About this apartment rental
Hermanor Cottage was built in the 1830's and is a fine example of New Orleans Creole architecture. A beautiful, spacious front porch added in the early 1900's is both a welcoming feature and a wonderful place to sit with a cool drink and watch the quaint neighborhood go by. The location of Hermanor Cottage is both convenient and a bit off the beaten path. We are a few short blocks from the superb music, food and fun on FRENCHMEN STREET and only slightly further from the world-renowned FRENCH QUARTER. If you choose to arrive by car there is adequate parking on the street. The streetcar is close by and UBER arrives very quickly.
Our cottage apartment is professionally decorated in the traditional New Orleans style with original art and vintage pieces. The living room is charming and comfortable with a full size click clack sofa bed and a 40' HD TV. The front room is furnished with a vintage oak table that can serve as a desk or a dining spot. The fully furnished ,spacious kitchen has been recently renovated and has all new SS appliances. A round table seats 2 and a decorative fireplace add lots of quaint charm. Pick up some groceries at the nearby full grocery store and easily prepare a dinner at home. A beautiful new food hall is just a few blocks away for eat in or take out ethnic food choices.
Our unique Marigny (pronounced Mare-i-nee) neighborhood has much to offer. Some of our favorite places are MIMI'S IN THE MARIGNY for great craft drinks and tapas, THE FRANKLIN for fine bistro fare, the newly renovated HOTEL PETER AND PAUL for romantic drinks and dining and RUBY SLIPPER for fabulous breakfasts. And did I mention the James Beard award winning restaurant THE AMERICAN BISTRO.All are just a block or two from the cottage. Several venues for live music are close by on the newly developed ST. CLAUDE corridor and include ALLWAYS LOUNGE, CAFE ISTANBUL, and SIBERIA.
My husband is a concierge and tour reservationist. We live right next door and are always available for fun, creative activity suggestions, restaurant recommendations and general hospitality. We guarantee a good time will be had by all at Hermanor Cottage! New Orleans Short Term Rental Permit #20-RSTR-32600, #21-OSTR-21677 ( 2023 )

Sarah and Tom’s cottage is even better than pictured!, Wonderfully comfortable and very quiet while being within easy walking distance of the French Market and the French Quarter. They were the perfect hosts. They responded quickly to questions, helped with arranging tours and made us feel at home.
We would highly recommend staying at the Upscale Cottage and hope we can return someday!!

This is the cutest place in a nice neighborhood within walking distance to many of the things we wanted to see--the host was amazing and very thoughtful and helpful. This was my first foray into Vrbo, and I would stay here again in a heartbeat, and I'd highly recommend it for anyone else.

My husband and I went to New Orleans to attend a wedding and stayed at this lovely cottage. Our host, Sara, was so welcoming and helpful. The cottage is a perfect place to stay, beautifully decorated, cozy, and super clean. The location is in a quiet, charming neighborhood and is an easy walking distance to the French Quarter and several great restaurants. I highly recommend staying here.

There is so much I want to say. First, this home is even more beautiful than the pictures. Every amenity was available. There was plenty of free parking. The shared courtyard was amazing. Very peaceful, private and quiet. This space was perfect for the two of us. The hosts were accommodating, helpful and unobtrusive. They were simply lovely. Do not pass this up!

This is a truly great place and neighborhood to stay in. And the owners show a lot of pride and attentiveness. We did not have lack or need for any amenity that was not provided. Too bad the weather was a bit chilly, otherwise the fantastic backyard would have been a great place to enjoy while having a glass of wine.

Wow! This property is amazing! It is exactly what my husband and I were looking for when we booked. The check-in process was easy. The cottage was clean, spacious, and cozy. Sara even had a Christmas tree set up in the front room! The neighborhood is walkable, safe, and has plenty of bars and restaurants. There is a supermarket nearby where we purchased some items to cook at the cottage since there is a full kitchen within the unit. Additionally, the backyard patio space is awesome! I sat outside each morning and enjoyed the plants, water feature, and some coffee/pre-game beverages. If we ever return to New Orleans, I would definitely stay here again.

The historic cottage was perfect for visiting New Orleans to experience the neighbourhood, local feel! It was well equipped, very clean, beautifully furnished to match the historic New Orleans feel! The special treat was the amazing courtyard, a special place with a peaceful feel! Sara and Tom were very helpful with local information and right next door to answer any questions. We will definitely be back!

Sara and Tom have furnished and decorated a lovely traditional New Orleans "shotgun" flat. Beautifully equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable stay; close enough to the French Quarter and WWII museum to be convenient (a $7 uber ride in most cases) but a quiet neighborhood so none of the craziness. Our hosts and neighbors were very friendly and we found welcoming neighborhood eateries in walking distance, although we could have cooked for ourselves in the fully equipped kitchen. Just terrific.

Sara has this adorable shotgun set up so perfectly. Everything you need at your fingertips! Beautiful courtyard and fantastic location that is totally walkable to the French Quarter, Jackson Square, and all of the historical locations! If I could give a 20 star rating I would! Close to excellent restaurants and a grocery store! We loved our stay!! She has excellent bedding and really nice bath towels too!!

Can't say enough about our stay! Our "house"--a Creole shotgun house-- was beautiful!!! Very nicely decorated with lovely art. Nice courtyard in back although we really didn't use it because we were never there! Easy walk to the French Quarter and Mississippi River. Frenchman Street nearby. Super quiet neighborhood with narrow one way streets; trees, potted plants and Halloween decorations. Little cafes and restaurants nearby. Sara and her husband were very helpful and great hosts. We enjoyed our stay immensely!

