Wonderful, spacious property. Plenty of room for my entire family. Loved all the decks on the back of the house. It was nice and clean when we got there. We enjoyed using the hot tub. Communication with the owner was excellent. He answered every question we had and made the trip perfect.

We had a wonderful week at this large home with plenty of space for all to spread out, fully stocked kitchen, great double decker boathouse with beach and kayaks, and comfortable beds and furniture. The screened-in porch was an added plus. It's on a short cove within a kayak ride of the main lake...perfect! Monte was available whenever we had a question...the most responsive host we've had; thank you! Highly recommend this property. Felt like home.

13 of us descended upon the property, which was big enough for Everyone have their own bed. The house is big with lots of space for eating round tables and to sit around and talk. The screened porch is nice and there is also a large deck. The boathouse provided shade and a place to jump into the lake. The lake. Itself is very clean. The little Cove that we stayed in was right off of the main lake at the 1st mile marker we rented a pontoon for a couple of days and had fun scouting out the lake. There are lots of houses on this lake and the neighbors Are very close to the house. Fortunately, no one was in those homes while we were staying there so we had a measure of privacy. Homeowner provided lots of water toys for the kids to have fun with.

We couldn't have picked a better home for our first trip to Lake Gaston. The Blue Heron is perfect for large groups with kids and was one of the cleanest and well stocked rentals my family has ever stayed at. We enjoyed the large kitchen and spacious living areas for our group of 12 to spread out. The kids especially appreciated all of the games, toys, and floats that came with the house. The weather was exceptionally hot, so we basically lived in the water all week, swimming and floating from the dock and beach for hours on end. The owner is very responsive and ensured we had a smooth (and early!) check-in.

The location was perfect, a quiet little piece of heaven with its own private mini beach, yet still connected to the main lake. With the mini beach, boat house, multitude of decks and screened in porch, Kayaks/SPB, hot tub, and closet full of toys for the littles, there was something for everyone. The multiple kitchens, dining areas, and spacious living rooms made it easy for us to share this space with friends/family without feeling like we were on top of each other the whole time! And we could not have asked for better hosts. Monty went out of his way to make sure we were all comfortable and

We had the best time during our week long stay at the Blue Heron celebrating our son’s high school graduation with all of the grandparents. So many memories made! We did not want to leave. The place is very clean, comfortable and nice and roomy. It is at a great location. Our dogs loved swimming at the beach and we loved hanging out at the boat dock. We felt right at home and anything we forgot to bring we found supplied at the house by Monty and Wanda. They are great hosts and provide a stress free stay. Highly recommend! Thanks for the memories!

This was a great house for a large group. We had 3 families vacation together and there was plenty of space to accommodate everyone! The location is quiet with the cove that was perfect for the kids to swim, fish and play in. Lots of memories created and looking forward to creating many more!

We enjoyed this home, we spent our days down by the water kayaking, relaxing in our floats, the kids could go out to the water from the beach area and fish off the dock.
The owner kept in touch making sure we had a great stay. We hope to return year after next (we have a family trip to Ireland next year.)
This is a great place to stay!

This house works very well for large groups with 2 full kitchens and many bedrooms. The owner was awesome communicating before our visit and really easy to reach when we needed to find something! The house was clean and comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked. Great boat dock in a small cove right off the main lake. I would highly recommend this house.

Our two son's and our four grandson's had a great week at the lake. One of our daughter-in-law was able to join us the last two days. We mainly went tubing, boat riding, fishing, swimming, grilling, and played board games. We enjoyed a meal at the WatersView restaurant as well as takeout from Lake Gaston Pizza and Pino's Pizza & Restuarant. We have stayed several years at the Blue Heron and have enjoyed each visit. It is a great place with the right accomodations for our family.

Blue Heron is a beautiful home in an equally beautiful setting. Well equipped, plenty of comfortable spaces for our family to spread out (inside and out), but also great gathering spaces for games, meals and just hanging out together. Our 3-generation family came together to enjoy the holiday. We cooked all our meals in the comfortable kitchen, making it really convenient. Morning coffee on the dock deck is a must! It was our first trip to Lake Gaston and what a great way to experience it!

