About this cabin rental
Come and experience the magnificent magic of a waterfront cabin with your own dock right in the Western North Carolina's Smoky Mountains! The southern exposure will ensure bright warm sunny days and a beautiful view of the sunset in the evenings. The lake has numerous waterfalls and you can rent different watercraft at a marina nearby to explore the lake or enjoy different water sports.
Visit the traditional, quaint nearby towns of Highlands and Cashiers while staying on the lake. Lake Glenville at 3800 feet elevation has 26 miles of shoreline, is 4.5 miles long and over 1,460 acres is spring fed by 5 mountain streams. You can enjoy the refreshing 72 degree water while jet skiing, tubing, fishing and boating. The glistening shoreline of Lake Glenville has waterfalls, a Christmas tree farm, and beautiful picturesque homes.
This waterfront, A-frame vacation cabin has the master bedroom (with a extremely comfortable king size bed) and bath downstairs. Upstairs in the oversized loft are 2 twin beds and king bed and a full second private bath.
You can take your steaming, hot coffee outside in the screened-in porch to curl up with a good book or go out on the large, adjacent deck to enjoy the view. The cabin has a fireplace, wireless internet, Direct TV and all the amenities of home.
The dock will provide hours of entertainment. You can bring your own boat or rent one from the nearby marina and step right from your dock onto your boat. The are jet ski davits to hook up your jetski. We even provide two kayaks on the dock for your use.

This was not our first visit to Lake Glenville, but was our first stay at this rental. First, the hosts are very responsive and when we had a problem with a paper hornet building a nest by the porch, they took care of it very quickly. Second, the house is perfect and has literally everything you will need. The two bathrooms had been recently renovated and the kitchen has everything imaginable, except a cookie sheet! The hosts provided paper towels and toilet paper, along with laundry and dishwashing liquids. Bring your own bathroom soap! Third, the dock is amazing and the lake water was even better. We brought our own pool noodles but there was an inner tube, plastic chairs, table, and two gravity chairs that we used every day. Prepare yourself for the 170+ steps to the dock and if the thought of 340+ steps round trip worries you, or you are elderly or handicapped, this is not the place for you. I’m not in the best shape and did just fine. Note, some stairs are moss covered and a little slippery. We loved our stay and have already reserved the home for next summer!

We had a very relaxing time at the cabin. This is our second stay and will definitely come back!

Loved the house and location. Good outdoor spaces as well as indoors. Comfortable beds. Beautiful lake. Enjoyed the kayaks. Only downside was the long stairway to the dock. Some of us older folks struggled a bit but we knew this before we rented. Good exercise, right?

The property was the cleanest we have had, which is saying something because we use Vrbo all the time and because being in the middle of the woods, one is likely to bring in dirt. Also, they had the sharpest knives of any kitchen we have used. I really appreciated that. It was a beautiful view, too. The house was really well-stocked with supplies. The steps are very steep, and I did slip one time, so be careful, but everything was great. Awesome, awesome week!!

What a fabulous getaway! The cabin is very charming, clean, appointed with everything you could imagine you’d have at home! We enjoyed drinking coffee on the expansive deck overlooking the lake every morning. Great place to stay and very relaxing!

We loved the rustic cabin and the beautiful views. Kids enjoyed the kayaks and the loft. Can’t wait to come back!

Lovely home with wonderful outdoor space. The view of the lake was beautiful. With the deck and covered screened in porch we were able to enjoy it even with the rain we had.
The home was very comfortable and had everything we needed to feel welcome. We want to come back with our kids!

The house was great, just what you'd expect for that mountain cabin experience. Clean and everything needed to be comfortable. Easy access to Cashiers, Highlands and Sylva, we hit them all and Happs Place is about a mile away, great food, drinks and 3 season room with a fireplace that opens to an outdoor area. Friday night they had a band on the outdoor stage. The access to the lake from the house includes 177 stairs, yes we counted, not ideal for small children or elderly. The lake is very clean, would have liked to see the 3 waterfalls visible from the lake but the marina wasn't renting boats for the weekend, probably because it was October and the high 30s morning temps discouraged taking the kayaks out. Overall a wonderful stay.

We had a wonderful time at this lovely lakeside house! The owners are VERY responsive and had all of the basics you hope you find in a rental. The view was lovely from every room and we will definitely be back!

home was as advertised, well supplied, spacious and comfortable. It is a rather steep path from house to lake and renters should be aware of the challenge presented to very young children, elderly or those with a physical disability or in poor health

Nice area and beautiful view of lake. Stairs down to lake are strenuous but great dock once you get there!
I highly recommend the cabin. Debra, the owner, was very accessible and easy to work with.

