About this apartment rental
Clean, adorable space w/ small deck overlooking garden & fire pit, hardwood floors, WIFI, cable, original 1947 ceramic tub, tasteful art, Queen captain's bed with spacious drawers, Queen fold-out sofa, eat-in kitchenette w/ fridge, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, etc. Walk downtown, around the corner from pizza, breweries, Luella's BBQ, Homegrown, close to everything & UNCA trails, stylishly rustic, vintage feel, charm & character! CableTV now, with over 300 channels. Steep external stairs.
If you want a brand new hotel-like experience, this is not the apartment for you. Yet, if you are drawn to antiques, local art, natural fibers, and an eclectic, bohemian feel, this little hideaway might be a perfect fit. From a small second-floor private deck, the apartment opens into a living room full of windows, local arts and crafts, hardwood floors, and an artfully curated mixture of furniture including a carved wooden chair from Bali, a vintage Hollywood director's spotlight lamp, and a yellow antique coffee table that doubles as a chest. There's a fold-out sofa for an extra guest. (A feather mattress-topper that can be found in the bedroom closet will make it comfier.)
The bathroom is clean and bright, yet well-loved with its original 1927 ceramic tile floor and ceramic tub. There is a heater in the bathroom for those winter days where you want the whole bathroom to be warm when you get out of your bath.
A little hall filled with cabinets and art leads you to an eat-in breakfast nook (no oven because of City restrictions, yet there is a large toaster oven and 2 burner induction electric range). The bedroom has two closets, and a comfy Queen captain's bed with large drawers for clothes, and a memory foam mattress topper.
Entrance to the apartment is behind the house, up a flight of external stairs (steep, so this is not a good fit for people who have a hard time with stairs) to a deck overlooking a yard with a shared fire pit, flower and vegetable gardens. Close by are UNCA wooded trails leading to Botanical Gardens.
The apartment is about a mile from the outskirts of downtown, and convenient to everything including shops, breweries, ice cream, galleries, boutiques, restaurants, museums, grocery stores, natural foods stores, etc. A short walk from the apartment is a wonderful bakery/market/restaurant where you can get sumptuous food, coffee, and all kinds of culinary treats.
Off-street parking for one car, ( some people find the driveway to the parking to be a bit tricky; you may need to back out when leaving, or feel free to park on the street in front of the house. Usually there are plenty of spaces there as well.) Washer/Dryer in the unfinished basement with separate entrance shared with guests in the second apartment.
The apartment is fully furnished with tasteful furnishing and some local art, eat-in kitchenette. We offer TV with cable in this apartment on a large flat-screen TV in the living room with hundreds of channels. Feel free to (responsibly) enjoy the fire pit in the backyard. Neat, typical Asheville neighborhood with some historic houses, some new constructions, modern, some families, some students, some professionals. Very safe; we have never had any crime here to our knowledge. Our wonderful resident managers have been there for years and they are lovely, conscientious people whom we completely trust.
If you bring a pet, please pre-approve the pet before you book. If your pet is completely flea-free, housebroken, and non-destructive, we would be happy to consider him/her. There is a $20 per night, per pet fee which we cap at $100 for guests who stay beyond five days. We will only consider extraordinarily well-behaved pets. You will need to bring your pet with you when you leave the apartment, or if it needs to be known to be quiet when you are gone. If you have a pet, please put the provided sofa cover over the sofa to protect it from dirty paws and teething jaws.
Walls are thick plaster, so not a whole lot of sound carries, yet you may hear some sounds of others and footsteps, or smell cooking, etc. from the two other apartments. Just below the apartment is another guest apartment, so we ask that you please take off shoes when convenient. We live close by in the historic district Monford and are available if any issues arise. Also, our resident managers in the main part of the house can help you if need be. There are plenty of heaters, and air conditioner window units in warmer months.
We welcome constructive feedback so that we can make any improvements that will make our guests' stays any more enjoyable. We very much prefer this feedback directly, so that we can better understand and remedy any issue that may come up without unnecessarily alienating others who might benefit from staying. We try to be fully transparent about the apartment so that you can best make your booking decisions, well-informed. Most people who have stayed really love the apartment, yet there have been a few who might have been better off in a modern hotel.
We do the best we can to make the apartment a space that brings visitors comfort and joy. If there is something in the apartment that is not to your liking, feel free to let us know. If you happen to break or damage something while you are staying, please let us know immediately as opposed to pretending it didn't happen. We are reasonable people and know that things happen, but it's very helpful to know if and when they happen.
Keep in mind that this is not the Four Seasons Hotel. Though many people love it for all kinds of reasons, it is quirky and loved, and imperfect. But it's also a lot of fun and a great place to relax if you're the kind of person who gets inspired by art, literature, and vintage things.

