About this house rental
Hale Wailele (Waterfall House) is a beautiful, spacious home with floor to ceiling windows in the great room looking out onto fountains in the pool with an incredible ocean view beyond the palm trees and torches. The architecture of the home makes it unique and inviting with artistic touches such as arches and cathedral ceilings throughout. Our home is in a quiet neighborhood where most people live with open windows. Therefore, we do not offer it for weddings, meetings, or parties. The use and enjoyment of the house, pool, etc. is limited to the individuals listed on the rental agreement. We will only confirm reservations that give details about the group, purpose of the trip, and reassurances about being respectful and keeping noise at normal conversation levels. Disruptive behavior and excessive noise are not permitted.
The master bedroom is furnished with a king bed, TV, garden tub with separate shower, Toto bidet commode, and infra-red sauna.
Bedroom two has a king and a queen bed, and full guest bath.
Bedroom three has a king bed, and sitting area and full guest bath
The den has a TV, recliner, and a pullout sofa. It opens to a side yard perfect for game of croquet or bocce. The den and bedroom three share the full guest bath.
The loft looks over the great room, has a computer desk, foosball table, 2 queen futons and 1 double futon.
The gourmet kitchen features stainless appliances and two adjoining dining areas. There are also two bar areas.
If you prefer to cook and dine on the lanai, we have a large stainless gas grill, and an Evo grill. There is plenty of seating at two lanai tables.
Tropical gardens surround the home on the spacious one acre lot. Outdoor enthusiasts will love the orchid garden, herb garden and extensive assortment of flowers and fruit trees including, papaya, lemon, lime. apple-banana, fig, and mango.
There are 3 smart-home features installed. 2 Nest doorbells, one at the front door and one at the side door (both facing parking areas); and a smart lock , that will be programmed with a code to unlock the door, for your convenience.
Also a quick note about our animal friends :)
Geckos: Because of the tropical climate and vegetation in Hawaii you are likely to see our friends the geckos. They are a beautiful bright green with a few magenta spots. They have no teeth, are harmless, and considered good luck on the islands because they eat harmful insects. They are most easily spotted outside by lights waiting for dinner, but can fit through the smallest openings and are sometimes seen inside as well. If you see one inside and prefer not to have its company, please just toss a hand towel over it and release it into the gardens.
Birds: There are many birds around the house and throughout the neighborhood including Brazilian cardinals, finches, doves, exotic pheasants, chickens, and others. While they are fabulous to watch and a favorite part of the tropics, they can also be noisy for light sleepers. We recommend adding a sleep app to any smart phone or bringing earplugs if you think you might be bothered.

This was our once in a lifetime gift to our kids and grandkids. We could not have been more pleased with our stay. The property is a gem, and the other reviews are very accurate. The outdoor shower was a big hit with everyone. We had to pick a number each night to see what the order was. The outdoor space with the pool and the view were spectacular. It's a million-dollar view as you see in the pictures. Alanya was very helpful and if you had a question, she was very prompt with a response. The caretakers are right up the hill. If you have a problem, it gets resolved pronto and are a very pleasant couple. This house by far was the most well-equipped rental we have ever been in (34 rentals). I could go on about the evo grill and all the little things that made this rental memorable, but the review would be too long. I will leave you with this. This is the only rental we would do again.

We came to Kona to celebrate our parents 50th wedding anniversary and this house was the icing on the cake. Incredible views from pretty much every room in the house. The property was well maintained and had a secluded feel to it. The outdoor shower by the Lanai is one of the most refreshing feelings in the world. The house is up the hill, so it gets a wonderful breeze most of the day and is a few degrees cooler than downtown Kona. It's centrally located, so you're a short drive from shops, stores, beaches, and restaurants. The welcome book has a lot of great ideas for activities and all the beach equipment you could need is provided. Very nice kitchen inside the house and clean gas grill and flattop outside. The caretakers are very friendly and approachable, but have great boundaries. They live in a house on the other side of the property and you won't even know they're there unless you need them. The only thing disappointing about this house is saying goodbye when your trip ends. We traveled with age ranges of 10-73 and everyone had a wonderful time. Thanks for sharing your slice of paradise with us.

We had such a wonderful stay in this beautiful house in the hills behind Kona over the New Year. The property is gorgeous, spacious, and clean, with heavenly views of the coast and ocean. The pool and jacuzzi are perfect, and most of all, the owners (remote) and hosts (on-site, just behind the property) were kind, warm and responsive. They showed us the fruit trees on property, let our kids help pick fresh bananas, and took care of every detail. A very special place—we will be back!

Came with friends to do the IM World Championships! The house is in a great location for easy access to the race venue. It is on a quiet hillside with beautiful views and a wonderful breeze all day! This was a great home and the views were amazing! Nothing like sitting outside and watching the sunset every night. Our family really enjoyed our stay. The hosts communication was great. We spent the mornings outside relaxing and listening to the birds. The neighborhood was quiet and safe so you got to hear the natural sounds of nature around you. What a relaxing place. The house was stocked with everything you need, probably the best we have had in any VRBO which was very nice. Great pans and dishware. We would definitely comeback!

