The world famous Beach Comber and Pennant bars are a 2 minute walk away and the beach and bay are even closer. It's a peninsula. You can't get further from the sand than 100 yards. There is no need to ever put on your shoes! You can see the famous Mission Beach Sunset every day and sometimes the famous Green Flash! Draft, Cannonball, and Sandbar all boast amazing food/drink/views just a 5 minute walk away in Belmont Park.
I'll be close by if you need anything at all. My wife and I like to grill in the downstairs patio so you might see us there every now and then.

Not all beach towns are created equally. South Mission Beach (S'Mish) is the best of the best. It's essentially San Diego's largest cul-de-sac. Why would you stay anywhere else? ;-)
The whole townhome is yours and comes with 3 balconies, and 1 large carport parking spot. We also have a small garage that you can store your beach toys and/or a motorcycle. FREE parking is available on the parking lot one block away for additional cars. Numerous beach chairs are included in the garage, and bikes are available inside a small gated outdoor storage on the side of the house.
The patio downstairs is a common area shared with owners, and guests are welcome to use the couch, tv, grills, and fire pit. Please please remember to clean and cover everything back up after you are done - the sun and salty air are really hard on those things lol. If you see us there, we enjoy chatting with our guests and sharing tips and recommendations! Cheers!
It is a one of a kind modern 1600 sq foot 3 bedroom, 3 bath, with a sleek style that you won't forget. It has 2 fireplaces (one in the bedroom) and 3 decks with ocean peeks and great views of the bay with the sailboat masts extending your daydreams. There are 6 skylights and lighted ceiling fans in every room.
Bedding: Master 1 - The "Sunrise Room" offers a very comfortable CA King-sized bed and fireplace and private balcony. If you leave the curtains open you will wake up with the sun rising right in front of you!
Master 2 - "The Sunset Room" - You can see the sunset from this room right in front of you and it has the largest private balcony in the house.
The 3rd bedroom is the Downstairs Bedroom and we call "The Celebrity Room" - Has a Queen sized bed and a lot of privacy. The couch in the living room turns into a queen-sized and can sleep 2 people as well. I also have an inflatable queen-sized mattress if you are traveling with family.
Reminder - 3 bathrooms means no fighting, Why squeeze 6-10 people into a 2 bathroom place? Remember last summer.
Mission Beach is close from the airport and downtown San Diego. If you are going to stay local the beach areas and downtown a Uber from the airport is the best solution. Bikes, and scooters are great way to explore around the beach area. Fun! It is south on the board walk from Pacific Beach (walk or bike easily), and an easy bike ride to Tourmaline, and Wind and Sea in La Jolla. 15 minutes Uber from downtown San Diego.

I took a family vacation for the Labor Day weekend which was also my daughters birthday. The house was clean, came with everything we needed. location was close to the beach, the owner was super helpful. We enjoyed our stay and will definitely stay again.

We enjoyed our stay and how close it is to the beach. The house is a great size. For others planning to stay note there is not a k cup coffee maker and the parking spot is really tight. The car I had was difficult to get into the spot so rent a small car otherwise you have to park on the street. We enjoyed the location and place. We would stay again and would recommend it.

Great stay; perfect amenities -- 3 bedroom and 3 bath makes it ideal for families (like ours). Great response by hosts to any questions that we had.
Location is perfect, 2 minute walk from the bay and perhaps 4 minutes to Mission Beach. Beach chairs/gear included with a wagon that was helpful to truck everything over.
Lots of bars, restaurants, coffee shops in the immediate vicinity as well as Mission Market (2 minute walk) that had all of the grocery/household needs during our trip. Belmont Park (5 minute-ish walk) added to the family fun. We didn't rent a car during this trip and didn't need one.
If we ever end up coming back to SD, wouldn't hesitate to request to stay here again. Thanks!

Justin and Jessica’s communication was fantastic throughout the stay! They were always quick to reply, helpful, and friendly. The house is much newer than most in Mission Beach and is really nicely appointed. Having three bathrooms was so convenient. Lots of beach supplies and both the beach and bay are a short walk. Want to stay again!

The house is spacious and comfortably furnished, but what made it really enjoyable for us is the proximity of the beach. The bay side is calm and is an excellent place for small children to play and the ocean side with the waves is just as close. We really appreciated the availability of a variety of “beach stuff”, including a tent for shade, a wagon for hauling things etc. Other San Diego attractions are also within easy reach

The place was perfect! The weather? Not so much. The beach house is located just a 2 minute walk from lifeguard tower 12 on mission beach. Everything is convenient from shopping down the boardwalk and a pizza joint with $3 slices right down the block! The house has two levels with balconies and windows that give a nice cool breeze for night sleeping. We used the outside barbecue which worked flawlessly for burger night. The patio furniture was comfortable and access to having beach toys available helped reduce purchasing those items. There are plenty of TV's for entertainment including one outside! The home was clean and we had everything needed to cook our meals there. In short: it was great and we'd stay again when the weather is warmer. 67 degrees is a little chili for beach enjoyment :)

Plenty of space and enough showers for everyone. Great location! Close to beaches and Belmont Park! Parking spot was perfect for our SUV.