The upstairs apartment is very comfortable, had everything I needed. Quiet location and comfy bed. I would stay again!

We stayed for a long weekend and it was easy to get downtown (or anywhere, really). There’s a small lawn out back for dog relief that worked great. We will stay here again if it’s available when we’re back.
Walk to Home Grown for breakfast/brunch. It’s legit.

Accurate description of the apt in the listing. This apt reminded me of house sitting a friend's home,
in that you have to figure out where things are and get used to its quirks . It is well supplied and comfortable, and within walking distance of downtown. I had an enjoyable stay.

Easy in and out, clear communication, and great location. Would stay again!

This is a cute, whimsical little apartment with walking distance to the city center……1.2 miles on foot. Everything we needed was furnished , very clean fun little apartment .

Apartment was very clean and supplied with everything as advertised. The owners were kind and available for questions. We experienced issues with the tv and were very limited with channel choices. We didn’t remember when booking that there was a full flight of stairs to enter.

Nice place to stay with spacious room, kitchen area, bathroom and living area. Nothing fancy, but very cozy and creative living area. I had no complaints and enjoyed my stay here.

This apartment was perfect for me and my daughters for our girls weekend to the mountains.

Attractive, cozy and clean apartment in a nice residential neighborhood. Lots of personal touches and convenient to restaurants. The only criticism that we had is that the water pressure in the shower could have been better. Overall, we were very happy with the apartment.

This is a fine rental for a couple, but the front room isn't really suitable for sleeping. The super bright motion sensor floodlight outside the door is faulty and floods the front room (and wildlife and neighbors) with unwanted light. In the middle of the night, I eventually realized I could use a towel to unscrew the hot flood lights and get some sleep. The sofa bed is not the same as the one in the photo—it is a small, hard, modern sofa. Even with the provided feather mattress topper it was hard and uncomfortable.

The property owner warns that this is not a big resort type of room; it is no Hilton. However, this little upstairs apartment was clean, beautifully decorated and felt welcoming and warm. The place itself is older, but that is the charm. It has character....AND all of the amenities. The shower was hot, bed soft and we enjoyed every moment of our stay.
We headed the warnings like taking our shoes off and scaling the steep steps. This was in no way off-putting. The parking situation was a bit tough as we navigated in and out of the driveway, but got the hang of it and still loved every minute.
We will definitely be back!!

Neat space - within walking distance for most (1-1.5 mi. max with hilly terrain) of grocery stores, shops & restaurants.
Steps up to the apartment are older but stable. Quiet neighborhood. Nice remodel of a vintage space. Comfy. Only con (and not much of one) is the kitchen utensils were not the best but got the job done. Property managers were very friendly.

This property was perfect for our girls weekend in Asheville! On top of the perfect distance from all our planned activities all the check-in and location instructions were easy to follow, the property manager was prompt and friendly, and the place was even cuter in person! We would definitely stay here again and recommend anyone stopping by for a visit should keep an eye out for this place.

My husband and I stayed here while visiting friends in Asheville that lived close to the property. Had all the things you might need to feel comfortable in a home and both of us were able to 'work-from-home' out of the apartment w no issues.

This apartment was perfect for our stay in Asheville. A very clean and cozy place but you can hear some noise from the lower unit. I would not hesitate to stay here again if I am in Asheville!

What a fun place in a unique city! We stayed local, walked everywhere, got to relax in a place as unique as the city itself!! Owners are super nice, flexible and responsive, the apartment made us feel like city residents. Plenty to do, plenty of rest and recovery, all in town. Thanks for a great time!

I had a wonderful stay in this sweet apartment near Five Points. I was close to the neighborhoods and activities that I wanted to do in Asheville without feeling overcrowded. The apartment was tucked away and quiet, but I was very close to the fun of downtown.
Thank you, April!

Charming, clean and funky. Right down the street from several grocery stores. Mile downtown Asheville, easy drive. Quiet neighborhood with parking. Easy to check-in. Attention to detail, we had everything we needed. Would stay here again.