Unique A-frame house is well cared for and updated. Very comfortable beds and furniture. Big screened porch and large open deck means you can enjoy the outdoors in any weather. Fantastic view of the lake. The 170 stairs to the dock are a little bit of a work out, but are stable with a sturdy hand rail. Table, chairs and kayaks are already there. Super!

Property exactly as advertised and pictured. Plenty of space and well appointed. Already booked our next trip to come back next year!

This by far has been our most favorite stay in the area. So peaceful and amazing access to the lake! We miss it already and for sure will stay next summer but longer that time!

If you have a lab this is the place for you. Such easy access getting in and out of lake for our fur baby and the house is great too. Love the screened in porch came in handy for rainy days
Already booked for next year. Can’t wait

We stayed here for a short vacation to celebrate the beginning of summer. The cabin is perfect! There is a television, board games, a stereo, a very well stocked pantry, a grill, kayaks and a dock with a beautiful view. It is very relaxing also. The screened porch was great for meals. There are several nearby restaurants and a grocery store. We had a wonderful experience and hope to stay again. Thank you for the wonderful memories!

Beautiful property. We had everything we needed. I would definitely stay here again.

The property has a beautiful location. All the rooms are lovely and it was very easy to get comfortable for our stay. We enjoyed hanging out on the porch and having a fire on the patio while viewing the natural surroundings. Being on lake Glenville makes this a truly unique rental. Local restaurants, waterfalls, and nearby Cashiers added to our weekend fun. I would recommend this property to anyone looking for a fun getaway.

The house was so comfortable and clean. We enjoyed the deck and lovely lake views. It rained and was cold the day we arrived but the heaters had been set for us and the house was warm and inviting.
The next day was sunny and warm enough to use the kayaks and grill our dinner. The kitchen was well equipped, there were plenty of barh towels and linens, and we loved the cabin decor.
We will definitely return!

This is our third visit to the cabin and our second fall getaway here. Love the view from the windows and porch, the house. amenities, and the attentiveness of the host. This time we brought my college friend, and we all had an enjoyable time. Really like the new recliners in the living room, too! Thank you again!!!

We really could not have asked for a better place to spend the week. One of my favorite vacations to date, many fond memories made. Breathtaking views from the house, and from the dock, very comfortable beds, and surprisingly spacious. Now, the walk to the lake is not easy by any means but also not that unreasonable unless you have significant mobility or health concerns. I am 30 and athletic so it was no problem for me (other than a sore booty from using those muscles so much as I did most of the runs back to and from the house from the dock so my parents didn’t have to) but my parents are in their late 60s and not in the best shape and they were still able to get down and up them at least 2x a day taking it slow. On the bright side you don’t have to feel guilty about not exercising for a whole week while on vacation because the exercise is built into the fun! ;) The kayaks were awesome, I so appreciated having those to use. The water is crystal clear and in addition to the dock this property has a nice little sand/rock beach compared to others nearby. Definitely recommend renting a pontoon from signal ridge to go see the waterfalls (nothing epic but still neat). My ONLY possible con for the house was that when you first walk in it does smell a little like mildew and pets (not gross stuff just well you know what I mean if you have a dog)…certainly not bad but if you’re not used to living with pets and have never lived in a wooded/shaded area where it’s just a fact of life sometimes leather things get mildewed then it might be a turn off for you. Didn’t bother my family and if you turn the fan on upstairs as the directions say to do it resolves it. We actually really appreciated being able to find a home that was almost perfect and could also bring our beloved dogs with us. I would still consider this the cleanest pet friendly cabin I’ve ever stayed in. If we come back to Lake Glenville (which I hope we do) we will definitely stay here again. You can absolutely tell that the owners put a lot of thought and care into making this an enjoyable place so I have no doubt when they see this review they will take action to wipe down some of the mildew from underneath the leather couch and then the whole 2nd half of my review will no longer be applicable and I will have had only positive things to say :). All in all I absolutely recommend! If you’re on the fence, just go ahead and book it you won’t regret.

Great property, exactly as expected. Loved the A framed house on Lake Glenville. This is a gem of a property in a great neighborhood, would definitely come back again. Thanks for sharing your home.

My family (me, husband, 10yo daughter, 13yo son) had a great experience renting this house, from before we even got there. The owner was incredibly responsive to all of my pre-stay questions. She answered completely and right away. This makes a huge difference in stress levels!
One question I asked was whether there would be wood for a wood fire there. She actually had a delivery sent to the house the day of our arrival since she knew we were interested.
We used the kayaks and spent time on the dock. But we also spent a lot of time in the house itself, since it rained a couple days. The house was very comfortable. Good beds. Fully-stocked kitchen. Once we arrived, we didn't have to leave once. Thanks for a great stay!

