About this house rental
We now have a FUJITSU heat pump and A/C!
Our place is close to Bar Harbor (45 minutes) and Bangor. (20 minutes)
There are amazing technical mountain trails outside the back door.
We are on Brewer Lake with amazing sunsets! (outside the front door and just a short walk) Great fishing, swimming and kayaking!
Also, you can take advantage of the summer concert series in the evenings and American Folk Festival in August. Great for couples, group adventurers, and families.
Our cell #’s are Di, 207-992-6657 and Joe, 207-992-6659.
Welcome to our home, we hope you enjoy your stay!
Here are some useful tidbits:
The wifi password is cooperryder.
All of the televisions are Smart TV 's.
There is dish soap and detergent under the sink.
The key is in the golf cart and the kayaks are already at the dock.
There are life jackets on the stone patio under the screened in porch.
Firewood for the firepit is on the outside of the woodshed on the left. There is a sign.
Closest grocery stores:
Walmart or Hannaford, both in Brewer, about a 15 minute drive.
This time of the year it is much easier to access both by turning left on Wiswell instead of going to the end of Copeland Hill and trying to turn left onto 1A. I have included a map.
There is also Tiller and Rye in Brewer if you are looking for organic produce, grass fed and free range meat, or gluten free options. They have a “cafe” on site that has great items to go. They also have lots of local beers, wines and coffee.
All doors lock, but can open from the inside. Pull the handle up and turn the lock to the left.
Dinner Recommendations:
Bangor is about 20-25 minutes away. Brewer is about 10-15 minutes away.
McLaughlins (Bangor), The Eagle’s Nest (Brewer), or Jone’s Lobster Co. (Holden) are the best places to get a lobster roll. None are fancy. McLaughlins only has outdoor picnic table seating. Jone’s has some indoor and outdoor seating and also has many other delicious options on their menu...and they are the closest!
For a pricey, but excellent dinner, try Evenroods. Timber Kitchen and Bar is also a good choice with a throwback to Maine’s lumbering industry in their design.
The Tarrantine is also a unique dinner experience. The Tarratine Building is a historic structure in Bangor’s Great Fire District. The exclusive Tarratine Club was organized in the year 1884 by 31 Bangor citizens. Among that group of 31 was former U.S. vice president and first Tarratine Club President, Hannibal Hamlin. You are welcome to explore the building while you're there or have drinks on the rooftop bar.
For great food via a brewery, try Mason’s Brewing Company in Brewer or the Sea Dog in Bangor, both have waterfront seating, which is perfect if there’s a concert in town.
A relatively new restaurant/bar is Kanu in Old Town. Their rooftop bar is also pretty amazing.
For a yummy sandwich, try the Harvest Moon Deli in Brewer. Locally owned with a creative menu.
If you love ice cream, Giffords or Fielder's Choice are both excellent!
If you are heading to Bar Harbor, Camden or Belfast for a day trip, you can’t go wrong!

Fantastic house close to town. Well stocked and clean. Loved sleeping with the windows open, listening to the loons.

This was an ideal choice for our family vacation! We had 6 adults and 2 children. We had planned to have 2 more adults and 3 more children under the age of 13 but unfortunately, airline issues prevented them from coming. Had they come, there would have been plenty of sleeping space for all of us. There were only 2 bathrooms but we worked it out for use of the showers. The house is so open, roomy and comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped with a large bar counter top. It was nice having the AC during the warmer parts of the day. We spent a lot of time lounging on the screened in porch and enjoying the swing. There was a fire pit for making s’mores and the home owners graciously provided the supplies! We opted to use the great fire table on the side of the house instead which worked great! Having the golf cart at our disposal was a nice feature which the grands loved riding to the nice beach area! The house was a short path’s walk to the dock where we daily saw loons and beautiful sunsets! The kayaks were fun for our son, his wife and our 2 grandchildren to go out on the water. Behind the house were amazing bike trails that the home owner built. Some of us enjoyed walking on them. The homeowners were very accommodating and did all they could to answer all our questions, wanting us to have a great time. The house was perfect, clean and it was nice having a laundry room too. We definitely made great memories this trip and highly recommend this property! We hope to come back!

The listing was misleading. There are 0 bedrooms on the main floor. There is one bedroom in the loft, but it’s not private(Listing says it’s private). It has glass doors that open up to the loft, which contains 3 beds. We had to put towels over the glass for privacy.
The other two private bedrooms are in the basement. The bathrooms were dirty and both showers had mold and mildew in them, and smelled terrible.
The lowest level bedroom was moldy and musty and the AC didn’t remove the humidity. Using the AC made the smell worse.
One of our guests couldn’t stay down there because the mold and mildew smell was too overwhelming.
Based on the listing description, we thought it could comfortably accommodate two families, but it did not with the odd bedroom configurations.

Great secluded lake house
The house was well equipped for all our needs. Two families split the house - 9 total. Kids upstairs area is amazing! Adults were jealous. Great fire pit area and dock area. Would definitely visit again!

Great house for a group
We loved our time at this clean, well-appointed lake house. Swimming off the dock was the highlight but everything in the house was great as well. We’ll definitely hope to be back next time the group gets together.

