I have traveled extensively and stayed in many properties. This was by far our best experience. The accommodations were very comfortable, very clean, and welcoming. The location is a 5 min walk to restaurants, cafes, and a wonderful farmers market on Saturday’s. The owner, Kelly greeted us to see if we needed any assistance during our stay, set up a parking pass which was wonderful, and was a wealth of local knowledge. We will definitely book again for future visits to DC!

We stay here each spring - visiting daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughter. It's convenient, clean, with a great back yard. Perfect for us.

We really enjoyed our visit to DC – about a 10 minute walk to nearby Metro Station. Quite a few restaurants nearby. Was able to park on street nearby. Bedrooms and bathrooms were clean. Beautiful spot. We felt safe in the neighborhood. Lots of other families nearby.

Overall, I would recommend this property.
Pros: Convenient location from which to hop on the Metro, so no need to drive into downtown DC; well-furnished, stylish apartment; comfortable beds; well-stocked kitchen necessities; two bathrooms
Cons: Parking is a problem if you're driving in. Luckily, the host was kind enough to let us park in her garage because she happened to be away during the time we were there. It was mostly clean, but there were areas that needed a bit more elbow-grease. There were also open containers/food left in the fridge from previous guests.

This apartment is in a quiet, beautiful neighborhood, just steps away from many delicious restaurants, great coffee house (Elle) and ice cream (Mt. Desert), grocery stores, a Saturday farmer's market and an easy, 10 minute walk to the Metro's red line for easy access to all of DC.
The apartment is very comfortable and Kelly has stocked many supplies to use as needed, making the stay ideal.
This is an ideal place to stay when visiting DC!

Perfect retreat after a busy day of taking in the sights!

We traveled for our first family trip to Washington DC. We so enjoyed ourselves! The location is fantastic: out of the city, but close enough to visit the museums and monuments for the day. We had no trouble getting to the metro and catching buses. And in the evening, we could walk a block and have a cocktail on the patio of numerous restaurants before shopping for our evening meal at the local market. Kelly was kind and helpful. She suggested activities and they were perfect! We loved our daily doggie visitors and sitting out back with coffee in the morning and drinks in the evening. We hated to leave when our time was over.

Very nice apartment, clean, generously stocked with standard foods and amenities. Quiet and pretty neighborhood, exceedingly convenient to restaurants and local stores, 10 minute walk from either subway or zoo. You can hear the lions roar in the morning! Friendly, responsive hosts live upstairs; only met husband in passing. English basement with nice windows in bedrooms, and a wonderful little outdoor space perfect for morning coffee. Good internet and television. One bedroom is larger and has better ensuite than the other. Noise insulation is poor but hosts are VERY quiet. Overall, an excellent apartment in a wonderful neighborhood buzzing with a vibrant mix young people, immigrants, and families. It's fun to be there.

We had a wonderful 1-week stay at this place while visiting DC. Although this was a basement unit, it had its own entry way with separate kitchen and living spaces. The owner was very responsive to questions/requests; she lives with her family upstairs from the unit. Nearby very interesting local restaurants with international flavors. Convenient, easy walk to metro & bus stops. We also rented a car for 2 days to reach places that the metro doesn't go to. Overnight parking was not easy to find in the neighborhood but not impossible. Overall, we would highly recommend this rental for traveling families.

This property is in an amazing location in the Columbia Heights/Mount Pleasant area. Easy access to the metro, great restaurants, nearby, and a cozy spot to come home to after a long day of being a tourist in Washington DC.

I spent the week with my husband and his parents. We were there to sight see mostly. About 10 minute walk to Metro. Excellent food and supplies even closer. Very clean and comfortable. It is in the basement, however the back daylights into a very nice covered patio. Kelly was great. We felt very safe and sound!

Easy walk to Metro and Kelly was very helpful and accommodating. Everything you would need is there. Only downside you can hear all foot traffic from upstairs but wasn’t real bad.

The space was perfect for our family. We booked this location for a day trip to the zoo. It was an easy walk to the zoo. The restaurants within walking distance were delicious. We were further away from the National Mall than I thought but it was easy to get a Lyft for 5. We had a great time. My mom loved the history book for the neighborhood on the bookshelf, nice touch! There were plenty of supplies from the owner in towels and blankets. Thank you so much for everything.

Adorable apartment
We loved the apartment! It was clean, comfortable, well stocked and in a lovely neighborhood. Everyone was so friendly.
We used public transportation and found it convenient and easy to navigate. Kelly is an excellent host who went out of her way to make sure we were taken care of.
We would stay again the next time we are in D.C.

An awesome if not the mosquitoes
It’s the basement but has its own entry. All the things, utensils sheets covers are very clean. A 10 minute ish walk to the zoo, 2 minutes to bus stop and 10 to metro. People around are really nice. Lots of Mexican restaurants nearby and a 15 -30 minutes walk or 10 minutes by bus can take you to various food places. Our only trouble was the mosquitoes. Too bad. Everyone was almost eaten up by them. Otherwise really nice neighborhood!

Enjoyable
We enjoyed our stay in the area. The next time I will come when it’s not a holiday. It was a little too much going on. Otherwise we enjoyed it. The place was lovely and the area was great. We were able to walk to restaurants.

Perfect spot for relaxing after busy days
My sister and I spent 4 nights at this rental, and it was ideal for our needs. A short walk from a Metro station or Lyft to/from anywhere in town got us to monuments and museums with ease. We were able to pick up a few foodie items at Each Peach nearby and cook breakfasts, with plenty of tasty restaurants within walking distance for evening meals. We both also had privacy for when we were done with together time and needed to decompress after being out and about all day! The bed in the large room was firmer than I prefer, but I had the same thing at the hotel I was in earlier in the week for a conference, so that might be my back more than the bed.

DC graduation vacation
We had a great time staying at VRBO in DC. The basement apartment was spacious and had everything we needed. Very close to bus route to go to historic landmarks. Kelly was a fabulous host and answered any questions we had. The kitchen was well stocked and we bought fresh seafood and ate on the covered patio.
The apartment is in a 100 year old charming home in a quaint neighborhood.

Wonderful location
Kelly was an awesome host-we had no major issues, and she responded quickly to questions that we had. Apartment is as described. Well stocked, clean, in a nice neighborhood. We did not do as much cooking as anticipated- the neighborhood has wonderful cafes and restaurants nearby. We walked to the zoo and took the metro to national mall. Thanks again for the wonderful stay.

10 day family trip. October 2021
I am very pleased with our stay. The location is great. We only used a taxi to get back and forth from the airport (Dulles). We otherwise used the Metro to get to all locations as this was a sight seeing vacation. The rental was clean and well stocked with the amenities we needed to cook meals and do laundry. The beds are very comfortable and there are plenty of fresh towels and linens. The price for getting 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms in D.C. close to all the sights is very reasonable. It is a basement apartment of a family home so you will hear the footsteps of those above and their dogs, but in reality I wouldn’t let that deter you from renting this place. We loved eating at the Purple Patch restaurant which Is very close. We also found we were able to get all the food we needed close by.
