I visited the Belfast Cottage with my 15 year old son as a fun father/son getaway trip over the summer. Overall this is a very cute house, the hosts are lovely, and it's very clean and well maintained. That being said, we had two issues with the property, which are more of a personal preference than a complaint.
First, the listing said the house had air conditioning, but in reality, it had a single window unit in a small room off the main bedroom. We were there during one of the hottest weeks of the summer and it simply wasn't enough to cool anything besides the one bedroom. It took hours for the house to cool down to a comfortable sleeping level at night, so if you intended to use more than one bedroom, check the weather and make sure its not going to be too hot when you are there.
Secondly, I have stayed at enough VRBO properties to know there are two types, those that are investment properties, and those that are the owners personal use properties that they rent out from time to time. This is definitely the latter, with everything from the owners' clothes and food to family photos and personal belongings at every turn. Some people may not be bothered by this, but when I stay at these types of properties, I always feel like I am invading the owners' personal space, and it's uncomfortable. I know it's a personal preference, but houses that are owned to be full-time rentals feel far more comfortable to me. Again, not a complaint, just a personal preference.

Absolute gem in Belfast! Great views, great location to walk to town and the waterfront. The cottage had everything we needed and the owners were so great with communicating and reached out multiple times to make sure we were all good! Without a doubt I would stay here again!

This property is located on the bay and the view is wonderful. It's a cute, funky place with plenty of room to spread out. The living room is comfortable and the kitchen is well stocked. Our hosts were helpful and communication was easy. Downtown Belfast is within walking distance along with a small grocery market. We really enjoyed our stay. One thing to note, though, is that this would not be a good option for anyone with mobility issues. There are no beds on the main floor and access to 3 upstairs beds is via a tight spiral staircase. It was difficult for 3 older women to get large luggage up those stairs. The other bed is downstairs via an easier staircase. All in all, though, we enjoyed our stay.

Magical home that checked all of our boxes. Great views, walkable and relaxing vibe. Our only regret was not having more time to spend here. It's close to Acadia as well.

Great location. Walking and biking paths nearby. Short walk into town yet very quiet. The house itself is a charmer that grows on you with time as you discover new personal touches. There are beautiful views from each floor. We often sat out on the main floor balcony, looking out upon a picturesque view of the Bay. Plenty of closet space and a better than expected stocked kitchen. The hosts are attentive and helpful. Others have commented on the spiral stairs and, indeed, at first it is a challenge. The single bathroom is on the only floor without a bedroom necessitating some negotiating of stairs in the middle of the night regardless of where you sleep. However, with some care, that can be overcome. We did and we are both older adults. The shower is a tight squeeze. We enjoyed our stay and recommend it for couples or families without very young children.

Kelly and Jack’s cottage is quite adorable. It is whimsical and quaint with lots of homey touches. The cottage is clean and well stocked. The view is lovely. There is a bay view from both decks and patio. What a peaceful and serene spot! Sunrise and coffee in the morning from the lower deck. That was actually our favorite spot. Beautiful sitting on the deck in the evening sipping wine. Kelly is wonderfully attentive and easy to communicate with. Town is less than a half mile walk away. The cottage is a tranquil and relaxing space. I highly recommend a vacation there.

The cottage was perfect for our 4 night stay in Belfast. It had everything we needed, from kitchen supplies to linens, and was perfectly located close to town and a beach. The views were excellent from multiple balconies and decks. We loved the sunrise on our last morning. We would definitely stay here again.

Kelly’s property was absolutely perfect! The sunrise and breeze off the ocean were beautiful! The master bedroom had the most comfortable bed. The house had everything we needed. The walk to town was quick and peaceful. We went several times. The whole town was welcoming and friendly. The food was amazing. Loved our whole experience!!

Ive had stays that weren't "as advertised" or where communication with the owner was a struggle. This experience was flawless from the beginning. Kelly is responsive, thorough and kind. I thought living without a television for 11 days was going to be a challenge - but I have to tell you that we hardly noticed one bit. Not to mention that the break was kind of nice. There is so much to do and see just steps away from the house - who needs to sit inside and look at a screen?
The town is charming, the fresh food nearby is fantastic and the people are warm and welcoming. We had our teen aged daughter with us and even she loved the slower paced lifestyle of walking to the coffee shop each afternoon and searching the beach each day for shells. Belfast is centrally located - so if you are wanting to explore there are so many towns up and down the coast (within 20-30) either direction to explore. We were never bored, there was plenty to see, and very easy to get to.
The kayaks that Kelly and John provide are a pure gift. The beach access is a quick and easy 5 minute walk - and push off from the shore is smooth and easy. Early morning on the water is something I miss already.
I would choose this house again - 100 times over!
The neighborhood, the views, the owners, cannot be beat.