We had a great time with all of the family, my children, their spouses and grandkids. We typically go to the beach every year, but this was our first time at a Lakehouse. Everyone said there was so much more to do at the Lake and have voted to continue the Lake over the beach.
The Blue Heron was perfect and accommodated all of us very nicely. The best part for the kids were the kayaks and the beach area. If we weren’t boating they were in the water. Many memories made and many thanks to Monte for being readily available for all of my questions!

This house was exactly as listed. The kitchen was very well stocked, and there was plenty of room for all of us. We did rent a pontoon boat, which was an added bonus, and it was easily docked at the boathouse on the property. The owner promptly responded to our questions. This is a lovely home, with great outdoor space.

Beautiful & Well Equipped
The house was beautiful and in an easily accessible location, and it was private. The beach, dock, and swimming area was great. They had a sit-in & sit on kayak as well as a paddle board, so with theirs plus the ones we bought, we were all able to get out on the lake for some paddling. Beautiful lake - many many motor boats and jet skis, but they all gave the kayaks space. Lots of fun waves to ride on when they sped by.
The house itself was great for our group of families, We were all able to separate out and have space but still close enough to gather together and have fun family time. That back screened-in porch was a favorite hang-out spot, as was the hot tub. The kitchen was well stocked and huge. The breakfast area/eat-in kitchen was our main spot. The dining room was very nice, but we had little kids and they have a lot of glass and china in there, so we stayed out of it. The front living room's couch was super comfortable for adults to nap :). We paid extra for linen service for towels and sheets and it was well worth it.
It is remote and GPS didn't work in most of the town but there was one main road that had a couple gas stations at either end, the Food Lion, Dollar Tree, Ace Hardware, and a nice nursery with a gift shop in it. We went about 30 mins away to Roanoke Rapids a few times for Walmart and Dunham Sports, and had a nice movie night out at the local small theater.
Mont was very responsive and helpful, before and during the trip. Overall great, we would definitely visit here again and recommend it to others.

Great place. Awesome location on the lake.
Our family had a great stay at the Blue Heron. The house was beautiful, spacious and clean! Having a 2nd refrigerator was much appreciated, as were the baby gates, at the top of the stairs and on the deck. We didn't end up using the firepit, but it was nice to have wood available to use, as well as gas for the grill. The beds were roomy and very comfortable. We especially loved the screened in porch and deck. A very peaceful and relaxing week. The bottle of wine and preserves from Monte and Wanda was a nice touch.
A suggestion to make the home even better:
It would definitely be helpful to have some sort of table / umbrella on the top level of the dock.

Friends and family Thanksgiving getaway
Our group was mostly Marine veterans and one army veteran. We temporarily put up another flag holder so we could display the Marine corps flag and our national flag or your national flag using proper flag protocol.
We had to remove the leaves from around the fire pit and had to purchase a rake to do so, the doc could use better lighting for those who like to fish at night. I was not pleased with the two vacuum cleaners that were left on the property one blue dust and couldn't use that one and the both of them were full. I'm a little particular about cleaning up I usually leave the places I stay cleaner than the way I find them however my friends and family enjoyed ourselves and that's what counts.

Labor Day weekend
We were fortunate the people who had it reserved canceled which allowed us to rent it. Our experience was great all around. The house and amenities were as described. Monte and Wanda worked with us to provide linens and towels from a third party so all the rooms were made up when we got there.

Blue Heron getaway
We had a great time at the Blue Heron that had plenty of room for a large group that ranged from infants to great grand parents. Monte was fantastic as a host and was very responsive to any concerns that came up during the course of our stay (which were minor). Lots of space in the house and plenty of options for outdoor activities between the beach, the yard, the dock, and the multiple decks at the house. A great time was had by all.

Fabulous vacation spot
This house is perfect for extended families with little ones ages 1, 1/2, and 2 1/2. One family stayed downstairs and two stayed upstairs. The beach front allowed for shallow wading. The design of the house allowed for pushing little plastic trucks in a circle through the main room, front entry, front living room, dining room and eating area back to the main room. Adult children enjoyed paddle boarding and kayaks. Boat rental was super easy. Fire pit was fun and has lots of seating. And the views from the house are awesome. Sunset time on the boathouse deck was great for the adults after the little ones were asleep.
