About this apartment rental
Relax on your private deck with beautiful views of San Diego Bay, the downtown skyline, Coronado Island, and the nearby mountains. Where else can you have lovely sunrises and watch the sunset reflected off the skyline from the same deck chair? And YES, all the view photos shown in our listing are taken from our (your) patio deck! Parking is spacious, easy, and free, usually right in front!
Did you know that our part of San Diego (Point Loma) was recently determined to be #3 on the 10 Coolest Neighborhoods in America? Do a Google search on "10 coolest neighborhoods in America right now" and choose Money.com for details. (Homeaway won't let us put the URL in this listing)
Our home is located less than 10 minutes from the airport, Shelter Island, Harbor Island, downtown, and EASY walking distance to restaurants, shops, yoga, and the bay. Many guests tell us how much they enjoy being able to do so much without having to get in a car! Watch the fighter jets take off from North Island and frequent sail boat races. You can see the hills of Balboa Park where the San Diego Zoo is located. Sea World is 15 minutes around the corner. The border is 25 minutes to the south. The lights in Mexico are visible at night from your deck! Walk over to buy fresh fish from Point Loma Seafood. Stop by the Jennings House Cafe for breakfast in the morning. Or skip all that and enjoy one of HarborTown's 17 beers on tap.
Your cozy apartment with private entrance and private deck includes everything you'll need for making your San Diego vacation a most memorable experience. The kitchenette is newly remodeled and the queen bed is very comfortable. And we just added a hardwood floor to the bedroom.
We think you will be most comfortable with two people but please inquire if you have need for a 3rd guest. You may be visited by our friendly cat from time to time. Our home sits on a hillside so it’s about 20 steps to your level. You can cut that in half by taking our outdoor elevator (hillevator) to our level and walk down to yours.
Your hosts, Kelle and Dave, live just above and will be on hand, when needed, to answer any questions and provide recommendations for the many activities and sights San Diego has to offer. When we are home we're pretty quiet so you will hardly know we're here. If you want to take it easy and save money, don't rent a car and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. There is a path along the water that is very nice at night. We often walk down there. Overall, we think we have the best value in all of Pt Loma. Please read through our reviews to see what those who visit with us are saying.

Dave treats you like family - their home is beautiful with a calming fish pond, stunning plants and a perfect location. Loved staying there - the place has everything you need and Dave is willing to help if you need anything else! They welcome you with wine and countless recommendations to enjoy the area. Was a wonderful experience!

Property was perfect for a quick work trip. Only regret is that we didn't get to stay longer and enjoy the great location of the property.

This is a very nice property, gorgeous view, the patio is great. The location is in a quiet neighborhood close to everything interesting in San Diego. The owners are very nice people. The only thing I would do to improve this property is a good deep cleaning and reorganization.

The area is great and so was the view!

Close to everywhere you’d want to go. The patio view was what makes this place a gem. The lights of the city at night and watching the sailboat and ships was awesome. The restaurants in Point Loma were great. Dave, the property manager, was helpful. Trolley system into the city was very easy to use. Definitely glad we rented a car. Must go places: San Diego Zoo, Coronado Beach and hotel, Padres game at Petco Stadium, Torey Pines, La Jolla. Do the Flagship 2-hr cruise with amazing history of the many Navy ships and aircraft, and see sea lions. Found this dive place in Oceanside, Mike’s Taco Club - hands down the best burrito ever created.

I saw this property on VRBO a few years ago and wanted to stay, but it just never worked out, but it did for a couple nights this trip. It's a nice place and would be good for a romantic stay just like they say. The pictures make it look even better than it is, but that's more a statement to good photography than any deficiency of the property. It's in a great Pt Loma side street location, and parking is easy. The owners are responsive and involved, very easy to communicate with. The view is especially nice at night.
4 only stars because it isn't perfect.

We loved our short stay in this quiet neighborhood with a fabulous view of the city. Great restaurants are just a short walk away, and it's an easy drive to downtown and Coronado Island.
The apartment is small, but had everything we needed. Like others, we particularly enjoyed the patio.
The hosts went above and beyond to look after us, with great communication, local information and welcome wine - even though they were dealing with personal issues and travel at the time of our stay.
The steep steps might be an issue if you have lots of luggage or mobility problems, but we felt the area was safe enough that we could leave a few things in the car.

a smart clever!y designed two room apartment with a gorgeous patio overlooking Shelter Island. The picture tells you everything you need to know. We loved the location. A perfect set up for a week at least. We didn't do much cooking but the mini kitchen is well equipped! No complaints at all.

We had a nice time but the weather was a little of a damper on our parade!
Very well stocked with amenities- even a wine chiller in the freezer for my white!
There are stairs but not took them flow and they were fine.
Next time we’ll get to use the deck more!

This property was in a quiet neighborhood close to downtown and the airport. Our favorite part was the terrace that had a great view of the city. Dave the host was friendly, responsive and accomodating..

