This was the perfect place to stay for our trip to South Bend to watch the Notre Dame football game. There was more than enough room for the 6 of us to sleep, spread out, relax…whatever! The fire pit was wonderful on a nice fall evening. Our host was so helpful in so many ways. We definitely plan to stay here when we come to the area again!

We have stayed at this property many times while visiting Hudson Lake as our lake house is under construction. It is cozy, spacious, warm, and inviting! My youngest son described it perfectly, it’s like getting a hug from grandma. I would recommend this rental to any family!!! Beds are super comfy too:)

This was like stepping back in time to a cozy little country house. The yard and landscaping was absolutely beautiful and the house was quiet and cozy.
I rented this for the weekend to host a baby shower and Jenifer was exceptionally accommodating, communicative, and flexible with us. Utilizing the outdoor back patio ended up creating the most intimate and beautiful shower atmosphere.

We stayed for Notre Dame graduation weekend. Seven adults were comfortable in the home. There is a grocery store close by and ND campus is 15 miles (about 30 minutes w/ traffic). The backyard was well kept with a fire pit and yard games. The property met out needs perfectly.

Property was very clean and there was ample space for our family/friend group to gather together. Jenifer is very responsive and communication was excellent. I would stay here again for a Notre Dame Football weekend.

As advertised, plenty of room for our party of 6. Comfortable accommodations for a great price, roughly 30 minutes to South Bend

This rental was perfect for my husband and his brother and two friends to use while visiting South Bend for a long weekend. They loved the accommodations, had beautiful weather for golfing, & saw the Irish win!

This comfortable house and property was wonderful for my family of four, my brother, and our parents. We were able to participate in the Friday fun on campus at Notre Dame and then the game but come back to rest and relax. We thoroughly enjoyed the backyard space, ALL the amenities provided, and the warm comfort of a home. We ordered excellent pizza and wings from the Billy Goat 9 and Dine local restaurant. We would definitely stay here again! Thanks to the hosts!

It was great and the only problem was the weather but no one can do anything about that.

A wonderfully enjoyable weekend stay, quaint, comfortable, and peaceful. We stayed up talking late into the night on the screened in porch and played trivia around the oak dining table. Not to mention a beautiful day on nearby Lake Michigan. All in all a memorable weekend.

We stayed at the house because my family is from the area and we were meeting with local family members. The house was convenient to everything and had all we needed for a comfortable stay. Jennifer was a fantastic host and we enjoyed our time very much.

We stayed at the Kanes Guesthouse for a nearby family reunion. Host Jenifer is very courteous and communicative. Property is charming and comfortable and clean. This listing was pet friendly, a hard thing to find, and it was great to be able to bring our dog here. One thing to note is that there is a small farm adjacent to the property with livestock, depending on temperament, you may need to plan to exercise your pet off the property. A pleasant stay and host, I recommend this listing.

This property was perfect for our small family group for a weekend at Notre Dame. Not too far away, well priced, enough bedrooms and bathrooms, a kitchen for breakfast, and space to hang out together. The welcoming sign was lovely!

Perfect place!
We had a great weekend at this lovely home. We didn’t mind the 30 minutes drive to the beach because the scenery we passed by are so relaxing. The well maintained backyard and the fire pit are the big plus to this home, it’s where we spent our afternoon, grilling and getting together. They also have things you need in the kitchen just like when your cooking at home.
Looking forward for our next trip here!
Love,
Jennifer

Michigan City boat races
It was a very nice rental home with a beautiful yard & peacocks visited from next door. They were fun to watch. We attended the boat races at Michigan City beach. So the rental was about 20-25 min drive. Very doable. Would return there again.

Wonderful Family Get together weekend
The "Kane House" was a wonderful roomy house for my children and grand-children to get together for a nice long weekend. The beaches are a short car ride away. We all enjoyed the cold lake waters and then visited a farm stand for fresh fruit and vegetables.
The home was comfortable and gave our larger crowd room to be together or be alone. The kids loved making smores by the firepit, and playing some outdoor activities in the large yard.
Jennifer our host was extremely accommodating throughout the booking process.
I will definitely stay at this house again if my plans take me back to the area for a little get-away.
Thanks for having us.

Roomy place with nice yard and roaming peacocks
Had a nice long weekend stay here with the family. It's an older home with commensurate furnishings--clearly years of memories built in--but plenty of space with three beds and two baths and ample living room. Small kitchen was certainly functional and nice that it was stocked with some basic staples (e.g, vegetable oil, kosher salt, etc).
The outdoor space was the star with a nice patio with fire pit and a large yard abutting a small forested area. The neighbor has a menagerie of fowl -- ducks, geese, chickens and the aforementioned peacocks. The fence is no match for them, so the roam as they please, which made for fun viewing. The town of new carlise (grocery, etc) as well as the hudson lake is a few minutes away by car, which is convenient. Wifi wasn't blazing (dsl), but certainly solid enough throughout the home.
One thing to note--and why I docked the review a star--unlike most vrbos, there was no key box and code, but instead you meet up with the owner's niece to get access. To be clear, both the owner (jenifer) and niece (ellen) were super friendly and lovely and very communicative -- however, having to try to time our meetup added unnecessary overhead and logistics to our departure (on top of managing two kids and rush hour traffic after a long week of work). Would have much rather just been able to pull in whenever we happened to get there. But to each his own. :)

My darling momma and I booked last minute as our family plans went down the rabbit hole thanks to COVID. It was just like going to grandmas- a very personal house. The kitchen was easy to use and very well stocked. We ended up able to grill our salmon and veggies, which was nice. Updated appliances, etc. Jenifer was GREAT to work with - there was a TV issue and she was so helpful and patient! Turned out to be something silly, as it frequently is. Her niece Ellen was welcoming and showed us around. It was spacious enough for the two of us to stay pretty spread out. The fireplace was the star! So nice with the dreary, chilly weather. We had a lovely holiday and very much enjoyed ourselves.

The property is as advertised and shown in pictures -- meaning very nice! Three nice bedrooms/two baths - kitchen with everything one might need. Nice dining room & living room with lots of entertainment choices on TV - nice screened in porch to eat in or relax in. Super deck area - where we spent most of our time, another seating are around a fire pit. The back yard is lovely - a real shady oasis. We loved the town of New Carlisle - a 4 minute drive away with a super Austrian restaurant! A small grocery store is also a 4 minute drive. Very close to Lake Michigan. We stayed here as a midwayish place between DC (with a stop to pick up a student in Columbus) and Minneapolis for an immediate family get together - the first since the winter holidays -- and we would happily stay here again. Oh - great and easy communication!