We met with our adult children and stayed 12 days at the property. We really liked the unique house and location and the views from the balconies. The only inconvenience- mentioned in the listing- is the only (very small) bathroom and very small shower on the main level. A huge disappointment to us was that only one Kajak was available, we were told when we were already there that the other one "had gone missing" . One of the reasons we had chosen the property was because they had two Kajaks onsite. It would have been nice to know before arrival and/or to arrange for replacement.
The rest of the communication was prompt and all other descriptions accurate. A nice touch was a welcome basket with some goodies.

I loved this spot. It was close enough to town to enjoy all that Belfast has to offer. The owner was present for any question I might have. It was more than I needed in a house but still felt cozy, I especially enjoyed 4 different outdoor spaces from which to enjoy the view and the weather.

We loved our stay at this eclectic cottage. Everything was neat and clean. The owner was great to communicate with and made sure everything was going well for us. The location was superb as we could sit on the decks or in the living room and look out over the bay. It was on a quiet street just a short walk to explore the beach and a few minutes from the friendly town of Belfast.

Cottage is very well located, sea view, lovely neighborhood and an easy walk to town. Clean and well stocked. Owner very responsive. Narrow spiral staircase to bedroom but owner made that clear, so we were prepared. We would stay there again!

The house is walking distance to the shore and downtown. Plan to visit the Saturday farmers market where you can pick up wonderful crafts, breakfast ingredients and fresh seafood for dinner. With the well-stocked kitchen, cooking is a delight. The community is so friendly and welcoming. We had a wonderful stay.

We enjoyed our three nights in early June. The cottage is located within easy walking of town in a lovely, quiet neighborhood with many beautiful gardens. The stroll to the beach is even closer. Nice views can be had from the LR, upper bedroom, and decks. The spiral stairs are very narrow (I have spiral stairs) and could be difficult for some. We didn't cook in, but the super cute kitchen seemed well equipped (no microwave if you care) as was everything else. We didn't see an eagle, but enjoyed lots of birds at the feeders.

My wife and I enjoyed 5 nights here as a break from life in Seattle and a much needed visit with our son and his family, whom live nearby. We had nice morning walks and a Saturday visit to the farmers market just a few blocks away. Had a nice Saturday breakfast at Crumbs before the market opened and had the place to ourselves. Kelly said that the previous owners were artists and this was apparent in the lively color choices and funky faux finishes throughout. I particularly liked the many small lamps placed throughout the house which made the interior lighting options inviting and intimate. We loved the streaming morning sun from the East across Penobscot Bay as it warmed us in the early hours of the day. Overall, we had a very pleasant stay and felt welcomed by our hosts Kelly and Jack.

We had a lovely time here for our relaxing girls' trip. We spent a large amount of time just catching up and looking out at the view, which was so peaceful and serene. The cottage itself is a bit quirky and but totally charming. We had everything we needed and Kelly was responsive to questions and gave us some good tips about the area. Highly recommend for the view, the town, and the gracious hosts!

This property was an amazing location with a short walk to town and pebble beach. We walked into town many times to enjoy the town, shops, Food Coop, restaurants, food trucks, ice cream and more! The property is also a great location for a home base for exploring outside of Belfast too with many towns to explore within an hour and about an hour or so drive from Acadia which makes it an easy day trip. The views from the property are amazing and we really enjoyed sitting on the balconies. The home was cozy and charming and we really enjoyed our stay. The Owner was extremely welcoming and responsive to any questions we had and provided an amazing stay for us to enjoy our trip to Maine.

This home is ideal for those who want a 'base' from which to explore Maine. We walked to town several times enjoying the local shops and restaurants, drove to nearby towns to see more sights, visited Acadia for the day and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The home was cozy and charming; a great place to return to after a day of adventuring!

A lot of quirky charm, and you are in no doubt that this is also a family home, albeit second home.We didn't use that much of the house itself, being just the two of us, so plenty of room. The views are great from several rooms, including the "tower" room. I was concerned about there being a kerosene heater, but it worked very well and no smells. Very close to town, and shops. My wife was raving about the Co-op. I liked the Marshall Wharf Brewing Co. We used the first floor bedroom and my wife wasn't thrilled about navigating the spiral staircase to the one bathroom on the main floor at night. Sometimes charming comes with quirky, so it was fine for a few days. Kelly was very responsive to any questions by text or phone, and we even got to meet the very nice neighbors.

Kelly was a fantastic, responsive host, and the property was all we could have ever asked for. There is plenty of space, and it was a convenient midpoint for us between Portland and Acadia. The property was clean and we basically felt like we were at home, with lots of convenient amenities as well. I would absolutely stay there a second time if I visit again!

Such a cozy, comfortable, and relaxing spot! Ocean views from three porches, comfy bed, everything you need for a restful getaway. The neighborhood is quiet, and it's just a short walk to Belfast, a super cute town along Maine's coast. Don't miss Must Be Nice Lobster along the Harbor Walk for the best lobster rolls!
