year.

great location with easy access to penn players theater, egg harbor and fish creek. cabin was very clean and provided plenty of space although the upper level was difficult to keep cool even with a/c on. overall a great stay and we would definitely look to book again if in the area!

Everything is exactly as stated. Wood paneling makes it feel a little dark and dated but the house was perfect for our needs. Lovely patio in secluded woods. Conveniently located right off main highway. King bed in master is comfortable. Twin beds in upstairs bedroom were tolerable. Mattresses on bunk beds appeared thin and uncomfortable but no one slept there to report on this. Must bring your own towels snd this was not stated anywhere in check in email. Wi fi password had no spaces, even though it was listed as spaces. Plenty of pans in cupboards Even some spices. Big refrigerator. Kitchen is small. We never even tried to turn on the TV
As an FYI I had no bars on cell phone to make a call. Had to go into town (I have Xfinity mobile) to call host once. Number listed is a land line so i couldn't text him.

We enjoyed the cabin very much. Master bedroom downstairs, full kitchen with supplies , nice family room and dining table , room surrounded by windows, looking at back porch, fire pit, and woods, new gas grill. Wifi and tv all worked great. Location was perfect, just a mile or so out of Fish Creek. 2 bedrooms and bath upstairs that we did not use.