The location of this property couldn't be better and the people of this neighbor hood are very friendly. The cottage was perfect, clean, uncluttered and comfortable. Enjoyed having coffee on the front porch in the morning and wine in the courtyard in the evening. The host are wonderful and very knowledgeable about New Orleans. If we go back to New Orleans we will definitely stay here again.
Don't forget to visit the Bakery on the corner of Dauphine and Frenchman, the French pastry is amazing!
THANK YOU FOR A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE!

We loved every detail of this rental. We were personally met by Sara when we arrived and she showed us around and made sure we had everything we might need. The home is beautiful and decorated with incredible care and taste. There were many personal touches to enhance our comfort; thick towels, comfortable bedding and relaxing outdoor spaces to enjoy. And absolutely spotless! We will definitely return.

This roomy shotgun in the Marigny is extremely well appointed, handsomely decorated and exudes tons of NOLA flavor.
Cool and comfortable, it's a perfect sanctuary from the heat and craziness of the Quarter.
Sara is a great host and very responsive.
An authentic New Orleans experience and a real find!

We loved our stay! The property is even more lovely than the posting and my wife took lots of interior pictures to take home and copy their style. Sara was very quick to respond to any questions we had but also respected our privacy. There’s a great coffee shop and grocery store close by and the location is great for enjoying the music spots on Frenchman St. We did lots of walking! We will definitely be back - enjoy!

This was our 1st time visiting New Orleans and just love staying here. We were so excited to stay in this historic home and it did not disappoint. Everything about this rental was just perfect! Photos are 100% accurate. We enjoyed morning coffee in the quiet back courtyard with the fountain. Having been to NOLA several times in the past, it was fun and interesting to experience and learn about the Marigney area of the city. Would definitely stay here again. Thanks Sara and Tom!

We stayed here for just over 3 weeks and loved it. The house is very clean and well maintained. The kitchen is well equipped and we really appreciated having our own laundry facilities. Sara and Tom, the owners, live next door and are very friendly and helpful. We loved the location as there are a number of excellent restaurants nearby plus it’s a short walk to Frenchmen St and the French Quarter.
We spent many happy hours on the front porch with a cup of morning coffee or an evening glass of wine. The patio at the back is also delightful. We had a wonderful relaxing stay here and I can highly recommend it. We will definitely be returning.

The location I couldn't say enough good things about. 10 to 15 minutes to Frenchman and Jackson Square. The neighborhood was a wonderful walking area with cafes, bars, and restaurants. Groceries within walking as well.
The house was better than the pictures. Very clean, great owners right next door, quiet, stocked with paper goods and cleaning items, decorated beautifully, and the garden out back simply beautiful.
We have stayed in many rentals for vacations and this is definitely one of our top two. If I get the pleasure of going back to NOLA I will stay here again. AND totally recommend to friends/family!

We loved our visit The property was perfect for an extended stay. The living space cozy, the bed was comfortable with access to a beautiful and relaxing backyard oasis. We spent many afternoons relaxing with a book or glass of wine after a day of exploration. Sara was very responsive and helpful on where to shop and answered any questions we had about local restaurants, etc. If you want an immersive experience that isn’t wrapped up in the tourist scene, then this is the perfect location. The neighborhood is wonderfully eclectic with great coffee, brunch spots, bars and restaurants that seem more neighborly. If you want the French Quarter experience, it’s a 15 minute walk away. Crescent Park is also a short walk along the Mississippi. We’d love to return!!!

I can’t overstate how perfect this Vrbo was for our New Orleans stay. I’ve stayed in 10+ rentals and hotels in the city and this is now #1. Sara communicates just the right amount. Not too much and not too little. The place was clean and tidy, but decorated with amazing New Orleans decor - items a local would decorate with and not touristy. It’s good to know this sport Is located in Marginy, which is walkable to Frenchmen street, but not French quarter.
Street parking available, which was one less expense, because parking at a hotel was outrageous.
The place is completely stocked with items you would need - towels, toiletries, blankets, pillows, pots, pans, utensils. I mean everything.
A+ stay!

Sara and her husband were kind and great communicators. This area is perfect for a genuine experience walking distance to Frenchman St. or the quarter. Great Cafe 2 blocks away. The bed was comfy, the back yard was an oasis. Will stay here again next trip! Thanks Sara!

If I use too many superlatives, you won't believe me, but this is the VRBO property all others should be based on. Its location is ideal: a short walk to the French Quarter and Frenchmen Street, yet in a charming neighborhood with its own restaurants galore. The unit is exquisite. The title of the property is spot on, it's clear the hosts paid a great deal of attention setting the house up beautifully, and the courtyard in back is a slice of Heaven. Lastly, the hosts themselves were warm, inviting and had lots of great suggestions, and yet never once intruded on our privacy. In short, the perfect hosts for the perfect property! I can't recommend it highly enough.

I was in New Orleans for 3 weeks spending time with family and really enjoyed Sara's beautiful shotgun home.
Sara and her husband are a lovely couple, warm and friendly and very responsive. The home is well equipped with a very comfortable bed. The patio is amazing, if the weather had not been so hot I would have spent hours enjoying it.
The location in Marigny is perfect, walking distance from a grocery shop and restaurants and a park and Frenchmen Street, where there are a lot of bars with live music. A bit of a longer walk into the heart of the French Quarter but still easily doable. Marigny also feels very safe - it's my go to area to stay whenever I am in New Orleans.

Fantastic stay in a wonderful city
Sara is a fantastic host. The art filled “shotgun” house is a treasure. Every detail is taken care of and the home gives a fantastic art filled experience of every aspect of New Orleans. The location in the Marigny makes the famous French Quarter just a few short blocks away. Perfect stay in every way. Even our little cavapoo Betsy was spoiled here! Would love to visit again!