Wonderful stay
The apartment was perfect for us (two people and a small dog). The location was truly convenient to everything - we were in downtown by car in less than 5 minutes and at the Biltmore in 9 minutes and right nearby is a Harris Teeter, Trader Joes and Whole Foods if you need them. Yet the apartment itself is in a quiet, leafy neighborhood on a small side street. The surroundings are pleasant, peaceful and private. The apartment has lots of character and the decor was charming. It was a good amount of space for us, the kitchen and bathroom were spacious and had everything we needed and more. We had coffee from the Kurig every morning before we got going. The owners left information booklets and pamphlets about Asheville on the coffee table, which helped us get off to a good start. They checked in with us to see how we were doing and made sure we knew there was laundry available if we needed. Having read some other reviews, we wanted to also say that we have a small SUV and found the parking to be perfectly fine and convenient. Also, yes, the entrance is on the second floor and there is an outside staircase to get to the entrance, which we knew before we got there. The stairs were no problem for us at all and we liked being on the second floor - if you are ok with stairs in general, we think you'll be ok with these stairs, if you have a problem with stairs, then you probably would not like these stairs. The only issue we had was that the outdoor porch light was exceptionally bright at night, which is great for safety, but we did not figure out how to turn it off when it was time to go to sleep, we probably should have asked the owners.

Sweet Spot Near Downtown
I loved staying in this comfortable apartment while I attended a music event downtown. It had everything I needed and was warm and welcoming. I can tell that the owners take pride in creating a cute and colorful space. As a single female, I felt completely safe, and I will return next time I want to be close to downtown.

Very nice apartment
This is a great apartment; roomy and comfortable, and is located in a quiet neighborhood. It is winter and the apartment stayed warm. The location is just north of downtown so was convenient for local restaurants, shopping, and entertainment. It also isn’t far from many amazing hiking trails. We will definitely stay here again if it is available.

Lovely Asheville Stay
This place is just what we needed for our little family of 3 getaway to Asheville. Very close to downtown, just a 5 min drive. 20 min from the airport and 25 to ski area.
The property was just as expected from the listing - clean, cozy, comfy (we loved the fuzzy rugs!).
Highly recommend this place!

perfect for what we wanted
We we’re in town to experience Asheville and not sit in an apartment. This was perfect. It’s a very small apartment but suited us perfectly as we pretty much just slept here. The place was clean, quiet, cozy and the bed was very comfortable. The couch wasn’t as comfortable as the bed but then again when is a adjustable couch very comfortable.

Nice little apartment in a great area
Great location. Nice little apartment. I have seen lots of complaints about the stairs but I didn't find them to be any trouble. April provided plenty of warning in the description anyway. We went to a concert at Salvage Station and it was a 6 minute car ride. It is about the same to downtown as well. We would stay here again for sure.

Nice place & great location
The place was clean, well-decorated, and stocked with all the basic utensils you might need. There were many stores and restaurants within walking distance, and the main downtown area was just a couple miles away. I would absolutely recommend staying here.

Super Cute Find!
Just a stop over for the night before heading further west. Super cute and comfy. Rustic chic is 100% correct. Quiet spot nestled in amongst the trees.
Access is as described. The back stairs are not at all treacherous as others have mentioned in their reviews, though what you would expect for a small apartment in an older house with exterior access.
We walked down to the Penny Cup Coffee house on Saturday morning which was about a mile north. Lots of options for eats along the way. There is an Argentinian restaurant, Cecilia's, near the coffee house which is AMAZING - definitely recommended. Asheville Pizza also makes a great pie.
Would definitely stay here again if opportunity presented!

Great Experience
We just loved this property. It was my husband, our two dogs and myself. It was the perfect size for with more than enough room. The pictures don’t do this properly justice. The decor is beyond charming , artsy and cozy. The place was spotless with an oversized bathtub that was just perfect to relax in after a day of travel. Bed was extremely comfortable with plenty of storage in the bedroom, if needed. There was absolutely nothing we went missing for. Hope to stay again in the future.

The location is perfect. As an older woman I found it difficult to carry luggage up and down the staircase. My daughter did not. I would have liked a good reading lamp and more comfortable furniture in the living room. The bathroom was nice, and bedroom very serene. We especially liked seeing the artwork. Overall nicely decorated, sunny and bright inside.

Cute, cozy, artsy little place
We stayed here for a week during the Christmas season. Very warm and cozy. We loved the giant bathtub and the thoughtful touches throughout the apartment. It snowed while we were there and the outdoor stairs were a bit harrowing in the snow and ice. Had it not been late Christmas eve when the snow fell, I think the owner would have cleaned them for us, but because of the holiday, the task fell to me. I didn't really have the proper equipment (no snow shovel, no gloves) and it had snowed about four inches and was about 18 degrees outside, so I think the memory of cleaning the stairs and walkway will stay with me for a while! All in all, we enjoyed the coziness of the place and the convenience of the location. We walked to downtown once and Ubered home without issue for under $10. This listing is not luxurious, but has just about everything you need.

What a peaceful oasis in a convenient spot!
We loved our stay in this sweet upstairs apartment. We had everything we needed & we were able to cook in or go out easily given its location. We hope to visit again someday!