We loved the fact that this place was close to the beach, and the bay. There was extra beach toys, a wagon and tent to use if you wanted. The overall space was good for 6 people (4 kids, 2 adults). The car port is kinda small, so if bringing a bigger vehicle it won’t really fit. The outside yard space is nice but it is shared with the other unit. The hosts live downstairs which we were not aware of (didn’t notice it in the description of the property before booking) there were times where we felt we couldn’t use the outside area because the host were using it. We also noticed the place needed a better cleaning before we arrived. It wasn’t terrible but a more detailed clean. There were closets we could not use because they were locked. There also were dirty mugs and utensils that we found upon inspection on our first night. It also was very humid in San Diego while we were there so we had to keep the balcony doors and windows open as soon as it started to cool outside due to it being very warm inside. The hosts were very nice and helpful if we needed it but we weren’t expecting them to be around and live right underneath or use the same areas while we were there. Overall, due to the closeness of the bay and beach, Belmont Park, and some eating places, I would consider it again but for the pricing, I would probably look elsewhere.

Family get together with 3 couples. This home was everything we wanted - well stocked kitchen for cooking, comfortable beds, nice layout, giving with each bedroom spaced for privacy. Close to the beach and walking distance to restaurants, bars, and activities. Communication from host prompt and friendly. Will definitely book again in the future!

We were attending our son's wedding and needed a place to stay close to the wedding venue. We chose this home because it was close and had enough rooms for me and my wife, our adult daughter, and my mom and dad. The pictures of the property sold us. They did not exactly match the actual property. There were broken cabinets, a broken dishwasher, a broken button for the sink's garbage disposal, and lights and fans that took an investigation to figure out how to turn them on and off. We had a hard time figuring out the television, but eventually we were able to watch the local news a few times. On a side note, this is not a property for someone with disabilities related to walking. My father has Parkinson's and a hard time walking. He was able to walk up the steps to the front door entrance on the second floor, laboriously. It was also a terrible parking situation. Unless you're driving a small sub-compact, or a golf cart, it is almost impossible to park and get out of the car. The construction across the walkway was going on all weekend, was a bit of bonus annoyance. It was loud and it would have been nice to know it was going on.

The location is convenient being close to Belmont Park and the beach. The unit itself could be nice but whoever is cleaning the property is not doing a very good job.

Those of us who aren’t great at using smart phones could use a written set of house rules. Jessica was very helpful and it was very well stocked with equipment and seasonings. We could have used a larger frying pan for our large family of 7.

Great stay in south Mission Beach! The property was well maintained and the owner was aware of and actively repairing furnishings that needed to be replaced (washer and kitchen table). I know rating inflation is a real thing, so won't dwell on it since my idea of a true 5 star place is not realistic (would have to be immaculate with everything new). With that in mind, 5 stars for a vacation rental means I'd stay there again with no reservations and I feel like the place was clean, well stocked, and well maintained. Ideal location just a block away from Belmont Park, and mere footsteps from either the ocean or bay. The owner was easy to contact and very responsive. Thank you for our stay!

We had a big group and this house was perfect for everyone! Would definitely stay here again. Close to both the beach and the bay. Cute front patio with a water spray to get sand off. There are a lot of stairs as an FYI. Might be hard with littles or older people. But otherwise very nice and would stay again.

Great property and location! Walking distance to the beach and bay and short drive to major sights. Justin & Jessica were super helpful and responsive to all our needs. We had a wonderful time! Highly recommend.

Great location/ owner too involved
The location was amazing so close to the beach! The outdoor area is really fun to hang out and relax.
My only issue was the owner lives in the house studio underneath the townhouse and I think it should be disclosed on the listing. As well as he was using the fire pit/outdoor amenities one night while we were staying and paying for the property. So it was pretty awkward to have that part where we felt like we couldn’t enjoy our time hanging out or utilizing the place fully because the owner was using it. Overall mixed feelings on the stay.

Great property and proximity to the beach
loved our stay! We came out for a week and the house was completely accommodating. Everything we needed was either available or within a block away. Communication with the owner throughout our stay for anything we had a question about was answered veryyy quickly and we couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. Highly recommend!!