Family and Friends Acadia trip
We are a group of friends who met in Maryland. We now have families and decided to take a trip to Maine to explore Acadia National Park and the surrounding area. The host was wonderful from the beginning and answered our questions quickly. She also provided great information and recommendations for things to do and restaurants in the area. The home was amazing and highly exceeded our expectations. While our main goal was to explore Acadia National Park, we also wanted a place where we could relax and have space for the kids to play. Having access to the lake just steps away from the house was awesome. We utilized the kayaks and the canoe, went fishing, and hung out on the dock. The sunset was beautiful and we could hear the loons on the lake. The fire pit area was great for relaxing and making s’mores. Inside the home was beautiful. The open layout of the kitchen and living room made it easy to cook and hang out. We all hope to go back someday in the future and would absolutely love to rent this home again.

Delightful lake house
The lake is decent size and very nice. The kayaks and canoe at the property really let you enjoy it. The house is in excellent shape and just a short walk uphill from the lake. Only one of the bedrooms is truly a separate room from the others, but as long as you can deal with that, this is a fantastic vacation house.

Perfect week
What a great getaway home! We were a little worried at first at how far out the house seemed, but after doing so much running around we ALL could not wait to get back and relax by the lake, fire pit, or back porch. There was more than enough room for our 2 families of 8, a big kitchen for all of us to gather and the perfect yard to play games (that were provided)!! We couldn't have asked for more, the memories made there will last a lifetime!

Family Stay on Brewer Lake
Our family of five enjoyed two weeks on this lake side property. The house is spacious and well-appointed. We really loved the large open concept living and dining room. We spent a lot of time on the screened porch. Our 15 year old son loved the upstairs bunk area. He enjoyed having separate space and we all enjoyed the bumper pool. The master bedroom is on the basement level and all other bedrooms are together on the second floor in what we called the “kids area”. This area is so cool with beds built into walls!! The lake is beautiful and peaceful. Not a lot of boat traffic which made for a quiet and relaxing experience. We really appreciated having the kayaks available for exploring the lake, and we used them almost daily. I would say for families traveling with small children or anyone with mobility issues the lake is not easily accessible. You do have to go down hill and across the road to get to the lake, but there is a golf cart provided to go back and forth. For us it was not an issue. Also the access to the water is from a dock or a rocky shore, again it was fine for our family. We brought bikes but did not end up using them as the biking trails were too advanced for us. However, the trails behind the house were fun to explore. We were pleasantly surprised to find a great number of excellent restaurants and breweries in the area. We also took a day trip to Bar Harbor/Acadia National Park to hike and enjoy a meal. We also went to Bangor to see Stephen King’s house, visit a few shops, and see a movie on a rainy day. Overall we had a great experience and were really able to relax and enjoy this area of Maine!

Great property to get away from it all
Our extended family of 3 toddlers, 2 teens, and 7 adults stayed a week at this property and loved everything about it. The place was clean, there was tons of room for us all, and the location was beautiful. The bonus screened in porch and the fire pit is where we spent the bulk of time "not sleeping" - the porch is just to die for and I was sad to leave it behind. The other thing you don't think about until you have 7 adults in one house with 2 showers - quantity of hot water! There was tons - they have a boiler instead of a standard 50 gallon hot water heater that I'm used to, and we never ran out. That was huge for us as everyone wanted to shower daily.
The lake was gorgeous, but please understand there is no beach, this isn't exactly a walk up lake with a bank. It's heavily treed, the best access point to the lake is from the owner's dock. It was still a bit too cool and we did not get in the water on this trip, and didn't take advantage of the FOUR kayaks the owner provided for use.
The property was very rural, yet an easy drive in to town to pick up milk or pizza, if you so desire. About an hour drive to Acadia National Park. Everyone was very happy with this house and the owner's responsiveness to any questions we had. It was a great stay.
One note - no AC. We knew that going in and was expecting it. There is a marked temperature difference between floors, put those who like it warmer on the top floor to sleep as it is definitely warmer at night. If you're from Texas, like me, it might get uncomfortable in late August, but was perfect at the end of June. The weather overall was just such a nice change from the heat of Texas, and I immediately noticed the lack of trees in the DFW area when I landed after being surrounded by them at this rental property in Maine. Had a bit of geographic shock! My kudos to Diane and Joe and his brother, they go out of their way to make sure your stay goes well. Love to Cooper and Ryder!

Perfect place to relax
Fabulous! We loved it! All as advertised and more. We were six adults and two little kids. Loved the lake, the kayaks, the fire pit and the golf cart. Dianne was very helpful, informative, and yet gave us our space. The place was clean and easy to enjoy. We liked being off the beaten path and mostly just relaxed. It was an easy drive to enjoy a day at Acadia and on the last day be close to Bangor for flights out.

Absolutely beautiful lakeside summer home!
My friends and I enjoyed a nice late summer weekend at their home in Holden. The house is truly amazing with plenty of space for all of us to sleep and hang out and even a large kitchen for us to have a couple family style dinners. The house is a little ways from the shore of the lake but it has a large level grass area for outdoor games and a golf cart to travel along a well kept trail to their own dock near the water. They had a couple kayaks for us to explore the lake and a firepit for late night smores and hanging out. Definitely a must visit for those looking for a getaway in northern maine! It was even close enough to Bangor when we wanted to check out the downtown seen! Oh, and the mountain bike trails are pretty awesome and definitely something we would do if we ever return.