The house was perfect, it was as wonderful as described on the Vrbo site. Our questions and requests were met as expected and we were very satisfied. They also tuned the piano. The photos do not do the house justice. It’s a real “wow” when you walk in and see the outdoor living space, the pool waterfall, and the view. The house is the best equipped one we’ve ever rented - every kitchen gadget, spices, cooking basics, paper towels, laundry necessities, beach chairs, etc. We cooked several meals easily. Great grill. The house is clearly lived in by the owners which made it cozy, comfortable and fully accessorized. Recommend without hesitation and will return.

We had such a wonderful week in Hawaii! The property has everything you need- huge kitchen, very comfortable beds, and the pool is spectacular. Evening sunsets in the hot tub were a favorite. and we loved the outdoor shower! The town of Kona was a quick 15 minute drive along with any grocery shopping needed to our evening meals. Owner was very responsive and the caretakers were available when you needed them (but otherwise stay to themselves)- and are lovely! We forgot something and they offered to drive it the the airport for us. I would love to stay here again!

A Dream
This is an amazing home to stay in! Beautiful, clean, organized, spacious, luxurious, the comforts of home and paradise wrapped into one! The owners and care takers are so kind and friendly, offered suggestions on the area, and are prompt to respond to questions. There was 6 of us staying here and we all had plenty of space to ourselves but the house offers so much to bring us together. We were in the pool everyday and unwound at night in the jacuzzi. The pool is very deep, which we loved! We grilled up family dinners outside and even borrowed some beach gear and a cooler that was provided for our adventures away from the house. They provide plenty of towels, cookware, some pantry staples like olive oil, vinegar, etc, there was even some fresh pineapple, cold beer waiting and music playing for us when we arrived. The owners have really taken the time and thought of everything you could possibly need to make your stay as comfortable and convenient as possible. I would absolutely love to stay here again and recommend this place HIGHLY to families vacationing together.

Our family group of seven adult family members used Kale Wailele as our home base as we explored the Big Island. The house is spacious, allowing plenty of room for us. The pool area is wonderful for relaxing, and is beautiful as are the grounds! The view is spectacular! The host was very gracious and beyond accommodating!

Spacious, Stunning views, large kitchen and lanai, lush landscaping, private, gorgeous pool and hot tub. The home is well equipped with everything!. What a wonderful vacation! After a few attempts to get the family together since Covid we were able to spend quality time with my mother, 78. (Thanks again Alanya!) We were busy exploring the island, enjoyed a helicopter ride, chartered boat, snorkel tour, zip lined, scuba. But my favorite part of this trip was going back to the house and watching the sunsets. This was the best experience for our friends and family. The home was impeccable and stocked with everything you could ever need. We are typically on the go when on vacation, but this time we chose to spend more time on the property. # GREAT LOCATION - we could readily drive to the town of Kailua-Kona and south Kona Beaches or to All the Beaches up North. Costco is just down the main street and airport too is a very short drive. Volcano National Park is similar driving distance via the south shore route or via Hilo.
# WONDEFUL HOST – Alanya was very friendly and courteous. She was prompt in communicating and very accommodating.
Her home is very welcoming and makes one feel like one’s own with comfortable rooms, nice living and dining area, a fully stocked kitchen, and all amenities. It is kind and generous of her to share it with guests and make them feel completely at home. The house is meticulous, well designed with lots of open space and very well maintained - our family enjoyed being at home just as much as our daily trips around the island. Outside patio with the hot tub and the pool are gorgeous and a great place to relax and enjoy the lovely weather with beautiful, expansive views of the ocean.
Our stay in this house made for a truly relaxing and memorable vacation for our extended family. Having stayed at similar vacation rental properties over the years, this one has been the best for above reasons and many more.

I was simply blown away!!
The home has everything you need. I made the mistake of going to the store 1st to buy everything I thought I needed. They already had alot of the things I needed. From cleaning supplies to sunscreen to the complimentary robes (to use while there) to the equipment for the beach...all you really need to do is unpack. I must admit that I was a little worried about the home not having a/c...but let me tell you...the house stayed cool. The home has the best views and the pictures of this home does it no justice!!

My party consisted of five females, of varying ages and from varied walks of life; and I cannot say enough about how we thoroughly and completely enjoyed every moment we had to spend in your beautiful home. From watching the beautiful sunset over the ocean to relaxing with a home cooked meal, everything we needed and then some was right at our fingertips.
The location was extremely convenient so that venturing out was done with ease. Yet, the best part was returning home to play in the pool and relax in the jacuzzi. Preparing meals was really fun and easy as the kitchen was magnificent and so very well supplied!
Thank you for sharing your extremely lovely home and for your kindness as our host! I do hope we get to enjoy the beauty of your home at least one more time as we hope to travel in the future!