We were so pleased with our stay here. The owner Bob was so accommodating in every way.-even checked in to see if we needed anything, The house comes with absolutely everything you could need. Beautiful inside, very clean, a ton of towels, kitchen essentials, bikes in the garage, etc. My family and I are already planning our next visit here. We wouldn’t hesitate renting from him again! Location was perfect! Awesome place to stay!
It was a great place to stay. Bob thought of so many little details that made the trip super convenient and fun. The shower outside before you come in from the beach was so helpful. It was nice not to worry about parking. Actually parking was a little tricky because of the angle but we were able to park one car in the garage and one in the carport. We loved the place and hope to return next year.

Charming place two blocks from the beach + bay
Our group loved our stay at Captain Bobby's. The house is spacious and fit 9 of us (with an additional air mattress). The first floor can feel a bit narrow but the kitchen was very well-equipped and we never felt boxed in. The upstairs bedrooms are lovely and the balconies on each are spectacular. The location was great for us (though a little far from some bars/restaurants on the north end of Mission beach) and gave easy access to the beach. Bob was a wonderful host too. He was easily accessible and accommodated each of our requests. Full recommend, thanks Bob!

Family stay
The unit was very nice and in a good location except that it was directly on the street and there was a lot of noise. Would have liked newer sheets and towels and locks on the upstair’s balconies. The unit was very clean and one block from the beach. We enjoyed our stay.

A big HIGH FIVE!!
Captain Bobs is very roomy. We brought our 6 grandkids from ages 4-12, to enjoy the beach and they did! Wish we had more time to hang out. Easy access to the beach. We were able to walk back and forth when needed.

Close to beach location
The condo is nice sized and about a block to either the Ocean side beach and the Bay side beach. The furnishings and kitchen items are tired and old. The beds need to be replaced. There is lots of deferred maintenance items, broken locks on sliding doors and windows, GFI in Master bedroom at vanities are not tripped but faulty, so no outlets work in that area. Only 1/2 the BBQ works, the list I sent while there had 9 items by the time we left there were 11 items noted. There are no brooms mops or even a kitchen towel, never stayed at a home with no broom. Yes there was a vacuum but it was hard to use up and down stairs. Most of the house is hardwood and tile so a simple broom would be so easy. The owner who is not on site and maybe not in the area was very responsive when I ask for at least a few garbage bags for the garbage (there we no extra provided) and for some dishwasher soap (there was none provided). The property manager came by that night. When these items were delivered by the property manager they brought us some beer and wine, which was a really nice gesture. I ended up buying kitchen dish towels, I left them for the next people. There were many issues at the house that need to be addressed and since the home is for sale I think they may find time to get them done. If you want a place near the beach in a very cool neighborhood with a small grocery store that has everything and a liquor store close this is for you. You can rents scooters and bikes if you want and the owner provided four we did not use. I provided the owner with a partial list of things that need attention. This was a mixed bag stay for us. I think if you just know coming in the issues it is easier to deal with. I believe the owner when he says he really wanted our stay to be a five star stay. We just could not give a five star rating on this home (the first time ever).

We had a wonderful time and the location was perfect
You supplied all we needed. The house was very clean and meet our needs
We did cook one nite and the only issue we had with cooking is the alarm went off continually. Also in the downstairs bath and the upstairs bathroom (the electric outlets did not work. It was no problem; just wanted to make you aware. Great weekend had my all

Time of our lives
We loved this beach house!!! We had an awsome time. Definitely will be back. Walking distance to everything. For the first time we rode the bikes on the beach and had a blast. Time of our lives and we come to this area several times a year but first time in a beach outside. Thank you Bob for everything ! You was great and quick responses...

Great location, great owner and plenty of room as advertised
First off the owner could not possibly be more responsive. Makes you comfortable before you even get there. During the trip either he or his manager were immediately available to answer questions or respond to any issues. The only issue we had was that due to holidays the garbage pick up was off and the manager actually came and took some away!
The unit is very spacious. We had 7 adults and two toddlers and never got in each other’s way. Very large kitchen made it great for hanging out and playing games. We cooked in almost every breakfast and dinner and there were ample plates utensils pots and pans to do it.
The location is great. Basically a block from the beaches on the bay or ocean. Two blocks from an amusement park and some restaurants. 15 minutes from the Zoo and Seaworld.
If you have a sizable group or not this is the place!!!
I wish all of our VBRO experiences were like this one!!!

Our family loved our stay at this spacious town home. Everyday you have the option of spending your time at either the bay or the beach, which my children loved. You are also just a quick walk away from Belmont Park which includes activities for children and adults, restaurants, bars, etc. Thank you for a wonderful stay, we wish we could have stayed longer!
