Rustic. It would have been ideal if not for the above average temperature while there. Without a/c it was uncomfortable most of the day. My recommendations would be to update utensils.

We loved staying here and will do so again. The property was gorgeous and right on the water. We took the kayaks right on the water from the dock and enjoyed this so very much. We saw so many birds, an aligator, and astingray! We also spent a lot of time in the raised tree house area. We cooked on the grill, walked up the street to the area restaurants and bars, and visited Placencia. We also took a River Tour which we would HIGHLY recommend. It was awesome! Stay here. You will enjoy the experience!

Loved the house and our stay at the Tree Top aka Winter's Avalon in Maya Beach. The house photos are accurate and speaking with Herbert was easy via Whatsapp. The people of the area are absolutely fabulous and loved meeting all the new people. When paddleboarding or kayaking we had the water all to ourselves, which was very peaceful and relaxing. This is a great place to stay and have already recommended it to others.
Only one con: Neighbor's kids were visiting at the same time and were playing music with the bass turned up every night starting around 6pm until 10pm and I was unsuccessful in tuning out the pounding noise. However, my friend Brigett didn't have any problem tuning it out, I'm a bit more sensitive to noises.
Go enjoy and have a great time, you'll love your experience!

We booked Winter's Avalon for a month from mid-February to mid-March, and we absolutely loved staying here. We did several other mini-trips during our month to explore different parts of Belize and visit friends, but we were always excited to come "home." The beds are comfy, the kitchen had just what we needed to make meals, we had morning coffee and sunset cocktails on the third level lookout space daily, enjoyed time on the dock checking out the birds and a little spotted eagle ray that liked to cruise by. It's quiet and private, and Herbert was near by to help us with any issues, including lending us his electric air pump until we could get a leaky tire fixed on our rental car. Some really excellent restaurants are in easy walking or biking distance, and it was very convenient to meet up with our guides in Placencia for various adventures we booked. We were sad to leave, and hope our travels bring us back to Winter's Avalon some day.

Great place, check-in was seamless. We very much appreciated the local insight we gained from our check-in, they let use know which tour operators were the best, and the best restaurants. The property is incredible, the photos VRBO really reflect what it, I really didn't think it could live up to it, but, it's actually better!! Hardwoods everywhere, great little dock, the kayaks are maybe 20' from the water. To top it off the treehouse is the cherry on top, we spent morning and evenings up there, birds everywhere, great view of the lagoon. Loved it

Amazing and private!
We loved this place and the location was great in Maya Beach! We could walk or bike to stores, restaurants, beach, etc. We loved having bikes and kayaks. The hosts were wonderful and helpful in connecting us with a catamaran sail/snorkel trip and a Monkey River trip. We also traveled on our own into Placencia to wander around and to Cockscomb Basin for hiking. The house was great, private, and relaxing. We knew the place did not have air conditioning and didn’t mind at all, it had great air flow. No complaints from us at all!!!

Cool Place
Very friendly hosts. The bikes and kayaks for our use were awesome. The house is not fancy, but very comfortable. All of the screened in living space was great for enjoying the nice ocean breeze and prefect weather.

This is the place to stay!
I can’t begin to tell you how amazing this place is! Peace and quiet, wonderful grounds and the house is unbelievable. What a great concept. Completely screened in with the bedrooms and bath enclosed. We spent most of our time in the look out tower. I want to live there permanently. Next time I will defiantly stay at least 2 weeks. Herbert and Seline were so helpful but let us have our space. They even helped us set up our last stay by the airport that was safe enough for two sisters traveling alone. We lost a set of keys and were devastated but they were so kind to not make us feel bad. You will need a car, but driving is easy. Thanks so much for everything Herbert and Seline.

We enjoyed 7 days of peace. The setting was amazing; trees, water, views of the Mountains, birds, and other wildlife. It was awesome to be able to hop in the kayaks and go out in the lagoon. Although most of our days were filled with lots of rain, we had a great place to enjoy it sitting in the outdoors without getting wet! The tower was awesome! We totally decompressed. We enjoyed some great restaurants nearby and also some takeout to take back to our serene setting.

Winter’s Avalon
Precisely what we were looking for in a Belizean experience. Far from a cookie cutter hotel room. Herbert was very helpful in getting us acclimated to the area and respectful of our space. The location was perfect as we had access to a number of jungle and ocean activities. We highly recommend staying at Winters Avalon!

We loved the privacy and unique set up of the house. The view was amazing and the wildlife was really a wonderful treat. The hosts really went above and beyond to make sure we felt at home and they were really thoughtful. They had everything there from canoes and bicycles to cotton balls and spices in the kitchen. They even supplied a local cellphone so we could use and take around with us in our adventures which was so helpful so we didn't have to use our international roaming. The kitchen had all the utensils needed to cook meals and the supermarket was not too far away to buy food to cook. The upstairs view deck was lovely, and quite peaceful, great way to start the morning. The master bedroom was quite comfy with lots of fans to keep us cool in the humid Belize weather, unfortunately we did find ourselves really wishing that the house had an AC unit in the room as we were not used to the heavy humid weather. Other than that we absolutely loved the uniqueness of this lovely place and we really fell in love with the raccoons and bush rabbits.

