The living room, dining room and kitchen all made it easy for the group of 8 to move about, work together and spend time visiting. Having the five bedrooms was crucial for our stay. Only downside really was the stickers, which the host apologized for and had been doing her best to get rid of them.

Great historic property. My grandkids were fascinated by the push button light switches. Let future guests know about the turkey buzzards that roost on the water tower at dusk. There were at least 25 when we saw them.
The keurig coffee maker must have just been cleaned or descaled with white vinegar because coffee tasted like vinegar and I used my own k-cups. Luckily I finally figured out how to work the drip coffee maker. Had to press and hold the prog button to get it to brew.
Also was told my mom who is 92 and can't do stairs could sleep on one of the couches. Well those are loveseats not couches, so she couldnt stretch out. We ended up having to take her to Quinter to stay in my cousins camper at the RV park. Very disappointed and inconvenient that she couldn't stay with us in Collyer and I couldnt tend to her. Had we known in advance I could've made better arrangents for her than a camper in the RV park.

We came to Kansas in search of pheasant and quail. We brought all of our hunting dogs. The house was wonderfully stocked above and beyond what we expected. The house has Way more room than it looks like from the online listing. The town was great and quiet Wakeeny was close enough to get groceries and essentials. If we find ourselves in the area again in the future we will definitely re-book. Communication with the owner was wonderful.

Great property! It was centrally located to several adventure spots our group took in during this Summer of COVID. The house was delightful, spacious, and full of character. When you rent this place its kind of like you rent the whole town of Collyer - we would routinely stroll the town in the evening and made friends along the way. Lake Scott State Park, Lake Wilson, and ESPECIALLY Castle Rock (only 20 mins from this home) are awesome adventures worth taking in. We also enjoyed Little Jerusalem Badlands. (no need to visit Monument Rocks). Great hike at Cedar Bluff but the lake isn't that great.

This historic house is fantastic!
This is by far the best VRBO U have ever stayed in! It was very clean and was set up perfectly for our group. We had 8 people in the group and we were all very comfortable. Anything we could have possibly needed was already there.
Thank you Rachel for a wonderful stay and I will be contacting you for more available dates!!

We would stay here again
A wonderful, sturdily built , older house with room for a whole bunch of people, thanks to Rachel's provisions of extras, including queen blow-up mattresses and loads of bedding to be used as needed. The up-to-date kitchen appliances, dishware, dishwasher and laundry facilities made our stay so convenient to accommodate the 8 of us who stayed there over a week, especially as we cooked most of our meals there. Rachel replied quickly to any questions I had, and did her rapid best to smooth out any little glitches we ran into. We loved the little back closed in porch that looks out over the landscape behind the house . It made a lovely place to sit and drink one's morning tea or coffee before everybody else got up for breakfast. Having three bathrooms to use was wonderful. The upstairs single bedrooms at the ends of the house become hotter and more airless than the other rooms because of the house's older vent system , but with fans to blow into them from the hallway, it's tolerable. I'm sure that will be addressed at some point in the owners' continuing updating. The country-style decorations and decor were charming and the big dining table can actually hold 10 with extra chairs put at the corners. Everything was clean and neat and welcoming. Some of us actually played darts with the set down in the basement! We would definitely rent this property again should we have reason to be in Kansas in future.