We had a great time at the lake house in Glennville--truly a little bit of heaven! The house was stocked with everything we needed, plus a lot more. We spent most of the time on the outside deck, with a fire burning (wood and starter provided). We appreciated the nice cookware and items in the pantry, comfortable beds, and cool decor. Especially loved the dock on the water and four kayaks. The path down is steep and long but well worth it. We've already booked for next year and are looking forward to it. The owners were very responsive to inquiries.

Great Relaxing Trip
We had a great summer vacation.

Cute house and great location
I stayed at the cabin with my parents (I’m 49 and my parents are in their upper 70s). It’s a great location with beautiful views of the lake, it’s only about a 10 minute drive to Cashiers. We really enjoyed ourselves. The house was very clean But it did have a musty and doggy smell. I am very sensitive though, other people might not even noticed. I know that all of the houses in the area have a hard time with the musty smell from all the rain in the area- It did get a lot better once I opened up the house. If you are an older person and want to go down to the lake this might not be the house for you because it’s a lot of steps But I thought it was great and gave me more exercise. I also thought it was so nice that there were kayaks for me to use. The house is very comfortable and clean and cutely decorated except there is a deer head which I’m sure the owners proudly hunted But not being into that I wanted to throw a blanket over his head, The Wi-Fi didn’t work great But we never complained because we really didn’t need it and maybe there was something the owners could’ve done if we said something. We loved the screened in porch and big deck looking over the lake -it was just lovely and we really enjoyed our stay.

Lakefront vacation
This property offered everything we needed for our vacation. Kitchen well equipt. Comfortable beds. Loved the screened deck. The dock and kayaks helped complete our vacation. They were worth every step

Gorgeous lakefront
House was clean and had beautiful views. Was a bit dark in the house. Did not learn until too late to cancel that there were 170 steps down to dock and kayaks.
4.7
House was as listed
Owner very responsive
Steps to lake was difficult , would have used dock more had to not been so challenging to go down and then back up
House was clean and everything one would need is there
Navigating the heating and air systems would’ve been nicer to have some instructions other than that overall good experience
4.7
We enjoyed our stay. Stairs down to dock are really unevenly spaced, rotting 4x4s. Kayaks are awkward to access. Cabin was comfortable and had everything we needed. Beautiful deck and screened porch overlooking the lake. It’s a wonderful area.

Lake View Dream House
This cabin is a very nice and staged for every conveniance. This property has beautiful views of the lake. The town located nearby is very nice as well. The owner is very responsive to all communications and even helped us out with a personal dilemma of leaving some belongings behind after checking out.
4.7
Great location
House was in a great location and was well stocked with things you may need in the kitchen. We enjoyed our stay very much and would stay here again.
4.7
Cool cabin but it needs some work
The view was amazing and the access to the lake can’t be best. However the heating system is old and it made for tough sleeping. We also felt the place needed a deep clean.

Will be back with out family
Great communication with Debra in prep for our trip. Property is lovely with beautiful view of lake.

quiet mountain lake getaway
We wanted to have a lakefront anniversary in the mountains and this fit the bill. The property was as described. It was colder than we expected, so we did not use the kayaks as planned. Will have to revisit in summer as this lake is peaceful and would like to explore. The walk to the dock was a lot of steps, but good exercise! The kitchen was well supplied with everything we needed...plates, silverware, coffee maker. The living room couch was comfortable and we took advantage of the direct tv to catch Sunday football. We were able to use the provided firewood to keep a fire going during stay as it got to high 20s at night. Communication with host was easy and quick. They recommended area restaurants. The library kitchen was our fave. Some great waterfalls in the area. Pretty fall colors!

Beautiful
We visited in late October 2021 and the Fall leaf colors were beautiful! We loved the cottage and would visit again.

Autumn Weekend on the Lake.
We enjoyed our stay so much, that we didn't venture out to nearby Cashiers but only one day. Staying put on the property had everything we traveled to the mountains for. We enjoyed the dock, the scenery, the views of the changing color, the rocking of the waves as the small craft went by, the quiet. The house was well-appointed for all our needs. We are in our sixties and active. There are a lot of stairs down to the lake, but we took our time and it was worth the walk each time. Our corgi also was able to get up and down the steep stairs each day. Thank you for sharing your comfortable vacation spot with us, The Gulliksens.