The space was perfect for two and I could have lived on the balcony with the fantastic view of the harbor. So much to watch after a long day of activities.

This is a very private one bedroom located underneath another home. Your hosts live above and are very attentive to your needs. There’s plenty of street parking in front of the house. It’s very cute and cozy inside, and has a big deck outside with city views. It has a well set up kitchen so you can prepare your own meals, or walk to many restaurants down in the Shelter Island area. it is a walk up with 21 steps, so not recommended for those with mobility problems.

The perfect apartment for two people, the outdoor patio more than doubles your space and is ideal at all times of the day!
Well-appointed for meals, even entertaining a small group of friends/family!!
Dave is a dream host with a charming personality, friendly nature and excellent suggestions for things to do in SD!!
The bed is very comfortable too!
Enjoyed the neighborhood very much and would be thrilled to stay here again!!

My wife and I totally enjoyed our stay. Our host was very accomodating and friendly, the property was clean and very well provisioned, and the view as advertised was awesome. The property is quite small, but comfortable, and you do need to be able to navigate at least one flight of steps (the hill evator is handy but only goes between the street and the second level, and the unit is on the first level in-between). The location was also great, with numerous restaurants and such within walking distance.

We stayed at this charming property for two weeks in June and thoroughly enjoyed it.Ideally located and central to Point Loma yet it's a calm and tranquil place. Our host Dave was most helpful and courteous, full of local knowledge and advice and even introduced us to a fabulous Californian wine which he was generous in sharing with us on a couple of occasions during our stay. He also pointed us in the direction of some excellent local restaurants. We will certainly return here on our next visit to fabulous San Diego.

Loved this neighborhood...beautiful view, homes, walkable to several great restaurants/pubs, gift shop/pharmacy, and to the bay for our whale watching cruise. Very much appreciated that we had some flexibility on our check in/check out. Place was very clean, everything we needed. Patio was perfect and we enjoyed gorgeous sunrises.

We loved our stay in this rental - there were terrific sunrise views over the bay and a comfortable couch on the patio. Toni and Dave were available but not intrusive. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

Loads of wonderful things to say about this property. The view from the terrace is outstanding, the morning sun that quickly warms the place (in February) is wonderfully welcome, the location, within walking distances to restaurants and the information sent by he hosts prior to our arrival was so comprehensive and helpful. But alas, there a few negatives. Much of the interior is old and shows the wear of it's age. Disappointing upon our arrival was the lack of an outlet near the bed to charge an IPhone and not even a small clock in the room to us to see the time at night, the lack of a box of tissues, the collection of older foodstuffs and toiletries, some empty, in the closets, while not exactly thrown together with the usual extras, but haphazardly offered, and even the old and hard to read aged oven thermometer (needed because of the old and quirky stove). All in all, however, a wonderfully situated place in a wonderful city!!

My wife and I just finished a five-night stay here, and had a great time. The location of this property is fantastic — close to the airport, and in a very beautiful and walkable neighborhood. It is a short Uber ride or long walk to several places of interest, such as Cabrillo National Monument and Sunset Cliffs Park. We never once wished we had rented a car.
When we weren't out exploring, we spent most of our time out on the patio, even though the weather during our visit was unseasonably cool and rainy at times. The view of the bay and the San Diego skyline is amazing, and we especially loved looking over toward the city at night. We were able to light a fire in the chiminea one night, and it was magical out there!
Dave and Toni were very good hosts, and left some of the most detailed and helpful suggestions for things to do in the area that I've ever seen. The communication with them long before we arrived was excellent. It was a very nice touch to arrive and find two bottles of wine waiting for us!
The apartment itself is tiny but cute, and it contains all the essentials for a self-contained stay. We prepared all but one of our meals there, and never lacked for anything. The stove is extremely quirky, but if you follow the directions on the refrigerator, it is manageable.
There are two resident cats who sometimes visit the patio, and since we are cat-lovers, we enjoyed their company and even bought them cat treats. People who find cats annoying (I can't imagine!) might not appreciate the little visitors.
The only reason I am not giving five stars here is that the inside of the apartment is a bit on the worn side. We felt that with just a little bit of extra effort and TLC it could have been much nicer. For instance, when we went into the linen closet to find new towels, quite a few of them were what we would have consigned to the rag pile back home (frayed and/or stained). Some of the little throw rugs in the kitchen area had seen better days, and one of the chairs in the sitting area was very frayed. Many of the outlets didn't seem to want to hold a plug, so trying to charge our phones was challenging at times.
None of those issues would stop us from recommending this place, or returning. Because in the end, it's all about that magnificent patio!

This property was just perfect for our stay in San Diego, between the views, the location, and the hospitality of our host, Dave. Not only will I be back, I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a cute place to stay near the oven. And the property cats added a nice remember home!