Cherished treehouse tucked away in a very picturesque setting
We truly enjoyed our stay in this rustic “treehouse.” The home is so very charming and our hosts were very accommodating. Herbert and Simone were very gracious and adorable, to boot. The home came with kayaks and bikes. While we never used the bikes, we kayaked every morning, bright and early. The house is situated on a lagoon with a small dock and Adirondack chairs to sit and enjoy your morning coffee. It was also the launching pad for the kayaks. The house is well equipped and ideally situated for morning walks to the ocean and local resorts which are opened to the public.
I highly recommend this rustic slice of heaven. Truly a great way to live and take in the Belizean style.

Beautiful location!
We felt like we were in a treehouse! There is nothing but amazing to describe Winter's Avalon. The location was secluded and peaceful. Herbert and Simone were so helpful. Thank you for a wonderful week! We'll be back!

This is it, look no further
Look no further, this is it! We wanted an authentic rustic place to stay vs a hotel and can’t say enough how perfect this spot is. We used bikes everyday to go to the Ocean Club pool and beach- only a 5 minute ride. Walking to dinner was easy and fun. We even rode our bike to Naia Resort for a spa treatment and birthday dinner. The house comes with Kyaks that you can put right out on the creek dock. We did not bring our kids but next time we will. Very safe and they would have loved this jungle hut. I recommend river tubing through barefoot tours, they picked us up right on oour street. Simone was awesome! Greeted as we arrived and took great care of us. We had great memories here.

Quaint, quiet, interesting
Enjoyed our stay at this unique property. Essentially a screened porch with and enclosed bedroom/bathroom in the middle. Beautiful breezes throughout and very comfortable. Herbert and Simone were wonderful hosts and a wealth of local knowledge! Only thing that would make this place better would be a microwave.

Everything we could have hoped for and then some!!
We had such a time getting from the airport to our rental car, and then finding our way around Belize (which isn't hard, if you use a map). We arrived here at night, which made things get off to a rough start because there isn't street lights. But then when we found our way, to say the least.. We were blown away. Then after an amazing sleep, we woke up to experience it all over again, Just in day light. What a amazing start to our trip, we owe it all to this place. Bed is comfortable, there's fans everywhere! Which is amazing! the wrap around deck with kitchen was amazing! Our host were very friendly and informative on the area and market timelines. The area surrounding the house was breath taking, sun sets to sunrise- just glorious. coffee in the morning having a sit on the dock watching birds and fish in the canal or looking out on the lagoon at sunset, just a few of the many treats. The store just around the corner had everything you could need and then some! Lots of restaurants near by, which vary in pricing- just look around on google. There's even bowling down the road! we never got around to that- but how cool! The beaches are all fantastic, its all crown land- so you can go on to any beach front you want, 60' from shore front to land (look it up, it may not be exactly 60' but damn near). Placencia was the near by town, which was really cool and it had markets to purchase local produce.

Great house and view. 15 minutes from palencia and walking distance to maya beach. Quiet and everything you need at the house to cook or just chill. Would stay again.

Perfect Belize house for a couple. Open airy private
Many times in Belize, first stay at Maya Beach. Best village on the peninsula if you want classic Belize feel. Developers are actively developing the entire peninsula at a rate I have never seen anywhere before, but Maya Beach still retains some character. The house was perfect for us. Set back away from the highway. Nestled next to a canal with a dock. Main floor is on concrete stilts about 12’ in the air. Exterior walls are all screens. This creates a 9’ deep screened porch around the large bedroom/bathroom suite in the center. Everything is Belizian hardwoods, some painted some clear finished. The porch are contained a well equipped kitchen, living and eating areas. Best of all was the large enclosed3rd floor level. From their you can see around you 360 degrees. This includes views of the lagoon and sunset over the Maya mountains to the west.
Herbert and Simone are the property managers and live nearby. They were great to work with and had a wealth of information about the entire peninsula and any activity that we wanted to do.
We left there yesterday and I miss it already.

We loved this place - very comfortable and Herbert and Simone were perfect hosts. It is within easy reach of the beach and a short drive to Placencia but tucked away so very peaceful. The view over the lagoon is superb!

Such a sweet spot....hidden jewel!
Loved the simplicity of the bungalow nestled in the trees with a wonderful view of the lagoon and mountains. Easy walk to the beach and restaurants. Paddle boarding and kayaking on-site was a treat. The kitchen is well stocked and wrap around porch with no need for air conditioning was magical! Thanks for such a great stay in paradise!

Private, safe and conveniently located to town and all of what we wanted to see! Herbert was very helpful with ideas and directions. We would stay again if we return to Belize.
